Outlook 2000 HTML msgs being cut off

Q: Outlook 2000 HTML msgs being cut off

Hi,

I recently changed Outlook from 'Internet-only' to 'Corporate or Workgroup' mail.

Since then, when I receive HTML messages, some of them are cut off before the end. Not all HTML messages, but enough that I realise it's not just the sender, it's Outlook. Why is it doing this and what do I need to do to it?

Thanks,

SImon Young

Preferred Solution: Outlook 2000 HTML msgs being cut off

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hello,

Does anyone know whether there's a way to disable HTML-coded mails from accessing the internet in Outlook Express? I occasionally open a message from a spammer that's contains HTML, and I realize it's an easy matter to set a web bug in the message that would track whether I opened the mail or not.

Note: I am not concerned with the SENDing of messages, but rather the READING of messages. I'd prefer to have them display formatted, but NOT be allowed to access the internet, but would settle for viewing the raw HTML.

This seems like an easy feature to implement. If it's not there, any ideas as to why?

TIA...

See if these help at all. Did you install security updates? That could disable HTML.

This might have some helpful info (for OL98 and later versions):

If those don't do it...you'll have to wait for someone that actually uses OL2000 to respond.

I cannot print HTML messages in Outlook. I receive the error message referencing SHDOCLC.DLL/preview.dlg. When I researched and applied the replacement of the IEPEERS.DLL file, it does not work. I have uninstalled and replaced IE6.1. Previously I could not print webpages (same issue), but the reinstall of IE fixed that problem. The only solution that works is to forward any HTML format e-mail I receive and reformat in plain text.

I am running Windows 98, Outlook 2000, and am printing to an HP Deskjet (832C)

Any help is sincerely appreciated.

Here's the problem: I'm trying to create a HTML template in Outlook 2000. Now to do this I have to unselect Word as the editing tool and go with Outlook's editor. When I paste the HTML document (from Word) into the editor everything looks fine (more or less), the graphics are all in place and the text is the same as the original (Word document). I then go to 'Publish Form As..' and save the document in the relevant folder.

All well and good, that is, until I select the form and it comes out as pure text with no graphics at all.

I've made sure that the message is set to HTML in Options but it still insists that the template is pure text.

Any ideas?

Here's my problem, perhaps someone has heard of this...

If I send html email (either copy/paste from the web, or formatted text in the email), from a WinXP/OfficeXP computer, it will be received incomplete by a Win98/Office 2000 computer, but it will be received complete by a WinXP/Office 2000 computer. I'm trying to resolve a problem for a client who is using Outlook 2000. They use the HTML format in their emails as they have a nifty signature and use other HTML options. They also print these emails. When they print, the formatting of the email is different from what is on the screen. Once I switch the email to plain text, the onscreen appearance resembles the printout, but the signature is also converted leaving a mess. There is no line wrapping on the printout (in HTML mode) either and some parts are printed off the page.
Thanks for any advice.

When I did a clean install of WinXP I copied my old C: drive to a CD and also specifically copied all the *.dbx files that were the messages I had in the old Outlook Express (4.0?) program. I can't seem to import these to the new OE. I located the folder that has *.dbx files in my new installation (boy, is it buried deep!). It doesn't list any files in the pane (I know they are there because search shows them there). I copied one of the old files, hold.dbx, to this new folder but it doesn't show up when I open OE. How can I get my old messages into my new OE???

Other than this little quirk I have to say that I really like XP! A clean install, and reloaded all your programs ain't for sissies - but it was worth it.

Thanks for your help.

I use Microsoft Outlook as my e-mail program. I can receive e-mail but when I compose and try to send the mail out it goes straight to my outbox and no matter what I try it will not send the mail out. Can anyone advise me as to what to do to correct the problem? Prior to this my mail worked just fine? I use IE6. Thanks.

A:Microsoft Outlook keeping my msgs in Outbox

Prior to this? Have you changed something. Check that your account is still setup correctly. Go to "tools" - "accounts". Under the "all" or "mail" tab there should be at least one account name - look at the "properties" and click the "servers" tab. Here you will have incomming and outgoing mail set-up. I'm with wanadoo so it is "pop.wanadoo.fr" for the incomming mail and "smtp.wanadoo.fr" for the outgoing mail. Look at the documentation from your provider to see what "you" should have there.

It may be something else but it's a good place to start.

Unless I am connected to the internet any messages I send do not arrive. They go to the outbox OK, and they disappear, ie go to sentbox, when I connect, but they fail to arrive and fail to return any error message. Currently I connect and then write my messages. This works. I would normally write all my messages, put them ALL in outbox, and then at a convienient time connect and then send. I also have noticed that even if I'm connected messages coming in only arrive if I click the send/recieve button. Maybe there is a connection??

I have now seen this problem on 2 different computers. Even though the box "Leave copy of message on server" is checked, all messages are removed from the pop server. I found a Microsoft patch that addresses this problem, but they said it applies only to OL2003 and was fixed in SP3. Apparently not. Any ideas?

Also, in OL 2000, you can uncheck a box so a particular account does not synchronize or download from server. I used this for special situations for an outgoing only account. This seems to have disappeared in OL2007. Is this feature still possible?

You said this issue occurs in two computers. Do they both have the same email address or from the same domain ? IF they do try a gmail account , config gmail to not save a copy and enable leave a copy on the server. See if this works.

Take a look at this:

Even though that's for MSN, where it mentions smtp.email.msn.com see if changing it to smtp.mail.comcast.net. It may/may not work, so you may have to change it back if its doesn't.

Recurring pop-up at start-up of Outlook (not Express) "A program is trying to access email address you have stored in outlook. do you want to allow this?"

This pop-up (and its 50+ brothers) comes up at start-up, and occurs at least a few other times during the day. I have to clear all 50-100 of them (I click 'no" repeatedly on each pop-up) before I can make a single stroke in Outlook. This is the same Outlook program that I have been using for years without problems, but this began after reformatting of this machine, a Dell Inspirion 1520.

I have tried in vain to determine WHAT program is trying to access my emails, but to no avail. It doesn't seem to be my security ware, which was my first suspect.

In Win7x64, Google email in the form of HTML source becomes mangled in Office Outlook (which I've substituted for incompatible Outlook Express).

To replace Outlook Express, I first tried Thunderbird, and then Eudora. Only Office Outlook, which is part of MS Office, had all the functions and options of Outlook Express that I like, plus formatting and organization features.

I could use Web Mail with Gmail or ATT-Yahoo, to which I have access, but I prefer getting my mail to my PC and keeping it there.

Hello. This is my first post here so hope it makes some sense to someone. I normally run Vista32, but also have winXP on a separate HD. I only have one or the other connected just in case I have problems (like now). Yesterday I ran AVG8.5 on Vista just after getting the latest update. It ran clean about 2 weeks ago, but now it detected over 2,000 hits with the HTML/Framer virus! It put them all in the vault, but could not heal the files. I also restored one file and ran the DRWEB scanner and it did not detect this virus. Prior to running avg I updated windows defender and it ran clean also. The only changes in the past week or two have been downloading and installing EA burnout paradise ultimate box demo, a java update and a Firefox update. Also done some normal surfing, but not to any devious sites that I am aware of. Other than the AVG hits, nothing else seemed to be wrong with the system. I have installed all of the Vista updates when they are available.
Although I get no more hits with all of the HTM files in the AVG vault, I have been reluctant to go online, that's why I switched back to winXP to research this.

Hello all,

I have a Database containing a member list in access 2000. I send personalized emailings for evening parties (each member receives an email with his name & a few details) according to certain criterias. I need to send HTML emails for the formatting.

The simplest method seemed to use MS Word "Tools/Office/Fusion with MS Word" to send a mailing. The sending works fine, however, MS word is incapable of sending HTML messages that way, it only sends plain text. This seems to be a built in limit.

Does anyone know how to work around this MS Word limitation and send html messages (keeping the formatting) ? I'm ready to have a look at any software (preferably freeware or cheap!) you might suggest. An important point, for the sake of simplicity, would be to be able to launch it from access directly (like the Tools/Office/Fusion with MS Word thing. because I do my sorting in Access and don't want to save the results to a separate table each time.)

Thanks a million if anyone can help me !

okay, I have a file in microsoft excel. I have a column in there for a

Recently upgraded my other computer operating Win 98 from Office 97 to 2000.
All is finally well with the settings after seemingly endless tweaks and changes except for one nagging problem. If I use Word as the email editor in Outlook (html), the "text" portion only of the email (not subject box-it is black text) is sent and arrives in a very light lime green color! You can barely read it.If I remove Word as the editor, then the text is in black--nice and clear.
I have spent hours playing with the settings in Word changing between automatic and black.I have checked and rechecked the Outlook settings.I can't shake this light lime green text with Word as the editor and I want Word as the editor--very frustrating..And something else important and related....
When you use Outlook to fax,(Symantec Fax Starter), the text arrives on all fax machines, but it is very "faint", however the subject and cover sheet are dark normal text, which makes me think it is being transmitted as light lime green, but showing up faint black as fax machines have only black shades.
Is there a setting somewhere in Windows that is impacting on Word? I've buzzed around the control panel and no success. I don't know why I can't pinpoint this--probably too easy and right there staring at me..........help!

Try this, don't know if it will work or not but go to tools, options and on the view tab make sure there is no tic in the Field codes.

Second check the view you are in. Sounds like you are in viewing the htm source as listed under view.

Are you seeing all the htm tags or just the one for bold?

I would like to know if there was a way to forward messages based on content to a file outside of Outlook 2000, like Access 2000 in particular, maybe even Excel 2000. I know that a rule can be set up to forward messages to personal folders, but I would like to know if it can be done to an outside file. I didn't know if it had to do with messages being in pst format.

A:Forwarding message from Outlook 2000 to Access 2000

No. Not possible to my knowledge or without VBA.

I think it might be easier for you to set Access to import from the PST file at a given time each day. Of course, you'll have to have exited Outlook at that time or the PST file will report that it is in use.

I have installed outlook with my Windows Office 2000 disk. I am also using Windows 2000 Pro. I am logged in as Admin (default admin accout) and trying to run/setup outlook. It will not let me start outlook and tells me I need to be logged in as admin or have my admin do this for me. However, I am the admin trying to do this. What do I need to do to get this to work?

A:Running/Setup Outlook 2000 in Windows 2000

Simple, Login as an admin but in the local machine, not in the domain. You must be part of the local administrators in the local machine. Do it , 100% guaranteed.

Although you are running this on an NT machine, your question is actually about an application. I am going to move it to the Applications forum where Dreamboat (our Office Guru) and her faithful "usual gang of idiots " will help you out.

I'm going totally nuts, as my e-mail default is MS Outlook 2000, and it is a problem driving me NUTS. I can use MS Outlook for hours, send and receive mail without any problems, and then suddenly, it will prompt for my user name and password out of no where and I won't be able to get or receive mail. It will have this pop-up prompt window come up repeatedly, even after I type in all needed info -- only to pop up again and not send or get my mail. The only way I seem able to fix this is by calling my ISP which is a local ISP now gone national -- NuNet and they go through tweaks for me. I've tried shutting down and rebooting, only to have this annoying problem still persist. Any ideas???

Since you are probably using Outlook 2000 in Internet Only mode, and this is not really a networking or NT/2000 issue, I am going to move it to our applications forum where our Office Guru Dreamboat might have some answers for you

My mom has 3 computers. Two are running XP Home with Outlook Express. One is running XP Pro with Outlook 2002. She currently receives email notifications from Paypal regarding items sold. These notifications contain a graphic at the top that has always been visible and printable. A couple of days ago 1 XP Home machine and the XP Pro machine started taking an extremely long time to load the graphic. She has normally done a batch print on these emails and this time they would take 5 minutes each to load up the graphic and print. Nothing was done to either computer. I looked back through old emails that were successfully displayed and printed, but they are not working now. This led me to believe that either I was receiving a corrupt graphic from Paypal, or had downloaded a corrupt one that was being used in all the messages. However, the other XP Home box has no problems whatsoever. She receives these emails thru 2 different ISPs. We went to their webmail sites and the problem was the same. HTML in email we receive from other sites seems to be fine. Is there a HTML cache somewhere in Outlook that can be deleted? Could this be some kind of font issue? Any other ideas that I could try to fix this? Thanks.

I use XP Pro and Microsoft Office 2003 Pro on a Toshiba laptop. Recently, Outlook stopped displaying HTML messages from some news letters and I get this message, "If your software garbles this newsletter, read this issue at..." and gives me the web site address.

Is anyone aware of a download that enables html text to be received in incoming email?

Or maybe you can tell me if it can be configured to do this?

I can't seem to enable it through the various tools options and have checked MS Office site for updates.

Thanks!
