Factory reset hp stream 13 laptop

Q: Factory reset hp stream 13 laptop

Recently I found my dad's old HP notebook. It's password protected and he doesn't remember it. The battery is not removable and there is no disc port. Is there a way to factory reset the notebook from the startup screen?

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hello,I have HP Stream 14-ax003nc laptop. Friend jokingly started it in SysPrep and the laptop now won't boot (as HP laptops don't support SysPrep mode). It usually can be undone by doing the factory reset. Whenever I try to do that, it just fails immediately with no error message. It just says "We have failed to do factory reset."  What shoul I do? Thanks

At some point in my owning this product (in the last 4-5 months), I had received a low disk space warning, so I started to uninstall programs that I thought I didn't need. I may have removed something that was necessary for another program to use, but I don't know what that might have been. All the programs I was removing were pre-installed on my notebook. Is there a way to factory reset my notebook to its original settings before I started uninstalling like crazy? or to see what I might have uninstalled so I can re-install? And even after I removed programs I still get the "Low Disk Space" warning, despite backing up all my personal files to my SD card and cleaning out the "Downloads" folder -- since everything seems to go there, which makes me think this computer NEVER had space to begin with. HELP pLEASE!

My otherhalf has a Stream 11 on windows 10, it all started when the screen would just go black and freeze. The memory had about 500mb left and she said to clear the whole thing and start from scratch. So I tried doing a factory reset, chose not to keep personal files. It got to 62%  and said it had failed, now when I try to start it, it gets to the HP logo and thats as far as it goes. The screen goes off, comes back on, shows the HP logo then goes off again. I've tried the Factory reset, I've tried keeping personal files all to no avail. It came with windows 10 preloaded so I don't have a copy that  I can use. I've been trying to sort this for the last 5 days and I'm currently contemplating putting an angle grinder through. However, I don't think my good lady would appreciate me doing this, so I was wondering if anyone has any other ideas?? All help greatly appreciated

Like others, our Stream hard drive is full and the computer is now nothing more than an expensive paperweight. I was attempting to do a hard reset. However, due to a bad battery, this has been impossible. I turn on the machine and start tapping f11, but a warning about the battery appears and disrupts that making it impossible to get to the proper screen.  If not for the Windows updates eating up the hard drive, it would still work as long as it's plugged in,  bad battery or not.  Is there a way around the stupid message or a way to kill it? I will not be buying another Stream. We've loaded no programs on it. It was just for web browsing and watching Netflix.

So I have the HP Stream Notebook and it's been working all well and fine. However I was going to give the computer to a friend and wanted to perform a reboot so he can receive the laptop all "new" and clean. Also my microsoft email got hacked and I never was able to recover it so being able to log in to the laptop was kind of a no go. However when I tried to perform a reset and wipe all the files the computer said it was unable to. I can't even see the log in option anymore it just displays HP and a black screen. Only thing I could do is turn it on and press F11 to see the troubleshooting menu, but everytime I try to reset it still won't work, it goes up to 37% and then it says it was unsuccessful with rebooting the laptop. I can't return it since there's no warranty but is there any hope for my laptop? This friend really needed it...

Some options: Press the F11 key when powering up to attempt running the recovery utility.Order the recovery media from HP and boot from that. I am not sure what recovery program you downloaded, I do not believe the recovery media from HP is available for download? You could also try a fresh install of Windows 10, instructions are here.

Hi,I would perform a clean install of Windows 10. You can get a free copy directly from Microsoft by downloading media creation tool and running. You will need to do this on another computer and choose when you have launched media creation tool " To install on another PC". Create a bootable USB drive with the same edition of Windows 10 already installed on the computer which is not working. You will need 4GB pendrive.  https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows10 You will need to change boot order in Bios and boot the PC from Pendrive and install Windows 10. I always prefer a clean install on my PCs. Windows 10 will automatically activate once installed and connected to internet.  Let me know if you need further help,David

Assuming that Windows 10 was pre-installed on this PC then the Windows Product Key is on a chip on the motherboard, so it will be automatically inserted when you reinstall Windows 10. That purchase to which you linked looks good, or you could download the .iso and create your own bootable install-able DVD or USB flash drive--see Microsoft Software Recovery.

Acer normally has a click here to begin that process under a certain subdirectory. Because my Acers no longer carry that hidden partition or the acess menu -- I can't remember where that menu was. c:\program files or c:\program files (x86) might be places to start, if such have not been overwritten yet.

I have tried doing a normal factory reset and have tried downloading windows 10 as an installable media from their website onto a flash drive and in both cases I kept getting an message saying an error has occured and no changes were made. My laptop has been running at 100% disk usage for the past few weeks and is extremely difficult to get much work done because it's so slow. I have trieddoing the disk scan using cmd that Ive seen on a few other forums and after it completes it says that corrupt files were found but couldnt be repaired. Even when I turn my laptop off an error also pops up and I usually have to click "ok" before it fully shuts down. I have assumed it was some sort of virus that may be causing this problem so I wanted to factory reset my laptop but every method that I've seen doesn't seem to be workng. If there is some solution I would be grateful because I've speant well over 10 hours trying to fix this problem but to no results. Thank you for reading this.

A:Can't factory reset laptop

Do this,  open the task Manager and look for the application that is using the highest disk resources.Try to disable it Also, open the services pagetap on the keys, Windows+R type services.mscIn here, look for windows update, open this and stop it.set the start proceedure to Manual. This should help in most cases. Also, at the time of pwoer up, press ESC or F2 button on the keyboard to load the UEFI Diagnostics and perform a Hard Drive test.If the Hard Drive is faulty, you may get slow performance as it may take a long time for the hard drive to read and write data. Resulting in 100% Disk usage.

My laptop was originally having only a HDD. But when I went to the shop and bought it, they upgraded it to an SSD and that took a few hours.

My question is, can I factory reset my laptop? Will that harm any installations of my SSD? How do I do it?

A:Factory reset my laptop

A factory reset only resets the software & drivers to the default it was when it left the factory
The drivers would be based on the specified hardware, so you changing any hardware might cause problems. In most cases you can get round that by updating drivers as soon as windows has been reset. BUT with an SSD which uses different drivers, there will be problems.
The factory restore image will install or try to install standard hard disc drivers. That is very likely to result in the computer not booting at all. As far as I can remember W7 and W8 would not have had SSD drivers in a factory restore image because they were so rare at the time. W10 would almost certainly have both SSD & standard HD drivers on the image

Hi and Welcome to TSF!

It sounds as if the recovery drive partition, which holds the recovery files for the Toshiba reset, has been deleted or formatted.

Windows 8 has a built in reinstall of Windows called Reset This PC. Access the Windows settings menu and you can choose to reinstall Windows.

HI Guys

I am trying to factory reset my Iqon Laptop, NOT due to a critical windows error, but I want to start afresh, get rid of everything (old virus' etc) and hopefully make the Laptop run smoother. (ie back to the way I bought it).

These are the steps I have already tried (but please bare in mind, my Internal Disc Drive does not work)

1- Attached External DVD Drive, and put in my Windows XP Re-Installation CD. This came with the laptop.

2- Changed BIOS to load from CD first

3- Pressed F10, F12, F11, F2 in boot up to get to a recovery mode, but only got lists of safe mode and set up etc.

4- Transferred all Installation CD data to a USB Memory Stick and changed BIOS to USB first.

But nothing seems to work. Windows just always seems to start up.

The closet I have got is to go into the files on the recovery disc and launch it from windows, but this gets 1/2 way through something and then stops.

Also when I try with the USB stick, windows does not launch, but nothing happens, black screen.

Sorry for the long explanation, but wanted to say what I have already tried.

Any help will be much appreciated.

Cheers

Hello everyone,

I have a Dell Inspiron which came with Windows 8, a few months after I purchased it I had some issues with BSOD and even though I tried various things on it I couldn't fix it. My only solution was to give to a friend who installed different but original Windows on it.

A year later, my laptop has new problem where when I press the power button it will reach the Windows logo and then shuts down. Only on the second try will it fully start and it takes a long time..

I tried restoring, refreshing and resetting my Windows but none worked..because they could not be completed. After hours and hours of waiting to reach a certain % it would suddenly stop and say that there was an error so the process could not be completed.

At this point I am not sure what to do. I would like to install back my original factory Windows, but I am not sure whether it is possible and how.

Sorry for the long post and thank you very much!

I bought a new Laptop (W7V75UA) last week. Used it once and it worked OK.  A few days later when I turned it on to boot it came up with a blue screen saying there were errors and to reboot.  I did but it keeps doing the same thing over and over.  I can't boot to desktop.  I want to reset it back to factory settings like I could with my old DELL by pressing F11 at at startup.  That doesn't work now.  It says I have to insert disks.  HP didn't give me disks.  What can I do?  Thank you.

A:How to reset laptop back to factory

The HP Recovery Manager that would allow you to run a factory image recovery would be in one of two places.  The first place is on the hard disk and can usually be accessed from the startup menu. Press the power button and immediately tap the Esc key. That should invoke a startup menu. One of the Startup menu choices should be F11 (System Recovery)   The second place is on the  USB Recovery media that you should have created by now. The most highly recommended type of media is a USB flash drive, not recordable media (DVD media). You can boot from the media when it is plugged into a USB port and access the HP Recovery Manager. If you did not create recovery media and cannot access the System Recovery from the Startup menu,  then contacting HP and ordering recovery media is likely to be your best option.

But it should since that just blocks changing BIOS settings. If you want more help we will need the model number and version of Windows

Hi guys,

I recently got my old gaming laptop repaired (it has a dodgy charging port that has broken 3 times now). It had been sitting gathering dust for over a year but i fancied playing Pillars of eternity.

Got the thing repaired and decided to do a factory reset as it was full of crap i don't use and wanted to start from scratch. However, after the reset everything seems incredibly slow and unresponsive. Ive run various virus checkers and programs to check the memory and hdd but everything comes up fine? I'm not sure what else to look at.
Curiously, games (such as Pillars of Eternity or Chivalry) seem to run fine but have unbearable load times.
If anyone has an idea of what to do next i would greatly appreciate it.

A:How do I factory reset my Dell laptop?

If the hard drive has a Recovery Partition in Disk Managment you may be able to get it to boot using the bootable version of Partition Wizard and setting the Recovery Partition as Active. You need to burn the iso file with either Imgburn or Isoburner. Reboot the computer and the Recovery Partition may boot but sometimes this workaround does not work. When you set the Recovery Partition as Active make sure your System Partition is not also set to Active. If this does not work in order to get the computer to boot back to XP change your System Partition to Active.

So I'm trying to factory reset my laptop to no avail. I am trying to do it through windows PC settings but the app will not open and instead, it gives me an error. I have uploaded the screenshot with the error. I'm unsure if its malware or something but I really want to reset everything.

My internet has been super slow and we already had a tech guy come in from my ISP which they found something but are unsure if its what's causing my incredibly slow speed. I'd rather just try and figure out if its something in my computer (I've tried running a few things that takes a long time to download but they had not detected anything).

I have a windows 10 HP laptop. I was factory resetting it and my fiance accidently unplugged it. It wasn't charged so it died. Now every time I turn on my laptop it goes back to the installing windows thing, but it is stuck on 64% and when it shows it for a second it restarts the whole process again. I called the HP to help, but the guy said to just wait it out, but it's been doing the same thing for days now. Is there anyway to fix this?

If you didn't create Recovery Media to boot from call HP and order it.

Hi, I have a thinkpad yoga s1 - 12.5 size, 8gb ram, core i5 - currently on windows 8.1I had various issues with wifi, graphics etc... which led me to factory resetting the laptop with the recovery cd's which came with the laptop . When now looking at the system information from control panel it is displaying the wrong processor and ram information (core i3 and 4gb. Since ressetting the time is also displayed wrong. From task manager the ram is also displayed at 4gb. How do i resolve this please? I have done all the windows updates, however there is one update from 'lenovo system update 5' which fails to download, which is a Thinkpad bios update non-vpro. Appriciate all the help.

A:Factory reset laptop, now have new problem.

I have a dell inspiron 1000. Older model, runs windows xp. I just simply want to reset to factory settings but am not sure of what key combonation to use. Ive called dell, they wont help because my warranty is up and they asked me to pay 50 dollars for a month warranty. Id much rather donate such an amount to someone more grateful. Also being that it is a laptop it also is having a battery recalibration problem, wondering if it needs a new battery or if thats even possible. Starting to feel completly helpless with these simple problems, if anyone could help id be forever grateful.

Hello
recently i upgraded my acer laptop to windows 10 .After using for a week and so i starting having problems with it my disk usage started showing 100% although i was not doing any task.
so i decided to switch back to my original windows 7 through acer e-recovery management . Now the issue is that i can not perform factory reset . when ever i click on that i generally get an error that i need to clean all my files from hard disk as it will not perform the task , although i have no files on my laptop as i took a backup of my files and deleted them from the laptop.
I am unable to understand what is the issue

A:How to i reset my laptop to factory setting

The process is different among the different brands and not having an Acer can't advise as to what theirs is. However, if you have nothing on it you want to keep you should be able to continue with a full factory restore, should be a prompt to do so. I've found in a similar situation that having made the discs when prompted was easier than doing it from a backup process.
