I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hello all!

I am a rook to this forum but somewhat knowledgeable with computers. I seem to be having trouble with our eMachines T2385 computer. I personally hate eMachines and will never buy one. However, this PC was given to us by my mother-in-law because they couldn't get it to work. They said it wouldn't power up anymore and they said that if I can fix it, we can keep it. I thought it would be nice to fix and give to our kids to have a computer that they can play games on. Nothing fancy.

Since it was a powering up issue, I figured it would be a power supply issue. I was right and wrong at the same time. I took my power supply from my PC and put it inside the eMachines and it does power up. However, some strange things seem to be happening.

1) As soon as I plug the power cord from the wall into the power supply, the computer automatically powers up. I don't push the power button whatsoever. I even hold the power button in to power the PC down and it does not respond. It doesn't power down. The only way I get it to power down is by flipping the switch on the back of the power supply.

2) The old power supply got no response from hitting the power button. No fans turning. Nothing. The power supply I put in does get a response. The CPU fan kicks on. The power supply fan kicks on. The HDD powers up. But nothing comes up on the monitor. It remains blank.

I have tried unplugging the power to the PC and holding the power but... Read more

A:eMachines T2385 power button blinks rapidly

Two observations I can make from this.

In 1. I would say the power button is jammed and making a constant contact as this would cause it to start without being pressed.

In 2. That the old power supply has failed.

You would need to dissasemble the machine to test the power button with a test meter and also use a test meter on the old power supply to confirm it has no output.

Clearing the fault on the power button may get the machine going.

New TP X230, running Win 8 Pro (clean install).I have power options set to "Do Nothing" if the lid is closed, but to put the unit to sleep if I press the Power or Sleep button. (I don't know that the computer has a sleep button, so here I am referring to the power button.)The power button works to turn the unit on, including to wake it from sleep. (So I don't think there is a hardware problem with it.)But with the computer running, if I press the sleep button nothing happens at all, although I have it set to put the computer to sleep. What might be going wrong?  (And is there a sleep button?)

A:Power Button won't put my X230 to Sleep!

Hi, maiki
Yes, there is a sleep button. Depending on the behavior of your Fn keys, then you will either press Fn + F4 or simply F4 to put the machine to sleep. I would try to create a new power plan and have the same settings to see if you can get the proper power button behavior.
Hope it helps,

It doesn't spring back like the other keys and pressing it has no affect. My laptop is under warenty so I plan on contacting the store I bought it in about a repair but I'm wondering is there any way for me to use the laptop in the meantime? Does anyone know a way to turn the laptop on without using the power key?

Hello, I'm experiencing some issues with my ThinkPad x230For quite sometime laptop doesn't go into sleep mode when lid is closed like also after inactivity time.In both situations computer behaves the same, power lamp is slowly flashing and wifi light is still on (on closed lid both battery and "moon" are on), while fans are constantly working without break. It doesn't matter if it's on battery, without it, plugged or without plug.Situation also is dificult when it comes to shutting down, pc doesn't turn off it hangs on state when power button flashes constantly.Restart is also a lottery, sometimes it does, and sometimes it doesn't restart so it becomes difficult to perform updates that require restart.Device manager doesn't show any missing drivers. My laptop is Intel i5-3320M, 16gb RAM, Windows 10 64-bit.I'm terribly sorry if it's some lame post but I tried couple solutions to solve this issue, but none helped... Or maybe I'm just not looking right.

My g570 laptop is 4 years old, so probably time for a new one...BUT I'd like to get some more life out of this if I could.  Currently I'm running only on battery power. The power button (upper left right above the F1 key) is solid white however when I plug it in...it'll start charging for about 10 seconds and then it stops charging and the power button starts flashing white.  I've tried the shutting down, taking out the battery and pressing the power button and also holding the button to discharge. Still the same outcome. I've also tried turning it on with the battery removed and just the AC power source and it turns out and makes it past the Lenovo splash screen but loses power before getting to the windows loading screen.  Any other suggestions? Or should I just assume the charging circuit on the motherboard has failed and I should rescue my data while I can?

Greetings all, Shaun here, new to the forum.
Thought I would post this, so someone somewhere may see it one day, and it may help them. Also, maybe someone here has an idea as to what may be causing this, as I don't believe i have fixed the underlying issue, just allowed myself to continue using my machine for the time being.
So, got up this morning, made my coffee, went to the desktop - Dell Dimension 9150. Hit the power button, NOTHING. Looked at the button, and it was flashing amber, probably once every 4-5 seconds.
Great. Opened it up, checked all connections. Unplugged, held power button for 20 seconds or so, until the green LED on the MB went off. Unplugged all peripherals, plugged back in, same deal.
Opened up spare, non working PC, that has a known good power supply (700 watt), threw that into the Dell. Sane deal. Started reading different forums. Decided to try jumping the green wire on the main power cable (24 pin), WHILE PC IS PLUGGED IN. I found, that as long as I would hold the jumper into the green / black wires, it would start the fans up, everything sounded like it was starting up. Problem is, I was nervous, as I didn't know if this was going to damage anything, so i didn't want to sit there and hold it for any longer than I needed to. Well, as soon as I took out the jumper, the PC would go right back to being OFF, indefinitely.

I have a 3-4 year old Compaq Presario SR2017CL desktop and recently (maybe a month or so ago) the power-on button (green) began flashing when the computer goes into hibernation. I saw this a year or so ago and there was usually an update to Adobe, Microsoft, iTunes, etc. that needed installing. I've checked all those and can't find anything to explain the infernal blinking! I even downloaded an update to the BIOS and that didn't do any good, either. Can you think of any reason for the light to blink? It's actually the lighted power on button and not an indicator inside the box. Other recent changes I've made to the system: removed Norton Antivirus using the registry since there was no uninstall for the program (also a puzzle to me????) and uninstalled my Kodak printer for reasons I won't go into right now. Would appreciate and help you can give.

My X1 carbon (Generation 2) power button flashing continuously.  The current battery even though it says 100% it drains in 40 minutes, then keep getting battery is very low (even though AC power cable is plugged in).  I have to shut down and leave the AC power cable plugged in to charge the battery again.  It takes a couple of hours to charge 100% and if I start using it drains in 40 minutes (only browsing lightly).  So, I bought a new battery, replaced it, when I turn on the power, it says the battery is critically low and immediately shut down.  I left an AC power cable plugged in to charge the new battery for 10~12 hours, still unable to boot with a new battery, but able to use with old battery for 40 minutes per every 100% charge with power button keep flashing.  Any help/suggestion?

No change. I have openned laptop and disconnected SSD, Wireless card, ROM battery, fan, speakers etc testing and no difference. I have tried to discharge by removing all power and and tapping power button 10 times and hold in for 30 seconds. No change.  I find it strange that 2 identical laptops would suffer the same issue at the same time?? Looking on internet - this looks like hugh problem that maybe linked to the motherboard issues on this make and model.I have called Lenovo and since out of warranty - sorry. So please help if anyone has any other ideas to try. Thank you in advance

Hello Dear Lenovo community!  I have an issue that maybe anyone can help me with. I have Lenovo B50-30 Serial:CB34504693. It's about 4th year of usage and perfect so far, but approximately these 2 months I noticed power button starts flashing all of a sudden. Upon flashing battery stop charging. I was unpluging and pluging back again and it worked normal. Unfortunately during these two month this occured more and more often and it needed to do plug operations after every hour, after every half hours, after every 15 minutes and now it's dead. As soon as I plug charger power button immadiately starts flashing. I thought it was battery first, but laptop turned off after couple of mniutes working on charger without battery.  I noticef this was occuring during gaming on laptop. Generaly DOTA 2. CPU temperature maximum heat was 82 and video card 74-76. I tried different chargers result is the same. I tried different battery result is the same. I tried power shut down, like removing battery and pushing power button for 60 seconds, but no possitive result. Here's the vide on my google drive of laptop and how it behaves. https://drive.google.com/file/d/1308AVwDsP9pt4hxM0zVOny68e_H5UYPW/view?fbclid=IwAR2GseZw5-cZjC291CZI... Please share with your opinion hoqw can I fix this.  Thanks in advance.

I just received my replacment AC adaptor. I put my battery back in and plugged the laptop in, but when i push the power button the battery indicator light flashes red four times. There are no lights on. Does this mean my battery is fried. Originally i thought the jack needed replaced, but the guy told me it was just my cord which Best Buy confirmed. So after getting the new cord i have this new problem. Usally there is a battery indicator light on when the battery is in and it is plugged in. I tryed taking out the battery, unplugging it and holding the power button down, but that didnt work. I also tryed it without the battery in. Is my battery just bad? Thanks for any help.

Thank you,

Question: Is my old Motorola Surfboard SB5100 Modem the problem?
The problem: When browsing, if I choose to view a video clip on some sites, my PCACTIVITY led starts to flash rapidly and then persists. I understand this means that data is being exchanged. The problem is that after I have stopped viewing the clip, the rapid flashing continues for a long while - even if I do no further browsing. If I do a speedtest during the continuing flashing, I get poor results compared with a test when the led flashes only occasionally. Is my modem unable to restore itself to the relatively quiescent state? Should I replace it?

The ISP tested my cable line, connections, and signal strength. All are OK.

A:Solved: Rapidly Flashing PCACTIVITY Persists

No one has replied; so maybe I don't have a problem with my modem, computer, or iSP.

Maybe the problem is website dependent. I am towards that answer, because some websites from which I watch flash video clips, youtube.com, for example, seem to end the data exchanges when the clip has ended. The PCACTIVITY led stops the rapid flashing. Other sites seem to continue the data "handshaking" even after I leave the website. That is my conclusion. The answer, then, is to avoid the websites that don't let go. I don't know if this makes any technical sense, but lacking any suggestions from TSG I'll be content with my own answer.

I hope this helps someone else who has observed the same condition. I am marking this "Solved."

I have a Dell Inspiron 5758.  I've had it since October of 2015. I've never had a problem with the battery, I run it on AC power and battery pretty consistently.
Just yesterday, I noticed that the battery indicator light was rapidly flashing orange and the laptop also powers down when I unplug the AC adapter.
The battery icon says it's at 67% (plugged in, not charging). I ran a couple tests:
1. Diagnostic test on Dell.com, under Product Support. Just gave me a warning icon for battery.
2. Dell Power Manager says "Error" under battery health.
I was reading that sometimes a BIOS update can fix this? I'm just confused as I've owned a couple Dell computers in the past and have NEVER had this issue before.
I run Adobe programs quite often, so I'm wondering if this performance could drain the battery life?
Any insight is appreciated.

I recently got my new X1 Yoga and had to realize, that it wont wake up after the screen goes dark by pressing the power button. Only pressing a key on the keyboard made it wake up, which is a total pain in the ass in tablet mode, as having to fold it back completely defeats the purpose of having a tablet. After some investigation I found out, that this only happens when runnning on battery and it seems to be a regression, since it's only not working with BIOS 1.29 and 1.30. I've tried downgrading to 1.12 and it works, still working in 1.27. Any suggestions?

My X1 Tablet wil no longer react to the power button, meaning I cannot press it to put the tablet to sleep. What's worse, if I put the tablet to sleep from the start button, then the power button cannot wake it up. However, if the tablet is powered off, the power button works fine, so it seems to be a software issue. I've all the various firmwares, windows 10 is up to date as of today and the BIOS settings doesn't seem to have any options for this. Has anyone else experienced this and did you find a solution?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

A:No power, no lights but green light on power supply blinks rapidly

Remove the laptops battery and try the AC power only. If the green light does the same, it still could only be a bad AC adapter, or at worst, a shorted laptop motherboard

For some reason on my HP wireless mouse doesn't drag correctly. After experimenting with the mouse I found out it doesn't even hold down at all, it just sends the click signal over and over like the rapid fire mods do on an Xbox 360. Any way to fix this? I just returned the mouse and got a new one that has the same problem.

A:Mouse not dragging, rapidly sends click when button held down.

Did you try going to the Control Panel/Mouse and play around with the Mouse adjustment there?
Are your drivers up to date?
