Preferred Solution: Application cannot be executed Do you want to activate your antivirus software now?

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

A: Application cannot be executed Do you want to activate your antivirus software now?

Please download Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware from Here.

Double Click mbam-setup.exe to install the application.Make sure a checkmark is placed next to Update Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware and Launch Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware, then click Finish.
If an update is found, it will download and install the latest version.
Once the program has loaded, select "Perform Quick Scan", then click Scan.
The scan may take some time to finish,so please be patient.
When the scan is complete, click OK, then Show Results to view the results.
Make sure that everything is checked, and click Remove Selected.
When disinfection is completed, a log will open in Notepad and you may be prompted to Restart.(See Extra Note)
The log is automatically saved by MBAM and can be viewed by clicking the Logs tab in MBAM.
Copy&Paste the entire report in your next reply.

Extra Note:

If MBAM encounters a file that is difficult to remove, you will be presented with 1 of 2 prompts, click OK to either and let MBAM proceed with the disinfection process. If asked to restart the computer, please do so immediatly.

So basically today I went on some random website (meebo.com) that I regularly use to chat. A few moments after that, some virus scanner comes up and begins to scan my computer. I quickly close it because I know it's probably some Spyware... but I think it was too late. Soon after all this other "antivirus" software began to start scanning on my computer and I quickly closed them all. But now about every four or five seconds a windows "Security Warning" pops up on my computer and tells me that I cannot execute an application--usually it's "wuauclt.exe" And an Antivirus software alert also pops up on the bottom right hand of my screen telling me that a trojan is attempting to infect my computer. Also, internet explorer windows pop up every couple of minutes attempting to open up viagra or other porno websites.I've seen the rules for creating posts, but I absolutely cannot open any sort of application on my computer because every time I try to open an app, Security Warnings pop up on my computer telling me the application is infected and cannot be opened. I've already tried opening up Safe Mode and doing a virus scan there to no avail--hell I can't even open up minesweeper. Please help. I use this computer to work and this is incredibly inconvenient.edit: Flash, java and all the other plugins websites require to run do not work as well.edit2: I've read through some threads on this site about the process in removing this spywa... A lot of users have the same case as me I think - malware trying to make me activate some sorta anti-spyware program or something, random lewd internet pop-ups, warnings, also the task bar has like 500 windows update icons. There are two windows that I can't move - one says ATTENTION! SPYWARE ALERT! with a shield and all that, and the other says Antivirus Software Alert and is in the bottom right hand corner. They both have that windows shield on the bar where theres usually an X and all that, and both bars are red. Also that little windows error thing that has the "application cannot be executed..."

Good morning.

For some reason my system has gone haywire. I am having the IE browswer opening up on random porn sites. I keep getting security alerts from something that keeps telling me files are infected and that I need to install some kind of antivirus software. The software keeps indicating the software needs to be activated. The software will not close at all it stays in the system tray. I can not get this alert to shut down. I keep getting a message that a trojan is attacking my system asking if I want to block it. I have had files listed as infected such as wuauclt.exe. I keep getting security center opening up indicating the firewall and anti virus is activated.

Any help you can provide would be greatly appreciated. I tried running nortons but nothing is happening.

Thank you

I have a Dell Computer with Windows XP Home Version. Two days ago my computer began displaying the following message when I attempted to run the virus scan: Application cannot be executed. The file "___.exe" is infected. Do you want to activate your antivirus software now?". Of course when I attempt to run the anti-virus software it opens into a window from a Magic Software company attempting to sell me an anti virus program. I also get repeated pop-ups in the lower right hand corner stating: Anti Virus System Pro Alert. Infiltration Alert. Your computer is being attacked by an Internet Virus. It could be a password-stealing attack, a trojan-dropper or similiar. Details: Attack from "IP address", port XXXX, Attacked Port: XXXX, Threat: XXXX Do you want to block this attack?"

I am running McAfee Anti-virus and I cannot initialize it. I was able to Google the error and attempted to download and initialize Combofix, but it would not start giving me the same error. Any suggestions?

A:Application Cannot be executed.

I am having what appears to be the same exact problem but with one additional thing that I want to mention. When Internet Explorer is opened, the system regularly (every few minutes) opens a new tab/window from one of the following websites: adult.com, porno.com, porno.org or Viagara.

I have run Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware once and it didn't seem to work. I am trying it again and I guess it will find the same number of objects infected as last time (20+). It must be run just after I reboot or else nothing will open. Instead, I get the following dialog box: "Application cannot be executed. The file filename.exe is infected. Do you want to activate your antivirus software now?"

My operating system is Windows XP. Any help is greatly appreciated.
Thank you.

I need help and patience. I am not very computer savvy.

I am receiving a steady stream of security warnings, one right after the other. The warnings alternate.

"Application cannot be executed. The file wuauclt.exe OR googletoolbaruser_32.exe OR searchprotocolhost.exe is infected. Do you want to activate your antivirus software now?"

I can click yes or no. I clicked yes once, nothing happened. Clicking no just continues the repetitive warnings as listed above.

When the warnings started I was using the anti-virus that comes standard with Comcast service. I ran a scan and Comcast found no infected files. I then purchased Norton since my trial was expired. I ran a fill scan and had seven infected files all were labeled six of them were "Trojan Horse" and one was "Trojan.FakeAV". Norton said all files were successfully removed but it did not fix the security warning pop ups.

Hello there Welcome to the TSG Forums.
My name is NeonFx. I'll be glad to help you with your computer problems. Logs can take some time to research, so please be patient with me.
Please note the following:

The fixes are specific to your problem and should only be used on this machine.
Please continue to review my answers until I tell you your machine appears to be clean. Absence of symptoms does not necessarily mean that the system is completely clean.
It's often worth reading through these instructions and printing them for ease of reference. I may ask you to boot into Safe Mode where you will be unable to follow my instructions online.
If you don't know or understand something, please don't hesitate to say or ask!! It's better to be sure and safe than sorry.
Please refrain from doing any fixing of your own while I am assisting you with this problem. I need to keep track of what is going on as the order in which we do things can often be important.
If this is a company owned system or a work computer let me know.
Please reply to this thread. Do not start a new topic.

Step 1
Please download exeHelper to your desktop.
Double-click on exeHelper.com to run the fix.
A black window should pop up, press any key to close once the fix is completed.

Hello and welcome to TSF.

We want all our members to perform the steps outlined in the link given below, before posting for assistance. There's a sticky at the top of this forum, and a

link at the top of each page.

Please follow our pre-posting process outlined here:

After running through all the steps, you shall have a proper set of logs. Please post them in a new topic, as this one shall be closed.

The following tool will help running them if you're not able to.

If you have an active internet connection, copy/paste the links below into your browser, don't click them or the rogue might redirect. If you don't have an active internet connection, download the tools from another machine, and transfer them to the affected machine via USB flash drive.

Please download and run the following tool to help allow other programs to run. (courtesy of BleepingComputer.com)

There are 4 different versions. If one of them won't run then download and try to run the other one. You only need to get one of them to run, not all of them.

It seems my computer has been taken over. When I start up I get the following:

Security Warning
===================================================================
Application cannot be executed. The file explorer.exe is infected.
Do you want to activate your anitivirus protection now?
===================================================================

Also tried to reboot and get to safe mode but F9 not getting me there....just goes on with start-up.

Also tried to verify my firewall was active as in virus forum instructions by clicking Run and enetering control, but when I hit enter, came up with same security warning.

Now a new activate your spyware alert, (commercial looking pop-up) has come on and my computer is locked up. Mouse frozen, cannot do anything.

EDIT: Duh, booted in safe mode using the proper F8 but nothing loads....black screen with safe mode in all the corners but no icons, etc.

EDIT 2: Icons have now appeared 40 minutes later
How should I proceed. THANKS!!!!!

I am not very good with computers, I do not have a clue what I'm doing, so I'm hoping I can describe my problem well enough to be able to get some help because this is making me nuts.
Every 30-45 seconds I get a pop up on my screen telling me that "Application Cannot be executed. The file wuauclt.exe is infected. Do you want to activate your antivirus software now?" The first time I encountered this this problem was after something popped up saying it was doing a virus scan. This isn't my computer, it belongs to my ex husband who is stationed in Japan right now and I've only had it for a month. When the scan popped up it asked me if I wanted delete certain things, I clicked no, because I was going to ask him first and then do it at a later time if it was something he did in fact have installed on the computer. Next thing I know my computer went nuts. First it's the security warning every 30 seconds, then it pops up with something telling me to buy anti virus software from windows something rather... then on occasion it pops up with a porn site, and an ad for viagra... I don't know what to do. I can't do anything on this computer right now and I'm worried he's going to think I broke it and get mad at me. PLEASE help?

A:"Application Cannot Be Executed"

I just thought I'd add an update on my computer. I turned it off for a couple of days because I was scared to use it. I turned it back on last night, and for some reason or another, it's totally fine. I've had it on all day and not a single pop up. I'm not sure what happened, I'm calling it a miracle lol, the computer healed it's self. But everything is fine with it now.

Hey all.

Been recently trying to fix a friend's laptop. Keep running into an error saying something along the lines of "This application cannot be executed. The file ****.exe is infected. Run anti-virus software now?"

I am also constantly getting a popup for something called "Anti-Virus Soft", which will not go away either.

I've tried the following, with no luck:

Malwarebytes - Can't update however, since I can only run in safe mode.
Spybot
AVG

ComboFix

What else can I do? Any help is appreciated.

Hi. In the past 3 days I've been using my computer and small things such as Google search redirections (to completely different sites) have been occuring. When I came back from college yesterday, my computer was completely messed up.Firstly, adult websites pop up now and then. On top of that, a malicious program called AntiVirus Soft has installed itself onto my computer and there is no way of closing it. It keeps coming up with messages in the windows tab saying stuff like "Windows Security Alert". Additionally, whenever I try opening something, the bleep hits the fan and a message pops up titled "Security Warning" which states that the:"Application cannot be executed. The file ******* is infected.Do you want to activate your antivirus software now? When I click the Yes option in that box, it takes me to the AntiVirus Soft website which is in the spoiler below (but I wouldn't recommend visiting it in case it is also malicious...).

Also, internet explorer windows pop up every couple of minutes attempting to open up viagra or other porno websites.

I've seen the rules for creating posts, but I absolutely cannot open any sort of application on my computer because every time I try to open an app, Security Warnings pop up on my computer telling me the application is infected and cannot be opened. I've already tried opening up Safe Mode and doing a virus scan there to no avail--hell I can't even open up minesweeper.

Please help. I use this computer to work and this is incredibly inconvenient.

Hello there, my name is Elliot and I am running a relatively high powered laptop on Windows Vista. Recently I have had an issue, by which every time I go to open an application - other than Mozilla Firefox(?!) - it tells me that "Application cannot be executed. The file (programshortname).exe is infected. Do you want to activate your antivirus software now?". I then am greeted by a "Windows Security Alert" balloon, that reminds me that the computer is infected. Further, I then get a "Antivirus software alert" from a program I have, for a fact, never installed called Security Suite that tells me of an Infiltration Alert, and alleged 'details' of it such as the IP I am being attacked from and a port number. Furthermore, I receive another Antivirus Software Alert from the same program I have never installed in the center of the screen, headed in "vunerabilities found." Then, rather weirdly, if I leave it long enough without closing these "security alerts" I am brought to an ADULT website, I pray you understand. Please help me to fix my computer, I am desperate! Thanks,Elliot

Running Windows XP. I suddenly started getting Windows "bubble" pop-up as follows:

Windows Security Alert - Windows reports that computer is infected. Antivirus software helps to protect your computer against viruses and other security threats. Click here for the scan you computer. Your system might be at risk now.
I'm pretty certain this is a bogus message due to the grammar errors and such. I have not "clicked here" as the prompt suggests.

I had AVG previously installed and running regularly, but when I attempt to run it I get the following:

Application cannot be executed. The file xxxx is infected. Do you want to activate your antivirus software now?
Again, I'm confident this is a bogus message. I have always clicked "No" in response to this.
I downloaded Malwarebytes on another PC and installed from a USB stick it onto the infected one. It installed, but when I attempt to run it, I get the same message.
I attempted to call up the Windows Task Manager to see if anything rogue was running. When I press control-alt-delete, the Task Manager pops up for a second, then disappears and I get the "Application cannot be executed" error.
Looking for suggestions as to how to best proceed.

Thanks.

I got some kind of virus that would not let me access Task Manager, nor would it let me start up in safemode with f8 at boot. It kept a small red dot with a white X on my system process bar and constantly asked me to download antispyware. It also sucked my computer to a standstill. I couldnt access the internet on the computer because it was at 100% in processes. So I went into msconfig inside windows and set my boot to diagnostic so I could get into safemode. But i couldnt get onto the internet from there nor could i use my usb ports to transfer files. So i downloaded the GMER scan file and the Combofix scan file onto a usb chip from another computer and rebooted into normal mode and drug the two files onto my desktop then went back to msconfig and got into safe mode again. This is the only way i could scan anything because of the performance. the gmer scan still took 3 hours and the text file is attached. then i tried the combofix scan but couldnt install the resolution console because i couldnt access the internet. so i perfomed the scan anyway. it also took 3 hours and rebooted several times on its own. this text file is also attached. now my computer is almost fixed. it boots fine, accesses task manager, doesn't have popups but...it is still running at 100%. thru task mgr i found two files using 50% each. they are "Transferagent.exe" and "IntuitsyncManager.exe". once i stop these processes everything is fine until i reboot. Hello all

First time here so please bear with me. I am trying to fix a friend's Vista laptop. When booted up shortly after it receives the following popup (in the middle of the screen):

Security Warning: Application cannot be executed. The file xxx is infected. Do you want to activate your antivirus software now?

In the bottom right of the screen above the system tray two more popups. 1) same as above 2) Antivirus software alert stating "your computer is being attacked by an internet virus. It could be a password-stealing attack, a trojan - dropper or similar. Details: attack from IP-address xxx, port 60552. Attacked port: 55557. Threat BankerFox.a Do you want to block this attack.

In normal windows mode, nothing can be done (well minimal). I can't get any webpage to load. However, if I let the above messages stay up, shortly after tons of web page windows will come up - all with various porn/viagra sites.

This laptop does have an OLD version of Kaspersky security suite. I tried to manually update the definitions but it wouldn't let me (I believe because the trial version it was on expired). I tried to remove Kaspersky but nothing happens when I try. I can't pull up task manager.

I can get into Safe mode and don't receive all these popups, but not alot I can do in safe mode. I can't remove Kaspersky there, says I must do in normal mode.

I did download Microsoft Malware tool on a thumb drive from another computer and run it... Read more

Hi, did you try to use safe mode and see if that allows you to access the internet? Would you have the possibility to use a friend/family members computer to download some tools to a flashdrive or CD?

Hi guys! I'm having a terrible time with this virus I've got on my computer. I cannot open any programs other than firefox... well as far as I've seen without a pop up saying "Application cannot be executed the file soandso.exe is infected, do you want to activate your antivirus software?" Clicking no does nothing as does clicking yes. I'm not all that great with computers... obviously or I wouldn't be asking for your help! ;) So if anyone can help me with this I would be so appreciative! Thanks for your time.

Whoops! I didn't know I posted that before I had the logs ready. I had to run in safe mode to open dds and gmer and I came back to make a post and seen I had already made one! Anyway, here they are.
