Lenovo Yoga 2 Pro Wifi adapter "disappears" & Volume down button constantly "stickied"

Q: Lenovo Yoga 2 Pro Wifi adapter "disappears" & Volume down button constantly "stickied"

Last year I had the laptop sent to Lenovo to replace my screen because my brightness would not change. Since then, the wifi adapter would "disappear*" randomly, though not often, sand I would have to reinstall the intel WLAN drivers to fix it. I though it wasn't going to be a problem. However, in the past two days, the wifi driver would disappear every time I turn on the laptop. Reinstallation did not bring it back and repairs did not work. I had to resort to using an external wireless adapter. The volume down button seems to be stuck down, not physically but more like it was "stickied".*disappear- the drivers would be missing, not disabled. Device manager does not show a wifi adapter existing.

I recommend downloading and running DAP. It can help sort out any driver and firmware related issues on your system

It's worked out well for many of us in the past.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloaddap.org. (This link will open the download page of DAP so you can save a copy to your computer.)

Hello
I have a Lenovo Yoga 2.
I reset the notebook with the One Key Recovery application.
The notebook has been reset but can not find the WIFI card. It disappeared, it seems that it does not exist. The ethernet icon appears in the bar below the windows and the only possibility is to create a VPN connection. I do not know how to do it ... restoring the notebook with one recovery should not have these problems

My Yoga 13 volume up/volume down buttons (hardware buttons on the side of the unit) were working fine for a few weeks and then all of sudden decided to invert themselves (i.e., in laptop mode, pushing the button closer to me would make volume go UP and pushing the button further away from me would make the volume go DOWN).  Same thing in tablet (landscape orientation with camera on top) and stand modes - pushing the upper button made volume go down and vice versa.  The only time the volume buttons would work logically is in tent mode where pushing the upper button made the volume go up and pushing the lower button made the volume go down (but only by happenstance because the unit is "inverted" and the volume buttons happen to be inverted as well).  I don't recall if these buttons automatically switched orientation when the unit is rotated, but now it's always fixed in the up is down and down is up position in 3 out of 4 modes. Minor annoyance, but an annoyance nonetheless on an expensive new laptop.  Any idea on a fix?

A:Yoga 13 Volume Up Button and Volume Down Button inverted bug/problem

I was about to write back with a snarky email about how the volume button is fixed in one position and the orientation makes most sense in tablet mode and that to expect any more was crazy. I was going to argue how this is no different than any tablet which can be used in reverse landscape mode - the volume control is backwards. I was just about to point you to the manual where I was sure that it would state that the button closest to the front of the keyboard is volume down up.... But then I read page 8 of the User Guide: http://www.lenovo.com/shop/americas/content/user_guides/yoga13_ug_en.pdf Where it clearly labels the volume buttons back to front. So I dont' know. I give up. Your guess is as good as mine. Though orientation specific volume controls might be useful (I bet it would just add to the confusion).

Hello forum people,

I have the following problem on my Toshiba Satellite R850 running Win7 64bit: I decided to change the wireless adapter so I can connect to the 5GHz wifi network my router provides which wasnt possible on the Atheros wireless adapter it came with. I changed it to a Intel Wireless AC 3160- the physical change went quick and without problems and while the adapter is basically working now the problem I'm facing now is that the F8-hotkey function to de-/activate the Wifi and Bluetooth is no longer working. When I press the hotkey button all the different hotkey combinations show up on the upper part of the screen, but now there's only F1-F7 and F9, F8 just went missing. Does anyone have any idea how to get it back?

Thanks in advance and take care

Hi, About a month ago (maybe less) my wifi adapter started acting up, needing to be troubleshooted a couple of times a day, and then failing completely, asking me to plug in an ethernet cable, something I have never needed to do in three and a half years of owning this laptop. (which a hard reset seemed to fix). Since then this has gotten worse and worse, to the point where sometimes I am having to hard reset more than once in a session to get connectivity back, with multiple hard resets in a day. I have tried the following to sort out my machine, all unsuccessful so far: Hard reset (multiple hard resets).Check network drivers are up to dateDownload latest drivers for ralink RT5390R. 802.11bgn wifi adapterdelete and reinstall ralink adapter I am getting quite frustrated with having to constantly switch my laptop off to get internet access (which can't be good for it) Are there any other fixes? I don't really want to have to get a new laptop because other than this, it's pretty good still. Thanks in advance! Also, sorry for not providing more info about my laptop other than make and OS, I wasn't sure what else I would need!

Hi! So my Yoga 2 just turned 2 years old a few days ago and now it's acting up; the volume display keeps going up to max volume and every time I try to mute the laptop it just keeps showing that green bar notification. My touchpad doesn't work (but my mouse does), and if I have a program that has more than one window (i.e. word documents or chrome windows), then it cancels out when I hover towards the window. I know that my up volume button is jammed since every time I try to turn it down it just goes up again. Is it possible to disable my physical volume keys so the jammed button won't register and keep changing the volume?

Hi,

My Dell Studio has just crashed and wont restart. The mute and volume up buttons are flashing and the volume down button is solidly lit. I could not find the diagnostic code when searching the internet. I could find pretty much every other diagnostic code apart from this one.

Any advice would be most welcome.

Thanks,

Andy

A:Dell Studio 1535 wont start. Blinking mute and volume up button, solid volume down button.

Hi Andy,
Welcome to Dell community!
As you have correctly pointed out, the diagnostic code that you have mentioned is not among the codes available to isolate the failure for a Studio 1535 laptop. The closest code is: blinking Mute LED and Volume up LED, and an off Volume down LED which is for USB controller initialization failure. Disconnect any external devices connected and try powering on the computer.
Reseating the memory modules too can help us. Please refer the following link for the Studio 1535 service manual for instructions: http://bit.ly/10PrLgH
If issue persists, the laptop’s motherboard has to be replaced. Refer the following link to check the computer’s warranty status: http://dell.to/10pMa86
If the computer has active warranty, please send me the service tag and registered owner’s name on the computer in a Private Message. To send me a Private Message, click my User name, and then click Start Conversation.

Hey guys, Purchased a yoga 720 two months ago and in the beginning it would drop the WIFI connection maybe once a week. Over the last few days it's been dropping the WIFI connection every 5minutes or so.  After it drops it'll take some minutes to reconnect again unless I go to device manager and disable/enable the network adaptor. I've already tried updating the driver and no difference.I've already set the power plan for the network adaptor to 'maximum performance' and no difference. Surely there has to be a fix or something I can do?

A:YOGA 720 constantly dropping WIFI connection.

Open up your Event Viewer and see if there are any WLAN errors. If there are a lot of them, then Windows update has probably wrecked something.

If that looks normal, download WiFi Scanner from the Windows store and see if one of your neighbors is interfering. If so, and you have a recent dual-band WiFi router, split the bands into different SSIDs, force the router to sit on a 5Ghz channel where there's no interference and force your 720 to connect to your router's 5GHz side only.

If that's still an issue or you don't have a dual-band router, then start looking for things that interfere with WiFi, such as LED lighting, microwave ovens and so forth.

There's another thread going on this if you want to look at that.

After two months, I have reached the end of my rope.Even with the latest driver and BIOS updates, my 730 constantly loses wifi.It can vary from simply saying everything is connected with no connection to connected with no internet to no connections available.A reboot solves the issue for a time, but it will start again.Yes, I have followed every troubleshooting step on the internet with the same results.I have finally lowered myself to looking for a replacement PCI Express Mini Card for Wireless LAN for a brand new computer.  The "white list" is blank under Item 5 which should list compatible WLAN Modules.Tech Support is worthless as they try to blame it on my home wifi.  I have 2 wifi's at home and one at work and the issue persists.I am writing this by tethering my laptop to my phone as this is the only way it will stay connected long enough to post.If anyone knows a compatible WLAN Module aside from the Realtek, please let me know.

I have tried a clean install of Windows 10, updating drivers, etc. Nothing seems to work. Hi all, I have read a lot of similar posts, and yet, my problem remains unsolved. The fan is running constantly at full speed, making a loud hissing nouse, one that it only made when using that dust removal "feature" in the Lenovo OKO app, I presume. Also, I have noted that the battery life has decreased drastically. This fan turning on problem started about a week back, and it disappeared then if I shut down the laptop or an hour or two. Now this is the first thing that I hear every morning, even with storing it in a not-warm and "turned off" state overnight. When the fan is running, the video playback is struggling , and if I play a mp3 song, and scroll using the touchpad or the touchscreen, there is a crackling sound in the speakers. (Update: Video playback also has continuous crackling noise.) This does not happen when the fan is not running (which is becoming a rarety since the last few days). Obviously, this is driving me nuts. Here's a list of things I have tried already. Updated the BIOS to the latest available update on Lenovo website.Checked CPU temperature, hard disk temperature etc. The fan is running continuously even when the CPU and hard disk both are in the 38-40 degrees range. And the CPU is rarely going above 20% usage, as per the task manager and resource monitor.Tried switching between Power Saving, Balanced, Harmony Energy Settings and Performance modes. No luck.Booted into BIOS. Stayed there for... Read more

I have a Lenovo T530 and am using Windows 10 and recently had to replace the keyboard because a few buttons were just plain gone (don't ask). I'm not sure if it's the Lenovo, the keyboard or Windows 10 that are causing these problems, but I am beginning to think it's Windows 10. I apologize in advance for the long post. Despite the keyboard being new and installed and working very well (as is obvious from the fact that I'm typing on it right now), the backlight is not working, even on startup. I made sure when I purchased the keyboard that the backlight was included and there's even that little symbol on the spacebar indicating that it should. While this is not the end of the world, the volume buttons have completely stopped working. I can control the volume on the computer through the keyboard's volume buttons after startup for about a minute, but as soon as I click a single program or open an application or something I can no longer control the volume through the volume buttons. I can still use most of the other hotkey buttons (barring Fn+F5 and Fn+F6, but I never used those even when they did work). I have tried updating a few drivers and uninstalling and reinstalling drivers in multiple times in multiple ways and checking things in BIOS and I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions other than a system restore or something along those lines since I had a similar audio problem on my last keyboard with the audio and it went away with a new windows update. Opened up the case housing the motherboard to get at the power to see if I could jimmy it a little bit because I couldn't turn it on. A while ago I accidentally bumped the 1yr old notebook in its case against the desk and since then was having difficulty turn it on needing a little more effort since the time I bought it. About a 3 weeks ago it wouldn't turn on no matter how hard I tried. When I posted a question on how to deal with the first answer was to open the casing to see if I could get at the button easier. I did that, after getting the smallest phillips screwdriver but wasn't able to get the button to work. It is somehow loose and not connecting. I also noticed that unscrewing the housing unit holding the motherboard might make it easier but I have not expertise in this and I don't want to mess things up. I wonder if anyone could get a help with this ,maybe a schematic showing me the parts of the housing unit so that I can unscrew it safely and not messing everything up or any other solution - short of taking it to a specialist. Any help very much appreciated. Thanks!

This is my first time posting; i was wondering if anyone would help me with my problem. I have a lenovo 3 2in1 14inch yoga series laptop and i have been very pleased with it up until now. Recently I have not been able to power it on with the power button. I think about 6 months ago, while in it's case I accidently bumped the side of it onto a desk, and every since it became increasingly more difficult to turn it on - I've had to apply more and more pressure to turn the  system on. I also noticed it had been more indented and pliable than originally but I gave no importance to it since I could still turn it on. This brings me to about a week ago when I could no longer to turn it on at all no matter how hard i tried. I wonder, short of short of getting another computer and since I have an an expired warranty, if I can find an easier solution to this problem. All possible solutions appreciated. Thank you!

Good Evening,  I recently purchased a Lenovo Erazer x315 for my girlfriend which worked fine for the first week. Now however the Wi-Fi keeps dropping connection, though it shows it?s still connected and she has to manually disconnect and reconnect to the Wi-Fi. It has disconnected her 4 times in the last hour as I've been trying to google solutions. She did the scan via the diagnostics page on this website and nothing failed. We thought it could be her router taking a dump, but her old laptop has been able to maintain a connection throughout her disconnects. The tower is primarily used for Teamspeak, Archeage, Minecraft, YouTube, FB, and a few artsy programs she has. Don?t know if any of that would affect it. I've had my yoga for almost two years now and recently I've been having two issues: 1. The WiFi adapter will sometimes go out and it won't even show up on the device manager. The only "fix" I've found so far is to shut down and turn the computer back on (usually at least a couple of times) until the adapter starts showing up again. I've gone to the bios to check to see if it's showing up when I run the motherboard test and sometimes the PCI slot that it occupies doesn't even show up. I've been having to use a small USB WiFi adapter when the onboard adapter feels like being particularly uncooperative on certain days. 2. At random times (every few hours or so) when the laptop is just sitting on my desk, I will get an auto rotate notification and the screen will change its orientation, go into tablet mode, and disable the mouse and keyboard. Usually the screen will go back to normal after a few seconds, but the keyboard and mouse will still be disabled and the only way to get them both activated again (as far as I know) is to shut down the laptop and then turn it back on. My guess is that these two problems might be related. The reason why I think so is because I had similar issues a year ago with the WiFi adapter frequently not showing up on the device manager. I had the laptop sent in and it turned out to be an issue with the motherboard, which had to be replaced. So my guess is that there's something wrong with the motherboard again, which is affecting both the... Read more

My Yoga 900 of course has that same loud BING! when you adjust the volume using the slider, which I will admit is annoying.  But then I checked and my Dell desktop does as well when adjusting the volume slider using the mouse. In both cases you get the heading "Speakers (Realtek High Definition Audio)" when you bring up the volume slider, so it would seem to be a feature of the Realtek Audio driver.  So the question is, can you find an alternate audio driver, one without the BING!?

Hello everyone,  Since i got my Lenovo Y50, i have been having an issue rarely and i thought it would be better to try and fix it.I have had it on Windows 8.1 and now on Windows 10 also, when i start my computer, WiFi works flawlessly, but if I try and switch to another network on open the WiFi networks tab on the taskbar, it might happen that it kinda "freezes", meaning that it shows either that WiFi networks availalbe or not available but when i click on it nothing happens. I mean it doesnt pop up the select WiFi network window. And also if during this time i try to go to Control Panel -> Network and Sharing Settings it doesn't open it. If i plug a LAN cable in it the internet works fine but the WiFi button still stays the same. Doesn't even change to the cable connection one. Also this sometimes happens when wifi is working but i notice that the icon changed to the above mentioned (WiFi networks availalbe or not available) and when i try clicking on the wifi button nothing pops up, meaning again i cant change the WiFi on disconnect. Funny thing is that every single time this happens, a restart fixes it. Every time so it really doesn't make sense to me and it baffles me that this can happen. I tried reinstalling drivers, looking for stable ones, etc. nothing helps. I will provide a picture with my device manager Network Adapters tab, i hope it helps. Any oppinions are welcome.

Lenovo Yoga 720 15'' touchscreen, Esc and Delete button is not working. I bought Yoga 700 14'' which had some problem which lenovo replaced with Yoga 720 in July 2017.  The one they provide me has warranty from 07/18/2017 to 07/19/2017 and I never was aware of that. I was in assumption that I will be having warranty for one year and I will get the warranty extended before expiration but I didn't got the chance to extend it and now things are not working. If some one can help me if these things can be resolved.

Hello, recently I made a clean installation of Windows 10 (including formatting all my drives) and I can not find a driver that would make my airplane mode button work (Fn + F7). Can anyone send me a link, or suggest something? I did not find it in the Lenovo support, nor on Google.

I just received my new lenovo yoga 920 and found out that one keyboard button (letter "i") is not as sensitive as other keyboard buttons. I have to press harder and repeteadly, is there any solution to this? Thanks WA

A:Lenovo yoga 920 specific keyboard button not sensitive

I figure out that I cannot press around the button's corner, have to be exactly on the middle of the button to get letter "i" showed up. I still wonder, what's the issue

Hi Everyone  I have a Yoga 500 141BD (model number: 80N400PNUK) which has a broken power button. It became recessed after being pushed in too vigorously (not by myself I may add) and although I managed to pop it back out, it has obviously lost connection and was wondering how I would go about replacing the button. Would this require work on the motherboard itself or require a new part? I would be greatful for any advice, Thank you Lesley.Note: I am aware that this model of laptop can be switched on using a paper clip, however I would like to resolve the issue instead of using an alternative method.
