Hi,
I have a HTML page contains normal paragraph text content of 45 MB size. When i try to open it in IE, it is consuming around 1GB of memory and unable to open the file, crashes sometimes. Is the behavior is expected or is there any settings in
IE to open large HTML file.
Thanks,
Bala
I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.
I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.
You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hi,
We have a COM dll which when embedded in html file and ran on Internet Explorer (Windows 7) was working fine. We were able to make call to the APIs exposed by the COM dll.
But recently, we installed the windows updates namely
KB3074886 and
KB3065822.
After this, whenever we are accessing the API's of this COM dll, we are getting an error "SCRIPT438: Object doesn't support this property or method: ". So we tried uninstalling the above two updates and saw that we were
able to access the APIs of the COM dll perfectly fine. Only when these updates are installed we are facing the above said error.
Can someone assist us in what may be going wrong here. It will be very helpful for us as it is important for us to run with this updates installed in our system.
Thanks in Advance,
Satya.

I recently started to receive error messages about my memory usage being high. I have looked at the processes on the task manager and the worst programs that seem to use the most memory appear to be iexplore.exe. I always sort the processes according to how much memory usage is being used and iexplore is always at the top and there are usually about five or six instances even if I'm only using one window. Also when I look at my main drive on my computer (C in the explore window it appears to be almost completely full as if my computer is loaded with all kinds of stuff. I've transferred so many files and folders to my external hard drive, flash drives, and anything else I can think of but I'm still having the problem. The other day I was using the computer and everything was working ok but suddenly I lost connection to the Internet and my network disappeared completely. There wasn't even anything to try to work with in the Network and Sharing Center. So I have no access to the Internet. I had signed up with a tech support company but everything has to be done over the phone. If I have internet connection they can take over my computer remotely to fix it. But this time I have no internet connection so I had to spend at least three hours on the phone with them and it really wore me out. also I'm not sure what they did but my computer will only open windows 7 in Safe Mode. Does anyone know how to stop that? I would much rather not have to deal with it that way.

do you have a restore point you back back up to before these problems started? or better yet a Windows back-up Image before this started?

I'm not sure if I would allow someone I don't know to have remote access to my computer. I say this from a personal experience of a close friend that did that and the outcome was not good for her. As it turned out, the more they mucked-up her computer, the more money they made! Believe me, they took a lot of her money and only wrecked her computer.

After I say IE 11 then run the IE file, I can use IE 11.

Hi: I have an email with an attachment which suddenly I cannot open. I receive the following message: "Your current security settings do not allow this file to be downloaded". How do I change these settings? I have disabled Norton but that didn't work.
Thanks,
Ardath Morrison
What email client? You can't open it because it isn't on your local PC yet, it's on the email server from your description, still? (though choice of word suddenly is interesting...)
If you aren't connected to the internet, that would do it.
If the attachment was not allowed at the server level due to size restrictions or content, that might be issue, also.
Please elaborate on details if that wasn't of any help.
I have a web page that is distributed to users within the company that has various links to the users machine and company's intranet.
One of them is a file:///d:/FOLDERNAME link that should open up the folder in Windows Explorer. All users of the web page will have this folder on their computer.
However, when I test it in IE, the link does not respond at all. Hovering over it displays the correct link. But clicking on it, or right clicking and selecting open does nothing.
WHAT DOES WORKI can put the URL directly into IE and it opens the directory perfectly.
I can put the link into an Outlook message and it opens the directory after giving a warning. (Micorsoft Office has identified a potential security concern. The location may be unsafe. Do you want to continue)
WHAT ELSE DOES NOT WORK
I tried opening this with Safari and I get a message "You don't have permission to view this page"
MY GUESS
I think this must be some IE Security setting or a permission on the actual folder. I've tinkered a bit with this, but with no real direction and no different results.

Hi Unicorn76,
Welcome to Vista Forums!
Go to: File association fixes for Windows Vista and click on the html option and fix the file association for html files. Once done, I believe IE should be able to open them.
I hope this helps. If not, post back and we'll try to find another solution.
Good luck!
I would appreciate any help with this problem.
I am using Internet explorer 8 in 7 emulation mode and it has now stopped saving or opening any downloads. The process begins asking open or save and allows me to state where to save if i take the option. However for some reason files no longer open and save to the designated folder.
I am also unable to open any webmail attachments (Btyahoo) word excel pdf ect.
I am using Vista Home Premium (fully updated according to windows update)
This problem occurs in both accounts and I have also tried turning UAC off.
Many Thanks for any support you may offer.

Hi and welcome to TSF have you trie either of these
How to change or select which program starts when you double-click a file in Windows XP
Change which programs Windows uses by default
When I used IE, whatever information I downloaded as an html file, it just opened.
Since I use Firefox and Kaspersky, Kaspersky asks each and ever time for every file if Allow or Deny. This is very annoying.
Is there a way either in Kaspersky or somewhere in Windows XP to set this up that Kaspersky doesn't asks or block html files?

IE on my system often hangs when I attempt to open a file that I saved to my hard drive. It seems that it always happens if I save a page that contains a shockwave file. The page opens fine if I navigate from the internet, but if I attempt to open the file from my hard drive then the page hangs for ~25 seconds. After that everything works fine.
To reproduce the issue navigate to www.yahoo.com. Next, follow one of the links under "In the News". After the news page opens, save the file by clicking on the File - Save As... menu item and then under "Save as type" select "Web page, HTML only". Then click the Save button to save the file. Finally, open the saved file by clicking on the File - Open... menu item. On my system the text will appear immediately, but then IE will hang for a while, after which the advertisement will appear.
Any ideas?
Thanks a lot for any help!

Try using firefox to open the html. file you download its better than Internet explorer
Read other 2 answersWhen I try to open a local html file (either by right clicking on it and opening with IE, or by loading IE and then dragging and dropping a file onto it), IE immediately crashes.
Specifically, it will come up with the crash popup window "Internet Explorer has stopped working". You click "Close the program" and it does it a second time (which is normal behaviour for how IE will try only twice, to avoid an infinite loop), and then you end up still in IE on that page that says "We were unable to return you to the page you were viewing."
It is not an issue with the code or content of the html file. Even a file that just says "hello" in it will crash this way.
Hello All,
I believe the problem with RunDll32 has a variety of faces and situations with every individual so any problem related to it might not be new for gurus to listen to.
Although all my existing programs used to work fine earlier, RunDll32 has started behaving randomly confusing for some unknown reason.
I usually use my desktop for variety of Video Encoding and Processing tasks. The problem I have seen is strangely apprearing when I have installed the DIVx Codec bundle from www.Divx.com . Although I know that Divx being a reliable software company cannot have any malware included with their applications. Its only now that it has started to behave erroneously with RunDLL32.
I have notice that whenever I run any task , for example running AVIADDXSUB (a software for adding XSUB subtitles to AVI (DIVx,XVID) files to be viewable on standalone Divx players) , even if the Divx codec is not needed , the Divx icon appears in the task bar tray, and simultaneously the RUNDLL32 is loaded in the System Process list ( in the task manager) and starts conuming all the CPU time and system memory as a result everything else happening on the PC halts to a grinding slow.
I have tried killing the RUNDLL32 process from the task manager numerous times, but then it appears again and again and gradually starts using all the memory. I have noticed this behaviour in combination with the DivX codec icon appearing in the task tray.

Let me mention at the outset that I am an intermediate Windows user.
I do not know the what-how-why of Windows registry values. Windows Task Manager is what I use to keep a watch on different processes running on the computer.
Lately, I have started encountering this problem of dllhost.exe (sometimes only one instance, other times multiple instances) gobbling up my computer's entire CPU memory resulting in a crash/error message. After reading many articles online on possible solutions, I've installed two Sysinternals utilities - Process Explorer & Process Monitor.
However, I am a newbie as far as these two softwares are concerned and it will take a while in understanding to use them to figure out what is causing the dllhost.exe CPU gobble-up problem. Besides, all the technical stuff - processes>threads>dlls, registry values etc. scares me.
I'd really appreciate if someone can help me figure out and fix the dllhost.exe problem.
Symptom
1. dllhost.exe starts hogging CPU memory when I browse/watch/view jpegs, media files (.mp4 etc.). At times there is only one instance of dllhost.exe, other times there are multiple instances.

If you notice the problem, look in task manager for mobsync.exe. I had issues with it. But it was more troublesome in Vista than Windows Seven. It seems to exist in order to make every media file on the system available to WMP. Sort of like a file indexer for media files.
Another possibility is if you have your Lan set to share media files over the network with WMP. Same type of thing. It searches every drive on your system looking for media files.
Please post back if you see evidence of either of the above.
If nothing shows up regarding mobsync then as a last resort see this:

btw on Vista I fixed the disk hogging CPU eating problem by using a program that killed mobsync.exe every time it tried to start.
Hi,
I have problem.
When I'm copying large files from from C disc to D disc (two phisical hdd drives) it consumer all my free memory. First it starts really fast, transfer rate is cca. 80-90MB/s, and when it fills all avaliable memory (I'm monitoring task manager) then it starts to slow, to 10-20MB/s till copying is finished. During that time working anything else in windows is almost impossible as everything is very slow. Strange thing is, when I'm copying reverse from D disc to C disk everything is as it should be, during copying transfer rate stays at 80-90MB/s, it consumes some 200-300MB of memory, and windows response is statisfying. I have a fresh installed Windows 7, before that I have XP.

Hello,I'm having a problem fixing my laptop. The svchost.exe is consuming all my CPU usage and if I let it continue, it will consume all my memory and crash Windows. I have done some removal of malware, spyware, and viruses and show up clean in Norton AntiVirus, Prevx (this was the only program to find something which I have deleted already), Adaware, BHODaemon, Bazooka, and Stinger. Other symptoms include having my Norton AntiVirus auto protect turned off when the pc starts up, internet activity when not doing anything (did a IP sniff and found that it is going to 207.138.126.230, but can't seem to decipher what it is trying to send), internet working sluggish to not working at all, and my windows themes temporarily going to Windows Classic but does go back to XP style on its own.The last thing I have removed was the msasvc service from the registry setting but still having problems. One thing I couldn't delete in the registry setting though was LEGACY_MSASVC from enum folder :HKLM/SYSTEM/CurrentControlSet/Enum/Root/LEGACY_MSASVCHKLM/SYSTEM/ControlSet003/Enum/Root/LEGACY_MSASVCHKLM/SYSTEM/ControlSet001/Enum/Root/LEGACY_MSASVCKeeps telling me "Cannot delete LEGACY_MSASVC: Error while deleting keyBelow is the Hijack This logs as close to start up as possible with svchost.exe still running at max:Logfile of HijackThis v1.99.1Scan saved at 9:41:14 PM, on 12/15/2006Platform: Windows XP SP2 (WinNT 5.01.2600)MSIE: Internet Explorer v6.00 SP2 (6.00.2900.2180)Running process... Read other 9 answersI bought a new notebook and upgraded from windows 8.1 standard to pro so I can rdp into it.
I use rdp because it's easier to connect this way and take advantage of my desktop screens and keyboard/mouse.
When I am connected via RDP, the logonui.exe process takes more and more memory until the machine is unusable. I kill the process (or process tree) and it re-starts climbing in memory consumption once again.
It only happens when connected via RDP from my windows 7 Pro desktop.

Hello everyone--Earlier today I openned Outlook Express so I know it worked today--at least it opened. When it did open and I trid to download messages it would not connect to my main emaii account though. It had not been doing this[ not connecting to the main email] for a few days. It connects to and downloads all other accounts though. It will not connect in safe mode or with antivirus and firewall off.
All other email applications like gmail and thunderbird can connect to and download messages
It stalls at the splash screen and uses just about all the memory --I only have 512 mb but have 250+ available for OE.It does not use more than about 10% of the cpu.
I need to get the 600 messages off the server and download them into the proper folder then I will switch over 100% to thunderbird.
I have not run any thing like crap cleaner since it opened earlier today.
any help would be appreciated

Hello,
after ZeroAccess virus successfully has been removed with TDSSKiller, Combofix and MBAM, a performance problem still persist
Explorer continously runs at 40-50% CPU.
According to procexpl, this is caused by ntdll.ll, one of the explorer threads. If I suspend this thread, CPU usage is normal (20-30% total). I I kill the thread, explorer terminates after a few minutes.
How to further diagnose the cause of this and remedy (I have downloaded Windows SDK, but lack the skills to use).
Secondary issue is that register contains 163 controlsets (while 2 is normal). It is unclear why these have been created. How to remove these ?
your assistance would be highly appreciated
Hi, you may still be infected despite using the tools above.
In fact using Combofix should be done with expert help.

Hi my name is Chris and I am studying to be a web designer,I am having problems with internet explorer because it wont display an image using the <img src> tag only the alternative text which is strange because all other images display from websites and I have enabled the active x content and the show picture option in internet tools but it still wont display
thanks chris
You mean something like this? From your hard drive? Or are you trying to link to the web?
<IMG alt="sample picture" src="c:\sample.jpg" >
You may have to empty out your cache and refresh?
Have no ideas otherwise. However, there is a TSG Web Development Forum here and you would be more likely to get a better answer:

Read other answersHi,
I have a Hewlett Packard Vectra desktop pc
Pentium 3, 930 Mhz, 128MB ram
Windows XP home edition upgrade
This is a very strange problem, it may have to do with my registry.
After running a registry scan and fixing errors, I noticed that all
my software programs that display any kind of html, such as
Outlook Express, my html editor, my keyword research tool, and
my webpage design software, will no longer display, but instead,
a windows screen pops up prompting me to either open the file
in my browser or save it, thus, rendering my software programs
useless. I have no idea how to fix this and I don't have the technical
knowledge for this type of problem. If need be, I will reformat
the hard drive and just start over, but would rather fix the problem.
I scanned the registry twice (mistake), so I don't think I can go back to the way it was.
Any ideas? Thanks.

I recently applied windows 7 updates, didn't see what was updated since it frequently updates something. After that the memory usage increased from normal 30+ percentage to 50+ percentage. I checked with task manager it was svhost.exe and the service it was running is the "Windows Audio Endpoint Builder". It is used for audio and plug-in devices as from microsoft website , so cant disable it. Any other ideas to stop this problem? Since i have only 2 gig of ram it is essential to solve this problem. Thanks in advance..
I know this is an old thread but I'm wondering if someone has an answer to this problem? I have the exact same problem. Is this a bug that Microsoft has addressed?
Read other 2 answersThere is a bug that completely changes the tables I have set and it only happens in IE. Pics are attached that show what is supposed to happen (in Chrome and FF) and what happens in IE. Please Help me! I can provide code if needed, but I have narrowed down the problem to something with the <form> tag. The form tag is inside a table which is inside another table.
Nevermind, I fixed it. The problem was the <form>. I do not know why it did this but that was the tag that screwed everything up. My fix was to use <select> without using the <form>. It is working now!

HTML code displays when visiting the website in Internet Explorer. Can't figure out what is wrong.
Hi HTMLNewbie, and welcome to TSG.
Are you talking about a web site for which are managing and creating content (TSG has a separate Web Development forum)? It would help to give us the URL for it.
Are you saying that Internet Explorer is showing HTML code for any web site you visit (TSG has a separate Web & E-mail forum). The exact version of IE and Windows might help for starters.
Hi All,
OK, first I am not sure if I am still infected, but the computer is still not acting right and considering everything I don't trust it .
Running Win Xp / MCE Version 2002 SP 2
I run NIS 2008, last full scan was 3/31/09, and last update was 4/1/09. Run NIS religiously, always keep subscription/updates up to date.
Ran MBAM 4/2/2009 DB 1939 - now clean
SuperAntiSpyware 4/04/2009 7:10 AM Core 3829 - now clean
Here is the scenario.
On 4/1 Firefox began crashing erratically. I did the update for 3.0.8
When I restarted Firefox I could not get an Internet connection, even though IE7 connected fine.
I did a system reboot, at that time decided to go forward with Microsoft update to SP3 (I never reboot my computer, usually leave it running and just hibernate).
AFter that, system would load, prompt for user/pass but then just go to wallpaper, nothing else.
System would just hang there, did several reboot attempts.
System would give black screen on Safe Mode, would still hang with Wallpaper on "Last Known Configuration".
AFter that used MSCONFIG to get system running with wireless connection. At that point noticed several things:
*Google in Firefox and IE would redirect search results randomly to different pages
*Explorer.exe even though not technically running, was eating a LOT of memory, I am talking 350K+ and up,
Tried to run DDS.scr, just blipped the Dos prompt and disappeared. Would not run.
Uninstalled MS SP 3.
Got system up and running on Safe Mode with ... Read more

Sunbelt Software, a leading provider of Windows security software, today announced the results of an independent performance test of leading endpoint security solutions by premier test lab The Tolly Group. The test found that Sunbelt Software's VIPRE? Enterprise significantly outperformed competing products from Symantec and McAfee through lower system resource usage and faster scanning speed. This superior performance reduces computer costs and increases productivity for small- and medium-sized enterprises, when compared to the significant resource tax imposed by competing "bloatware" security products. The Tolly test included antivirus scanning performance and system resource utilization.

I am trying to create a 2-column html table. I want to put a large image in a cell within the second column of the table, and "wrap" the image in <div> tags so I can limit the display width, and have scroll bars so the user can scroll the image to view the entire thing.
The sizing of the <div> works correctly but, the table is always the width of the ENTIRE image...nothing I do seems to limit the width of the table. So, even though the <div> is the correct width, and has the scroll bars, the table is the width of the underlying image.
I will include some sample text to demonstrate the problem. Just choose a large image that you might have on your machine, and insert it's path into the <img> tag. The example image I am using is 1600X1200.
PS: in this example I am using "min-width" and "max-width", but the problem is the same if I simply use "width".
This code works properly in Firefox. Is there anything I can do to get the desired behavior in IE or, are table widths determined by the contents of the table in IE, regardless of the properties that are defined?
Thanks, in advance, for any advice you can give.

Hi
My web programming skills aren't really good enough to help you but i have a few suggestions.
Don't use tables and position everything using css
Its actually very easy to learn i used a tutorial at the website html-dog (google for it) which was very helpful.
Tables should only really be used for tabular data and are not a way to lay out websites.
I think it will look awful if you have to scroll to see the rest of the picture in the way that you describe, if you have to put it in a table why not put a thumbnail in which when clicked links to the full size version of the picture?

I went to folder options, to choose what opens an html page but the apply button stopped working. another site had me download to desktop this reg fixer: exefix and double click it so regedit would apply the fix but it didn't help. Even on an other html editor, I can't seem to preview the page in IE. I tried Internet options, programs, HTML editor, but I can't change the default Notepad. Internet Explorer (listed as Q831167 under "Add/Remove Programs") will not run. [I'm using Mozilla & Netscape without a problem.]
And I can't read any Outlook emails in html.
I've uninstalled/reinstalled as many Microsoft products as possible - Office, Internet Explorer - to no avail.
I have Norton Internet Security 2004, loaded yesterday - but I can't use it properly, I suppose b/c of the html issue. And help menus for any program are unreadable.
I've run Spybot 1.3 and Adaware, both with newest updates.
I have the newest anti-virus definitions for Norton loaded - but can't use Norton, so not sure if it helps any. I've eliminated most of the start-up files to clear up any potential issues.
Not sure what to do - and I've spent HOURS!!!!!!
I would appreciate any advice!!

This isn't Internet Explorer. It's only a patch. If this is what you uninstalled, you didn't uninstall IE. You only removed a patch. In any case, you can't really uninstall IE. You can roll back to a previous version (except on XP), but you can't remove it completely unless you use some sort of non-MS third-party utility.
