Cannot download latest version of Adobe Flash Player

Q: Cannot download latest version of Adobe Flash Player

All of a sudden, I am not able to download Adobe Flash Player (the latest version, of course). In the recent past, it would download within a couple of minutes. Now, it takes as long as 20-30 minutes, acting as if it is going to install. Ultimately, it comes back with an error: "Cannot contact reliable source." Thus, it doesn't install.

I am no longer able to watch videos or look at any site that requires flash player.

Any help would be appreciated, as I am not very good with technical issues.

FYI- I have Windows Vista, 32-bit.

Thanks.

Preferred Solution: Cannot download latest version of Adobe Flash Player

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Most of the plugins are that way. From the sound of it, fully featured 64-bit browsers are still a long ways off.

That's part of the reason you don't see 64-bit versions of Firefox.

Hi....

I have been running Secunia Online Software Inspector every other month to make sure I am up to date with all software.

Just ran it and it advised.

The detected version installed on your system is 11.2.202.233 (ActiveX), however, the latest patched version released by the vendor, fixing one or more vulnerabilities, is 11.2.202.235 (ActiveX).
I downloaded it via the Secunia site and ran it. But it did not do anything.

I then went to the Adobe website and downloaded it from there and ran it. But again it did not do anything.

I ran Secunia again to see if the latest version had been detected but it it still advising that the old version 11.2.202.233(ActiveX) is still there.

So, I am stuck and need some help from the experts.

I have run the log as advised, please see below. If you need any other info please let me now.

What am I doing wrong?!!!!!! I have deleted/reloaded the "most recent" Adobe Flash Player and "enabled" Java Script innumerable times only to have it work for a period of time and then again receive these error messages when trying to view YouTube or Comcast "Fan"! I know I am not alone with this problem, but is there a legitimate permanent fix so I don't have to continually go to my "internet options" to enable my java script (which I have never found disabled) and then uninstall/reinstall the Adobe Flash Player? In the "Control Panel -Add/Remove Programs" Adobe Flash Player 10 Active X (version 10.0.22.87) is listed but there is no file size listed on the right of the page? Comcast Fan directs me to download "Adobe Flash Player " ....shouldn't version 10 supercede version 9? I don't want to have to do this anymore! Thanks!

Summary

A critical vulnerability (CVE-2015-0313) exists in Adobe Flash Player 16.0.0.296 and earlier versions for Windows and Macintosh.  Successful exploitation could cause a crash and potentially allow an attacker to take control of the affected system.  We are aware of reports that this vulnerability is being actively exploited in the wild via drive-by-download attacks against systems running Internet Explorer and Firefox on Windows 8.1 and below.
Adobe expects to release an update for Flash Player during the week of February 2.

Note: This is for Internet Explorer. If you're using Firefox or some other non-IE browser, you need this version instead, which is Adobe Flash Player 10 Plugin.

It's 10.2.156.32 and available at the 'usual' URL; http://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/ which, if you use IE, will get you the Active X version (and a Google toolbar if you don't uncheck it!) which is installed online, but, if you use any other browser, you should get the 'plain' version as an .exe file. Whichever browser you update, don't forget to run the Adobe uninstaller first;http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/141/tn_14157.html

I haven't seen a Changelog yet so you may want to hold off updating until it becomes clear whether this is a 'security' upgrade or not (they usually are!).

A:New version of Adobe Flash Player!

Still no sign of a formal Changelog for the latest version but Adobe have now amended their website to refer to it, together with the following not very informative statement 'Adobe recommends that all Flash Player users upgrade to the most recent version of the player through the Player Download Center to take advantage of security updates'

Edit: I did post an URL to a relevant Adobe list of versions which has suddenly ceased to work and now points to an entirely different page! I have no idea how I managed that, apologies to anybody who saw this before the edit and was totally confused by it.

You can try the version detection by Adobe to see if your installation has worked:http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/155/tn_15507.htmlIf it shows the version that you have mentioned, there could be a problem with the site that you are visiting.Otherwise you might need to re-install the latest version of Flash Player.

Hi not sure this is the right place to post this problem.

I use Game Ranger to launch my Links2003 Golf Game. For the past month and a half every time I try to enter this site I have to install Adobe Flash Player 11.5. It is already installed in the proper folders (system32) and (SysWOW64) I have contacted Game Ranger but they can not help.

I went to Adobe Site and got the uninstaller for the the Adobe Flash Player. followed all the instructions, Removed it completely, Removed Game Ranger completely. Then reinstalled the flash player 11.5 and checked to make sure it reinstalled into the proper folders. then reinstalled Game Ranger. and it worked fine for almost 5 days. Now I have to reinstall the same flash player every new day I go into Game Ranger.

Can you suggest anything

Thanks in advance

You only need to install a 64bit version of Flash Player if you are using the 64bit version of Internet Explorer. If it is working on your browser without any problems then you have nothing to be concerned with.

FYI. All 64bit versions of Windows have a 64bit version of IE included but you would have to select it from the programs list. Unless you have done that you will find the version you are using is 32bit. It is incorrect to assume that as you have 64bit Windows that IE is also 64bit.
With IE open click on Help and About Internet Explorer, in the pop up box next to the version number it will say 64bit edition, if it just shows the number it is 32bit.

Messed up my XP somehow: first: my Internet Explorer 7 flashed that all the add-ons are disabled on the broswer: but when I click onto the web site: it's all about updates for Microdosft Windows: NOT updates for Internet Explorer 7... huh? The IE help page tells me to look up Tools under 'manage ad-ons'... there IS no 'manage ad-ons'... on my IE tools.
The Microsoft hep page tells me to look up Accessories and look under sytem Tools and click on 'Internet explorer'... There IS no 'Internet explorer' in my Accessories!

Then I find my flash player doesn't work for viewing football games streaming on the Internet: tells me I have to update to Adobe Flash Player 10. point something: I look up my add/remove hardware and find my Adobe Fash Player has no MB. It's empty, just nothing... no wonder, so I remove it... Then I try to download it again... the download doesn't work: it tells me my my antivirus might be blocking it so I put it on PAUSE for 15 minutes: still doesn't download: The Adobe downlaod page site tells me I have to enable the Active-X to make the download work: tells me to look on the information bar below the address bar... I have no information bar. Just a menu bar... Every instruction I get to fix a problem is wrong: what is this? Am I the only one who has IE 7 and Windows XP?

(I hate Activex. My browser works fine without it... so I can't download Adobe Fash Player unless I have Active-x? There must be some way to get around this.)

Check to see if you aren't opening IE(without add-ons). It's a I.E. browser feature for troubleshooting - located in Accessories > System Tools.

Look for the regular Internet Explorer browser which is located in the Program Files directory. Or go to Run (or hit the windows button and R) and type in iexplore.exe.

Could you send an image of the screen that you get when you open Internet Explorer?

Each time I log in I get an instruction to download AFP. But each time I accept the download it fails. The most significant download suppier requires acceptance of lots of add-ons, which I don't need, but I wonder if rejecting those is the reason the download fails?

I have a Dell Inspiron 1440 Laptop, That has Windows 7, 64-Bit Operating System. 3 Days ago, I had a popup come on that asked me If I wanted to Install a Adobe Flash Player 11, I went to Adobe's Website, and downloaded it. Shortly after that, I started getting popups on my computer saying: Host process for windows services has stopped working"

This would come on about every 30-45min. I would click send info, and it would go away and come back about 30-45 minutes later, and the same thing would happen over and over. I tried some things online that said it might help, including virus scans, and what this website said How to fix “Host Process for Windows Services Has Stopped Working” | Web Talk

Neither of these worked. I realized that this started happening when I downloaded Adobe Flash player 11. So I uninstalled it, and it went away. I had too install the adobe flash player plugin that youtube said I needed it to watch youtube video's. I tried and I couldn't watch any youtube video without it. I installed the plugin, and I don't have the Host Process for Windows has Stopped Working anymore. I have had this computer on for about 3 hours, this evening, and about 30-60 mins in the morning, and the Host process problem hasn't come one once.

Now I keep getting a pop up saying Do you want to install Adobe Flash player 11? I refuse to install it, Because I believe based on what I just told you, that this is causing the problem. What do I do to get rid of thi... Read more

A:Need Help With Adobe Flash Player wanting to download

1. you can try to install all important windows updates and then attempt to install the most recent adobe package from its website, or you can
2. click any pdf or on adobe itself and wait for it to load up. click on edit, then updater at the bottom of the categories, and under check for updates, click do not download or install updates automatically. If you get another pop-up, look for a place to uncheck auto-update.

that should solve it. kinda like the red or blue pill. the choice is yours.

I have the latest version of Adobe Flash Player installed on my computer. When clicking on a link to view (example: youtube link), a screen comes up that tells me I need to update to the latest version of AFP, which is already installed on my computer. When this first happened, I uninstalled AFP and reinstalled it thinking it had not downloaded properly. I even removed my Spyware program because I was prompted to do so, and reinstalled it AFTER I had reinstalled AFP. No matter what I want to view that uses AFP, I get the same message that I need to update to the latest version. I believe this problem began when I uninstalled TweetDeck, or at least, that is when I first noticed it.

Before this problem began, I had no problem viewing links using AFP, and the latest version was installed on my computer.

I have a Dell Inspiron 531S computer, Windows Vista, 32-bit OS, 3.00 GB RAM. Any help would be much appreciated.
