Lenovo Y410P Wont Start Up

Q: Lenovo Y410P Wont Start Up

Greetings. Yesterday i went back from work and got wet by rain. Unfortunately, my bag with my Lenovo Ideapad Y410p got really wet. And my fault is, I directly turn on my laptop at home, and as expected it wont start. That day i decide to let it dry and try again next day. In next day, I try to turn in on again, but it wont power up. When i press power button, power indicator (and power button light) just flash for 1 sec, and flash again every 3-4 sec. The fan works. When i plug in charger, indicator led shows it charging. What could have wrong? Please help.

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hello! I recently decided to dig up my old Lenovo Ideapad Y410p, and to my surpise, it had been dropped before without my knowledge. I proceeded to attempt to plug in my PWR+ I7 replacement charger, and to my surpise the power button had lit up (the one on the palmrest/keyboard's surrounding area), and the power indicator (this one was white) and the battery indicator (this one was amber) were on aswell! I saw no signs of life from the screen, nor did I hear my fan, hard drive, or etc.. turn on as I tried to turn on my Ideapad. Furthermore, I tried using the Novo button, and used several reccomended methods of pressing the power button with and without the battery and/or charger, I don't know whats wrong with my laptop! I am capable of assembling and disassembling the system, as I have done it before, but what should I do in this case?

I have I an older Y410P laptop that probably should be replaced but that's not the issue here. I can't get it to start up all the way. I'll power it on and it'll go to the Lenovo screen and then pass it and go to a black screen with a circle indicating it's loading (or booting up). After that it just stays spinning and won't ever go to the login page. I can get to boot menu by pushing the Lenovo button but don't know what to do in there. Some instruction would be great, I'm not sure what happened to make it not start up but I don't know how to fix it. Thanks in advance! I greatly appreciate it!

My Lenovo Y410P (64-bit edition) came shipped with Windows 8.1.  I upgraded to Windows 10 last year.  Recently, my computer began freezing, and often times would not boot up.  I was forced to re-install Windows.  All is fine now except that the Lenovo Management software is nowhere to be found.  Yes, it is available from the Lenovo website but there is no listing nor reference to that software that is compatible with the Lenovo Y410P running Windows 10 (upgrade) 64-bit.  As a result, my batter is stuck at the 60% charge with no way to change that. Can anyone tell me, definitively, if that software is still available for the Lenovo Y410P running Windows 10 Home 64-bit?  If so, where can I find it?

I am writing this post to acquire additional information about why this may be. What I have is a Lenovo y410p that shipped with just the standard 1tb hard drive (I did not get the additional ssd). I purchased a small, working, 16gb m.2 ssd to try out in the laptop before I spend money on something much larger. I open up the laptop, plug it in (it some fiit perfectly, not a hitch) and assemble and turn the laptop back on. Now, after playing in the BIOS which doesn't allow you to change anything (horrible BIOS btw), it also does not show up in device/disk manager. According to the BIOS it does not see the drive at all. I had once, miraculously, it did see the drive, then when I booted it was gone. Does anyone have an idea how I may be able to enable that port? Or if that port on mine is busted? ... Key Points- The m.2 drive itself is working, and tested in an external enclosure- Drive has showed up in BIOS like twice, randomly, then not after computer is booted- Drive has never shown up in device/disk manager- I know this is the right drive, m.2 ngff ssd because it fits and is not pci-e based. Any information would be greatly appreciated. I know there is not a whole lot of documentation on this issue anywhere else, so we may be able to help someone else out as well!

A:Lenovo Y410p M.2 SSD port not working

It might need to get the drive initialize and then install a program to make it act as a cache. I'm not sure if the program is Expresscache but take a look at this procesure if it is what you need.

Hit power, keyboard lights up for about a second, fan spins briskly. Then the keyboard light turns off, the fan spins softly, but the LCD panel never lights up. I tried plugging it into an external monitor but no signal out of HDMI. If I hold down the power button for 10 seconds it turns fully 'off.'Laptop is fully charged. I've verified that the battery is well seated.

I was using my bluetooth mouse when it suddenly stopped. Digging into it, it looks like bluetooth is no longer working on my y410p laptop.  - I no longer have bluetooth options under All Settings > Devices (Windows 10)- Bluetooth no longer shows up in my device manager In my computer properties there's an Unknown USB Device that is listed as "Port_#0007_#Hub#0003". I'm guessing this is my bluetooth card, which is no longer working. Can comeone with a working Intel bluetooth module confirm?  The device events show a Device not started description "Device USB\VID_0000&PID_0002\... had a problem starting" My guess is that my bluetooth adapter is blown, but I'm hoping it's something that can be fixed through software.  Thanks.

Ok, so I had just picked up this laptop second hand about 2 weeks ago. When I had first gotten it, it was on Windows 10. Realizing not long after, that the GPU software was not installed. So given the drivers Lenovo and Nvidia provided, I installed what was neccessary. After everything was installed, I noticed that the Nvidia Control Panel, like before, was still not accessable. If you right click on the desktop, it does not pop up. I tried going into the hidden icon tab and on the GeForce Experiance tab by right clicking it to access the Nvidia Control Panel and I get a message saying "Nvidia display settings not availabe - You are not currently using a display with a NVIDIA GPU" As well as Device Manager giving me the 'Error 43' with the annoying yellow triangle... So following forums elsewhere, I was suggested to down grade to Windows 8.1. After doing so, I had tried installing the drivers (This time in orderly fashion) and to my luck, it still doesn't work... Even gained problems like GeForce Experience not working most of the time, just a dead app. I tried using DDU to un-install, reinstall and no luck. I then used DDU again, but installed earlier drivers off a 3rd party provider and install the updates through the older version of GeForce Experience I found. That worked and the GeForce Experience app seemed to be working great, but more problems have occured. To simplify it out a little, I will list them. Problems as follows: - Computer boots with no Control P... Read more

However, if I holf down the power button until it turns off it will move pass the Lenovo screen and then boots up, nut it takes forever. I have read just about everything I can on this problem! Started without the battery and just plugged in, same problem. I replaced the HHD last night with a Samsung EVO 860 SSD as I read it could be a HDD going bad. I disabled the Liteon 24gb SSD caching SSD, with no improvement. Downloaded the Lenovo diagonistic tool for windows and nothing checks out bad all the hardware in the laptop comes back as working. All the drivers are update.....etc...... Any ideas what could be the problem?

Try draining the residue power:

1. Disconnect the charger from the laptop. Also, disconnect the battery if your laptop has a replaceable battery. If not, you can bypass this step.2. Press and hold the Power Button for 30 seconds. 3. Plug the charger back in (and battery if you took that out) and power on the laptop.

Also try going into your BIOS Setup and defaulting the BIOS settings by pressing the F9 key then save your changes and exit the BIOS.

Let me know if that helps

Hi, I have been using this Lenovo Ideapad y410p for 6 years which has been awesome throughout these years. Still its battery backup and processor performance is satisfying. The only issue I am having these days is its HDD response. I have a mechanical usual HDD which takes bit long time to wake up from sleep mode, start playing videos or games. It also seems to make spinning noise when I play games. I am seeking for a suggestion from experts. 1. I have an unused 42mm m.2 ssd slot in my laptop. Should I add a 256GB M.2 NGFF SSD there and install OS in ssd?2. Or should I simply replace my existing HDD with a SATA III SSD like Samsung EVO 840 or somehting else? Or any suggestion you would liek to add. Thanks in advance.

I have been using this y410p to play games for almost three years now, and a small set of problems has slowly started to build.  As of now, most of my games will crash within 5-10 minutes of starting, commonly accompanied by the error "Display driver has stopped responding and recovered". Most of the time, the game will just freeze with the audio continuing and I am able to close it. Sometimes however, I get much more severe crashes, where the sound over 5 seconds becomes extremely distorted, and my mouse movement becomes increasingly laggy until the whole thing just freezes, with a monotone buzzing sound coming from the speakers.  I have noticed that the display driver crashes generally occur when my disk randomly spiked to 100%. Even a single second of it can cause my whole computer to crash. As of now, I can't play games that my computer has easily been able to run before. I've tried using IdeaFan to keep temperatures down, but I don't think it's temperatures causing it, seeing as I've seen it happen multiple times when the temperature is only around 50. If any of you have an idea of what could be causing this, please respond.  Also of note, I am running Windows 10, which I have heard can be problematic for the y410p. Could that be causing the issue?

Hello everyone! My name is Kevin and I've had my Lenovo Y410P for a little less than 2 years. So recently I downloaded Battery Bar as I was realizing that my battery duration was slowly receding.Battery Bar, a program that shows battery level and wear, stated that my 6 cell battery had experienced 54.3% wear. I browsed the internet for specific tips on how to increase my battery duration and came upon battery recalibration. I tried it a couple times manually, but I didn't get any results. So, I then turned to the battery gauge full-charge/discharge function in my Energy Management. After running that through the night, I realized the next morning that the battery was depleted and I couldn't turn on my laptop or even charge my battery unless I followed the steps:- Remove the battery from the laptop.- Plug in the AC adapter and use the laptop without a battery.- The battery can be reattached. The battery is able to start charging. - If I remove the AC adapter for a second and reattach it, it will not be recognized and it will not charge the battery. As of now, Battery Bar shows that I have 0% wear of 52,830 mWh which is significantly less than the full capacity of a 6 cell battery; however, it's still better than what I had before. Anyways, does anyone else have this problem? And if you have, how did you resolve this issue? Thank you!

Hello. Beforehand, I've just done some searching and realised that my problem is actually a well-known (factory) defect from Lenovo y410p (and there was actually a pretty long thread already beaten this dead horse again and again), but I have a different question, and necro-ing an old thread for this seems irrelevant. So, like everyone else's problem, the upper left side of my laptop's bottom case slowly unhinges when I open the laptop or move the screen away from the keyboard. This is not a new problem for me, since I actually had a very similar problem before. Here's the complete chronology. In July 2014, I bought this laptop in Indonesia (I am Indonesian) and was and actually am still really satisfied with it as it is a very balanced laptop (aside from the weight but it's a minor problem). However, about several months later, I began to notice the problem - the unhinging of the left upper side of the bottom case right under the left lever. Back then I thought, since the gap was still pretty small, maybe the screw's becoming loose, so I simply tightened the screw, which while not really fixing the problem, kept the problem minor. In the span of 3 year, I kept this habit: pinching the left corner tightly with my fingers when opening/adjusting the monitor position, checking the unhinging every week, and tightening the screw every now and then. However, in May 2017, just after the last screw tightening, a part of the left upper casing snapped upon open... Read more

Is this a memory leaks issue? I checked the forum for the possibility of any type of memory leaks

This laptop ran COMPLETELY fine for like about a month, and then this started to happen.
Since I have my wifi on auto connect, the computer automatically crashes every time I start the computer normally.

I booted up into safe mode without wireless, and it did not BSOD. Uninstalled the wifi driver (Qualcomm), booted normally, and no BSOD.
Right now I'm using my phone's 3G connection through LAN hotspot, and there's no problem. But whenever I try to connect through wifi, this happens (please excuse the low quality):
http://puu.sh/4jR8b.mp4

What's weird is that the laptop has been running extremely fine for the past month or so, and it still does with everything else. I seriously hope this isn't a hardware issue.
I also included a picture of the specs.

I bought this laptop in 2014, and had a great time with it. After roughly 2 years, the GTX860M died... booting up would result in a complete freeze before i could even log in. No BSOD whatsoever, just a complete freeze. Yes, i even reinstalled windows multiple times and tried to reinstall the drivers in safemode, nothing helped the situation. I could get around this by disabling the nvidia gpu in the BIOS, which was tricky, since the BIOS itself would freeze aswell after roughly 15 seconds. Then, the past few days my laptop screen would disable itself (it would just shut off, only my second monitor would work and hold all my windows, as if my laptop screen wasn't there). It also wouldn't boot properly from time to time either, the keyboard would light up (sometimes i couldn't change its brightness, and sometimes i could) but the screen would never turn on. I did some research and what seemed to help others was holding down the powerbutton for 10 seconds (didn't help), some even unplugged the battery and drained the system of power (which i did aswell, also didn't help). After that, the system would refuse to fire up at all. I can't get to the BIOS, the keyboard won't light up, i can't get to anything through the button next to the power button (forgot it's name). The power button just lights up for 5 seconds, and that's it. I checked the motherboard to see if anything blew, haven't found anything so far. i tried to switch the places for the RAM, doesn't help eit... Hey, thanks for reading this! I'm completely new to the forums, and am here for this question only, as I'm at a loss of what to do. My Lenovo Z70-80 has been dead for months now for a second time. The first time, my dad and I figured it was the charging port, and he replaced it. It worked again for a while, and then the same thing happened. Nothing had been done to damage the AC adapter or the charging port itself this time, so recently we ordered a replacement AC adapter to try and see if that was the problem, as the one we had had been chipped away a bit. I just got the package today, and plugged the PC in. immediately when I pressed the power button, it started up, but after a few seconds, it simply shut down. I've tried starting it up again a few times more, and sometimes it does nothing at all, sometimes it does the same thing as the first time. One thing I noticed was the occasional blinking orange light at the front of the PC, which started up most times I tried the power button (without the screen reacting).  In conclusion, I hope this made sense as I'm pretty much illiterate when it comes to computer issues, but I hope someone is able to help me out on this. It's been a major inconvenience to have this laptop dead, especially right now with college applications, studying, research, etc. Thank you so much for reading this far!

I recently tried to turn on my z500 after dropping it on the charging port whilst it was charging. However, after trying to turn it on it wouldnt start. I have tried the hard reset of pressing the button every 1 second 10 times and then holding the power button for 30 seconds.I have also replaced the charging cable inside the laptop and also used a spare charger.  Disconnecting the battery does not resolve the issue eitherWhen plugging in the charger, the battery light does not light up as well.Is there any solution to this? Thanks!

This had been my families computer for about 2 years now, we got it brand new. Worked fine until randomly from the vista desktop the computer shut off for no reason (no win update or anything). When I tried to restart the computer, it booted to the desktop but before anything could be done it quickly shut off again, and now wont restart at all (no lights or anything). I'm assuming a faulty power supply unit is the problem but I'm not positive. If someone might know something else or has had the same problem please help. Any knowledge is appreciated!

A:Lenovo 3000k Vista, shuts off, now wont start up

Hi loserspearl,

It could be either a software fault(malware) or a PSU fault. You could boot into the BIOS first and see if the issue appears there aswell. Just press DEL during startup and you will be presented with a blue/white screen. Have a look at the temperatures as you see if the computer does the same thing again.

You can also try to boot into safemode (Press F8 during startup) and see if it does the same thing. Let us know the results and I'll get back to you with further instructions.

Hey guys!! So yeah, I have a Lenovo Ideapad Y700 15ISK laptop. It's a really cool laptop! And it's a monster in gaming! Also, it's new. I had it with me for about 2 months now. I have no negative comments about this laptop. This laptop was my dream laptop. I always take care of it and made sure it is in top condition.  But you see, One day, like 3-4 days ago (sunday), when I got home I turned on my laptop to update my excel table for my expenses, it was bout 90%. After that, I took a nap leaving my laptop still turned on. When I woke up, I saw it was 10% percent. Of course, like any normal person would do, I plugged in the charger. To my suprise, It suddenly turned off by itself right after I plugged in the charger to the wall socket. Thinking that It just got lowbat, it was all right for me. Or so I thought. After that, I noticed that there were no lights that indicate that it is charging in my laptop. Please help!!! It's been 3 or 4 days now and I still can't use it!!! It won't charge, it won't turn on because of the lowbat and I can't fix it.Any ideas?? (i have a background on Electronics Engineering if it matters) i did some analysis. 1. I'm pretty sure that the battery is okay, but of course it's lowbat cause it shutdown at 10%. 2. My charger is perfectly fine. (I tried it on another y700 at a store, also, my laptop does not charge with another y700 charger) 3. I do believe that it is in the hardware because, like I said, the light indicator shou... Went to turn on my Lenovo Ideapad Y410p laptop and nothing happened! No led lights with power source on and battery in. When I used it two days ago, I ran AVG and spy-bot and everything was fine. Used it a little bit and turned it off. Now nothing??? Did the power/battery disconnect with holding power button for 30 seconds... nothing. Both batteries 9 cell and 6 cell had full charge, tried my other Lenovo charger... no go. A surge couldn't have happened as the laptop is plugged into same strip as my other lenovo laptop is and that one is working fine.

A:Lenovo Ideapad Y410p won't power on... No power light?

Hi jack61 ,

Greetings.

We now know, power drain failed. No LED error codes , No beep codes
No activity lights even with battery charging led.
Not turning on even with known good charged batteries.
No power even with known good ac adapter.

What we can try:
Try plugging it directly on the wall and press novo key (number 1 page 7) to turn it on instead.
Check if the power port shows any signs of burnt / damage / looseness .
Press Novo key using a charged battery.
Remove battery, harddrive , memory and other accessories and plug directly with a known working adapter and or with a charged battery ( it should at least beep).

If all fails , you can have it checked for the motherboard issue with a technician (checking on the internals /cleaning or reseating parts connected to the board / applying thermal paste (for processor isolation) / checking on dc in board and port).

You can check for your warranty here and call in tech support for service.

Regards

I have a Lenovo Y410P, I want to downgrade from Windows 8 and I whipped my hard drive. I also set all of the correct setting such as:Converting HDD from GBT to MBR
Deleting Volumes
Formatting HDD
Setting Legacy Boot
Changing Boot Priorites

I have looked up my issue and followed various guides

What does "whipped hard drive" mean ?

Why are you following guides about an installation error - have you had that happen?

Not sure what the question is.

So I turn my computer off one day only to find it wont start the next day. I open the case up and see the led is on. I flip the switch on the power supply off then on and quickly press the power button. My computer starts but the following time I shut down the computer it again wont start and now the led is blinking. I've never had any issues like this before, any help would be appreciated.

I don't routinely use many usb devices, only my mouse and keyboard and every now and then my ipod. I figure the issue is likely either the power supply or the motherboard. The ps is almost two years old while the motherboard is only about three months old.

A:Computer wont start, power supply wont start, blinking led

It sounds to me like your PSU is the problem, get a hold of another and plug it to your computer and see if that will make it start, if it doesn't it might be BOTH your motherboard and PSU. A bad PSU will burn a motherboard.
