Preferred Solution: my pictures folder all pictures are gone/someone told me to post this here to see if

I recommend downloading and running DAP. It can help sort out any driver and firmware related issues on your system

It's worked out well for many of us in the past.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloaddap.org. (This link will open the download page of DAP so you can save a copy to your computer.)

A: my pictures folder all pictures are gone/someone told me to post this here to see if

is the pictures folder "my pictures" within my documents or were you saving them someplace else, in another folder?

were they deleted, are they in the recycle bin?

you haven't given much info other than the pics are missing.

I formatted my drive after I saved my favorites and my pictures to CD. Formatting cleared up the problem of two dial up connections. I tried everything on that. The duplicate connection is no more. Finally! Anyway, back to why I am posting again. I want to put the pictures that I saved from the My Pictures folder back to the My Pictures folder. I have set one of them as the new desktop background. (It was before the format). I have looked in Help and Support, but I can't seem to find anything. I have typed in "Export Pictures from CD to My Pictures folder" without the quotes and I get a list of links pertaining to CD recording errors and other things like that. I did right click on a picture in Drive E (my CD-RW) just to see what would come up and I noticed that on the Send To menu that these pictures can be sent to the desktop. Is this what I should do then? Send them to the desktop and open them and send them from here to the My Pictures folder? It can't be that easy, can it? Let me hear from anybody.

Highlight all your pictures on the cd, right click and click on copy, then open you picture folder on your computer and right click and click on paste.

XP has built in cd-burnig capabilities. You should just be able to put a blank disk in and drag and drop your files over.

Here's a strange one.....

All the pictures and folders from the 'My Pictures' folder are missing. I checked my recycle bin but they are not there. There is one folder in there of some stock photos (about 1 GB), but everything else is gone.

At the moment I am running Recuva, but it is taking some time. Any ideas on what may have happened?

I'm stumped.....it has to be something simple and obviously something I did!

Thank you for the help!

Hi Guys,I have a problem that I have not encountered before. For some unaccountable reason, I cannot open any picture in the 'My Pictures' folder.Whenever I attempt to open a picture I get an error message that says: File C:/Documents and Settings/User/My Documents/My Pictures/ could not be opened.Initially, I thought that it might have been a virus, but scans by AVG have turned up nothing.I have no idea how to solve this problem. Please help. With Thanks.Compton

A:Pictures In The 'my Pictures' Folder Cannot Be Opened

Hello Compton,This could be down to a number of reasons. Are you logged on the system with an account that has administrative access? The event viewer may give some more information.1. Click Start select run2. Type eventvwr.exe3. Press enter4. Search through the groups for errors and warnings.5. Double click on each error and or warning.6. Locate the copy to clipboard button, (under the two arrows)7. Let us know what you find. (paste the results)

All the pictures in my Pictures folder have disappeared, leaving behind a bunch of empty folders. I did not delete them, and I have no viruses according to AVG. It appears that this happened to a few others on this forum, but no solutions were presented.

If it helps - I noticed that the Read Only button was checked on the main folder, so I unchecked it, and I watched the status window un-apply "read only" protection from all my actual pictures files, so it seems to me that they're still there but invisible.

I performed a system restore, and Recova is in the process of performing a "Deep Scan" for my pictures (the quicker scan did not find the files). Has anyone solved the problem of the disappearing pictures? Is this a Vista problem, or perhaps a problem with an update? Any help would be appreciated!

A:Pictures disappeared from Pictures folder!

Read only shouldn't have anything to do with it. Have you checked the Recycle Bin and AVG's quarantine? Is the Hidden attribute cleared? Have you installed any new programs or updates?

This could be one for the books,

Last night when I went to look at the Pictures folder in My Documents there was a folder of pictures and six other pictures in my folder that no one, not me, nor anyone else downloaded to the computer. All of them are JPG files and we have friends who have e-mailed pictures to us.

However, in my fifteen years of computer experience I know that I would personally have to download those photos to mu computer in order for them to be viewed. A family member has posted unrelated pictures on E-bay. We are trying to think and there were no e-mails opened, no photos looked at, nothing between the time that this happened, (Last Night.) Because a family friend who is into photography sent nature pictures through E-Mail, I just assumed it was from him and said, "Oh, I put those pictures that you downloaded last night in a folder, and the other computer user in my family said, "What pictures?"

I don't use Photo Sharing of any kind, My Avast Anti-Virus log shows now threats. All of the pictures are OLD. BUT here is the interesting thing, of the photo specs of them so far that I can see, they were taken by a person who has the SAME type of camera that we use on this computer. BUT we just got the camera last year and no one else has used it. The dates on those pictures go back from 2000-2003.

There is no evidence of anyone using any photo sharing application software. The computer runs as well as as ever. Any ideas?

A:Mysterious Pictures Showed Up in My "My Pictures" Folder

Do a search by date for the dates a day before and a day after the picture date. Maybe those ppictures were attached to some album or video show viewed recently and automaticly posted to MY PICTURED folder. Or perhaps the person who did email you mistakenly included some pictures, maybe even by forwarding an olld email from the picture taker.

I have a problem with one of my vista accounts' picture folder. When saving to "my pictures", I went back to my "user" folder to find the pictures folder... but the picture I saved was actually saved to what appears to be a 'false' recycle bin; Only, this 'recycle bin' does not behave like the actual recycle bin, since I can browse and even open photos from within it, and it also does not have the "restore" option... When I try to change the name of the "recycle bin" folder to "pictures" (from the properties window) it says that there is already a folder with the name 'pictures', but then refers to the same 'recycle bin' with my photos. How could this have happened? How do we get the folder to return to the normal "pictures" appearance? It's as if part of the software thinks that it's the pictures folder, and part thinks it's (somehow??) the recycle bin (based on its appearance). Thank you.

A:Pictures folder appears to be "recycle bin" but still behaves like "pictures" folder.

Hello Jsprong, and welcome to Vista Forums.

This should be able to help restore this folder for you.
Backup anything that you do not want to lose in these two folders to another location.Use OPTION THREE in this tutorial to make sure that the "Pictures" folder is set to it's default location of "C:\Users\(user-name)\Pictures".Delete both folders.Restart the computer to apply. It may take a couple of restarts before the Pictures folder is back in it's default location. If for some reason the icon is not correct for it, then you can use this tutorial to fix it.Hope this helps,

Hello,I ordered the P50 about 10 days ago, but I can't stop feeling a little uneasy because a lot of people seem unhappy with the FHD display. Most people complain that the color space is atrocious, some say the screen is not bright enough while others say the screen brightness is uneven distributed creating visible vignettes. I am coming from a Lenovo v570 which was released in 2011/2012 and has a 720p TN display. I am hoping that the display of the P50 is as good if not better than that of the v570. So, I am wondering if it is possible for owners of the P50 to post images of the display of the P50 and it'll be even better if there's another laptop by its side for comparison.Thanks.

Some security software may block certain images. If you are using ZoneAlarm Pro or CA (eTrust) Personal Firewall, do the following: 1. Open the Firewall Control Center. 2. Select "Privacy" on the left tabs. 3. Select "Custom" in the Cookie Control section. 4. Uncheck the box for "Disable web bugs" in the "3rd Party Cookies" section. 5. Select "Custom" in the Ad Blocking section. 6. Uncheck the box for "Animation".If the images still don't load correctly, try the solutions in Images or animations do not load.

Was having problems with virtual memory and computer coming to a complete stop due to downloading a Norton upgrade. My computer tech suggested backing up everything on my computer and reloading Windows XP Home Edition. He backed up what he thought was everything on my computer that was under my user name and reloaded my computer but my pictures in my Kodak pictures file were not under my user name; therefore, all of my pictures are gone. The tech has now transferred everything on my computer over to his computer and is now trying to find the pictures. Anyone have any suggestions on how to retrieve the pictures? Has anyone ever had to send the computer to a lab to get info retrieved and how much does it cost? Thanks for your help!

I had moved 'My Pictures' folder away from C: \Users\username\My Pictures when I first set the computer up and I had it in another partitioned drive (E.

For space reason I wanted to move it back to it's original location above and moved the whole folder across to the C: but instead of having it as a folder in the username folder as it should be I merged it in error with the username folder!

The folder is now named My Pictures and has the path C: \Users\My Pictures\ in the registry. I have (hopefully) attached the properties of the folder which shows that there is no location tab. The network path is shown as \\HOME\Users\username.

How do I clean up the folder back to it's standard user folder detail without the merged detail of My Pictures and I guess the easier part is to create a new My Pictures folder and point the registry to it (as per the detail in the top line).

Please help a newbie!

How can I remove all references to subdirectory MyPictures on my C:\ drive?

In the Computer view I see C:\Users\Russell\My Pictures\2010

I somehow deleted the 'My Pictures' folder whilst using OneDrive and now cannot get it back.

Briefly - I was trying to understand the 'My Folders' set up in Windows 7 (I come from XP) and how the these folders 'tie into' folders on my OneDrive space. I managed to 'move' the location of 'My Pictures' so that it pointed to OneDrive, but when I deleted the folder on OneDrive, it deleted the 'My Pictures' folder on my PC. My first attempt was to follow the instructions here:

User Folders - Restore Default Location

..this didn't seem to work. However, it was not until I got to page 3 of 26 of this thread that I saw this link:

Libraries - Restore Default

..and I thought, "ah, ahhh.. that's what I want, 'restore default' - not 'restore to default location'..!" So I tried it and still didn't work. I then read something about the 'My' folders being hidden (Libraries - Hidden and Empty Fix) but that didn't work either.

And yes, I've tried 'turning it off and on again' so many times - but the My Pictures folder will just not appear.

Appreciate any advice - especially as it was on my girlfriends logon..! (luckily only 1 picture in it!)

Thank you

Hi Thimble Guy,

You may need to click the Restore Default first, then change the picture. Take a look at this tutorial and the reply posts below to see if it may help you.

So I still use XP and am pretty ocd about keeping my videos really well organized on my external hard drive. I like to thumbnail (or I guess assign a Folder Picture) my folders with the cover of wtvr that folder contains but for some reason my computer doesn't generate thumbs.db (I've already checked under folder options). Anyway, this causes the thumbnails to load up REALLY slowly or sometimes doesn't generate the designated folder pictures at all.

ANYWAY, anybody here know a fix/program that lets me dress up folder pictures through explorer? Not talking about icons here.

My Pictures Folder has changed, previously the pictures display covered my entire desktop, now all I have is a Tile listing folders vertically. How do I return to have my pictures in the full desktop? Thanks.

A:Pictures folder

If I understand the question properly there's 2 ways to change the view of a Folder's contents. One way is on the Menu bar in View, several choices. The other way is an icon on the Toolbar just above the list that gives the same choices of View.

I accidentally deleted My Pictures and it also got emptied in the recycle folder. My Pictures were all backed up to a CD so I didn't loose any. I opened My Documents and made a new My Picture folder and got it set up in my send to. When I set up my web cam it is suppose to put a LifeCam Files folder in My Pictures which it didn't. Then I get a message that says it can't find the LifeCam Files folder. I'm thinking that something is not set up right since I made a replacement folder and programs can't find the My Picture folder. Any Ideas

Hi, I'm trying to open My Pictures on my wife's laptop but I get this error message Your folder can't be shared. This also happens to other folders on the laptop. I've tried to change Security Settings but it usually leads me to an endless layer of pop ups which finally ends with me being unable to change the setting. This is my wife's private home laptop and you can just imagine how important it is to be able to view pictures and videos of our grandchildren. I just need to relax the high security settings and make this work. Any help at all would be so appreciated.

Thank you,

Is it on thumbnail view? Perhaps you have not updated your computer and or done a disk defragment or scan disk, this might just fix errors and cross links for you and may do the trick. You can do this by going to My computer and right click on C: drive and to properties, there you will see clean disk which you should do and also after that click the tab on top that says Tools and you will see the two. Just click on scan disk first and then do the defragment next while rebooting after you're done defragment it will scan disk for you.

Make sure it's not on thumbnails size view, right click on an empty space of that folder after it's open without scrolling down or anything if it doesn't give you an error after the scan disk and defragment and then just change it not to view as thumbnails, see if this does the trick for you.

I just got the Adobe Premiere Elements 11, the video editor plus the Organizer. I was putting some photos from My Pictures into a folder in the Organizer when I noticed that the My Pictures folder was empty. Before this it had at least two hundred photos in it.

Now when I click on the My Pictures folder what comes up is an Adobe folder. If I click on the Properties I see, "This folder is empty."

I have a new HP computer with Windows 7. I have an external hard drive for the backup but I did not connect it yet.

My photos are now scattered throughout the My Documents folder. Is there a way to get everything back the way it was an hour ago?

A:All the photos from My Pictures folder are gone. What do I do?

Open up Elements and see if you can find the files in it. Photoshop likes to grab your photos and place them in order of date shot as I remember. Much like Picassa if allowed it will re-organize all your pictures as well. I too like my pictures in my folders and then bring the ones I want into Photoshop for changes then save them back to the same or alternate folders of my choosing.

I made one of the dumbest mistakes yet....I accidentaly deleted the pistures folder while trying to burn them. I dragged the folder to the desktop but didnt want it there so, thinking it was only a shortcut, deleted it...oops.
Anyway I had most of the photos on my external H/D and I made a new folder in my documents to put them in but it would be nice to get there using the start menu Pictures button. Can anyone tell me how to link this new folder to this button. I am using Vista home premium with service pack 2.

thanks for this, I just had a similar problem. ShadonExplorer really saved the day. Question... does anyone know why this happens and how to avoid it? I had just transferred some pictures using Picassa, and then it all disappeared... any idea?

A:Pictures Folder disappeared

Hmmm , did you mean ShadowExplorer.com - Downloads
As far as why it happens is anyones guess, if it happens all the time it is usually a hardware failure tho. The once in a while issues are hard to diagnose. I hate intermittent issues, hard to trouble shoot , as when you trouble shoot , everything shows good.. lol .

I'm new here and this is my first post. A few weeks ago, I got a computer message that said something about virtual memory being low and that the computer would fix that on its own. I have had that message before in the years that I've had this computer and nothing bad happened, so I didn't pay it much attention. A couple of days later though, I noticed the My Pictures folder missing from my start menu and my desktop. I have some photos backed up on an external modem and those appear to still be there, but when I click on them to display, I just get a blank screen. Now, I'm trying to update my iTunes software and the download goes well until the last few seconds, when I'm informed that some critical components it needs from the My Pictures folder aren't there. Also, I'm having trouble unloading my digital camera onto the computer and I'm starting to think the missing My Pictures folder is behind that too. Can anyone help me? I am at a total loss of what to do. I haven't done anything yet, because I'm afraid to mess it up even more.

My computer info:

Dell Dimension 2400
Windows XP
Service Pack 2

THANK YOU in advance!

In the 'My Pictures' folder of 'My Documents' I have it set up for thumbnail view.
However, I am not able to see the titles of the thumbnails. I have no idea what happened.
It just appeared this way one day. I've tried going through the options, control panel, etc. and still can't figure anything out.
Somebody help me please.

A:Can't see Folder titles in 'My Pictures'

If you have the view set to show Thumbnails do the following:
Open the folder to see the thumbnails.
Hold the Shift key down and click on the View button and select Details.
Remove your finger from the Shift key. You now see file names.
Hold the Shift key down and click on the View button and select Thumbnails.
You will now see thumbnails with file names under them.
