USB smartphone driver failure

Q: USB smartphone driver failure

Acer 5738Z running Win 7 64 bit

New XiaoMi Rednote 3 smartphone

Plug phone into USB the first time and a driver is loaded and everything works fine

Reboot laptop and plug in phone - laptop makes bingbong noise as if it recognises the phone but the phone does not appear in My Computer.

Check Device Manager - the phone is shown but with a warning triangle.

Driver gives the message "Windows cannot initialize the device driver for this hardware. (Code 37)"

The only way to make it work is to uninstall the device and reinstall the driver.

I've tried a motherboard reset to no avail

Guidance welcome

I recommend downloading and running DAP. It can help sort out any driver and firmware related issues on your system

It's worked out well for many of us in the past.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloaddap.org. (This link will open the download page of DAP so you can save a copy to your computer.)

Hi,

I've been browsing the site and the internet for a sollution to my problem, but can't seem te find it. There are similar postings, but they're always just a little different. So that's why i posted the new thread.

Since a couple of days i've been experiencing troubles shutting down my PC and using my USB ports. It started when i tried to log onto my work from home. It failed and the IT guy from work told me to reinstall citrix reciever. So I did and I was able to work from home. After finishing and logging out (to get back to my own PC) I found that my USB portst didn't work anymore. I tried rebooting, but af 10 minutes of "shutting down" I got a blue screen: Driver Power State Failure with code 1000009f.

I did the following:
- tried system restore - it failed with different time stamps
- update drivers - they were all up to date the system said
- Malware Bytes, CC Cleaner, MS Essentials, Hitman pro - Did them all, had some minor stuff, fixed that, problem remained.
- SFC/scannow - no problems
- Memory check - no problems

As it is now, the only update I have left is the update to WIN10. However it has tried and failed during a few of the reboots, so that doesn't seem to be and option.

After try all different kinds of things from a lot of posts I decided to refresh my windows install. Did a lot of updating and still the problem remains. Although I now found out that USB devices that are plugged in upon startup work. Once I unplug en replug them, t... Read more

Hey, I got some BSOD problems. Do you got time & experience to help me?

I got Windows 8 at the moment, I will install 8.1 shortly. Had 8.1 before i re-installed OS when the first BSOD showed up, so I doubt that 8.1 will fix things completely.

My problems ATM!

- Driver Power State Failure
- Video TDR Failiure (nvlddmkm.sys)
- Screen freezes at start up or when I get to the desktop
- Have to Disable my NVIDIA GeForce GTX 675M to use the CPU (Windows has stopped this device because it has reported problems. (Code 43).

Got two other kinds of BSOD before I re-installed windows but don't remember what they said, I just felt like "Hey I need to re-install my OS anyways so w/e". But apparently that didn't solve the problems.

I also gained "NVIDIA Windows Kernel Mode Driver, Version 340.52 stopped working While playing CS:GO" but that was before I re-installed windows. And now to use my CPU I need to go into Device Manager and shutdown my NVIDIA card to be able to use the CPU and use the Intel card instead. If I don't shut it down my CPU will freeze the screen for days, til I restart or I get a BSOD.

I will buy a can of air and open up my laptop and blow some dust away, perhaps that could help? Perhaps the NVIDIA card is burned/broken and I have to buy a new PC?

I've tried a few different driver for my NVIDIA card also, nothing works.

I'm no computer expert and thats why I'm here begging for help, so if someone could help me out here I would appreci... Read more

Hello,

I would appreciate any help with the following problem: the pc sometimes seemingly randomly shows BSOD with errors named in the title, I also attach corresponding screenshots. The problem wont happen if the PC power is supplied from the adapter AND there is some content running on the screen (video in VLC f.ex.). Other important symptoms are: Can not turn off the laptop. There will be endless blue screen saying shutting down, while PC already stopped working. I also can not get the PC to sleep. If i I go to sleep mode, display turns black, PC is still working on and on and I can not go back to desktop anymore.

Thank you very much for your help.

I was looking at my system logs today and found an error that is being repeated quite a lot and I would like to get rid of the darned error.

The error in the applications event loge is TrueVector Service, event 5003. The message in the event says:

TrueVector driver: Driver install or load failure: LoadNTDeviceDriver. Win32 error: The system cannot find the file specified.

I checked on the Internet and have found numerous resources indicating that TrueVector is a part of zone alarm. The weird part is that I have never had zone alarm or any other firewall installed -- Note even Microsft's within XP SP2. I have no references to Zone Alarm in my registry. My references to TrueVetor are in My Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\Eventlog\Application\TrueVector Service

Can someone suggest any soluton to getting rid of this event?

I am receiving random BSODs with the subject line description.  My first stop was to the HP Support site to possibly update any drivers (like bios??).  I found many driver updates available, including 2 for the bios.  I really have no clue as to which driver updates to install, even after reading the details.  I looked for where it says recommended or required or something but didn't see it.  I then installed the HP Support Solutions and did a scan to determine what drivers it thought I needed and it came up with none.  Now I'm real confused.  Does that mean all the driver updates on the HP site are just optional?  Can someone provide a good site link to read about how to determine which drivers are needed?  Thank you for your help!

Hi all!

I have a HP Pavilion tx2000 P/N: KN966UA#ABA with Windows Vista Home Premium Build 6002: Service Pack 2.

I recently just bought a HP xb4 Docking Station for it, which uses Connector 3 for expansion.

When I first boot up, everything works fine, I'm checking email, or surfing the net, until suddely all the USB's would stop functioning and in a few minutes or so, I would get a blue screen with either a "Driver Power State Failure, or a Bug Code USB Driver" error.

I have been dealing with this issue for a number of weeks, searching online, or working with the issue myself, maybe finding some type of common application or hardware piece that might be causing it, but no luck!

I have attached the last Dump File.

Any suggestions?

Thanks and I can't wait for Win7!

Okay, so here's the deal. A while back, (like 6 months ago), I began to get the occasional BSOD. Since my computer needed more RAM anyway, I took this as an opportunity to upgrade to 2GB of RAM. However, I kept on getting the issue. Then, I installed a fresh version of Windows, but still encountered the problem. All of my drivers are up to date. Currently, the computer is "workable" but many hardware intensive activities will cause the computer to either completely lock up, or go to a BSOD. For example, I can play TF2 for somewhere around 20 minutes before I will get a memory reference error. Other times, it will crash and yield a IRQL error on the BSOD. According to Whocrashed, these crashes have been caused by everything from Avast, to the Windows Kernel, to the video driver. To make matters even more fun, I've run memtest86 for 7 cycles on both of my RAM sticks without any problems. At this point I've run out of options for what I can do. Any help is much appreciated.

I have a problem with my PC. It's worked fine for a few months now (it's new) but all of a sudden I'm getting 'nvlddmkm driver' failures which were simply making my screen blank out until it recovered. But as of today it's causing whatever program I'm runnning to stop responding (inc 3d mark advantage, if I try do a Graphics card test) and it will only run for 2-3 minutes at a time. I assume the problem has arisen with a Vista update (I run Vista Ultimate x64). I have visited NVIDIA site and downloaded latest drivers for my 2x NVIDIA GTX 285's, and double checked windows updates. I've also read alot of forums all of which seemed to be rather old and with no real solution or definative cause.

What can I do?

Ok, this story is long so take your time while reading. Please read it all, thanks.

I opened my network connections in XP to find that I had no local area connection even though I was clearly hard wired into the router. My internet was down and I couldn't get a connection to anything.

I installed my WRT54GL Linksys router around a week ago and ever since then I got random internet connection drops over my wired connection. It happened about once or twice a day until now, as I'm typing this. I'm currently using my laptop wirelessly as my desktop doesn't have a wireless card and is out on internet. Everytime my internet dropped I didn't think anything of it and logged off or restarted my PC and it was back up. The same thing happened today, I lost my internet, but this time I decided to open up my network connections screen to find out my local area connect was gone. I logged off expecting the same thing to work as the past week not knowing it was going to fail.

When I logged back on I still didn't have internet and proceeded to do the most basic things to check for an internet connection. My laptop was connected at this time wirelessly. Anywho, I did a system restore to the day before hoping that would help, it didn't. Next I called my ISP to see if they could help.... They couldn't. I called my Linksys router support number next and they verified everything was working with my laptop and my wireless, even my wired was fine. So we di... Read more

I am confused to decide which is better Samsung galaxy s4 or htc one or iphone 5 or xperia z

things want to consider first thing battery backup, then resolution then camera of course which has the best look

read several reviews and so confused please help

A:Which is the best smartphone to buy?

The Galaxy S4 is basically equivalent to the HTC One. The HTC One though, has a better camera and has an aluminum shell. The S4 has a more mediocre camera and a plastic shell (cheaper build quality). They both have basically the same screen. I own an iPhone 5 and love it. The OS is just becoming stale though, and Android (on the S4 and HTC One) is more for power users. iOS (iPhone) is geared more toward rookies who dont know what they are doing since it is so simple. I would take the Xperia Z off of your list since it doesnt match up.

Check out TechSpots' reviews on all three phones:
Galaxy S4: http://www.techspot.com/review/664-samsung-galaxy-s4/
HTC One: http://www.techspot.com/products/smartphones/htc-one.87473/ (I cannot find a full review on TS and posting another sites review would be considered kind of bias)

I have recently gotten a new Samsung Galaxy S II smartphone. I've never had one before. So, I'm trying to figure out how to use it so that I don't accidentally get charge for something not necessarily bad as much as like "accidentally banging your finger with a hammer". Right now, it appears to automatically access the Wi-Fi when it's in range and I'm installing free apps. Will I need to keep an eye on that so that it doesn't download apps (or additional app data) via a cell tower? (I did find a setting called "Wi-Fi Calling Settings" under which I can select Wi-Fi Prefered, Wi-Fi Only, Cellular Prefered.) There's, also, a gps on mine. I've found Google Maps, Google Latitude, Navigation, and TeleNav GPS Navigating that can use the gps in one way or another. How far into those programs can I use the gps before I start getting charged for data usage? Is there anything else I need to be careful of so that I don't end up surprised at the end of the billing cycle?

Okay, bit of a puzzle here, and the solution entitle "reformat 101" is really not preferable in this case.
This thing is odd enough that I don't even honestly know what information is needed and what isn't, so I'll just put down what seems most likely.

I uninstalled a program called Spampal because it was giving odd errors (which I don't remember). After the uninstall, the computer began to give a warning about socket failure, and the network connection died. The card's icon in Network Connections shows Limited or No Connectivity, and if I attempt to access the properties dialogue, it simply kills Explorer. The same thing happens when I attempt to access properties in anything that could help me, such as My Computer (for Device Manager). I attempted to reinstall the drivers off of both the cd that came with the motherboard (an Asus A7V600-X) as well as those on their website (thanks to another computer), but in both cases it loads the installshield loader, finishes with that, and then freezes up, unable to load the setup program. Win 7 won't let me install Network drivers. PITA, I can't get onto the internet. Had the issue last week and a tech guy discovered there were two IP addresses, one of which was bogus (after several hours of troubleshooting). He deleted the bogus IP address and I got on the internet. Next day, same issue. I ultimately uninstalled the network drivers and Win re-installed them and was able to get on the net. Today, same thing. This time when I uninstalled and Win reinstalled the drivers no luck. After spending a ton of time I downloaded the latest HP network drivers and tried installing - no luck. Win siad I had to uninstall the current dirvers, which I did, but before I could do anything Win re-installed them. After much searching on the net I found a Windows page that showed how to prevent Win from re-installing the drivers by changing the policy. Did that the uninstalled the network drivers. Win tried re-installing but rather than real drivers just showed a yellow icon. Tried to run the HP setup file and got an error message that the "existing" drivers had to be uninstalled!! (Checked on network connection for the adapter and it said there were no network adapters.) Win 7 tried re-installing the drivers but returned an error that they couldn't be installed due to the policy restriction. I went back into "gptconfig.msc and changed the policy back to "Not configured", re-booted and still get the message that the "policy" is preventing installation of the network ... Read more

This morning I got on my computer and went about what I usually do. All of a sudden my mouse locked up and the screen went blank. It came back on in safe mode, said it recovered from a device driver failure and wanted me to restart. Since then, it has happened about 4 more times. I did a scan, checked to make sure all drivers were up to date, went to Microsoft and updated stuff there, did a virus scan and it is still doing it. I also went to PC Pitstop and scanned there. Can anyone tell me why this keeps doing this?

Hi all,
I have a Toshiba Satellite Pro L300-153 [PSLB1E-01S015EN] running Vista 32 bit [Service Pack 1]
When I boot the machine I get a pop up window indicating the system has found new hardware and asking to install the drivers for this hardware. I agree and let these drivers load automatically. I get a message saying the best driver software is already installed [but it still doesnt work].
The hardware is "Realtek RTL8101 Family PCI-E Fast Ethernet NIC (NDIS 6.0)" and
"Realtek RTL8187B Wireless 802.11b/g 54Mbps USB 2.0 Network Adapter"
I have also tried downloading the latest drivers from The Realtek site and they have installed but again I still have the found new hardware window popup and the network will not work.
I have tried everything I can think of. I have run ccleaner to clean the rgistry and found no errors. I have run spybot search and destroy and found no errors. I have run Norton cleaner to uninstall or clean and old versions of norton which may have been on the machine and found no errors. I have run Malwarebytes and found no errors.
I have run chkdsk on my drive and found no errors. I have run sfc /scannow as administrator [which I am on my machine] and I have found errors. My issue with these errors is that they all point to:

Hi,

Last month I reported a Virus Protector Malware virus on my laptop. Not long after (2 weeks) I experienced the same problem on my desktop PC. My desktop currently runs a duel boot of Windows Vista (x86) and Windows 7 (x64) Beta. Vista is the primary OS with W7 running FLight Simulator for testing. When I was experiencing problems with the malware on Vista I had an issue with W7 not working as well. These two OS run on seperate HDD. Prior to adressing the malware on Vista I experienced a boot error "BOOTMNGR not found press Ctrl+Alt+Del" and could not boot to either OS. I tried to boot from the Vista CD and received a IRQL_NOT_LESS_THAN_OR_EQUAL BSOD. I tried to boot from the W7 CD and managed to repair the Start Up for it.

The BIG problem I have is I cannot boot up Vista. I either recieved the above BSOD or on occasion I can ge the Vista Install screen up. However, when I do click Repair Windows it cannot find and OS for from the HDD. I have disconnected the other HDD while running this as well with the same result. From W7 I can see the Vista HDD (D:\ drive). The Device Manager in W7 says that the HDD is working properly in the properties menu but it cannot accessthe drive or it's data.

I am desperate for help to retrive data from the Vista drive before upgrading to W7 fully. I hope it is not a HDD failure. Can you help?

Dear Fiends,

I have a problem. My display goes blank and if I switch off the monitor and switch on my display is back. Sometimes it recovers on its own. The msg is "display driver igfx failed and recovered". I have Intel(R)82945G Express Chipset display driver and I tried to update and it says it is the latest and updated one. What to do?

Appreciate your help. Thank You

I'm not a *fiend*, but I'll try to help.

How old is your monitor? When my husband's flat-screen monitor began to fail, it exhibited many peculiar antics. I plugged my FSM into his computer, and it worked just fine (they were identical setups). If the driver is correct and up to date, then I'd suspect a bad monitor.

Hi all, I had to join up and ask about this because I'm at my whits end with this problem. Recently, my computer has had problems with the display driver. It will be fine one moment, but as soon as I try to watch a video or play Minecraft, something graphics intensive in general, the screen will freeze, go black, and come back normal. A pop up message comes up saying that the display driver failed, but it has been successfully recovered. It'll be fine for a little bit, but then things go down hill again, and the screen does this: When I take a screen shot, the issue doesn't show up. Now I fixed it last week by reverting to an old display driver and running CHKDSK, and that fixed it. Now it has come back with vengeance as of last night, and nothing can fix it. I should also mention, this is a laptop, and nothing shows up on the actual laptop screen, I have to run it through a monitor to even see anything. Some basics on my system: Lenovo T61p4GB RamnVidia Quadros FX570M graphics cardWindows Vista Business 32-bit And in the off chance this could be some kind of malware, I have run ComboFix and HijackThis, and can provide logs if needed. All I really need is some advice, because this is driving me up a wall now. Thanks a bunch in advance.

I have just got a new video card and I can't install the drivers. The CD or the software is messed up. I open up the installation program and it hangs, it just says that its performed an illegal operation. I uninstalled the drivers from my old card but I couldn't get all of them, it won't remove them because the card isn't in the machine(I know, windows is f%@&ing stupid!) I tried installing the drivers through windows but windows has out of date drivers from 3 years ago, I installed them anyway, no luck. I tried finding them on the install CD through the Have Disk option in the windows driver install but windows couldn't find them, most likely because it was looking for 3 year old drivers(my moms idea not mine). The card is an ATI All In Wonder Pro 128 and I'm giddy as hell about finally getting it, I have a Ricoh CDRW Drive, I honestly don't know the speed, it doesn't say it on the drive and I can't find the box, I would guesstimate its about 50x, I have 192MBs of ram, and an AMD Duron 800 MHZ.

Hi guys,

I'm getting the error mentioned in the title whenever my windows 7 ultimate 64 bit goes pass the Welcome screen.

All I get is a black screen with that error, and then once I press OK it'll go into the desktop. It seems to get stuck in the welcome screen for a bit longer than usual if the error appears.

Any idea what may cause this?

Hi, first time poster, hoping to get some answers.

I have an HP Pavilion 2030SA laptop runniing Windows 7 that I got at Xmas, which has been working great until last night's automatic Windows update. Now it boots up but all the USB, network & IR drivers are disabled, code 39. I have tried deleting/reinstalling the devices in Device Manager, and running the startup repair from the Windows 7 DVD, to no avail. It doesn't recognize them in safe mode either. I know it is definitely not a hardware issue, as I have 2 copies of Windows on my machine, one for general use & one for music production, and the music production one is fine. It is not connected to the net so it did not get the update. I can only hypothesize it is the update that has caused this, but I tried uninstalling the last few updates and this didn't do anything either. Also grabbed the HP drivers from their website on my old laptop, got them onto my new laptop through the other music partition (USB doesn't work!), and tried installing them, which also didn't work.

I'm reluctant to do a clean install as I have a lot of data on there & programs installed. I'll do it if I have to, but I'm hopeful there is a fix!

Your assistance / suggestions are welcome.

- Steve

There have been quite a few updates of late and it is possible your driver was corrupted.
IF this is only happened last evening there's a good chance you might be able to go back 2-3 days doing a System Restore, what you are looking for is when it did the last update and go back before that happened and see if this helps get your USN, Network etc. back.

I recently bought a nice Dell XPS laptop 1340 with a nvidia geforce 9500m series graphics card, 4 gig of ram, and P8800 2.66mghz processor and for some reason it cant manage to play even the simplest games.

I've tried a variety of small games including DnD online, and Portal. both of which worked almost perfectly on my older laptop that never had the power this one does.

Every time I try to play any of those, or anything requiring more power, it just doesn't work. The screen will go black and I'll have to task manage my way out of it. When I do get out of the game though there is a notice in my system tray about the device drivers having failed and just recovered. I just changed my OS to Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit and it works a little better than it did on Vista. But just recently it cause a BSOD with an error I didn't get to completely read before shutting down. It said something about the device drivers not functioning properly and windows was shutting down to protect my machine from any damage.

I have tried deleting the drivers and reinstalling them, I have reinstalled my OS and others, I've tried to talk to dell and no one there will listen to me they just want to delete and reinstall my drivers over and over again but thats not working, does anyone here have any ideas or help? I would really appreciate it! <3

Guys,
I need your help
I'm suffering from BSOD every now and then especially when I enable optimus in my bios.
The bsod is Driver_POWER_FAILURE
I've attached the dump files with my system specs
I appreciate if someone tell me what is causing the problem
.

A:Driver Power Failure

Hi,

The crash dump is blaming your NVIDIA video driver, but it is not that simple and that is not the actual cause. So, we ponder.

Code:
2: kd> lmvm PBADRV
start end module name
fffff800`01a45000 fffff800`01a51000 PBADRV (deferred)
Image path: PBADRV.sys
Image name: PBADRV.sys
Timestamp: Mon Jan 07 14:12:13 2008 (4782798D)
CheckSum: 000085EF
ImageSize: 0000C000
Translations: 0000.04b0 0000.04e4 0409.04b0 0409.04e4

As you can see, this driver above is running scared and won't even tell me its location on the machine, which is highly unusual in and of itself. Search your computer for it or look in C:\Windows\System32\drivers for it. When found, rename it to PBADRV.BAK then reboot.

Please update this driver:

Code:
cvusbdrv cvusbdrv.sys Tue May 10 17:05:33 2011 (4DC9A89D)

Driver Reference Table - cvusbdrv.sys

Please update your Creative Camera driver, which is the most likely culprit:

Code:
CtClsFlt CtClsFlt.sys Mon Jun 15 01:06:41 2009 (4A35D6E1)

Hello all
Trying to sort out my roommate's computer, but haven't got a clue what's wrong with it. It's a 4 year old Toshiba laptop running Vista, with an AMD Turion X2 Ultra Dual-Core Mobile ZM-80 processor. It's running out of harddrive space, but the typical CPU usage seems to be holding at less than 25 percent. It went in to the shop a couple of months ago, to have the CD drive re-sitted and the screen replaced. It had to go back to have the screen replaced a second time, because the one they installed had dead spots.

The screen is still giving us issues (the connecting cable seems loose). It goes black frequently when the computer is moved. Recently, things have been running slowly on the computer, namely Hulu and similar sites. I tried running Malware Bytes to see if a virus could be slowing it down, but the program won't complete. It gets close but then either the screen goes to a broken image, all colors and lines like fuzz on a TV or it goes to the blue screen and says the Driver Power has failed. Same happens if I try running a full sweep of Webroot, the spyware program I mainly use. Only Webroot stays running, so they shouldn't be conflicting. I was assuming it's the screen, but I don't like that it shuts down every time I run a scan of any sort. It's making me paranoid, I admit.

A:Driver Power Failure

well, i had a laptop at on time and the graphics card had two pins to connect to the screen so i could see how a similar type connection could slip. you would need to go to a shop to get those sorted out. the screen might be a loose RAM. other than that i couldn't tell you.

Hi all-

If someone has a moment and could look at my minidmp file it would be greatly appreciated. This only happens when resuming from sleep. Sometimes it will come up with the splash screen but the login screen freezes and won't let me type in a password to login, which results in two restarts.
