"UCM-UCSI ACPI Device" driver keeps appearing and disappearing from the Device Manager

Q: "UCM-UCSI ACPI Device" driver keeps appearing and disappearing from the Device Manager

On my X1 Extreme (20MF000CUS) I recently noticed that when I open the Windows 10 Device Manager the list of devices keeps refreshing, like a new hardware scan is being forced every 2-3 seconds. I started disabling all the devices one by one and I finally narrowed down the culprit: USB Connect Managers -> UCM-UCSI ACPI Device (Hardware Id: ACPI\VEN_USB&DEV_C000) This device, when active, keeps appearing and disappearing from the device manager tree forcing a refresh every few seconds. And it only happens when my Lenovo Thunderbolt Dock (40AN0230US) is connected. When I disconnect the dock the driver stops disappearing and becomes stable. Opening the driver Properties -> Details I get: Status: 01802400 (DN_HAS_PROBLEM)Problem code: 00000016 Any idea what is going on?

I recommend downloading and running DAP. It can help sort out any driver and firmware related issues on your system

It's worked out well for many of us in the past.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloaddap.org. (This link will open the download page of DAP so you can save a copy to your computer.)

USB Hard Drive when I connect the drive I get a constant bell sound and watching Device Manager shows a yellow ! with "USB Device" constantly appearing / disappearing... it will do this forever. All Flash drives work fine (I have several).

No issues until after I installed SP3.
The drive works fine on my laptop with SP3 but it is my backup drive for my desktop!
After SP3 install updated all the drivers for the PC and it made no difference, same problem.
Formatted the drive using my laptop and tried it, same problem.

Anyone?

Hi all, first post here... I am re-installing Windows 8.1 and the required drivers for my Yoga 3 Pro (to get rid of Superfish, started the task before the Lenovo tool came out...) I am almost there, except for one unknown device in the Device Manager, which has a code in its detail of ACPI\VPC2004. A quick google gives me a link to - Lenovo http://support.lenovo.com/us/en/documents/ht071645 - and a page which says 'Download and run the Energy Management from Lenovo support website with the proper Operating System version. This will install the chipset INF files so that Windows properly recognizes the virtual power controller ACPI/VPC2004.' All apparently clear. However I am rather unclear on which file on the relevant yoga page ( http://support.lenovo.com/gb/en/products/laptops-and-netbooks/yoga-series/yoga-3-pro-1370-laptop-len... ) I should be using? - I have already installed all of the drivers on that page (other than the intel wireless LAN and bluetooth as the yoga has Broadcomm). Any thoughts or direction would be massively appreciated! Thanks!

Hello, I have an M-Audio midi-uno and it isn't popping up anywhere in windows 8; it plugs in via usb 2.0.
When I plug it in a light on the device turns on and slowly flashes on/off.
When I plug it into my piano and play notes the indicator lights that show key presses flash on/off

Yet when I load up mixcraft 6 it doesn't show the device.
Device manager doesn't show the device. (in Sound, game and video controllers) (I do click refresh devices)
I've tried adding the device and using the troubleshooters.
M-audio says the device shouldn't need drivers (Yet I found my w7 laptop needed the drivers)
Their website has w8 driver downloads but they aren't actually w8 drivers. They do not have drivers for w8. (it's just the w7 driver)

I know there's nothing wrong with the device, i've used it for the last 3 weeks playing the harp/auxiliary Piano in a musical. (it was plugged into my laptop)
my desktop obviously is more powerful than my laptop and I would rather use my piano in a system that doesn't lag.

I've contacted m-audio support and they didn't say much:
Try plugging into usb 2.0
Try testing to make sure the device works

Does anyone know anything else I can try? Other than waiting for M-audio to release w8 drivers that will never come out because windows 8 has no support for midi.
Maybe some tool that I don't know about?

The AUDIO FADE PROBLEM is an issue with this laptop and I am wondering if it is related to the above.
I have upgraded to the latest BIOS and drivers using the Dell Product Support pages.
Every other day I have to reinstall the Realtek Audio Device to get audio from streaming media.
The current Driver Version is 6.0.1.7908 from Realtek Semiconductor Corp. Date 12/08/2016 which is what it defaults to upon reinstall.
I suspect that for whatever reason Dell has not yet come up with a fix. Has it something to do with the fact that although I bought the laptop new, it had been upgraded from Windows 8 to 10? (A fact that I only discovered later)

Not sure which forum category I should use, thus using software (for Driver Problems).  Various times to fix a device you can go into Device Manager  and uninstall the driver, go to top of page click on Actions and click on Search For New Devices.  I am under the impression this will uninstall the device driver, then reinstall the exact same driver (code).  Why does this work?  It appears that the exact same code is now reinstalled and many times fixes a problem.  I have used this technique on mouse driver, internet driver, keyboard driver.  THis is a good and easy first process to try and make a quick fix.

Again, I am just trying to figure out why it works - I know I am missing something.  As an ex-programmer trying to figure out why the same code now will work when it had stopped working.

Why or under what circumstances does the driver code stop working, and then why does a reinstall of it at times lets it start working again.

So far I have tried:

Deleting and redownloading audio drivers
Adding legacy hardware for Realtek
ePSA test was able to hear the tones
The audio logo has a red X through it and only the bluetooth headphones drivers appear in device manager. Any ideas what might be the issue and how to solve them?

I'm running XP Pro on a home built system and the web Cam is an Nortek NX Vega.

I've uninstalled all drivers from the TV card and run a re-install again of the Webcam and still the same result. I've even been to the nortek website and downloaded a copy of the drivers and software from there.

Does anyone have any ideas on how to remedy this problem. It will be greatly appreciated

DVD ROM appears in device manager after start up for a few seconds then disappears. Showing Error Code 45 (not connected to computer)

Earlier this evening it also showed error code 10 (device cannot start)

Opening and closing the tray prompts it to show in device manager but again for only a few seconds.

Loading a data CD will get it to run and it works for as long as it is being used then disappears from device manager again.

Update
This not a upper/lower filters issue and BIOS is set to AHCI not IDE

Is there a setting that is incorrectly configured?

Alright mate,

Click Start, Computer. At the top left you should see "Organise". Go in there and click "Folder and search options" Select "View" from the three tabs at the top. Look for the tick box that says "Hide empty drive in the Computer folder" and untick it. Press "Apply" and "Close/OK" and should be fine.

Thanks for reading, hope someone can help. Just noticed a few days ago that my two Blu Ray writers are not appearing in "Computer" or the Device Manager.

The only major issue I've had with the computer recently was that I was getting a Microsoft blue screen stating that my computer had crashed due to a memory management issue. Looked it up and several suggestions were to update computer drivers. Downloaded and ran Iobt's Driver Booster 6 which updated 19 system drivers which corrected my blue screen memory management issue.

Between then and now has been perhaps 3 weeks. In the meantime this computer received a Microsoft Update on the last patch Tuesday (March 19) which was KB4023057. This may or may not be the problem but shortly after this was when I noticed I now had no way to access my Blu Ray drives.

In the Device Manager the two drives can be seen by clicking "view" and "show hidden devices". One suggestion I found was to right click and remove the drives, then reboot and windows would recognize the drives and install the appropriate drivers. This did not work, the only thing that happened was that the entire cd/rom drive category disappeared from the device manager under view hidden devices setting so I did a system restore and got the entries back.

Another suggestion was to right click on the drives in the device manager (show hidden devices) and click "update driver". This resulted in a statement that the late... Read more

I currently have 2 graphics cards which 4 monitors are connected. Recently 2 of the monitors went black and I checked device manager to see that one of the GPUs was gone.

I restarted and it reappeared and the monitors came back like normal. This only worked for about a day until it did it again.

I took out and re-seated both of them, uninstalled and completely removed all drivers and reinstalled and was fine but it did it again.

Is this the beginning on the end for one of the cards? Would running a stability test like furmark determine if one of them is about to die?

Hello there. I have done something that is rather foolish. I have a Turtle Beach z22 headset, and I read that the USB cord for the headset doesn't work well with USB 3.0 ports, so I decided make an attempt to run the drivers for USB 2.0 on my USB 3 port. However, this didn't work the way I expected. The reason for trying to have the port run the 2.0 drivers is because it's the only port next to my audio jack, and in order to use a 2.0 port I would have to reach my USB cord all the way across my keyboard. My USB 3.0 driver for the port no longer appears in my device manager, and whenever I plug anything into the port, my laptop no longer registers it. Is there any way to get the USB 3.0 drivers running again?

Hello

This happened 3 days ago and I am struggling on figuring it out on my own.

I am having some issues with my computer that I built in 2011 and have slowly upgraded since then. My most recent update has turned up in failure for the moment - I purchased an intel celeron i5 processor to replace the current one (specs below) but learned through trial and error that the i5 is not compatible with my motherboard. I didn't try to seal the new processor, I noticed quickly that it was not going to fit. I didn't close the gate on it or press hard on it whatsoever which makes me feel like I did not bend a pin in the motherboard. So I reseated the old processor with chagrin and plugged my power and video cables back into my tower but my AOC 24" monitor did not pick up any video through my Nvidia geforce 730 (plugged in through DVI). I made sure the cable was plugged into the correct spot and I have taken it out and put it back in and reseated the gpu maybe 3 times since this happened. I have run a multitude of troubleshooting and I am currently at a loss for why my computer does not recognize my gpu. The GPU fan spins (receives power), but when I open the device manager the only display adapter that displays is the Intel(R) HD Graphics, and not the NVIDIA card. I uninstalled all NVIDIA drivers and all AMD drivers (this gpu is an upgrade from the original gpu which was an AMD), and I downloaded NVIDIA geforce experience and the most up to date driver for this card but... Hi there, I have a problem where the CD drive does not appear in "My Computer" however it does appear in the device manager. I cannot check whether it appears in the BIOS because HP limits what you can do to the laptop. This is a HP Pavilion DV6500 Notebook.

It used to function okay then for no apparent reason it has disappeared. It does not appear in Drive Management so it hasn't got anything to do with not being assigned a drive letter.

Interesting thing is. The CD tray has power it opens okay. And the drive light on the CD tray lights up when I place a CD in the drive and close it. You can even hear the CD drive powering up and spinning. But the computer shows nothing of its existence apart from device manager.

I have tried restoring the computer completely back to factory settings and there has been no change. Any suggestions?

Many Thanks

Joe

EDIT: found out the Fujitsu MHY2250 in disk drives in device manager is in fact not the disk drive, this is the hardrive. Does this indicate that the disk drive has died then? It doesnt appear in Disk Manager or My Computer.

First time ditching my HP world for a Thinkpad.... I purchased a new old stock T470s still with Windows 7. Everything was working well, except when trying to update drivers using the Lenovo System Update Tool. I would get repeated FwUpdateCmd errors and after tracking those down I found out it was in reference to the thunderbolt plug. I tried changes in the bios but kept getting the FwUpdateCmd errors. Thunderbolt worked just fine on the original drivers and firmware as delivered, AND it showed up in Device Manager. I've tried changing the Thunderbolt service from manual to automatic and still nothing in Device Manager. I've reinstalled the firmware update after having the correct software version installed, but I still get nothing in Device Manager. Sometimes not even hidden devices will show it.  I've attached a picture to show what it's like after it turns on at the start of the firmware update.  The driver shows up as 16.3.71.9 during the firmware update before it actually updates but has turned on the deivce.   thoughts anyone?   The readme for firware says it can't downgrade.

I've reinstalled the firmware update after having the correct software version installed, but I still get nothing in Device Manager.  I've attached a picture to show what it's like after it turns on at the start of the firmware update, but before going through the update.  I've tried a USB-C to HDMI adapter and it's not working.

First time ditching my HP world for a Thinkpad.... I purchased a new old stock T470s still with Windows 7.  Was excited to try something new. I got everything updated using the Lenovo System Update Tool, except for Thunderbolt. I would get repeated "FwUpdateCmd" errors and after tracking those down I found out it was in reference to the thunderbolt update. I tried changes in the bios but kept getting the FwUpdateCmd errors. The Thunderbolt worked just fine on the original drivers and firmware as delivered, AND it showed up in Device Manager. So I decided to check online for the latest thunderbolt drivers and I found there was both a firmware and software update. I checked the date and saw the firmware was dated Jan 19 while the software was Mar 19. So I updated the firmware first. It updates the firmware just fine. However the software won't update because now my thunderbolt is no longer active, meaning it doesn't show up in Device Manager!  It was *always* there before the firmware update. When trying to update the software it says no thunderbolt found. I checked into the readme of the firmware and found this:"- You need to update Thunderbolt Software to version 16.3.71.17(Package Version 16.3.71.300) before firmware update." If that version came out in March and the firmware came out in January.....  I'm pretty sure my laptop had software version 16.2.55.275 installed when I did the firmware update.  So what have I screwed up now? And how do I fix it... Read more

I have a Toshiba P875-S7200 laptop. I put an Intel 240GB SSD in it, put an untouched Windows 7 x64 on it (using X17-58997.ISO), and activated it with my own COA key.
I got all the missing drivers installed except for one. Using the VEN and DEV #'s from the Hardware ID and going to sites like pcidatabase.com, etc, I learned what the (vaguely labeled) mystery hardware was, then got the official drivers from toshiba.com.
Problem is, this last one labeled Unknown device, has an unusual Hardware ID that looks like this:
ACPI\TOS620A
*TOS620A.
I'm reluctant to install any driver software to have it find out but I was wondering about the drivers from DriverPacks.net. The page I'd be getting them from is here. Not knowing which driver I need, I wanted to get all of them, put on a DVD, then point the Device Manager to the disc to hopefully install it.
Is it safe to use the drivers from this site? If I get them and scan them with MBAM, SAS, and Avast, as long as they're clean, are they okay to use? I'm very leary of these things and could use some expert insight here.
If I shouldn't use these drivers, then what should I do about this mystery driver?
Thank you.

A:ACPI\TOS620A (Unknown device) missing driver help needed.

Hi Lee,

The DriverPacks.net packages are safe to use but I'm not sure they include what you need...

ACPI\TOS620A is related to software, go to the Toshiba website and type your serial number then on the list of drivers and software look for the HDD Protection Utility install and restart the computer.

Hi!
I'm not used to using Windows. Just for certain proprietary programs really.
Today I reinstalled XP SP3 on one of my machines.

I installed all my drivers except one. The device manager shows one unknown device that I can't figure out..

The hardware ID just says ACPI\AWY0001
No device ID or vendor ID..

A Google search brings up too much variable information to ascertain the issue. Anyone know what my mystery driver could be?

Screenshot attached may shed some light.

Thank you kindly.

Hello, While trying to update to the latest Insider Build of Windows 10 which is Build 15002, I was being prevented by a BSOD error on Update Installation(a.k.a The Green Screen of Death) So after some research, I found that I should make sure all my Drivers are updated. Upon going into Device Manager, I encountered that there was an Unknown Device, which meant there WAS a driver missing.  So I got the hardware ID here and am wondering if anyone knows how I could get the ZIP to this driver to update it: Hardware ID: ACPI\VEN_ASD&DEV_0001ACPI\ASD0001*ASD0001 Notebook Model: HP 17-p110nrOS: Windows 10(64-bit) Home Insider Preview Build 14986.rs_prerelease.161202-1928

Hi: See if the driver I zipped up and attached below works for you... Unzip the file to its folder.  Do not do anything with the files in the folder. Go to the device manager and click on the ASD device needing drivers. Click on the driver tab.  Click on Update Driver.  Select the Browse my computer for driver software option and browse to the driver folder you unzipped.  Make sure the Include Subfolders box is checked and see if the driver installs that way. Then reboot.

Hi,

On a fresh clean Windows 8 image, my software driver (signed) installs fine and shows up properly in the Device Manager. However once i uninstall it , subsequent reinstalls show up as 'Unknown Device' in the Device Manager.

From the device details, I find that it refers to /looks for the .inf file in c:\windows\inf folder but the file itself is missing from the location. The FileRepository has all the required files. But trying to update from there also fails.

Could anyone help me with troubleshooting this problem. What could be going wrong.

Thx,
Gita
