Preferred Solution: Internet Explorer Zoom problem

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Did you ever find the fix for this? I am having the same problem.

Hey y'all!

I'm in need of some help with my IE.
I got a list of updates in the middle of a website that auto refreshes. I need to zoom in and lock it to fill the screen. Anyone know of a way to do this?

I'm sorry that I won't be able to link this website, since it is for the airforce.

A:Internet Explorer zoom problem!

To use IE8 zoom, add it to the command bar using 'customize'.

Each click (2) zooms then the third resets back to normal.

Still too small? Start with Text Size larger (customize again).

edit: you can also use Magnifier.

Now this is really doing my head in. The regular zoom setting for Internet explorer is 100%, but I find the screen?s way too small at those settings for me to read the text properly. The best setting for me is 200%, but the thing keeps on resetting itself back to 100% forcing me to keep on going back to put it back to 200% again. Is there any way to lock the zoom settings to what I want rather than having to keep on resetting it?

When I use internet explorer, 125% zoom is the best choise for me

When I open IE8, the zoom is 100%. I then change it to 125%. Next page I open is often 100% and sometimes 125%. This is randomly.

Ive also tried to change it in regedit, but it doesnt help.

Ive read other threads about this issue, but these threads were started a while ago. Maybe there is some new solutions.

I just installed service pack 2, and I guess the issue appeared after the installation

Someone knows how to get the zoom to stay at 125% permanently?

Hello,

I recently moved to a new apartment and transferred Spectrum internet service to my new place.

I own my own modem and router. Modem is a Zoom 5345. It is a little over 2 years old.

Upon setting up modem and router, I had connection with no issues right away for the first 24 hours. But this AM, the wifi network is active but there is no internet.

The modem is on. The Power light is solid green, and the US DS light flash blue while the internet light is off. I have tried resetting the modem multiple times but it always goes back to the same light pattern.

I called Spectrum to confirm my service, and the guy confirmed that my apartment is online and he could even see my router, although he said it kept showing up as a video connection.

My apartment has 1 coaxial cable, which seems to be hardwired into the socket cover.

Any ideas on what could be the issue? Do I just need a new modem? Should I buy Spectrums router?

Your thoughts are appreciated.

Sorry if I posted this in the wrong section, I'm new to this forum.

I got my desktop upgraded to Windows 7 and everything seems to be fine except the fact that everything is zoomed in. I really don't know much about computers but a couple of people told me it had to deal with the screen resolution. When I went to adjust the screen resolution I went to
ControlPanel>Display>ScreenResolution
But the resolution option was not highlighted so I wasn't able to adjust it. Does anybody know if I'm doing something wrong or if it's another problem its self?

This is how the forum looks.

I'm not sure how it happened, but it looks like something has changed my user profile in Windows 7 to show really big dumb looking UI elements (e.g. scroll bars) and to zoom in too close to text.

Every time I load a page in Internet Explorer, it is zoomed in too close. I zoom out again but it still zooms in on the next page load.

I'm using a HP Touchstmart Tmt2 tablet with touch screen and though the scroll bars are handy for touch interaction, I rarely use the touch and am really put off by how big they are.

I've included 2 screenshots to show the problem, hopefully someone can point out some setting that got changed accidentally?

A:UI elements gone big and zoom problem

what version of Internet explorer are ya using? are you using "ctr +" to zoom???

try this anyway, look for "page" in your tool bar at the top, it should be beside "tools" and "safety".

then click the drop down arrow and pick zoom from the list! then set it to 100%.

you might find that it is set higher. might be whats causing the problem!

First, I Run Windows XP SP3 and thanks in advance for helping me out!

Yesterday, I installed Batman Arkham Asylum, it sayd my Video Card drivers were outdated. So after seing the game intro, I closed the game and decided to install the new drivers.

I then updated my Nvidia 9800 GTX drivers. When I rebooted the computer, everything seemed to work properly. I then re openned Batman Arkham asylum and played for a few hours before going to bed.

This morning when I open my computer, the screen display is ''ZOOMED'' in. I cant see my whole desktop, but when I move the mouse around, the screen move accordingly.

I went into the Nvidia Configuration tool, tried most option, but did not succeed to remove the zoom. I tried switching resolution, but it only show my whole desktop to small resolutions. It also show my whole desktop if I switch to 780p HD settings. ( But I find it ugly because its to stretched)

But to my great sadness, when I open a video game (except old games like Starcraft), even in smaller resolution or HD, it still ZOOM in and I cannot see the whole screen, which make it unplayable.

I need help! Is it the Video drivers? Nvidia Settings? Batman Arkham Asylum? Why would it Zoom in?

(PS: I tryed to Print Screen to show you an example of what I see, but the image printed shows the whole desktop not zoomed in... )

A:Display Setting ''Zoom'' problem

Okay I tried different solutions and none worked, im getting really clueless.

1. I Reset my Screen options, to be sure it wasnt the screen. There is also no Zoom function on my screen.

2. I Tried uninstalling the drivers and installing them back, did not work

3. I uninstalled the Nview desktop manager l and rebooted, did nothing.

4. I tried a System Restore to before I installed the new drivers, and my computer wouldnt display anything. Black Screen, but I would hear windows open and Msn pop.

5. I Repaired Windows with my Windows CD, and I had to reinstall the Video Drivers, so I tried installing the Drivers from my original Nvidia Cd that came with my computer. Black Screen again, nothing displayed.

6. I repaired windows AGAIN and installed the new drivers from Nvidia, screen ZOOMED. When I lower resolution, its not zoom, but only on really low resolution, which make it really ugly and bad looking. It also doesnt completly solve the problem, cause when I open new games that have high graphics, it still zoom and I only see 1/3rd of the screen at a time.

7. I was getting reaaaaally desesperate, so I reformated my whole computer. Installed my Drivers from Cd, BLACK SCREEN. Definitly, the drivers from the original CD fail to display anything. Theres a warning from windows that says they are not aproved compatible by windows XP at that time, which I find weird considering its a Nvidia card.

Hi,
I'm having a problem with Internet Explorer where it cant connect to any webpage at all.
I have tried to troubleshoot the problem but the troubleshooter says that it cannot find the problem. It works when i start it up in no addons mode but even if i disable all the addons that i could find in manage addons it still doesn't work unless i use no addon mode.

No other computer has this problem other than me so it's not a problem with the router, but i can also use other browsers just fine with no problems.

I tried multiple attempts at solution trying to fix this such as:
ipconfig release,renew and flushdns
the two netsh command that, i think, flush the ipv4 and some other connection
disabling all addons in Internet explorer
reseting all internet explorer settings
checking if Proxy settings are accidentally enabled
Using antivirus + antimalware + antispyware to check for viruses(though i do think it is a virus)
Uninstalling and reinstalling Internet Explorer
System restore is out of the question because it doesnt have a restore point before this occured

If it helps, i had a "strain" of a computer virus named [email protected] + "Mutations" of that virus in the same folder and it seemed to have happened a couple days after i had gotten rid of it using help from my anti-virus's support team, i'm in the 7th step of fully removing it. Had the AV Security Suite virus and tried to remove it using Malwarebytes, AVG (Free Version) and Ad-Aware. Things seemed good because I was able to connect to the internet again and didn't have the annoying pop-ups associated with this virus but obviously all wasn't that good after all.

Whether I use Internet Explorer (8.0) or Safari to browse.. if I tried to click on recommended links in the search results it would redirect me in both browsers. Very annoying. Also.. if I clicked on a link thru an email in my Outlook Express - it would not open.

Then Internet Explorer wouldn't open anymore either!!! So I'm done trying to fix this. I need the pros at Bleeping Computer now more than ever...

Obviously I've heard about Combofix but have not run because of recommendations not to do so without supervision.

Thanks in advance!

A:Internet redirect problem in Internet Explorer & Safari !

I had a guy come to me with that virus the other day. I wasnt able to even boot up or load/update MBam as it wasnt allowing it to connect to the servers (so it was worthless for now). I eventually had to boot into an UBCD, ran Superantispyware which found about 65 entries. I then rebooted and tried safemode which worked. I was able to scan with Mbam (and update it) which found the files associated with AV security suite and the problem was all gone.

So I guess I would suggest running SAS and see if that finds anything, if anyone else has better advice feel free to correct me, thats just what I used to get rid of it.

Hope you get rid of it, its an annoying one (not as annoying as Virus:Win32/Alureon.H which another guy got..that was nasty)

Is there a way to reduce the sensitivity of the touchpad and/or disable the zoom feature of the touchpad without disabling the touchpad entirely? Over the years, with my other laptop, I grew used to using my right hand to move the pointer while using my left hand to click my selection, so I often have both hands resting on the touchpad. It's second nature, and a hard habit to break. This is a problem on my Lenovo Edge 15 touchpad, because having my left hand anywhere near the touchpad while moving the pointer around with my right hand, I keep inadvertently activating the zoom in/out feature. I do rely on the touchpad quite a bit, so I don't want to turn it off, but the constant zooming issue is really affecting my productivity. Every minute or two, I'm having to stop and Ctrl+0 to get the screen back to normal magnification. I don't see a simple way to fix this in my mouse/touchpad settings. Thanks.

I hope you've figured this out by now and aren't still having this problem. I figured I'd post anyway in case other people are searching for an answer and having trouble finding it. The zoom was driving me insane also and I finally found an answer on another forum. I have a Lenovo G50, but it's likely the problems would be resolved similarly.  Go to Control Panel > Devices and Printers > Mouse (or just search for "Mouse" in your Cortana search bar). Open Mouse Properties and navigate to the far right tab where your touchpad driver is listed, I'm assuming many of us Lenovo users have the same driver but mine is "Elan". Under where the device is listed there are buttons: Enable Device, Stop Device, Options. Or yours may say "Advanced Settings" instead of Options. Open Opions/Settings.  Find the Multi-Finger tab and location the Zooming option. Check the Disable button (or slow zoom rate if you prefer). Click Apply ...and it's fixed! I'm so much happier now that my screen isn't constantly zooming in and out. My left hand constantly bumps the touchpad and the zooming was NOT working for me.

For a while now my computer has been doing this really weird thing o me. It happens most the time on the internet (browser doesnt matter) and my computer will either zoom in all the way, zoom out or constanyl zoom in and out. Most the time I can "fight" my way out of it by hitting zoom in and out on my keyboard, but not always. Does anyone know what this problem is and can help me fix it?

Thanks!

A:Zoom in/Zoom out freeze out

Are you using the ctrl button on the keyboard when this happens? If not, do you have a different keyboard you can use to see if the problems persists?

Greetings,

Please bear with me. Not only am I a novice Tech Support Guy Forum participant, I'm not as knowledgable as I'd like to be about computers.

I use two computers. One is my employer's; the other is my personal machine. Both utilize Windows XP Pro Service Pack 3. Both machines are set for Internet Explorer 8. Both also use Adobe Reader 9.2 All of the necessary updates are in order.
One website I visit frequently belongs to an organization that archives its newsletters and allows subscribers to retrieve full pages of past issues. All the subscriber needs to do is to type in the date of publication, and thumbnails of each page of that edition appear. (The organization essentially photographs the pages of each edition of the newsletter and makes the pages available as pdf's.)

The problem occurs when I use my personal computer. It doesn't happen all of the time, but it happens often enough to be annoying. When I find a page I want to retrieve and click on that thumbnail, the page comes up -- but with more than half of the text and photos missing. I also get an error message -- "Insufficient Data for an Image."

I went to the forums on the Adobe website, and learned that this error message typically indicates that the pdf file is corrupt. People with this problem are instructed to contact the file's creator.

That advice would normally make sense, except that when I use my employer's computer to retrieve the very same pages,... Read more

See if this helps "Foxit Reader"

Ironic... I was just at one of my friend's house for a party last night and they had an extremely similar if not exact problem. Since the problem is rather hard to pinpoint (at least for me), I advise you use HiJackThis (HJT). Please follow the preparation guide here: Preparation Guide For Use Before Posting A Hijackthis Log. This guide will lead you through a basic cleaning process and then show you how to post a HJT Log for analysis. Once you are ready to post your log, post it here: HijackThis Logs and Analysis Forum NOT here.A few notes/words of advice:1. Please DO NOT alter your computer (install things, delete things, etc.) after your HJT log has been posted.2. Please DO NOT bump your HJT log, make double posts, or post your log in the wrong forum. Doing so will only dely the process of your log getting analyzed.3. Since the HJT Team is rather busy and wide spread at the moment, it might take a few days for a HJT Team member to arrive, so please be patient and enjoy life while you wait.Good Luck on your cleaning! Note - For future problems like this, I believe you should post them in the Am I Infected? What Do I do? Forum not here.

Do you know if you have "Keep similar items together" on the taskbar? If so, my guess is your are getting spammed with lots of pop ups in IE and this is creating the 65 open windows. Can you post a screenshot?

Having a problem with Internet Explorer - whenever I try and open a webpage (even my homepage) my PC acts as if I'm downloading it - IE closes and I get asked if I want to save it or open it. No matter what I chose I then get an error message and told that Internet Explorer needs to close etc.
I can't access Help and Support - seems to have vanished too.
I use Spybot and Adaware to remove us much stuff as I can.
Any help / tips would be appreciated.

I recently installed the new Internet Explorer 7.

I've noticed a problem with playing live streams from the net, they no longer play.

Any ideas why this has happened? Is there a setting I need to adjust?

And if not, how can I downgrade back to Internet Explorer 6, which didn't suffer from this problem.

A:Internet Explorer 7 Problem

Hi Jonathan1987Please note that Ie7 is only a beta version - therefore there is no quaruntee that all the features will actual work.To remove IE7 and revert to IE61. Go to Control Panel 2. Click Add or Remove Programs 3. Click Show Updates checkbox 4. Click whatever version of IE7 you have. For example "Internet Explorer 7 Beta 2 Preview" 5. Click the Change/Remove buttonReboot and you should revert back to IE6.David

basically whenever I go onto internet explorer , my home page appears as normal , but however when I search in Google in the address bar above the page says you have been disconnected from the Internet try again. Whenever I try to go onto any other pages like avg for example it works , just not for Google .
OS - windows XP professional

Any ideas on how I can fix this.

Thank you for any input .

A:Internet explorer problem

Hi,
Is that your security suite = avg ?
Sounds like avg might be blocking access :/
Try using safe mode with networking avg will be disabled

Safe mode with networking,
Shut down your machine, Unplug-Hold the power button downfor 30/45 seconds (Power Drain)
Power up and Tap the F8 key continuously until you see ablack page with white text,
Use the down arrow key to toggle to safe mode withnetworking/ hit the enter key.
Login as usual
Other advanced methods,
Safe Mode
Advanced startup options (including safe mode) - Windows Help

If it works try again using clean boot,
http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/179159-troubleshoot-application-conflicts-performing-clean-startup.html
Click Start and type in the search box,
msconfig
Click on the suggestion on top or hit the Enter key,
Go to the Startup section and take some screen shots for a complete list,
Go to the Services section and on the bottom left Check the box to Hide All Microsoft services,
Repeat the screen shots,
See the links above my signature on how to take and upload screen shots here,
Cheers.

I believe some pop up blockers including windows xp popup blocker will stop links from opening... Try right clicking a link and selecting "open in a new window" see if that opens it.

Hello!

I am using Windows XP Home SP2 & I use Internet Explorer as my browser. I am the main user & have no problems, but there are 2 other users who can log on & they are having problems with Internet Explorer.

The problem is that although they can access Google & other search engines, they can not log on to gmail or Hotmail, for example, as well as several other sites where they have to enter their username & password. This is a recent problem.

I have set the Security Levels to default in Tools > Internet Options, but this has not fixed the problem.

Any help on this problem would be appreciated.

Best wishes.

Tim.

A:Internet Explorer Problem.

Open IE and click Help, About Internet Explorer and look at the Cipher Strength. It should be 128 bit. If the Cipher Strength is anything less then 128-bit, download and install the Internet Explorer High Encryption Pack. In the same window can you report back with the full IE version number, and the update version list

Open IE, go to Tools, Internet Options, Advanced and scroll to bottom of list. The SSL and TLS options (all versions) should be checked.

Uncheck the box for Enable Third Party Browser Extensions in the Advanced Section (all other settings in Advanced Section are set to Default). Click Apply and close and open IE.

Configure Security settings for the Trusted sites zone in IE: IE, Tools, Internet Options, Security tab, select Trusted sites, Default Level. Sites, enter the address (URL) of the site in the Add this Web site to the zone: box, Add, OK, Apply.

Clear the Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) slate and AutoComplete history: IE, Tools, Internet Options, Content tab. Under Certificates, click Clear SSL State. Click OK when you receive the message that the SSL cache was successfully cleared. Under Personal information, click AutoComplete. Under Clear AutoComplete history, click Clear Forms. Click OK when you are prompted to confirm the operation.

Verify that the Date and Time Settings on Your Computer Are Correct: Because SSL certificates have an expiry date, if the date on your computer isn't correct, it may prevent you from connecting to secure sites.
