Dell site not listing any drivers for OptiPlex 790 (73TQ7V1) and 960 (461BZK1)

Q: Dell site not listing any drivers for OptiPlex 790 (73TQ7V1) and 960 (461BZK1)

I have an unrecognized PCI serial, I know which chipset drivers I need to fix it, but when I go to the drivers page there is nothing there.
I've tried using the service tag, navigating to the model, using auto-detect and every other possible route to navigate the site and switching OS's and tried no multiple computers. But no matter how I go there it says "Your device does not have or require any updates."

Preferred Solution: Dell site not listing any drivers for OptiPlex 790 (73TQ7V1) and 960 (461BZK1)

I recommend downloading and running DAP. It can help sort out any driver and firmware related issues on your system

It's worked out well for many of us in the past.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloaddap.org. (This link will open the download page of DAP so you can save a copy to your computer.)

EDIT: Please edit your post and remove the Service Tags from the title. Treat Service Tags as personal info and never post them in an open forum like this.
The Support site was having more than its share of problems yesterday, 11-3-16.
Just now checked for the 790, and it seems to be working again. Be sure to select the correct version of Windows before downloading any drivers...

Had to reinstall Win 7 due to bad virus. Frank sent me a list of drivers which I burned to disc, however, I cannot decifer some of them as they are a lot of letters and numbers. All I need is the following if someone can help:

PCI serial port
PCI simple communications controller
SM bus controller.

Went to Dell website but couldn't find or couldn't figure out what I needed on there. It showed a bunch of drivers that I really didn't need.

Thanks in advance!

A:Need 3 drivers for Dell Optiplex

click start > run > sysdm.cpl > hardware tab > device manager > check for yellow triangles. Those are the drivers you need. When you find a yellow triangle, check out the hardware ID's on the driver details tab; it should look like PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_24DF&SUBSYS_01681028&REV_02.
The VEN_ is the vendor ID, the DEV_ is the device id; enter both of them at http://pcidatabase.com/. That will give you the details you need to track down the driver. Don't hesitate to post back here; it's a lot to swallow at once.

The college I go's Computer Lab has a eBay account in which they sell used PC's that are surplus or no longer used. I bought a Dell Optiplex 780 from them. Since I was in class today and the auction ended today just 30 minutes before class, I snagged the only bid of $40. Now all the computers in the computer lab are this model and run Windows 7. I was told that Windows 7 is native to this desktop. It came with Windows 7 Pro, but if you know me, I am all about personalization so I wiped the PC clean by deleting the partitions using GParted and installed w7 myself. It says it has all the drivers except 2. technically it needs 3. The system claims that the Video drivers are already installed, but I cannot achieved a higher resolution than 1280x1024 on a 1080p (1920x1080) monitor. The computers at the college running the same OS, same model desktop are displaying in 1080p. Mine is not however.

I just bought a secondhand Dell Optiplex GX100 which came with Win2000 but I had to wipe the hard drive and install Win98 to be compatible with my home office network.
I need to reinstall an appropriate display adapter but the Dell support site gives quite a long list of possible drivers and I don't know which one to select.
I entered the service tag code from the sticker on the side of the computer into the support website but got a "not valid" message back so I guess that means service support for this unit has expired.
I opened the case to look for a display adapter card but couldn't find one, couldn't see much else but a big sound card.
Should this model have a standard display adapter and if so what is it? Any Dell-philes have an answer on that?

A:How to Reinstall drivers for Dell Optiplex

As far as I know, the service tags do not expire online, even if the unit is out of warranty.

Try this link:

And re-enter your tag there, or choose your machine model/type from the other drop-down list.

A few weeks ago I acquired a DELL Optiplex 5050 running Windows 10 Pro and I’m still finding my way around the machine and the operating system...  Looking at the Event Viewer initially caused me some concern but various sites on the ‘net confirm that others are experiencing similar errors.
One of these issues relates to DELL and hopefully someone on here may be able to help.
When I run various diagnostic checks via the DELL UK Support webpages I then find that Dell System Detect brings up an error 0 in my Event Viewer.  Last night I uninstalled Dell System Detect and re-installed it but the errors still occur.  What is causing this?
Also every time I connect to the DELL UK Support site to check for driver updates I’m offered the Intel Management Engine Components Installer version 11.60.1047, A01.  I have downloaded and installed this on more than one occasion but it still comes up every time I check for driver updates.  I see this was a documented issue some time ago, was it ever sorted or does it still exist and if so I can presumably ignore it?
Thank you,

I just installed windows xp onto my dell optiplex gx260 and i have no internet. I go to device manager and under other devices there are 3 yellow circles saying cif single chip, ethernet controller and multimedia audio controller. I've been to dell support and every link they sent me to download the driver i put on a usb drive and put it on the other computer to install but it wont fix the problem, the circles under other devices in device manager are still there... any suggestions? There is currently nothing in add/remove programs by the way.

A:Dell Optiplex Drivers wont install

What did you use to reinstall XP? If you know someone who has a Dell computer, perhaps they have the cd with the necessary drivers on it for you to use. Or contact Dell and see if you can get the cd's for your particular model of computer. their cd's include all the necessary drivers, at least that has been my experience.

I have a new Dell Optiplex GX760 and the first thing I did was install Windows XP Pro from the Dell Restore disk because Dell's image is too slow. I installed all the obvious drivers that were missing, but I'm still missing "PCI Serial Port" and "PCI Simple Communications Controller" - where can I find out what these things are so I can download them?

Thank you in advance!

A:Can't Find Drivers for Dell Optiplex GX760

Generally you can go to www.dell.com, click on support and then enter the service tag number. It will list all appropriate drivers for that machine.
Usually with Dell's the PCI Simple Communications Controller truns out to be the modem...I usually don't bother with it unless I know for a fact the owner of the computer still uses dial up.

Well thanks for allowing me to join this forum.
My Dad has a vintage Dell Optiplex, just reinstalled Win XP and now the *^%^$ NIC cannot see the web.

I rechecked and verified that the connecting cable is OK.

I tried downloading a NIC driver from MS, but the installer cannot see it. The hardware manager (control panel) does not show NIC mfg. details so I have to guess. The NIC is built into the board so I can't disconnect it.

Color me stumped...any assistance would be gratefully accepted.

Hello Everybody,
I thought I'd create an account so that I could share / brag about making the internal speaker on the OptiPlex 760 (and presumably others) work with Windows 10 and likely Windows 8, as well.
When I upgraded from Windows 7, one of the first things I noticed (once I realized it had booted up and I was staring at the desktop and not a splash screen) was that the sound wasn't working.  There was an installed driver (courtesy of Microsoft), a generic HD Audio that probably came from Analog Devices, themselves.  It noticed that there weren't headphones (front) or speakers (back) plugged in, but not the internal speaker.
After some (unsuccessful) fiddling around, and searching, I found this post from 2009 (right around the release of Windows 7).

That worked well for Windows 7 using the Vista drivers, so I went in search of the Windows 7 drivers (which had since been released) in the hopes that it'd work for Windows 8 or 10 (update R228257):

Booyah!  I didn't even need to run the installer in compatibility mode!

A:DELL OptiPlex 760 Internal Speakers and Windows 10 (ADI 198x integrated audio drivers)

I, too, have an Optiplex 760 made in 2008 that I have updated to Windows 10 Pro.  Since I usually use an external speaker, I didn't notice this issue at first - until I tried the front headphone jack; there was no sound, and plugging in the headphones didn't silence the external speakers.  Eventually, I found the Sound tool in Control panel that lets you choose either the external speaker jack on the back or the front panel headphone jack and the internal speaker.  My current audio driver is the Win10 version, 10.0.10586.0.
What I'd like to clarify is whether you are having to choose which connector to use, as I am, or whether that driver will let you have a speaker plugged into the rear panel jack and still use the front panel headphone jack without having to choose in Control Panel - as it worked in Windows 7.

When I went there and put in my service tag, it listed 36 things for me to download. 9 of the 36 were zip files.

I first installed the app files, 1 or 2 of which were useless since they had to do with a 1515 adapter and my system came with 1300, so I'm not sure why this is listed for my specific computer.

Then I went and dealt with the zip files, though it appears all of them are not compatible with my vista 64bit (wtf?) so again I'm not sure why these files are listed for the service tag I put in (I guess each individual or type of operating system has one).

Secondly I wonder what is a "firmware reflash" since it was in one of those zip files and I let it run and do it's thing (this is more important for me at the moment) did a search and didn't find answers.

(Please pardon my redundancy - I have posted this to the Customer Care Board and Client Service forums - just hoping to correct what I hope was an accidental change in support policy.)
This is not a technical comment but it is a comment about Dell's Technology Support. Recently the support site for laptops, and I presume other areas though I have not checked, was revised to change its structure. In the process many items were removed notably having to do with drivers for older systems. Even if a system is past warranty that does not remove the responsibility for Dell to continue to provide the most recent (even if old) drivers especially since the cost of doing so is trivial. This is especially the case when Dell is the only source for specific drivers. A specific example is a Dell Vostro 3700 laptop which uses the embedded GPU in the CPU as well as outboard nVidia GPU; the hybrid video architecture is such that NVidia provides no driver and re-directs users to Dell's site. In the case of this specific model, most of the drivers that were present a month ago are now gone.
Dell laptops have two things going for them - good products at a good price and a great support site. This has prompted me to continue focusing upon Dell - e.g. two new 5759's in 2017, and to recommend Dell to colleagues and friends. I have had recent occasion to review some very old systems on HP's support site - all relevant drivers continue to be available. I strongly recommend that Dell c... Read more

Checking that same site tonight, the listing showing a page button at the bottom as "11", shows the issue dates to be from September, much more recent than when the site was bookmarked earlier this year.  I am HOPING that clicking through to 9 or 8, or clicking up through 12 or 13 or 14, that the page would display downloadable updates for October 2016.  If each listing entry really links to a separate downloadable installable file, that we could look for all the Vista updates and install each of them separately.
I do not remember how I found the site, but must have been through some searching with first search engine and then through the Microsoft Site.  More recently while trying to follow links on the MS site, I have been unable to find anything like the page showing all these September updates.  I'm also surprised that no member on this board has mentioned or suggested the site earlier.

A:Solved: Listing Drivers

There are some excellent programs, like Service Controller, and Service Manager 2k-XP that list and control services and drivers.

If you use:

sc query >drivers.txt

it will create a text file in whatever folder you run the command with the list.

You might want to try:

sc query type= driver
sc query type= service

to get a list of all current, active drivers and services.

Have 2 problems - one which appears to be resolved. The big one now is that a malware has taken over my desktop about a week ago. Started with all these popups and a request to me to do a system restore, which I now know is theirs and not Microsofts. System Restore (theirs) said my hard drive was unreadable, and that for a mere $59.95 they could fix it. Of course, I did not buy it, but it has messed up my computer.

The symptoms: 1. Many desktop icons have disappeared (hidden) including Mozilla and Microsoft Word. I know programs are still in there because they do show up on Add/Delete programs listing. 2. When you click Start up and go to All Programs, there is a list of only about 10 programs; obviously I have many more than that. 3. There is a System Restore icon on desktop (as well as on bottom bar) which is obviously theirs; it was not there before.

My other problem was a redirecting of Google searches which developed back in September after the computer had been shut off for three months while I was on vacation. This also had happened back in April and I worked with tetonbob of Tech Support and he got it resolved. This time while waiting for a response from tetonbob, I did a Malwarebytes scan and it detected a number "Hijack" malwares; Upon deletion through Malwarebytes, the redirecting went away, so this one is hopefully resolved.

The culprit seems to be the hardware acceleration enabled in the Intel HD driver. But, I have yet to find a way to disable it universally across the Windows 10 operating system.
For Office software =* Start any Office program* On the File tab, click Options* In the Options dialog box, click Advanced* In the list of available options, add a check to, "Disable hardware graphics acceleration"* Click OK
For all other software, you will need to check into their specific settings.

Also tried disconnecting all external cables (ie headphones, ethernet etc). Powered on and off multiple times and no change.
By the way, I don't know if this is related or not, but last night before the issue occurred, I was randomly logged out. Once it logged me back in, everything was closed and there was a small square of like TV static towards the bottom right corner. I restarted and it fixed the issue there but I don't know.

A:Dell Optiplex 745 - Windows XP Pro 32-bit Dell System direct issue.

The older versions of Dell System Detect are security risks - if you're running an antivirus program, it may be flagging and intercepting the program.  At any rate, you should NOT be using Windows XP online at this point, as it has seen no security updates in almost two years - you really need to upgrade to a supported version of Windows (at this point, that's a minimum of Windows 7).

I am wondering if the Optiplex 7010 will physically accept the 850W PSU from the Dell precision workstation. I can't seem to find any dimensions for the stock PSU in the Optiplex, and the Optiplex has that latch that snaps in front of the PSU.

I am aware that the CPU power on the Optiplex is 4-pin and the Precision PSU only has 8-pin, but maybe I can modify it or get an adapter.

I wasn't sure whether to post here or under lan/wan, but I wanted to try here first. Here's my problem with as much detail as possible.
What I need todo is be able to download from FTP thru our proxy so my clients still have site restrictions and the antivirus for emails and etc thru the proxy.
From our main location where I'm at we have a direct T1 line.
Our setup from a normal client machine hits the router 10.220.94.xxx and gets routed to our proxy server, which then routes to our T1 router and out to the internet.
What's happening is everything seems to be working fine, they can browse, they can get email, and they can even connect to FTP, "but" after they connect to FTP and I do a ls to get a directory listing i get the following.
200 PORT Command Successful
150 Opening ASCII mode data for file list

After that it just hangs. I can change directories and login to the FTP site, I connect etc, but I can't get a file listing.
Now if I connect direct to the T1's router everything works, which made me think it was a proxy setting, or perhaps even the other router.
Now here's the crazy part.
From another store 10.220.98.xxx I can use FTP just fine in every aspect, including the file list coming down, and downloads working fine. They push from 10.220.98.xxx to 10.220.94.xxx (which voids out our router here) and then get pushed to the proxy server (which voids that out too) (same proxy server for both stores) and then out to the T1 Ro... I think your instinctrs for networking may have been better as those few who expertise in that field may be who you need here. You can ask for a moderator to move your thread if they see fit as well.

This is a long standing question. Which drivers should I use? I have graphical issues with the current Drivers from Dell.
Any ideas what are the advantages of Dell's drivers over the ones from Intel/NVIDIA web site and do the even work? What will I lose if I use the latter?

A:Inspiron 7567 which drivers? Dell drivers or Intel/NVIDIA graphics drivers?

Dell drivers are Intel/Nvidia drivers that are customized for your exact model and should be used. They are available at Dell Support if you have to reinstall.

Hi folks!

There is a site out there that tests your system and tells you which drivers are bad and which are good (outdated and current). Can someong post the link to that site as I have forgotten to bookmark the site and would like to get back to it.

Dear Dell,
I bought my XPS 15 in December 2015. The battery is swelling and lifting the trackpad above the laptop case.
I am finding the trackpad increasingly difficult to use, and I am afraid that the battery will rupture and destroy the computer and/or injure me!
I went to your site to obtain a replacement battery. But the site says you no longer offer the battery for this computer model!
So, after 1.5 years, having spent over $1,600, you decide to drop support for a product?!
I only have Dells, 2 XPS desktops, the XPS 15, and I just bought an Inspiron 15 5000 on June 3, 2017.
How about some help?
This is the battery that is currently installed and my system info:

I have recently upgraded to windows 10 and everything seems file except one problem I am facing which is the wifi card connectivity issues. My connection to router drops very frequently, curently the generic driver which windows think is appropriate is installed. I wanted to undate that with Dell's driver which I can't find on driver download section. 64 bit WiFi driver is NOT there. 32 Bit driver is but that won't install on my machine.
Can someone from Dell help? either to give me the link for correct driver download or confirm driver is not available in which case I would need to downgrade to windwos 8 as the system is unusable in its current state.

A:Dell Inspiron 15R 7520 SE - Windows 10 64 Bit WiFi Driver not available on Dell Site

On the Drivers & Download pages for the Inspiron 15R 7520 there are only 64-bit options for Windows, whether 8.0,8.1, or 10.   So those drivers are the ones for the 64-bit version of Windows 10, as long as you filter the operating system option to Windows 10 64-bit.
The file name may state "Win32" but if you click on the "View Details" link, and then check "Supported Operating Systems" near the bottom of the page you'll find that the driver supports both 32-bit and 64-bit versions.
You don't mention which wireless card you have in that system so I can't link directly to the specific driver.  Which card do you have and what error are you getting when trying to install the drvier?
I would also recommend updating the firmware on your router.  Many routers need an update to be able to handle Windows 10 specific drivers and cards reliably.   What router brand and model are you connecting to?  And do you have problems with all routers or just this one.
Lastly, here is a link to the Dell Networking & Wireless Support Center.  You will find a few support articles in there that may be of help to you.
Let me know which card you have and when the last time you updated your router and, if you can't get the connection to work, I'll see what else I can suggest to help you.

Would any of you please tell me where to find the proper 64-bit drivers to use on a Dell Inspiron 531S?

The official Dell website does not share drivers for that edition of XP. My computer came with Ubuntu pre-installed. Please help me get the right drivers XP Pro (64-bit).

The only reason why I'm searching for 64-bit drivers for XP is because I have no interest in using Windows Vista or any 32-bit operating systems from Microsoft. Like I mentioned before, the Dell website is not offering the proper drivers I need for this computer and the Windows XP (64-bit).

I've read articles about getting 64-bit drivers to work on that computer, but I haven't found any website that offers the same drivers. I'm basically on my own, according to this Dell expert (see below). That person told me about the drivers without sharing 1 single link to download the 64-bit drivers (or chipset) for XP, which he/she mentioned:
Dell does not support 64 bit in that model and the reason there are no drivers. You are basically "on your own" to try and find suitable drivers.

However, if you installed the Chipset drivers, Windows should either install a generic driver or find suitable drivers.

The correct install sequence is (1) Install Windows (2) Install chipset driver (3) Install Device Drivers.

On Intel systems the chipset drivers define what is on or attached to the motherboard. I assume the AMD drivers do the same thing.Click to expand...

A:Dell site won't help me. How do you get XP Pro (64bit) to work on Dell 531S?

Hi there

The very best database for drivers is DriverGuide.com . You need to create a free account to gain access.

What the tech suggested was installing enough drivers to get your networking to work and then letting Windows find all the missing drivers automatically using the now working internet by selecting the option "search for drivers automatically" when installing the devices through the add/remove hardware applet in the Control Panel.
