HDMI outputs only in 1920x1080 @ 30Hz

Q: HDMI outputs only in 1920x1080 @ 30Hz

HDMI outputs only oin 1920x1080 @ 30Hz, but should be at 60Hz, which type of cable should I use exactly, and what should I do in general? Tried newest drivers, several cables, different monitors : still only 30 Hz

Preferred Solution: HDMI outputs only in 1920x1080 @ 30Hz

I recommend downloading and running DAP. It can help sort out any driver and firmware related issues on your system

It's worked out well for many of us in the past.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloaddap.org. (This link will open the download page of DAP so you can save a copy to your computer.)

I am considering buying an HDMI splitter to get around a problem I now have when streaming music only from the Internet. Currently I have about a 15 ft. cable running from the HDMI output on my computer to my Samsung TV. With this setup everything works fine. I can watch Youtube videos or Netflix movies. The thing that I don't like is that if I want to just stream music for several hours, I have to leave the TV on since the audio connection from the TV to my receiver is not a pass thru. It is only live when the TV is on. I am wondering if I can use an HDMI splitter to solve this problem. What I plan to do is to connect the computer HDMI output to the input on the splitter. Then use one of the splitter's outputs to go to the Samsung TV and the other one to go to my receiver via an HDMI-to-2 Channel Stereo Y-adapter. Just wondering if the connection to the non-HDMI device via the Y-adapter will upset the functioning of the splitter. What about the the EDID handshaking and HDCP signal that HDMI sources and displays need in order to function?

Hello, Ik have recently bought a 4K monitor. When I connect the monitor to my hp envy 17-N178CA via HDMI it will only do a 30Hz refresh rate max. If I understood right, HDMI 2.0 can support 4k at 60Hz.  Does anyone know what could be a solution? Thanks!

I am looking into upgrading one of our conference rooms at work with something that can provide output to at least 2 HDTV and 1 projector, with the future of a 3rd hdtv.

I been out the loop for awhile with video cards, and wanted to know if anybody knows of a way this can be done with a possible video card that has 4 hdmi outputs? They will be (2) 55 inch hdtvs and a projector which should output its own resolution

Thanks for the help ahead of time.

A:Any video cards with 4 HDMI outputs?

No video cards I know of have 4 HDMI outputs, but you can find plenty of cards that have that many if you combine DVI + Displayport. You could always use DP converters to HDMI got get the appropriate number of connections, but remember that after 2 non DP devices you'll need to start using Active Converters if you plan to keep the signal digital.

I bought a second hand gaming PC (i7 4770 RX480 win10) recently, the only way I can get any display to show on my monitor is through the HDMI port, it has three other display ports on the GPU, and HDMI/VGA/dvi on the motherboard.

I've checked using multiple monitors and two brand new cables and the only port that seems to send any signal is the HDMI in the graphics card.

Is this a drivers or config issue?

I simply need to run the laptop plus a TV with HDMI.  When I plug in, I get full nice resolution on the TV, but I lose my laptop screen.  Just displays the desktop background.

I went to resolution adjust and was set to "extend" so I went to "duplicate, but then resolutions are all whacky and cannot get both to run.
What settings do I need here?  can I get full resolution on laptop and TV?

Just got an HP 2159 21.5" LCD monitor with ATI Radeon HD 4650 VCard+512MB. When connecting via HDMI, it leaves 3/4 black borders on all sides when set at 1920x1080 resolution. Only when changing to 1650x1050or lower, or connecdting bia DVI, will the window fill up the entire screen.
Called HP twice, updated the driver twice, still no solution.

Is this a default charaqcteristic of HDMI connection or is it a flaw?

I bought a HDMI (M) to DVI-D (F) adapter for an external monitor. The monitor only supports DVI-D or VGA hence the necessity for an adapter. I attached the cables and had set the "project screen" setting to "extend". Lo and behold, blank screen.
I have tried the adapter with other two desktops I have lying around and I can verify it is working. The laptop detects the monitor. It also noticed the DVI-D connection. In terms of actually outputting anything to the external monitor? No bueno. I really desire a second monitor for productive workloads.

I've got an XPS 9550 and I have a HCK T7000+ screen that has a native resolution of 2560 * 1440.
The dell computer is not able to drive this screen at a resolution higher than full hd on the hdmi port.
I've tried with a macbook pro HDMI with the same screen and same cable, it drives it perfectly at 60Hz.
If I create custom resolution, it will always say that the bandwidth exceed the bus speed.
Is that normal for a computer of this price?

I have been building media centers (since XP MCE) for about a year now. Last month finally purchased my first big LCD TV. Last week, I bought an AV HDMI receiver (Pioneer VSX-520-K) and have spent the last week trying to finalize chaining all the components together into the best possible config. I am at 15m from the top of the mountain, but stuck there.
Bit of history...had an NVIDIA Geforce 7300 (DVI/VGA/Svideo) in the Mobo before, and this card was capable of using the full resolution of the TV, through VGA. Activating this PCIex card in the BIOS disabled my onboard ATI Radeon audio/video output. When I bought the AV HDMI receiver, I wanted to make use of the HDMI outbound sound, so took out the NVIDIA and activated the ATI HDMI onboard.
So config at that point is
Mobo send Audio/Video to Samsung TV over HDMI, sound is forwarded by the TV via fibre-optic cable into the Pioneer receiver.
Woohoo! Great sound - 5.1 in my speakers...but at first I noticed that the image quality was not as good as with the NVIDIA VGA, and them I noticed the underscan, 1inch black border lost across all sides.

In a lower res the underscan is gone, but the icons and edges are less clear. I know the TV can do better in its recommended res.

I did a clean W7 install to start with a clean system.
I think I have installed the correct ATI radeon drivers and CCC versions. Found lots of forums on the internet about this. An overview of what I already tried without luck...

A:ATI Radeon HD 3200 (HDMI) + Samsung 3d LCDTV (1920x1080) underscan

Hi all,

Just to let you know my problem is solved.
The way to do it was to use a freeware tool called "Driver Sweeper". ATI apparently is poor on the garbage-collect capabilities when removing drivers during CCC un-install.
I ran Driver Sweeper and removed all drivers and CCC stuff. After reboot, graphics seemed horrible, but after re-installing the latest 10_11 ATI suite all was fine.

Now got a crystalclear screen at 1920*1080 @ 60Hz

My problem is even worse, when i use the win7 "screen resolution" in the right click desktop menu, i CANNOT change the refresh to anything other than 30hz! If i do, it just changes back or doesn't change at all, no matter if i change even the resolution. Installing the Nvidia driver from the update helped, and using DXdiag my display IS at 60hz now.. yet only using 1280x720 because the monitor cannot use 30hz in this mode using NVcp. When in 1920x1080, it automatically reverts to 30hz..

I'm using a 7500LE (OEM) with a 1080p HDTV. Not sure where i would get the actual edid timings from.

IMO its just baby OS bugs, and nothing to be overly concerned about. As long as we can use it for now, and send reports etc then all will be fine in a month or two

It's an LCD ? If yes, you don't have to set any type of refresh. You have to change it only on CRT monitors.

The external monitor (Dell U2718Q) lately stuck at 30HZ refresh rate, instead of the usual/normal 60Hz.This happens when connected through the Dock Gen 3 (Type 40AN); when tried connecting directly on laptop, it is back at 60Hz (HDMI connection in both cases).  Cannot see what is the problem for this "change of heart" out of the blue, and unfortunately did not realize exactly when this happened.GPU drivers are and All of the firmware/drivers are also at latest versions as of time of writing. The most recent related (?) change was the Intel Thunderbolt Software, the firmware+driver of the dock are quite old by now, and they were working just fine for long (since published till recently). Is there anybody else with this problem? Any suggestions for troubleshooting?

Recently i bought a new monitor (samsung p2250) which neither vista/win7 allowed me to set the resolution to 1080p.

The resolutions already exist when i open Nvidia control panel, but windows doesn't allow me to use it. My refresh rate is stuck on 30Hz when i try set it to 1080p through the normal "screen resolution" option. I followed your method in vista and it works perfectly (thanks!) but when i try the same thing in windows 7, it says the resolution already exists and doesn't allow me to create the custom resolution.

Any idea whats going on? is it a software or hardware problem?

Hello Anon, and welcome to Seven Forums.

You might see if installing your monitors drivers may be able to help allow you to select the refresh rate afterwards. I found these at Samsung. Not sure what the difference is with LCD and Premium, but they are the same driver though. Click on the Driver option to see them under the Downloads tab.

Hi. I own a Mac Mini and use it with a Dell 24" 1080p monitor. I'm thinking of upgrading my monitor to a 4K 27" (probably an LG).

I have a few questions:

The Mini supports a resolution of 2560 by 1600 at 60Hz and a resolution of 3840 x 2160 at 30Hz.

Will 2560 by 1600 on a 4k monitor look better than my current Dell? I realize the resolution will be higher but I'm just wondering if there will be any blurriness or other issues.

Is 3840 x 2160 at 30Hz preferable to 2560 by 1600 at 60Hz?

What are the drawbacks of running the monitor at 30Hz? Will I notice any issues?

P.S. In the future, I will get a computer that can drive a 4K monitor at 60Hz, but that won't happen for a while.

To fix this problem I either reset my computer or reset the monitor and most of the time it will then go to 60hz. I have already tried a new displayport cable, fresh installed the video drivers and face the same problem. Can anyone help please?

Once I restarted everything was fixed. Hope it helps! Good luck to you!

Hi, I'm having issues with my external 4k display to only be able to operate at 30Hz. I have my laptop connected to a generation 2 Thunderbolt 3 dock via the provided cable, and from there I have tried both DisplayPort and HDMI cables (several) to connect to my display. All the technical information I have seen says that my laptop plus the dock should be able to operate at 60Hz even at this resolution, but I'm unable to lock down the settings that enable me to do that. I have pulled the latest BIOS, TB3 FW, display drivers, Intel chipset drivers from the product page.My screen is: AOC U3277FWQ if that matters. I'm running Windows 10 Pro 1809. Has anyone battled with the same issue? I'm running out of ideas on how to solve this. The HDMI port on the side is apparently only 1.4 so this would only support the [email protected], but I'm not using it at the moment. If I set the screen to 1920x1080, I can set the resolution to 60Hz. Best regards,_tero

I use an HDMI cable to connect my PC to my TV to watch TV shows. I would like to separate and choose what program audio comes from which device. I would like, say for example, Garry's Mod to come from my PC speakers while Windows Media Player comes though my TV speakers. When I go to start>search> sound (as seen in screenshot), I can only choose one to set as default device. Then chosen device plays both programs' audio.

I know it's possible by some means because Skype does this on it's own. When my default device is my TV, even if it's playing sound, talking to someone on Skype always comes through my PC.

Any help would be appreciated

A:How can I use 2 audio outputs at once?

Unless you have a special application, such as Skype, you can't have two. Windows will only allow one default audio playback device, e.g. "Speakers" or "HDMI" but not both and audio applications will use the default audio playback device. The Skype application (owned by Microsoft) apparently has the software needed to do that.

This question, or a similar question, comes up frequently. Always the same answer.

Ok. So I have a typical setup of a subwoofer and two satellite speakers. Its a common product..heres a link to the dell website...here

I goes into my computer with the green jack I think its called.
Now, I also have another subwoofer that I would like to add in addition to my other speakers. It is called the Microsoft Digital Sound System 80, it also is a three piece set but all I want to do is add the subwoofer via USB.
But, when I do plug the USB cord it cuts off the sound to my Logitech speakers which is plugged in through the green jack.

Is there any way I can get these to work together?

A:Two sound outputs? Please help.

Propably by messing with the wires, doing your connections and stuff, but that's more of an electrician's job than a regular DIY job.
Of course there's a chance that you'd get them working with a few adapters, but possibly one of your woofers would be replacing a center/rear speaker, and that's make it sound just awful, giving the midrange sounds out of the sub. I'd not bother trying anything.

Maybe I'm horribly wrong, but this is what I think about that...

I have a simple question. Would Windows 7 allow me to have 3 video outputs?

At the moment I have a 22" Dell monitor and a 42" Westinghouse monitor connected to my on-board video outputs and works great. The 22" I have connected through VGA (haven' got around to getting a DVI cable yet), and my 42" monitor I have connected through the HDMI output.

Gigabyte motherboard has (1)VGA, (1)DVI and (1)HDMI output.

I have been thinking of purchasing a video card lately, since I've noticed that when I play some HD movies on my 42", it tends to sometimes lag a bit on scenes with a lot of action. I have 4GB's of RAM and my CPU never goes above 17% while watching the movie, so I can only assume this has to do with the on-board video card struggling a bit to display the data fast enough.

I already have another matching 22" Dell monitor and would like to run a dual display with the 22's and still have the 42" available. So if I get a video card, would I be able to run my 42" monitor off of that and then the dual 22"s off the on-board video?

A:3 Video Outputs?

Simple question results in simple answer: no.

It can't be done because one of the outputs shares it's resources with another. So going by that, only 2 can work simultaneously.

The new 5xxx line can do all three I believe. I can't tell you per exact model, but possibly they all can.

The HD 3200 should not lag. It is designed precisely for HD video. Perhaps your system can be tweaked in other ways to get best overall performance. Ensure you're using the latest video driver with latest chipset mobo drivers.

The answer to this: "So if I get a video card, would I be able to run my 42" monitor off of that and then the dual 22"s off the on-board video?"

is simply, yes. Get another ATI HD card for easiest/best results. You could attach one 22" and 42" to new card and leave one 22" on the HD 3200. Or if 5xxx, put all three on card and disable onboard HD 3200. Or do exactly as you asked.

The system was reformatted recently and I'm experiencing audio issues using a set of speakers designed to recieve a digital output.
I downloaded the newest version of the audio card drivers and installed them, but that wasn't the problem. The computer processes audio with no errors. Using headphones I get perfect sound, but with this speaker system (again, designed for some form of digital input) it is using the same audio jack as the headphones but I get only a barely audible fuzz, which is only present when audio is played on the computer.

Just checking if there is anyway i can have 2 different audii outputs. I have just installed a X-FI extreme gamer (which didnt go to well) and i put my headset into it, but no oter jacks seem to work, i have my mic running on the onboard card.

So im querying if there is anyway i can keep my headset running on the X-FI but have my speakers running on the onboard card. My speakers are only 2.0 as i use my headset for surround sound, its just a bit of an inconvenience having to always have headset on to hear anything.

Thanks if anyone can help.

OK, This is an X-Fi Titanium Professional installed on Win7 x64 with the newest drivers available from the Creative site.

I can test the audio from within the Console Launcher or Diagnostics and all 5.1 speakers have good clear audio, when I play from Itunes/Windows Media Player/Internet I only get sound from the Front left and right speakers.

I have adjusted every setting in the Creative control panel and Console Launcher as well as whatever Windows settings I could find.

I am 99.9% sure cables are plugged in the right inputs.

Why can't I get 5.1 sound!?!

A:X-Fi Titanium outputs 2.1 despite being set on 5.1

Because most (more like all, with the exception of DVD-Audio) music/mp3's/etc are all stereo sources. Only way to get 5.1/surround sound is to use something like CMSS3D (check the manual that came with your card) or DDL (Dolby Digital Live).

Hi guys!!
Hope you can help me with this one!
I installed a fresh copy of Windows 7 Ultimate x64 yesterday, everything went well untill i installed the audio drivers for my motu.
First thing i noticed was that when i turned on the sound card, the red cross on the notification area still showed. So i went to sound devices, and it said that there was no audio output device installed, although when i change to the recording tab it shows all the 12 output of the card.
I have tried everything from older drivers to completely reinstalling windows passing through firewire legacy drivers, restarting the Windows audio services.....Pretty much everyting i could think of and could find through google. I have also contacted the manufacturer but have got no answer.
Now here's the cherry, I'm a musician and I have a gig on saturday and i can't get it readdy without sound.

Pleaaaaaase Help ME!!

A:Inputs but no outputs

Welcome qbit!

Have you tried uninstalling the sound driver in Device Manager, rebooting, and letting Windows automatically install the drivers?

How can i solve this problem? Graphics card is ATI HD4870 1gb. Ive had this problem before and didnt solve it and then the pc didn't boot anymore.

A:Can't use 1920x1080

Have you tried uninstalling then re-installing the drivers for both the graphics card and monitor ?
When you say you have had the problem before and the PC ceased booting, what action was taken to correct it ?

when i turn my computer on in the morning its goes thru the start up process .. listing the RAM etc then the screen fades out to black

the other monitor carries on as usual and shows the blue background of my log in screen

I found this gem of a forum when I finally upgraded my computer recently, used it plenty of times, however got a small issue that I thought this forum could out with.

My setup

Dell XPS 8300
ATI HD 5770 Gfx card
Windows 7 Home premium 64bit
Standard widescreen monitor connected to the desktop via DVI from the Gfx card
Widescreen TV connected to the PC via HDMI from the Gfx card

I use my Widescreen TV (on extended desktop)to watch videos, when my wife also wants to use the computer she uses the monitor to most surf the internet .

On this setup the sound comes out of my Widescreen TV with no issues because I use the HDMI output on my GFX card.

The issue is if my wife wants to use anything that requires audio like youtube, the sound outputs to the TV speakers.

Is there anyway I can separate the audio outputs, i.e. output video to HDMI and output firefox to soundcard/earphones?

I have a home theater system hooked up to my computer and I was just wondering if there was a graphics card that has rca audio outputs instead of headphone jacks.

A:Sound card with RCA outputs

Surely you mean a sound ard with RCA outputs?

Yes there are such cards, but it would be much more affordable to simpy use a phone-to-RCA adapter or cables with the 3.5mm stereo jack in one and the RCA plugs in the other end.

I have a M72e Desktop (ThinkCentre) - Type 0967  (Core i5-3470, 8GB).  I have been running it for several years on two monitors:  One from the VGA output an one from the DVI output.  HOWEVER, now I have a need to connect it to ONLY two DVI monitors.   I ASSUME that the one DVI port will not support two monitors, so I see a reference in the manual to a ?pci express x16 graphics card slot?.  I assume this means that I need to add another DVI video card into that slot. QUESTIONS:    #1. Does this seem like the right approach?  #2. Shoudl I get a card that just has on DVI, and then still use the on board port as well?  #3. The video performance that I?ve received thus far from the onboard graphics/ports has been fine (just basic work, no gaming), what specs do I look for when looking for a DVI card that will work with this machine (just looking for a basic card)?  Thanks!

Does either monitor also have a HDMI port?

Hello, Tech Support Guy

My keyboard is having a problem where it is outputting the wrong keys. The keyboards settings option in the control panel all set properly. I have not spilled anything on the keyboard.
The Keyboard is correct. It sometimes switches from qwerty to Belgian or French when I am typing in word, this happens intermitted when I am in different programs which includes my browser. My computer has slowed down and sometimes I can’t close windows. My computer is very quiet but after It has been on a while I hear what sounds like the hard drive humming louder than usual. The drive is over 3 years old so that may just be wear and tear.
I have used two other keyboard which all work and I get the same problem.
The numlock key is off. Even if I toggle it I get the wrong keys.

I've two homemade milling devices that mills a decorative 2d (plus set depth) so actually quasi-3d design onto wedding bands. I use a mouse to move the burr bit, the band turns at an appropriate rate. Each computer operates one device. I know that I could output to the two devices but the way it's set up, that will not work easily.

Here is the question. Is there a way to make a mouse output the same signal to two comupters? This could be a special mouse, or a program that acts as an intermediate, which makes two output, one going to computer #1, and the other to computer #2.

The program was made for me and works fine, at least, one by one. It runs on Win98se. I don't really want to try to change the program at all, but the output must be quite simple, I imagine.

Recently I purchased a new headset.
It connects to the computer through two 3,5mm jacks, a mic out and a sound in. (Never buying anything without USB again...)

My regular speakers are also connected through a 3,5mm jack.
I've attempted to keep my speakers plugged in the rear and my two headset cables in the front, but the sound out simply switches from rear to front.
What I need is two different outputs, one for my speakers and one for my headset (TeamSpeak usage).

So far as I've searched and tried it seems only possible through the Realtek HD Audio Manager.
Here's the kicker: I have an NVidia soundcard, and after 2 hours of rebooting, re-installing and browsing countless threads, I've come to the conclusion that I am completely and utterly UNABLE to install the Realtek HD Audio Manager.

So what I'm looking for:
a) Some way to get Realtek HD Audio Manager installed successfully.
b) Some way to get two unique audio outputs from one (on-board) soundcard.

A:Cannot get two audio outputs from one soundcard

The answer to b) above is to use a two way adapter like this:
