First of all, X1 Extreme is a good product.However, I was angry about my purchasing expierence on Lenovo. I tried to order a Y740 for my friend and X1 Extreme for myself on Lenovo official site last week. I was stuck on purchase page because my payment is always failed. I tried two of my credit cards and five of my frends' credit cards and none of them works. I contacted Lenovo support and tried to solve it and none of them is helpful. Some one just answered my call and then hung me up! I called Bank of America and confirmed my credit card is working and everthing is fine. I tried at leats ten times on placing the order. They all failed. The expierence is awful and I felt disguisting on Lenovo. X1 Extreme is my only choice because its lightweight so I have to place an order on Amazon and it made my pay extra  300 dollars on this laptop. And my friend gave up Y740 and chose Dell. I think I am gonna chose Dell next time. I owned a lot of Lenovo laptops since I was in school. The product is good and thats the reason why I keep using Lenovo laptops. However I felt very bad this time. X1 Extreme is my last Lenovo laptop and I just wanna complain to Lenovo and ask you please fix your disgusting payment system. Does anyone knows how to complain on lenovo's customer service ? This is my story:Ever since I bought my computer (yoga 710) a year and a half ago I haven't had one day of fully working computer.There were so many issues with it that I lost count - black screens, flickering screens, faulty camera, non-working speakers and most recently a network card that couldn't connect to most of the wifi networks out there. I had literally months of frustrations and a lot of time spent on the phone trying to fix it issue-by-issue. With all that said, what frustrated me the most is my dealing with your customer service. Most recent is a case manager that keeps ignoring me for months. I had on-going issues with the screen and around February a technician came to my house and replaced the motherboard and screen.Then the speakers could not work so I opened a ticket on March. This ticket was closed on its own on April so on May I reopened it.In the meantime some of the screen issues came back. I waited a month before I asked this case to be escalated and on June I was told that a customer care service will call me in 3 days.A month came by and I received an email from a customer care manager to provide a time for a call.Since then I tried reaching him for 2 months, in any way I could. Hello my name is Lukasz.I have few products of Lenovo and to this time i was content for this, becouse every products works fine and i did not need help from service side.But last time I had problem with Lenovo Y50-70 and I sent my computer using DOR-to DOR warranty.There was few problems with this computer. I described problem with overheating, graphics problem, right port USB, also in left-down corner on the display.  And now I can say that feel cheated by Lenovo authorised service in Poland. Becouse I am 100% sure that I sent to them laptop and first time cover was open over there and this demage was done in serwice time.  This damage was inside. I describe all situation.  After few days I must wrote to Lenovo with asking about my computer becouse i did not have information. No emails, no possibility to check by warranty check status by wwwWhen I got answer I was very, very negatively suprised. Verdict was incredible. They made preliminary inspection of equipment, and the service engineer diagnosed mechanical damage. We have a Server 2000 network with about 20 workstations that use XP Pro. We currently have 2001 Veritas Backup Exec for backups. I have tried to get familiar with it so I know what I am doing when needed. I have found this very hard to do. Is there any set procedures for disaster plans and is there anything out there better and easier? I've always read to do a test run before you have to do an actual one but don't know how to do a test run. Any help would be needed.

I just upgraded from a msi gtx 1080 to a msi gtx 1080ti i downloaded new nvidia driver and it wont let me optimize any of my games... They have a grey exclamation point and when i hit optimize it says optimization finished but dosent do anything... Anyone have any ideas?..... Also i installed a new psu went from a crappy azza 800w80+ to a evga 850w 80+ bronze and i thought maybe it was just the driver so i decided to download one of the older drivers from nvidia and once i did my psu usage went from its normal 6% to over 75000% usage this happened as soon as i was done installing driver so id restart goes back to normal is it a glitch or is something messed up with the psu?

I got this program last year and it involved paying a recharge fee every time my recharge ran out I used to have to go to the site and check boxes to ask for my recharge. Anyway I cancelled this program in february and heard no more until a few days ago when I got an email from them saying that they had recharged me and that the money would be taken off my card account. I emailed them back and they say I never cancelled. I've long since uninstalled and deleted any previous emails from this company. I feel like I am being conned I need somewhere to complain is there such a place to complain about dodgy online programs and services? And to get something done about them.

Bought a graphics card from OcUK 18 months ago for around 320. The card developed a defect a week ago. I phone OcUK for technical support and RMA but it turns out the card had only one year warranty.

Is this acceptable? should I take it further because I'm frankly pissed off that the card develops a defect only 18 months after purchase, which is only 6 months after the warranty expires.

What should I do?

If the warranty was 12 months, how can you expect them to do anything about it 18 months after purchase ? Warranty is out, and that's all there is to it.

You have nowhere further to take this.

I used to work for a small software shop, and when we needed a new PC, we went to Dell and bought it. We were acquired by a much bigger entity recently, to remain nameless, and now have to conform to the IT shop rules. Grrrr...

So my issue is: I bought a laptop a few months ago, with Windows XP, before we needed to toe the IT shop line. Now the IT gods at our parent say that they do not have an "image" for XP, but they do have an image for W2000, so it is easier for general maintenance going forward if they go to all of our laptops, and switch us over to W2000. I am not an expert on these things, but it seems to me that we are technically stepping backwards, and I am not that keen on having somone put a new and older OS on my laptop.

One thing about XP i like is the wireless Net connection, which works from my home, due to I guess an unsuspecting neighbor, and I am wondering if I will lose that when I go to 2000, or if that is a hardware thing.

Other then that, I am debating whether to put up a stink on this issue, and thus, am throwing it out to all you out there for ammunition should I choose to pick this particular battle.

Would this build give me choice to switch much out after some time, is it flexible? And what is your overal meaning after reading this? First time I build a computer, so all help would be great! I bought a Lenovo Y560.  The HARD DRIVE Failed.  I sent it back IN THE ORIGINAL BOX AS REQUESTED.  First, they sent the laptop back broke still.  Also they did not send the original box back.  I called them and they promised to send me a new HARD DRIVE, and Restore CD - they never did.  So I called consumer affairs and spoke with Tanis and Doris.  Doris promised to send me replacement hard drive and restore CD.  They sent a 160 GB hard drive to replace my 500 GB hard drive (hardly seems fair), and they sent a restore CD for the wrong model.  They also claimed to include a Fed Ex return label so I could return the old damaged hard drive (which I won't do until I get a proper size hard drive instead).  THEY DID NOT INCLUDE A SHIPPING LABEL. HOW INCOMPETENT CAN YOU GET - I NEED TO GET THIS THING FIXED ASAP SO I CAN SELL IT AND BUY A RELIABLE LAPTOP FROM A RELIABLE COMPANY LIKE APPLE. AS A FORMER IBM EMPLOYEE AND AN IBM STOCK HOLDER - DO NOT BUY A LENOVO.  I REPEAT DO NOT BUY A LENOVO. THEIR PRODUCTS ARE TERRIBLE AND THEIR SUPPORT AND CUSTOMER SERVICE IS EVEN WORSE.

I am using wsus to manage the updates on our network, which is based on vmware horizon for the user computers. When you use vmware horizon there're some recommendations to improve the performance, one of them is to set the update service to manual.
I still can have the computers updated using wsus (which will start the service on demand), but MBSA keeps complaining that the update system is configured to manual instead of automatic

I signed into Onenote to try it out using my MS password, which I haven't used in years. It was autofilled with a password manager, so I don't even know what it is. Then when I rebooted my computer, I found my MS password automatically applied to my computer!

Used my mobile to reset it, which wasn't difficult. But the idea of this alone is ridiculous.

What's the best way to direct my vitriol at Microsoft? Is there an input link that they actually respond to?

Has anyone had any luck in purchasing XP from one of these 'bulk online' retailers. I know that the pirated software can be/is bad for a number of reasons, but I'm if anyone legitimately sells the software this cheap. I recently had to reinstall my operating system and my XP cd wouldn't start on bootup, so I had to install another OS first. I was able to download the XP boot files, but there's no floppy on the laptop and I couldn't figure out how to make a bootable installation cd. A legitimate site list the price at $250+, but the other site has it as $60. Also, I have a System Builder XP Preinstall CD that came with my other computer, but I couldn't figure out how to install the system. Any help/suggestions would be great.

I have discovered the hard way that I can't use the version of XP that came with my Dell on another computer. When I was pricing XP Pro a couple of years ago, it was only about $129 retail... Now with Vista coming out, I assumed that those would hit rock bottom... It is now completely the opposite. I can't find a full version of XP Pro for less than $200 that is a non-upgrade one (and they never tell you what is needed to qualify for an upgrade version)... I wonder why the spike in cost...The development costs were paid off years ago for that O/S...

Anyway, my question is If I shell out the $$ for a full up version of XP, can I use it on my computer and any future/past computer (old computers I buy from friends and use as backup computers, etc)? Or is it like the one bundled with my Dell where the Product Key is computer specific and won't validate on another machine? I ask this because I need an O/S now and don't want to have this unexpected cost every computer I install this O/S on.

If you purchase the full version, you will be able to put it on any computer that is XP compatible, but you will only be able to have it registered with M$ on one computer at a time.

I tried to put XP Pro on a Vista computer that I bought for my ma... and apparently they do not make XP drivers for alot of the newer hardware. I had to wipe the drive and put Vista back on it due to a lack of video drivers.

well......The mega special would have been good 2 years ago but for that money ,at this time would get you a great quality rig including the os

If you have never put together your own pc before don't worry you can shop around for the parts you desire purchase them and have a genuine shop put it together for you ..

Also there has been release of newer mobo's cpu's ddr3 ram is super cheap now atleast 8 gigs for 130.00 bucks and higher timmings then the 1333

You will get alot further purchasing putting it together or having someone qaulified you trust to do it and you might even save a few bucks good luck and im sure other posters will feel the same way

Hi guys,

I'm planning on building a new PC in a few weeks with Windows 7 Professional as the OS. The PC I use at the moment has Windows Vista 32-bit edition, since my CPU is 32-bit only.

The new PC is going to have a 64-bit processor, and I wish to have the 64-bit windows 7 run on it.

Right now I'm confused as to what kind of Windows 7 package I need to purchase given my circumstances.

Will I need to purchase the full edition of Windows 7 (non-upgrade)?

Or can I just purchase the upgrade version of Windows 7, install the 32-bit vista version on the new PC and then upgrade from there?

The confusing part is that, from reading the FAQ, I need to do a custom installation if I want to upgrade from 32-bit vista to 64-bit 7 - and at that point, it's no longer an upgrade.

Welcome to Windows Seven Forums.

Looking at the price you're paying you may as well go with the full version of Windows 7 Professional.

A clean install on your new computer is the best way to go and far less time-consuming than installing Vista, and then upgrading it.

Hello all,

I am looking to buy a new PC in the new year and i am usure of what to get. I do a lot of online gaming and surfing and want a PC that is capable of nice crisp gameplay and performance.

I current have an AMD 1800+ Athlon XP CPU, 384 MB RAM, 20 Gig HDD, and 128 MB GeForce FX 5200.

I will keep my graphics card but want something a little quicker......any suggestions

My one friend says its good that the 6600GT has better driver support and technical support and that the drivers are updated alot more often then the 9800PRO

And my other friend says that the reason nvidia updates drivers and stuff more often then ATI is because they update to fix porblems...

I'm not sure whose more right....Could you please help? This is much appreciated!

Why not state the brand name of the "branded 500GB SATA 7200 16 MB Cache HDD. It appears to be either a Seagate or Western Digital with those specs... that can help us further advise you.
also the brands of the other components you have listed as "branded."
If you live in the USA (which you probably do not since your prices appear to be British) consider getting quotes from www.newegg.com, www.directron.com, www.zipzoomfly.com, www.cdw.com, www.Frys.com, www.Evertek, www.amazon.com, www.PCMall.com and so many others.

I see nothing about which to quarrel over the lest you have posted, and believe you are on the right track.

Since you have to hunt around different Lenovo sites (and other sites) to find out about these softwares, I decided to make a post to get feedback from actual Yoga owners on how these programs interact, what they do, which ones are prerequisite, and which ones are unnecessary. Please don't take this as a blanket answer. This is just what I have found. It might be right - it might be wrong. I'm looking for others to post their experiences as well. Lenovo System Interface Foundation Driver - Necessary prerequisite (missing driver in device manager without it). It allows the Lenovo Utility and Lenovo Companion to work. Lenovo Yoga Mode Control - Necessary if you want to use your yoga to seemlessly change between all the different modes (laptop, tablet, tent, stand). This software is responsible for autorotating and putting Windows into tablet mode. Lenovo Utility - Recommended(?) This one I'm not too sure on. I remember that I was missing some function that I wanted but I can't remember what it was now. Maybe battery cycle count and health? Lenovo Companion - I don't have this one installed and don't think it's necessary but would like someone else to shed some light here.

Hello, I need a new laptop and I'm not quite sure where to start because I know nothing about computers. I know that I need something that is very durable because I move my laptop a lot. I do a lot of music downloading, so I guess I need something with plenty of memory, I'm not quite sure. I was reading that it was good to get an external hardrive to add on to the internal hardrive, but I don't know if that's hard to do. I was thinking of going through Dell, but not sure if that is the best bet. If anyone can give me some tips and recommendations, that would be great! Thank You

Present PC a few years old, hard drive clicking on its last legs. Looking to replace it, preferably w/ a WInXP machine.

Any recommendations on machines to consider and places to purchase?

Uses to include website maintenance, photo editing (large file-size 21 megapixels), ability to support triple monitor setup and multi-task in word, outlook, photoshop and web without degradation in performance.

Then you've got a pretty big order to fill. You can probably get a pretty good PC from your mainstream suppliers (this is an example from HP: http://www.shopping.hp.com/webapp/s...&a1=Category&v1=Performance and entertainment)

But for any decent performance, you would probably be best to build your own computer. Ask around your local computer stores, or you can probably checkout sites like NewEgg (http://www.newegg.com/), assuming you are in the US. Please correct me if I'm wrong.

My pc at the moment is reaching the end of its usage and I was really looking to getting a new, top of line gaming pc. Researching however has really confused me :<

I want to try out one of the new quad core cpu's (especially since they dropped in price so dramatically), the new Nvidia board (the nForce 680i SLI board), and as much RAM as possible. I'm also regularly video editting and need the highest performance possible.

Can anyone recommend anything else/better? Its Nvidia's second board released and though there have been some good reviews, I don't know whether it is compatible with quad core processing.

Well, alot of computer-building threads come here, but they should go into the cooling and modding forum really....

Anyway....

The 680i is one of the best boards out there at the moment, and they're priced so as well, which is why I don't recommend them too often. But if you are going to run SLI, do some overclocking, and willing to pay a considerable premium for the best motherboard out there, the 680i is arguably the best board for you.

However, there are the new P35 boards out there, which may perform equally well. But I'm assuming they're going to be equally priced anyway.

Unless you're going to try to hit the highest overclocks possible, or need something specific available only in the 680i motherboards, I'm going to recommend that you take a look at some of the cheaper motherboards out there. I don't see why you should immediately discount the 650i or the P965 (well, with the P965 I'm not sure how well they support quad core...), and you should definately check out the P35.

I need to purchase Windows 7 ESU when i call the vendor I normally to purchase my open licenses they are telling me that I need to go directly to Microsoft as the "distribution centers" do not have the sku information to sell the support.
