Y510P SLI Graphics Card Burned

Q: Y510P SLI Graphics Card Burned

Just wanted to let others know about the SLI Graphics Card. All of a sudden my pc shutdown while viewing a Youtube video. I smelled some weird burning smell coming from the computer. Wouldn't boot, eventually I pulled the second graphics card on the right side of the pc. Looked at it and there was major burn spot on it. Started up the PC and it was fine without the graphics card. There must be some sort of overheating issue and they are defective. I rarely play games on this pc and this occured simply watching a youtube video which seems really odd. I do have two monitors hooked up to the system.

Preferred Solution: Y510P SLI Graphics Card Burned

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

My Sapphire Hd7750, which I had for i think 5 months, just stopped working. When I started up the computer this morning it went into the bootup screen saying Starting Operating System, then it just does nothing, so i restarted the computer. It booted up fine but it was very slow, after a while I decided to restart the computer, and plug in my hdmi cable to my HDTV. This time after the bootup screen, it goes black, and does nothing with no audio either.
Could this be the graphics card problem?

A:Graphics card burned out?

More then likely yes, try booting from the on board video from your motherboard and see if the same issue happens.
If it works then try resiting the video card and making sure there is no dust in the slot and try booting with it again. If the issue still happens then something is up with the video card or possibly the board but I couldn't say unless you had another video card to test to make sure it's not the motherboard with issues or another computer that is capable of booting graphic cards and has the right requirements. I think more then likely it's the video card having issues.

First off I have an ideapad y510p with a Gt755m, So a little while ago i got a BSOD with the code driver power state failure after updating the driver and the laptop would constantly restart only to get the same error code over and over and I was unable to launch safemode, Going into the bios i was able to convert the graphics settings from discreate to UMA and this switched to the intel graphics allowing me to access windows and activate safe mode. Long story short I tried several different methods to fix the problems but the error code kept arising so i finally settled to uninstalling the device and its drivers and restarted the laptop. Now the graphics card won't even be detected and I can't install any drivers because the software says no compatible hardware is detected. Im just curious but does anyone have any solutions or ideas? Or is the GPU just dead?
*Note - I also forgot to mention I did change the BIOS option from UMA back to discrete

Hey Everyone, I've recently noticed my laptop slowing as I played games like h1z1 on the lowest setting. Eventually, I would get error messages about my GPU when the game would crash. I noticed my drivers were out of date and SLI was also not enabled. I have since updated the drivers and enabled SLI but I still get many of the same problems.  The laptop has two GeForce GT 750M's. I downloaded MSI afterburner and it shows both graphics cards at 135/405MHz at rest. But while gaming, the second graphics card remains at that same amount and relatively the same temperature while graphics card number one goes to about 1058/2499MHz and 75-90 degrees C temperatures. I've also taken out the ultrabay with graphics card number 2 out and put it back in to make sure it wasn't loose. I honestly don't know what any of the data really means, but I'm really hoping to get this fixed. Any help would be greatly appreciated!! Let me know if I can provide any more information!

my y510p ideapad started having trouble charging a few days ago. manipulating the cable where it was in the port on the computer seemed to work initially. then it became more stubborn and harder to get the cable in the computer so that it would charge. i noticed some stuff on the charger plug that i wiped off. then when I put the cable into the computer i smelled burning and the charger brick (not the computer) started beeping. the charger plug definitely got burned.  what does the beeping mean? I thought this was just time to get a new charger but it seems like there is an overheating issue going on? should I bother getting a new charger or is this a ship the computer off/just get a new one situation?

Hi all. I recently obtained a used lenovo y510p from a friend with the following configurations. Windows 8.1 ProSLI capable with 2 geforce 750M cards6gb RAMItb Hard disk2gb dedicated video memory. It plays games at decent speeds with medium settings but I get different errors from each of the 3 games I've tried. For dragon's dogma dark arisen, the game suddenly slows down for a few minutes and picks up speed again after a few (maybe 5) minutes. With mass effect 2 the game screen hangs, while sounds and music continue as normal. ctrl alt deleting and pressing esc will make the game proceed as if nothing ever happened. Finally, for the witcher 3: wild hunt, I get the windows display driver has stopped responding error. The games are properly purchased and as far as i know, so is the OS. I've tried all nvidia display drivers between and including 347.09 to 364.72. I've tried closing all other apps, and ending all nv processes in the task manager. I've also tried different power plans and different nvidia power management modes. I've been monitoring the temp with HWmonitor and it usually tops out at around 81c which I understand is fine for this particular laptop. I even have a targus chill mat to help regulate the temp. Lastly, I've spoken to my friend and he doesn't remember having those issues at all, but he never managed to game with the laptop very often. Any help would be appreciated, this is my first lenovo product. I pereviously owned a dell xps.

Hi all. I just bought my Y510P from a guy on craiglsist who had barely used the laptop. (Like turned it on once and then put it in the corner for a year and a half)  When I got it, the guy had restored everything to the factory settings which was just Windows 8.1. My first problem is that the computer keeps defaulting to use the HD 4600 instead of the 755M that I have set as the default graphics card in NVIDIA Control Panel. I disabled the 4600, but then the computer was super slow. Any idea why this is happening? My second problem is that I can't find anything to speed up the fans so that the computer will automatically overclock the i7. I'm tempted to slowly force it to overclock and have the fan speed increase with the temperature, but I'm afraid that I'm going to break something that way.  If anyone knows of a way to control the fan speed then that would be great. Thanks. Computer specs: Lenovo Y510Pi7-4700MQ8GB RAM1TB HDD24GB SSD (PCIe)Intel HD 4600 Graphics and GT 755M

My latest problem with my Y510p is the SD card reader. I'm trying to read SDHC cards, several, and what has happened is that none were recognized, so I rebooted the machine, despite the recent reboot this morning, and was able to read a card. I was actually able to read two, and then when I inserted the third, after removing the second, it didn't show up. I tried a fourth instead, and it didn't show up. So I tried to go through my camera via a USB cable, and the camera isn't recognized. My other USB peripherals like an external keyboard and mouse still work. I'm not sure if the problem is in the reader itself, or maybe in the USB-bus internally? Maybe it's a driver problem. In any event, it's quite unreasonable to have to restart a computer between SD card reads.

I keep getting errors about needing an intel driver installed first. Suggestions?

Hi all, I have some problems with my Y510P, hope you guys can help me and pointing me in the right direction. A while back in February I decided to do a clean install of Windows 10 on my laptop. This was due to too much stuff on my PC and sometimes I would get random crashes (freezing at login-in screen from sleep, was the most common). Totally clean (no factory image reset (although I still have to partition) from USB disk created with Microsoft software). After that I installed the drivers, everything was working fine. When I put in the ultrabay GT755M, nVidia Geforce Centre could see two cards. Although I had actually no idea if the ultrabay card actually worked, in some games the air from that vent did get hottor.  Now the problems start:Yesterday I booted up my laptop, took some more time than usual. At login-screen I immediately noticed that the resolution had changed. I thought that was quite strange, it became even more strange when I got to the desktop. Strange artifacts would appear. So I opened Device Management in the configuration panel and it showed the 2 GT755M cards, one had a exclemation mark. It says: "this device has been stopped, problems have been reported, code 43". The Nvidia control panel didn't open and gave the message: "no display connected" which was quite strange, as my screen is still functioning. Also the sleep option disappeared from the start menu, I tried rebooting, didn't work.  After that I pulled out the ultrabay c... Read more

But if it is hardware related, that's useless. Anyway to find out?

Background of PC:

I have an ASUS A8N-SLI Deluxe Motherboard. I built PC from scratch, added RAM, CPU, Hard Drives, etc. Put in a cheap PCI slot video card just to get everything started. Everything was working fine. Just plunked $200.00 down for a new GeForce 7800 GT from PNY that goes into PCI express slot. I uninstalled the old driver for the PCI video card, took out the PCI video card and inserted the new 7800 into the PCI Express Slot. Restarted the PC and Windows was asking for drivers for 7800 card. Here's where the screwup begins... The 7800 also has a six prong connection that you plug the PCI-E power cord to for that extra boost. I decided to plug the power cord into the video card without powering off, boom, as soon as the power cord touches the video card connection, the whole computer shuts down. When I restart, the PC everything seems to be working fine, 7800 fan still working, CPU fan working, CD Roms lighting up, various Tower fans and lights all working. But now the monitor shuts down in power saver mode? The connection to the 7800 doesn't seem to work. I then pull out the 7800 and put the old PCI video card back in and connect the monitor to that, the fan works on the old card as well, but same thing, monitor shuts down into power save mode.

I have no idea what to do, did the motherboard PCI, and PCI Express slots burn out? the 7800 video card burn out? the entire motherboard burn out? Please Help, thanks.

A:Help, think I burned up my new video card or motherboard, maybe both

A:Upgrading your wireless card Y510p to Wifi AC

Modding BIOS voids warranty so if you bricked your laptop or some hardware malfunction occured after the modded BIOS flash, Lenovo won't repair your laptop. Try uninstalling the Proset drivers and then remove all of the drivers in the device manager by checking "delete driver software..." while unistalling the WiFi card drivers. Youll then be running Microsoft's which gives stable WiFi.

Hello, I have a ?Y510P Leonovo Ideapad? and found out, that the mainboard contains an empty port-connector labeled with ?SSD?. A picture of this connector is in the attached image. I am planning to upgrade the Laptop with an SSD-card to improve system speed. Within this context I have a couple of questions, regarding the specifications of this port and suitable SSD-cards: Does this port both accept SATA as well as PCIe SSD-cards?Is there a limitation on the maximum memory-size of the installed SSD-card? Can I install a 256GB SSD-card? (For example ?Transcend MTS400 256GB SSD?) ?Can I partition the SSD-card in a way to fully install Windows 10 on it, making it the boot partition. The SSD-card should then be visible as a standard drive C:\ under Windows. Can I also install a second operating system (Linux) onto a second partition on the SSD-card, making it a dual boot system?I would be very happy, if anyone could help me with these questions, so that I can upgrade the laptop with the appropriate SSD-card and configuration. Thanks in advance,electron8000

The computer I used was '' Lenovo Y510P ''. There is a '' Nvidia GT755M [SLI] '' as a display card. I have tried both ways of downloading the video card driver from both GeForce Experience and Nvidia driver site. Both kinds of graphics cards are starting to update. Later, the 'graphic driver is installed' part of the screen goes and never comes again. I can not enter Windows when I turn off the computer. I have to take format from scratch. After formatting, Windows automatically loads a graphics card driver in 2017, trying to update the driver again, it stays black on the screen again. I have to format again. With DDU (Display Driver Uninstaller) program, I deleted the old video card driver and updated it again. But I met the same problem.I communicated with Nvidia and stated that I had such a problem. They asked me not to install the 388.13 video card driver. That graphics card driver has been loaded without any problems. But I have the same problem with all the video card drivers out there.NOTE: This problem only happens on Windows 10. I can update the display board without any problems in operating systems like Windows 8,8.1.NOTE: I have been having this problem for about 2 months, before I could update my display card in Windows 10 without a problem. The driver I am currently using is: 388.13

Hi for the last 4 months ive been trying to fix a problem that ive been having with my computer.
about 4 months ago I did a major pc upgrade where i replaced my motherboard, processor, ram, heat sink, power supply and case, the only things I used from the original computer where 2 HDD's, 1 SDD and my AMD radeon HD 6950 2gb.

Now ive have the most strange issue where i can be watching a video off the HDD or surfing the web on youtube etc and not long after I start the activity my computer will turn off like if I had flicked the switch on the back of the power supply and then it boots back up again and will run fine until i start up an activity again and then it does exactly the same thing and reboots, there is no BSOD shown nor Dumps Created.

Ive tried many things to sort this out and have RMA'ed the power supply and the motherboard (the motherboard wasn't a direct replacement as they didn't sell my original board anymore which was a gigabyte ga-x79-ud5, now i have an asus p9x79 deluxe). I have tried only plugging in one HDD/SSD and then tried a spare HDD when that failed, i have tried one ram stick at a time and still nothing.

now heres where it gets strange whilst trying to rule out differnt hardware i switched my AMD card out for a very old 512mb, pcie 1.0 x16 nvidia graphics and since then my computer has been running marvelously i can have it playing videos for hours, days even(although i havent properly tested for days) and not a single problem at all.

The comparison you are making between GPU brands is pointless as a diagnostic. The MAIN difference I can see is that one card requires external power, and the other one does not. A proper diagnostic would be to test another GPU that requires external power.

I've heard that the specific PSU you bought will sometimes not power all the hardware it is supposed so.
People saying it could barely power a SSD, or even an extra fan.

My thoughts. Try using another PSU, try using a similar GPU. Use your old PSU and see if it still happens for starters.

A:How to install graphics card when the existing graphics card in not working.

You could always stick the new one in and boot up in safe mode. Then proceed to uninstall all the remnant drivers. That *shouldn't* cause any problems, but it may be choppy when you boot up.(I've had this happen before, swapping a Riva TNT2 for a GF6600).

Do you have the PCIe set as first to initialize in the BIOS? Also, have you tried the card in another slot on the MoBo? Have you tried cleaning out the slot with canned air? Have you tried using a pencil eraser to gently clean the contacts in the GPU where it plugs into the PCIe?

And please, thoroughly fill out your System Specs by clicking on the tab under your post.

Hey, recently, I have came up with an idea of a fourth monitor, but my GPU (970) supports only three, which ones that I own. It has fourth one but I don't have the right cables for it for now.
I noticed that my motherboard has two open video ports, one being VGA which I needed. So, I tried just plugging it in and seeing what happens but it doesn't seem to work, I have tried looking for results around the internet and BIOS but they don't seem to work. The three monitors which I have plugged into my GPU, work perfectly fine, but, as I said, the motherboard's VGA port doesn't work. I have heard that such thing definitely is possible, but I cannot find out what I need to do.

Does anyone have an answer to this?

since my new card is using nvidia software also I really dont know what else to to disable or uninstall.
The display adapter is now the new card that part is working I guess

The card I just installed is 3d fuzion Specifications

here is the link to more specifications

These are the specifications on my computer

If my motherboard currently has an intigrated graphics card, but has a PCI-E slot, do I need to do anything special after inserteing my graphics card and installing the drivers, or should it just work right away?

A:How do you switch from an integrated graphics card to an "external" graphics card?

Most modern PCs will detect the new installation of the PCI graphics card and automatically disable the onboard graphics, so yes it should just work.

If for some reason you have problems, you may have to make a change in the bios, I cannot be more specific because each bios is different depending on manufacturer, and model of the motherboard.

Install the card, connect your monitor to it and boot up, when you get into Windows install the driver and reboot.

Hey everyone, I'm in dire need of some help with my PC. The computer turns on fine, and boots up (can hear the windows start up tune) but I can't see anything on the monitor. Here's the details:

I was playing a computer game on friday, and during that it crashed. I have no idea if this is when things started or not, but I restarted and it was fine.

On sunday I had another crash, only the screen flickered once or twice and there were green pixel lines going from top to bottom of the monitor , about 2 inches apart in a perfect pattern. When I restarted, there were no graphics on the monitor. The light was flashing indicating it was on power saving mode.

I took the computer apart, unplugged everything, and put it all back together, and for whatever reason it worked fine for about 6 hours.

The next day I turned the computer on, and it loaded fine, but shortly after there was the return of the green pixel lines, with the added addition of the top left corner of the screen being filled with green pixelated triangles in a perfect pattern. These were flickering furiosly.

I tried restarting my computer, and again I got no graphics posted to the monitor. However the computer booted up fine, and I heard the start up tune, and 5 minutes later I shut it down by pressing the "Power Off" button on my keyboard.

I tried another monitor and again, got nothing. I then tried taking the computer apart and putting it back together again, only this time it didn'... Read more

A:Graphics card doesn't post any graphics to my monitor, computer boots up fine

Its usually just the graphics cards, they do fail especially if they overheat - then video card fan not speeding up might have been the problem - most are dynamic and should actually speed up under load. Depending on the manufacturer of your 8800GTX you might be able to get it replaced under warranty if they have a 3 year or greater warranty.

Is it possible to enable the onboard graphics card on these computers in addition to using the graphics card that was added? I'm setting up these computers with multiple monitors and I would like to have one monitor using the displayport on the graphics card that was added, and the other connecting to the onboard graphics card through VGA. Please let me know it:A. This is possible.B. The steps to enable both. Thank you.

A:ThinkCentre M910t Tower - Enable onboard graphics in addition to graphics card

It was possible with previous generations of systems using this procedure:  Enabling multiple monitor support: ThinkCentre Edge 71 - M900.   It could be that the document hasn't been updated, if you could give it a try, and let us know if it works, or post with screen shots of what is different.  Ty.

My name is Apoorva. I am from India.

Now I would like to know the basic difference in terms of performance for an onboard graphics card and an external graphics card for a Laptop.

What could be a major difference?
Also, for Onboard graphics, it is said on all the branded website that the size of it is upto 384MB shared.

So, say for instance, if I go for an external graphics card for a new laptop which I am planning to purchase and the size of this external graphic card is 256MB or 128MB and as Onboard graphic card already provides 384 MB shared memory, therefore the question is that how could that external graphics card sizing 256 MB deliver better performance as compared to Onbard graphics which sizes 384 MB shared?

Also, how are the new laptops launched by HP in India in terms of performance, mobility & stability?
The Laptop which I am looking for falls under 6700 series and is a business series laptop.
Waiting eagerly for a reply...

How to reproduce (occassionally): 1. Have a Lenovo P70 w/ latest Lenovo drivers installed + all Windows updates in place.1.a. have Hybrid Graphics set in BIOS.2. Play some Counter-Strike (or most any game that goes full-screen that relies on the graphics card).3. exit the game.4. be forced to hard-shut down the system because all you get is a black screen (keyboard buttons work but no response from OS). How to not have the problem:Same steps above except for1.a. set graphics mode to use Discrete graphics exclusively.  Are others experiencing this issue? Is this a known issue?

A:Whats a Good Graphics card for Gaming and using Adobe Software-Graphics

I've done a lot of research on this because I built a new system back in August. While I am not much of a gamer, I needed a very good NLE machine. However, the card I chose is quite the gamer card but had all the extras I needed to run Adobe Video Collection.

I picked the Connect 3D Radeon X850XT Platinum card from Tigerdirect. At the time it was $350 but I know it's cheaper now. It's got everything you need for a demanding application like Premiere Pro 1.5 and its related software. 256MB of GDDR3 memory and dual DVI outs. I highly recommend this card. I've been using it since the start of September with Adobe and it's great.

Your CPU and memory are a bit more of an important factor with rendering and burning though. My new PC has a 3.4Ghz P4 and 2GB of 533Mhz dual channel RAM. It's an exceptional increase in speed and productivity over my old 2.4Ghz and 512 Rambus.

Hello,I can't seem to find specific information about this pc related to this topic. I have a client that wants to have a hdmi port and dual monitor installed. I looked everywhere in the bios settings, I tried using a usb-to-vga adapter & and vga, dvi-d cable & vga (this mirrors both monitors, but cannot extend the display). When I changed the settings on the bios to use the built in graphics, it gives me the option to enable multiple monitors but cannot use my pcie graphic card. If i select to use the pcie graphic card, i cannot use the built in graphic ports or the usb-to-vga adapter (it does not see the other monitor) and also if I use the dvi adpater and the vga it mirrors the display. I'm guessing that the bios does not support dual graphic cards but thought of asking here. The reason the client wants this is to be able to connect a projector using hdmi and to have dual monitors. Any information will be greatly appreaciate it. Thank you.
