Lenovo Yoga 730 15' Battery Draining

Q: Lenovo Yoga 730 15' Battery Draining

Can someone please help me? I just got my new laptop today and the battery has drained 16% in less than an hour. Is this normal? I don't understand when the stats say the battery can last up to 11 hours why this battery is draining so quickly. Any help would be appreciated

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

The main reason I bought the Yoga 12 is the claim that its battery will go for hours and hours on one charge. This machine is only a couple of months old and the battery drains from 100% to nothing in just a couple of hours.  I'm not doing anything battery-intensive. Using WordPerfect for work, Chrome browser for email and internet. Not downloading anything.  I would love a suggestion to fix this. Thanks.

I have Lenovo Z51-70 laptop and its battery was giving backup of 2:30-3:00 hours, but now, the situation is worst, it drains out in just 20minutes or even less. The customer service is pathetic.I still have the additional warranty of 2 years but the technical assistant said that won't be covered. However, the warranty term reads:"Extended Warranty Agreement covers components installed in your Covered Product at the time of purchase, including the internal central processing unit, integrated hard disk drive, integrated optical drive, integrated keyboard, integrated pointing devices, integrated LCD screen, optional features installed by Lenovo at the time of purchase, and other components that Lenovo includes as a standard feature with the Covered Product."Isn't a battery standard product with any laptop? or, Lenovo just manufactures products to last for a year?I want my problem to be addressed by one of your competent assistants or, replace my battery as per the warranty terms.Awaiting a quick response. Thanks,Animesh ThakurMob: 8285910544

Hi there, Piers ?

Thank you for writing in to the Lenovo Forum - happy to have you here today

Did you try calibrating the battery?

Also, you can also start by flushing out all static, remove battery and AC adaptor and hold down power button for about 20 seconds.

Update us how it goes.

I recently bought a new battery to replace my old one, which was old and draining rather fast. However, this new battery only shows slight improvement. Are there any sorts of drivers I could install or anything I could do to fix my battery? My battery lasts for about 1-2 hours when I do everything i can to conserve battery. Sometimes, it drains 1% or 2% in less than a minute, which adds up quickly and kills my laptop fairly quickly. If anyone could help me, it would mean so much to me.

Hello together, I'm using a new Thinkpad L380 for about 4 weeks and have been experiencing battery drain issues when off since the first day. After all possible corrections found on this forum (Bios Update, Win10 QuickStart, Managment Foundation... and some more) it now comes down to a final observation:When I shut down the computer and the battery threshold in Lenovo Vantage is off, it will keep its charge for two or more days without loosing a single percent of battery charge. If I shut off the computer with battery threshold activated (e.g. after using it at a docking station), the charge will decrease by approx. 6% every 12 hours, so after a weekend without use more than 30% of the battery charge has disappeared. I was very surprised to find out, that this for sure is the only remaining issue, but I can repeat it over and over again and everytime I deactivate the battery threshold function, my battery will keep its charge when shut down. Is there any solution or improved Lenovo Vantage functionality (current is 4.12.13) known or to be expected to solve this issue? Thank you for any helpful reply

Hi. I got my custom order X280 In July with all features for office purposes and use it just 15 times since then. The battery was never drain in shutdown mode in the first days of use. I remember that after one week being off the battery had the same percentage of charge at restart in the first month of use. Since then whenever I start it I check in Vantage if there are updates and I made the necessary updates every time, Windows updates, System updates, Bios etc. By about two weeks I noticed the battery is discharging between 6 and 8 percent overnight which is quite frustrating and annoying for a three month product. Something happened which consume the power overnight when is turned off. If they are Lenovo employees on the forum please advise me what to do. I would like to know is there is a warranty defect, something that can be fixed by the following updates or something that I can personally change in order everything come back to normal. PS. I have the USB ON disabled from Vantage Thank you.

The battery status toggles between not charging, not used, and unauthorized battery after it was calibrated using one key. Before that, the battery was working perfectly, lasting close to 5 hours. Now the laptop shuts off when unplugged and the battery status is constantly changing. I've had this laptop for approximately a year now and it was unused and left in an unopened box for the first 8 months.

My Yoga 3 Pro-1370 does not detect its own battery. At the lower right of the screen, it appears the battery sign empty and crossed by a diagonal line. When I click on it the message "The battery is not used" appears.  OneKey Optimizer says: "No battery is present". Please see two images attached. Got the laptop and the battery inspected by a professional but he couldn't fix the problem. He himself updated the Bios, Windows, cleaned the inside and the fan of the computer but the problem is still there. Please provide me with a solution ASAP.

I'll try and explain this one best i can. User came to me with their Yoga 15 with an issue where it randomly shuts down on battery power, as in completely switches off.  It sometimes displays a message to say the battery cannot be detected, other times just shuts down. The conclusion I've found is that when the bottom panel is off the machine the battery is completely detected in Windows, and the Lenovo Settings app. It runs fine, never cuts off even with lots of IE instances open.As soon as I put the bottom panel back on the battery appears to be disconnected in Windows, and it also shows it not charging. Intermittently it also states the battery power is low or not detected when booting up. Found that there's a battery / system reset button on the underside that may be the cause of the issue. Pressing this button with the underside of the Laptop off resets the machine entirely, I believe it's the battery reset button incase the machine ever gets stuck at any point (as by rights it's a non-removable battery and there's a small pin hole on the case over this button). Works flawlessly without the bottom case in place, as soon as I re-connect it when the unit is on Battery power I loose the battery status in the Lenovo Settings app. The machine will then randomly shut down. Any thoughts on this one, it's the strangest thing. Many thanks all.

A:Lenovo Yoga 15 - shuts down on battery

When you put the panel back, is it touching/blocking any wires?
Have you tried to do a factory reset? If everything works fine then, try updating drivers one by one to see if it comes back.

Last September 2016 I bought a new Lenovo Yoga 3 PRO, I was quite happy with the battery life and the overall quality of the product. Now, 6~7 months later I still quite happy with screen, audio, materials... but not with my battery life. I give this computer use as home main driver for coding and web browsing, with some photo editing with Adobe Lightroom from time to time, nothing intensive that might heat up the computer on excess. I also try to give the computer "healthy" battery cicles, not leaving 0% battery for long periods neither leaving 100% battery plugged all the time. However, when today my battery seemed not to charge and have been experience shorter and shorter battery life over the last months, I was shocked when I saw on HWMonitor that my total battery capacity droped from 44.000 mWh to 14350 mWh. I could not believe it. Check here: That is too much battery loss for such a short period using my computer! Any idea of what I can do to fix this? I have just been unlucky and got a lemon with this computer? Should I send it back to seller?

I currently own yoga 710-14 with i5-6200U cpu. I managed to install windows 8 on this device. I installed battery bar application that shows battery usage. After few first charges it started showing that my battery quality is becoming worse. Now after 3 weeks it shows that I lost 25% of my battery max capacity. It's 39900mWh from factory 53000mWh. I charged it less than 20 times so it shouldn't die so fast. At this rate I will reach 0% capacity after 9 weeks.I charge it for about 4-6 hours, then disconnect, and use until battery reaches ~10%. Then I turn it off and charge until full. I never use it during charging, always on battery. However I am wondering if it is battery fault or it's just windows 8 incompatible with my battery meter?I installed some kind of lenovo battery tool to check if my battery was faulty (from faulty battery exchange campaign in the past) but it said there is no battery.I tried to generate windows report by powercfg /batteryreport but it didn't show any info.I mean it displayed:DESIGN CAPACITYmWhFULL CHARGE CAPACITYmWhCYCLE COUNT-without any values. However powercfg -energy gave me same info as battery bar and HWINFO programs. My cable looks good to me, it is not even bent at any place.  Is the laptop faulty? I have never faced so many problems with a new laptop. Please help. Thanks

Hi, I have a Lenovo Yoga 3 14, but it seems to be having some issues with power, here's what I've tried so far and the results. 1. Running with just battery: Device powers on for about 15-20 seconds, can hear the internal workings going on, such as the fan, and then it suddenly shuts down. Nothing ever displayed on the screen. 2. Running with just battery plugged into TV with HDMI: Same as before, except the TV shows Windows 10 booting up, it gets to the "Please Wait" screen just before Windows asks you to login, and then the laptop shuts down before it ever gets to the Windows login screen. 3. Running with Battery and Power adapter plugged in: Identical to 1 and 2. Whenever the battery is in, the display NEVER works. 4. Running with Battery unplugged from the Motherboard and the Power adapter plugged in: Display works on laptop, and the device runs reasonably smoothly, but still shuts down randomly sometimes, quite often when playing games, if I'm just messing around with word processing or internet browsing, it can last hours before it shuts down. Can withstand the Lenovo solution center testing (Full CPU and disk load) without powering down. I'm at a loss as to what's wrong with it, I assumed it was a power problem, and the battery alone can't send enough power to run the display, whereas the AC power supplies more power, but it still shuts down randomly sometimes, and the laptop is on a solid desk, it's not caused by the l...
