email archive folders

Q: email archive folders

I have lost my main client's folder from my list of archives. I don't know how to get it back. I went to Windows 98: drive:\Windows\Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\Outlook

and see that it could be here as "mailbox.pst". I don't know how I put it there or how to get it back.

Can anyone help?

I recommend downloading and running Outlook PST Repair. It's a PST repair tool that I've used it in the past to recover emails, contacts, tasks and notes from corrupt Outlook files that are damaged or inaccessible. Supports Outlook 2000, 2002, 2003, 2007, 2010 and 2013.

You can download it direct from this link http://goo.gl/1bjhSi. (This link will automatically start a download of Outlook PST Repair that you can save to your computer.)

Which folders are you AutoArchiving?
What are the settings? 6 months etc.

The Archive Folder you are referring to, did you open that .pst file into Outlook 2002?

Hi poppea

Outlook archives messages based on the Modified date.
You can view the Modified date by choosing the Modified column under Field Chooser > All Mail Fields

After viewing the Modified date on your Inbox messages, do they fall within the parameters configured for AutoArchiving?

Also, while AutoArchive can be configured to blanket all the folders in that Personal Folder, each folder can be changed to not AutoArchive.
Right click the Inbox folder
Properties > AutoArchive tab to view the settings for that folder.
It is possible that AutoArchive is not enabled for that folder.

I'm trying to extract a large program and WinRAR has say, Disc 3 in two different folders. Parts 1-7 are in one, (the 7th part has an arrow indiciating it's incomplete) and parts 7-24 or whatever are in another folder (the rest of part 7 is in this second folder, also with an arrow). I've tried to extract them to the same location but then it just leaves out the 7th part altogether, and it won't let me manually extract just the 7th part to the folder with all the other parts. Any help is greatly appreciated, thanks.

Are Outlook and the desktop the only problem areas? For example are other saved files actually "saved" and other changes kept?

A user at my workplace intermittantly get the following error message when trying to open his archive folders on Outlook 2003:

Archive.pst is in use and could not be accessed. Close any application that is using this file, and then try again.

If he then closes Outlook and opens it again he usually can open his archive folders (he has about 6) but after opening several of them he gets the error message again. I initially thought it was a corrupt pst file but they can't all be corrupt.
Any suggestions would be most appreciated.

I'm setting up a new(er) PC and migrating my software and files from the old (PC1) to the new one (PC2). Both have Outlook 2003 on them. Both are running XP Home SP2.

Last night I copied all of the *.pst files (Outlook.pst, Contacts.pst, Archive.pst, etc) from the PC1 folder to the equivalent folder on PC2. When I opened up OL2003 on PC2 this morning it read my full Outlook.pst files with the standard Inbox and whatever folders I haven't yet set up as archive folders. It did not read my Contact folders (have two separate ones - personal and work) and it did not show any of my archive folders that do show on the folder tree on PC1.

I have spent endless time today attempting to import these various folders in every way I can think of and "... 'nuttin' works..." from an import perspective. I've got full access to both HDD's, etc, (PC's sitting here on my desk).

The supposed process is (from PC2) to highlight "Personal Folders", then File/Import and Export/Import from another program or file/Next/Personal Folder File (.pst)/(Browse to Outlook folder on PC1)/Contacts_C.pst/(choose 'Replace duplicates..."/Next/... and then it gives you the choice "Choose folder to import 'from', yet it shows you the new folder "Contacts_C" as a new folder on the Personal Folder tree on PC2...????... /Import, blah, blah.../Finish. It appears to do its magic, but...

I have several years, and approximately 25000 email messages backed up in my Eudora archive. I am using the latest public version of the program available here:https://wiki.mozilla.org/Eudora_ReleasesEven though I use mailwasher to pre-sort and check all of my imcoming mail, there are two trojans that I can not remove from the Eudora email archive. Kapersky detected them as trojan-spy-html-fraud-gen and trojan-downloader js.pegel. The lastet scan found four instances of each, and it is not possible to automatically remove them (it will delete the archive), find them by date, or search and find them in the archive by address or subject.Let me know if you have any suggestions. Have already ran Microsoft Security Essentials, Malwarebytes and SuperAntiSpyware on full scans, still cant remove it.

A:Two trojans in Eudora email archive, cant remove

Still running a full Kapersky virus scan. Was able to delete one of the Trojan-Spy.HTML.Fraud.gen entries, was a press release from a sports league that contanied a PDF file.

First attempt at clearing archives with kapersky deleted two big email archives. Was able to restore them with .wdseml data and the ImportExportTools plugin, but it deleted all of the attachments in the process. Only had mailed backed up till around January, but the possibility of trojan via attachment is not there anymore.
Three of those Trojan-Spy.HTML.Fraud.gen entries still remain, as well as:

Trojan-Downloader.JS.Pegel.bc

HI all. I have a PC and a laptop both running Windows 7 and Thunderbird/Firefox. I have a bunch of email folders on my PC, where I hold important emails, that I would like to copy over to my laptop when I travel, the way I do other files I need to have with me at all times. I can't locate the email folders on my PC. Is this possible to do and can someone tell me how?

Thanks.

A:Solved: Where are email folders?

See here:
http://support.mozillamessaging.com/en-US/kb/profiles?s=profile&as=s
"Backing up a profile
To back up your profile, simply shut down Thunderbird and then copy the profile folder to a backup location (such as an external disk or drive).

Moving a profile
Occasionally, you might want to move a profile or tell Thunderbird to use a profile stored in another location.
Shut down Thunderbird.
Move the profile folder to the desired location. For example, on Windows XP, move the profile from C:\Documents and Settings\[username]\Application Data\Thunderbird\Profiles\xxxxxxxx.default to D:\Stuff\MyMailProfile. (If you are reverting to a backed up profile, this step isn't necessary. Just note the current location of the profile you want to restore.)
Open up the profiles.ini file in a text editor. The file is located in the application data folder for Thunderbird:
On Windows 7/Vista/XP/2000, the path is %AppData%\Thunderbird\
On Windows 95/98/Me, the path is usually C:\WINDOWS\Application Data\Thunderbird\
On Linux, the path is ~/.thunderbird/
On Mac OS X, the path is ~/Library/Thunderbird/
In the profiles.ini file, locate the entry for the profile you've just moved. Change the Path= line to the new location.
If you switch from a relative path to a non-relative path, the direction of the slashes may need to change. For example, in Windows, non-relative paths use backslashes, whereas relative ones use forward slashes. Change IsRelative=1 to IsRelative=0.

I am soooo hoping there is still hope! i got a message last night when closing my email asking if i wanted to compact my messages (1st time i ever got that message( and bcs i have alot of emails i clicked yes - so i lost all my folders and contents. in a search on the internet i found a thread from this site about such problems and how to restore the messages but i messed it up.
i did a search for dbx files and found them, i also looked in my recycled bin and found them there ( i can't remember if their were .bak or .dbx files though) but i thought if followed the instructions by copying them to a seperate folder i created on my desktop - then this is where it gets messy - i somehow right clicked on 1 of the files and i think when i clicked open, it asked me with what program and once i searched the different programs available there seemed to be no way back to undo this - until then i think it said this file opens with an "unknown program" - so i had to pick one and when i did it changed the look of all my files in the folder and the option to "restore" is no longer there.
Is there any hope???
please?

How do I transfer a email folder to my desktop?

A:Transferring email folders to desktop

Insufficient information to assist
What email program is being used
Do you mean an actual folder such as Inbox, Sent, etc.
or a personal folder established by you.

Or do you mean something attached to an email, although not really called a folder

Running Win98 and OE 5.5 where I had a number of folders set up in the inbox. Lots of emails in the folders. Activated OE one day and couldnt see any emails in the inbox. none. A tech was able to export the inbox to another file, where I can see the names of the file folders. When we re-imported to OE the emails in the inbox reappeared minus the folders and their contents. In other words emails not in folders were retrieved. Is there any way to get the rest back?

A:Outlook express email folders

If you still have the "exported" copy of Inbox.dbx and can see the sub foldeds in it, you may still have some hope. Get this free program to try and salvage them DBXTract
If you are able to retreive them, and even if you are not. Take this as a warning NOT to store ANYTHING in any of the dynamic folders in OE (Inbox,Sent Items, etc) even if you have sub folder under them..they are (as you now know) VERY succeptable to corruption; especially if you use the "Compact in background" options..most OE "experts" will tell you to disable this function and do manual folder maintiance. I'll tell you the same thing although I don't consider myself an "expert''
