Win 10 ready updated but how to increase 2 days of postponement time?

Q: Win 10 ready updated but how to increase 2 days of postponement time?

I thought I would have up to next July to decide when to get Win 10 going after the update procedure but it only gives 2 days  - how can I postpone it for much longer?

Preferred Solution: Win 10 ready updated but how to increase 2 days of postponement time?

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

A: Win 10 ready updated but how to increase 2 days of postponement time?

You can postpone it indefinitely I think by just ignoring the message and closing the window. If you want, you can uninstall the KB3035583 and simply upgrade via the Media Creation Tool whenever you are ready.

I did a quick search to see if this feature has been brought up and found nothing, suprising because sounds like a great feature.

basically if you stick a flash usb 2.0 drive in your computer and select ready boost you should be able to get a better performance from superfeth (again another innovative vista-only gadget to improve performance). However I'm having problems with this and only get the error message:

The device (IC USB Storage-CFC) will not be used for a ReadyBoost cache because it is not attached to a supported interface.

I think this could be because my compact flash card id connected to my computer through an external card reader, could anybody clarify if this is the reason for sure?

A:Vista Ready Boost - Increase mem performance

Sounds right. There are throughput parameters that may not be met that way. How is the reader connected?

How do I change the amout of storage reserved for SystemRestorePoints on partition D?

Is there a Registry entry for that?

As I found out the current number of days my RestorePoints are kept is 90 days.

How can I increase these number of days?
Is there a Registry entry for that?

If I change this number somehow to "0" does that mean unlimited?

I prefer to keep RestorePoints unlimited.
If there is not enough storage space for a new RestorePoint then the oldest should be removed.

How can I setup this "queue" RP strategy?

A:How to increase max storage for RestorePoints? Unlimited keep days?

You would use the configure tab to manage the space used, as far as I know, that`s all you can change.

Hi all,

I come with my tail between my legs and a begging bowl for advice...and old story on i'm sure I have tried everything I can think of and have followed every bit of advice I could find. Here's the story...

I have a home build PC: Asus P6T2 Deluxe V2, 12GB (6x2) identical DDR3, i7 920, 650W PSU, GTX 260 Gainward GS GPU (896MB) in a CM sniper case, Corsair H70 water cooled. It has been running like a dream for 12 months now with only 1 BSOD when establishing a safe & stable OC at 3.6 Ghz with super cool temps all round - the BSOD came after 10 hours running Prime95 @ 4.0 Ghz, so I resorted back to a safe OC.

2 days ago I updated my GTX 260 GPU drivers, from the official NVidia homepage...and all went well, until 4 hours later the PC just crashed to black, no warnings, no BSOD, nothing. It just crashed on it's ar$e and tried to reboot and ever since then it was thrown up a BSOD every single time I try to reboot. Even in safe mode. (for some reason, about 139 reboots ago it did manage to boot up the OS into safe mode, whereby I attempted to uninstall the NVidia display drivers using Add/Remove program and...it crashed to BSOD when it started the process!)

I have tried system restore, repairing, memory tests, all attempts at safe mode booting are failing too. They all fail just after the log in screen. The W7 log in screen loads up fine and I put in my password hit enter then after a varying amount of time (5-60 seconds) the BSOD happens. 1 in every 20 attem... Read more

a client updated to 10 on his lenovo t530 and a few days later, it won't boot and shows just a blinking cursor. i've searched the heck out of this and tired to fix the mbr through cmd. bootrec did seem to work in deleting and renaming the error logs, but same booting result.

further searching showed a possible graphic driver conflict. i then used the ESD commander, but when loading, it doesn't show any other earlier installs than 10. i can use the recovery tools, but it doesn't show any earlier restore points (client says there were). i then go into ESD and it can't find any problems with dumps that might identify exactly which driver is causing this booting issue. any ideas what graphic drivers to disable? also, if they need updating how do i do that from these rescue disks i use?

also, i've read this might be something as simple as tweaking the bios, but i haven't gotten that far yet.

to back out of this win 10 'upgrade', do i need the OEM disc that came with the laptop? the client doesn't have it any longer.

finally, what makes this so frustrating is the machine itself is working verrrrrrrrry slooooooooooowly, a click to the next page takes minutes instead of a second or two. something that would take a minute after clicking now takes an hour.

sorry for such a long story. back to the coffee and THANKS for any ideas!

I have tried to solve this problem for 30 days. I shutdown my Windows 7 Home Premium. When I try to reboot using my F 1 key on my screen there is a( 4 x 4 ) Message Block.

It says Step 1. Mode Setting

Choose the settings mode you want
(x) In Store ( is checked ) ( Home ) is unchecked

( X ) Enter ( is selected ) ( Home ) I cannot install text to select home

I try to reboot my computer using the F 1 Key ( rapidly hitting the key ) on start up but I cannot bring up where I can select ( Home )

A friend of mine recently updated his video card drivers, and upon restarting his computer his screen resolution was set to 640x480 and colour quality set to 4-bit. The slider will still move, but as soon as you click apply it just sets itself back to the lowest settings. I've updated both his video card and monitor drivers, and tried decreasing hardware acceleration, but the problem persists.

Monitor: Samsung 953BW (most recent driver version 1.0)
Graphics card: Nvidia GeForce 8800GT (most recent driver version 285.58)

DirectX is updated to the latest version and I'm completely lost as to where to go from here. He updated the graphics card drivers in an attempt to fix graphical problems in a couple of games and now everything is gone to ****. Thanks =)

I believe you might have the wrong drivers? Try this one.

Also try uninstalling the old drivers reboot then install the new ones.

I'm a dumb stupid idiot so I have to ask you guys for help.

1920x1080 Monitor, Windows 7, GTX 1050TI

I'd been having troubles with my driver for a while now. Every so often if I had more than a couple of videos loaded at once things would start freezing, crashing, once things stopped messing up, a message would say something along the lines of "Display Driver stopped working but started working again".

It's now gotten to the point where games like TABS and TF2 (not exactly most visually demanding) can't load without crashing or having a crazy graphical errors.

I'd installed GeForce experience a few months ago, but I had issues with it and left everything as it was. Now when I updated to GeForce Game Ready Driver, my screen turned black, and once I restarted my PC, my screen was now in 800x600 (previously 1920x1080) with black birders around the edge of the screen.

When I had this issue a few months ago, I was able to install my old Driver from the internet and I was back to normal, and that's what I've done to remedy the problem this time.

When I looked into the issue further this time, I found that, yes, the Driver **had** installed and my Driver **was** the correct version.

So does anybody know what the issue causing this is? How it can be fixed and updated?

With all the problems some folks are having trying to install this perhaps MS should stop allowing downloads till they fix the problem in RC-2. If this product is released to the public as is it will be a disaster. What is shocking is that the beta installed without a hitch but would not install in many of the same machines. The RC is a case of if it works fix it till it breaks. I would not recommend anyone trying this till it is fixed.

Realizing this is a beta, I 've had some problems. I want to post the ones I can think of at the moment. These are persistant problems which no amout of "googling" has turned up any fixes for. This is on just ONE system. I need one for every day stablity, and havn't run the 3rd system long enough to know if it has problems to.

Problens With Win 7
The following are persistant problems I have running Windows 7 RC 7100. The computer is an HP Laptop G50-133US. This is a fresh install. I had greater stability when I upgraded from Vista SP1, but this install on the same computer is a clean install on a different partition.
1. IE8 is sluggish. Opening a new tab takes longer than it should.
2. Window supdate only works some of the time. It hangs for long periods oftime,or just stalls completly.
3. Install programs, MS and THIRD PARTY hang, start slowly, and take several minutes to complete. Sometimes they never complete.
4. Shutdown is broken on this system. I must use the power button to turn system off. Shutdown is not clean, resulting in being asked if I want to boot into safe mode.
5. Latest Intel Graphics relase makes system unstable. System must recover several times during a session.
6. Notification Icons are flakey. Sometimes they appear, sometimes they do not. No amount to tinkering in Personalzations helps. They tend to be different every fresh boot.
7. Wireless connection uses router to connect to Internet. Wired connection refuses to use router to go on Intern... Read more

A:Not Ready for Prime Time

Hi gjbnh, welcome to the forums.

The issues you are listing relate mainly to the original beta build 7000. The official RC has a lot more stability and a much larger driver databse. I'll try & move down your list (as if you were talking about build 7000)

1, IE8 has been greatly improved since 7000, and from 7068 has been almost flawless (IMO)
2, No issues to date with Windows Update (build 7100+)
3, Programs do take a bit of time to install but the overall time has been reduced dramatically in 7100
4, The sutdown issues have been linked to some antivirus software (in a few cases) so a new AV might be in order. The software compatability is much better with the RC
5, Latest Intel release is still unstable but the latest from the Intel website has no issues when installed in compat. mode for Vista
6, Notification have been improved and work as they should
9, no sleep/hibernate issues on my system
11, Explorer has been tweaked and tuned to run a lot better in 7100+

Hope this helps

Trying to investigate Time to Ready from a standby (also called S3 time).

The question I have is why when you go from a Standby to Ready, the time it takes for the 1st and/or 2nd pass of this measurement (from when the power button is pressed till when the windows taskbar appears) is usually longer on the 1st & 2nd runs compared to the later runs. I know this involves paging data from the disc, which may need to be reread during those first few attempts. I am looking for any good documentation that explains this in detail. Would appreciate any pointers as to where to look.

A:my pc, is starting/and getting/ slower all the time, Is it ready??

Hello, do you know the specs of your machine?

Machines can slow down due to a number of reasons such as old hardware trying to support new software.

System start up crammed full of programs which slows down the start up.

Drivers out of date etc,

3 basic things to start off trying are as follows;

1) Disk cleanup, go to start/programs/accessories/system tools/disk clean up.

Complete the process.

2) Defragment the system, also found in the system tools folder.

3) Shutdown some start up programs,

Click start, then run and type msconfig and press enter. Now click on the start up tab on the window that appears.

Here is a list of programs that are set to load up at the start up. Disable any you don't need to load up.
There just basic things, I can help you more when I know a bit more about your system.

Hi all

Whilst I love W7 and X-64 RTM has exceeded my expectations in stability and performance I'm REALLY disappointed with IE8 -- This DEFINITELY needs some major fixes and SOON.

1) Randomly get IE8 has unexpectedly stopped working -- you get a little popup to ask you if you want to return to your home page or restore your last session

2) Using Vmware server -- IE8 gets its knickers in a twist quite a lot -- the virtual machines are still acessible but you get message 1) as above.

(I think vmware made a bo-bo by deciding on using a Web interface for controlling Virtual Machines with vmware server - not a good idea but that's another issue).

3) security settings getting "lost" or changed randomly when switching from "public Internet" to loacal Intranet.

Other odd quirks when acessing some web sites with certificates -- Browser just seems to hang with some cryptic message in the status bar saying DONE (with a blank screen) or Javascript void(); or other equally cryptic error.

I'm not sure why the EU were ranting against IE -- I'd chuck IE8 in an instant if I could.

I can't for all sorts of reasons so PLEASE don't post use Firefox etc etc. I'm stuck with IE8.

C'mon MS -- IMO you've let done a great OS by a HORRIBLE unfinished implementation of IE8.

I have been running 6801 for a while now and I'm surprised at the number of things it is able to do for me. I'm running everything I want to, including Nero 8. Also, I'm doing this off of an OCZ SSD.

So far, everything runs much faster than Vista, no doubt due in large part to the SSD.

However, because I dual boot, with the MBR on the old Seagate 80GB, I don't think I'm taking full advantage of the SSD yet with regard to boot times. I want to revert back to a single OS using just Win 7 on the SSD.

Also, with regard to 6956, I'm hesitant to install that. I'm not a MS Beta Tester and if 6956 goes south, I can't be assured of a bailout (sorry, just had to do that).

I was thinking of pulling the Vista drive, and trying to repair 6801 (it will give me an NTLDR missing error).

Input here.............

1) It looks like 6801 is pretty stable. Agree?
2) The real thing is coming next year. Agree?
3) Do you think it will be possible to repair 6801 if I kill Vista?

Yahoo released their "upgrade" to their web based email program several months ago and as far as I am concerned it is a huge flop and a miserable failure and the question in my mind is "what were those people thinking?" To add insult to injury this is the first "upgrade" that Yahoo has released in my memory that doesn't have an Undo option so once you "upgrade" to the so-called new & improved Yahoo mail you are stuck with it forever.

This program is a dog with fleas and in saying this I am being unkind to dogs and fleas everywhere. The program is slow, it hangs constantly no matter where I am, what computer I am on, or how I connect so what the heck gives with these guys? Are they even aware of what a huge joke their Mail has become? What are the doing to address the multitude of problems the program is riddled with?

I also have a GMail account which I had to open to get my Android phone and I am so much happier with GMail that if it weren't for the fact that I have over 10 years on emails and business contacts in my Yahoo email account I would say so long suckers in a heartbeat so what gives with the folks at Yahoo? Do they even know they messed up big? Do they even care? Are they doing anything at all about it? I for one would like to know.

I like to set brightness to 50% at all times, but over the time it resets to the full strength (probably because of games), so I have to cut it by half again to 25% and then again to 14%, until it can not be lowered anymore, last time I ended somewhere around 3%.

I tried to set it to full, uninstall GPU drivers, restart, install them again, but it never got fixed.
It is not really a problem, I have it at 18% right now, I am just wondering, what is causing it?

A:Why does brightness increase over the time?

Display control centers usually mess with these settings.

For example AMD catalyst control center or Intel HD control center run services which might reset whatever you do.
making fixed changes there ( In control center ) could solve or at least explain what is going on.

Also Windows updates ( on fresh Windows usually ) reset screen settings.

Hello- All of a sudden, my Windows 7 Pro SP1 x64 is taking longer to load/boot. Once that loads, the avast! and Anti Exploit icon come online about 20 secs later. I ran Process Monitor 'Enable Boot Logging', and looked at the time sequence of items loading and there are some gaps of a significant amount. There are more than what's illustrated in the attached photos. Also, note the errors and warnings in Event Viewer that appear associated.

Over the past few months, we?ve regularly asked our readers what their experiences with Windows 10 have been like. Most of the time, improvements were fairly obvious to spot with each build, but so were areas where the OS needed more work.

With each iteration we?ve seen Microsoft polish, adapt and push new features to Windows 10. Perhaps the most long-winded argument over time has been the one surrounding the icons and UI found in the new operating system.

Users have complained, yelled and sobbed over what they deemed to be horrible design choices in terms of colors, styles and overall look of icons. Luckily, Microsoft finally listened to the collective feedback of the community and decided to change the icon styling, seemingly appeasing most users.

Then there was the new Edge browser, known for a very long time as Project Spartan. In fact the new browser still carries this name even on the latest public preview. But despite that, and despite still missing some important features, Edge has been getting better and better, so much so in fact that Microsoft decided it to use it as the default browser in Windows 10.

Besides setting power options, is there anything one can do to increase laptop battery run time?

I'm sure having sufficient memory will result in fewer hard disk accesses so that should have some effect on battery time.

I have a issue with the dvd spin-down time, that is very short and thus extremely irritating. When I browse some disc, dvd spins-up to full speed to read a file and after few (around 5) seconds without read request, it spins down (stops disc rotation). On next file that I want to browse, it starts to spin-up again, which takes some seconds.  This is very annoying and time-consuming when browsing lots of files, but I was not able to increase the time that disk stays rotating. I tried Nero DriveSpeed, but it was not able to help. My computer runs Win7 x64, so naturally I decided to install Office 2010 64 bit. While I have had no problems with the program itself thus far, MS released it too early as there are very few programs which play nice with it. This is particularly true for Outlook, which really does need to interact with other programs. Specific problems include:
MS MapPoint (yes!) - The Map It feature cannot be hooked to MapPoint
Cardscan - you cannot transfer data with the 64 bit version
QuickBooks - built-in emailing functionality does not work
Linked In social connector
HTC Sync (program for syncing HTC Android phones) - need a goofy work-around
Peak (allows one to see email content without opening - great plug-in!)
Outlook attachment sniffer
So, basically everything I want to do with Outlook, beyond simply reading mail, cannot be done.

So, it is time to remove the 64 bit version (not sure what benefits, if any, I'll be losing) and install the 32 bit version. My question is this: Will a simple uninstall followed by a reinstall work, or is there likely to be left-over files and/or registry keys which will cause problems?

p.s. I assume that it would not be advisable to simply unistall/reinstall just Outlook?

A:Office 2010 x64 - not ready for prime time (Ques: installing 32

The issue is not Office 64 per se, its a great office suite!
The issue is that 64 bit programs have not come along yet to be compatable.
Case in point, ie8 is in 64 bit, however there are some plugins that are still 32 bit that won't run on a 64 bit browser.

Well, I wish I could remember everything I had just written in this box, but it's gone now.

I had a stand alone video editor built. (See specs ) The first operation BSOD'd in about 4 hours, but didn't do it for quite some time after that. Then it started dropping the video, then it started crashing IE on opening, then it started crashing the editing programs. I searched this and other forums and eventually replaced the EVGA GT 650. That corrected the video drop and even the crashes for a while. Then the crashes began in earnest, escalating until the BSOD's joined in the fray. Since windows does not have the program needed to read their own dump files, and all other attempts at correcting failed, I did a "repair install" from the disk. That worked for a while, but the issue progressed in much the same manner as before. I finally did a reformat, which performed nearly identical to the initial operation, with a 4 hour onset of a BSOD, and then nothing. That is until the programs started crashing and the BSOD's appeared again. I then had the guru wipe the drive completely and reformat. The only difference in performance has been that it didn't blue screen after 4 hours. It did however crash IE on start-up, as well as the editing program.

At no time has this machine ever run fast. I have an XP Home machine next to it that would run circles around it in terms of video editing, both machines running Corel Video Studio ProX4. I have since upgraded to ProX6, which is a... Read more

I think this might be worth asking in the Windows installation and activation section as there are a few who are real quick with seeing anything wrong with the activation and that build like I said looks wrong at least I have never seen anything like that before.

I am using Tor Browser Bundle. I visit a website which takes some time to get data and respond back. But Polipo cuts the connection and says Proxy error: 502. I want to increase timeout limit so it may wait for 3 to 4 minutes for the server to respond back.
Any ideas?

I have a cell with a date value of "4:00:00 PM" and I'd like to be able to hit the + key and increment it by 1 hour (so it would become "5:00:00 PM", then "6:00:00 PM", etc.). Is that possible?

P.S. I'm using Excel 2003.

Hello, I recently noticed this strange behavior in my pc. When I restart my computer, cpu usage will stay around 20%, and fluctuate the usage of my processes (system host and firefox being the big hitters) to maintain this general figure. Upon putting my computer to sleep and reawakening, the symptoms are the same, except the usage hovers around 40%. This will continue until usage hovers around 99-100%.

I also just noticed that your TSG SysInfo (included below) says i have windows defender disabled, but I have been under the assumption that it is enabled. It has been since i uninstalled AVG as this was once a heavy hitter in my processes and I thought a cause to some of this.

Before this I didn't think this was a virus, because I've run multiple malware searches including malwarebytes in and outside of safemode but now I'm not so sure.

Also most likely related, my pc takes (literal) hours to shut down.

Please help me!! This issue has been driving me nutzo, having searched up, down, and orthogonal to the internet for a remedy, but to no avail. As a computer science major this has also bruised my ego a bit

Windows 8 has some non-standard (or at least different) way of reporting the status of Windows Defender, and the TSGInfo utility has not been updated to account for this.

All of the attached DMP files are of the IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL (a) bug check.

This indicates that Microsoft Windows or a kernel-mode driver accessed paged memory at DISPATCH_LEVEL or above.

This bug check is issued if paged memory (or invalid memory) is accessed when the IRQL is too high. The error that generates this bug check usually occurs after the installation of a faulty device driver, system service, or BIOS.

About a week ago i turned my pc on to find it took about 10 mins to boot and about 7 mins to log on which was a complete difference from the night before. Once fully loaded It works fine when using smaller programs such as firefox. When trying to run games or larger programs the computers perfromance has drastically decreased, games i use to be able to play, now time 10 mins or more to even get into the main menu.

i have trawled through internet pages through the week trying to find a fix, i have tried multiple virus, malware and trojian checkers with no results, i also have used ccleaner, to fix regesitry issues. i have checked settings of my hard drive and also checked it for any errors with no avail. generally im at a loose end now.

AMD athlon 64 X2 Dual Core 5000+
1920mb ram
ATI Radeon X1200 series
i have AVG and SUPERAntispyware installed and Zonealarm
if you need anything else give me a shout, thanks for your help

A:Sudden increase in boot time and decrease in Performance

Welcome to TSF,

i also have used ccleaner, to fix regesitry issues.

I do not recommend you use the registry cleaner option with CCleaner. Please ignore the instructions about using it.

Here is a tutorial of how it is recommended you use CCleaner.

Deteting files using DiskCleanup is a useful link also.

Hello I have a DELL XPS M170 Laptop. I used to run an ebay business which I would sell INSTANT DELIVERY items. I used Outlook Express to send emails once I had received payment. Outlook Express has an option that it will automatically send emails if it picks up key words. The problem was that my laptop had to be on with Outlook Express running in order to instantly send emails. I used to leave my laptop on for days at a time, not only that but I had it on a bed so there wasnt any airflow. I know im a IDIOT for that and it was the biggest mistake I ever made. My laptop doesnt have any problems like shutting down or anything like that. It actually still runs perfectly except that it gets so hot I could barely touch the bottom of it. After leaving it on for a couple hours i could feel the heat coming through the top. I need your help guys what can I do to fix my very hot laptop. What part do I need to replace (because I know I need to replace something) in order to get my laptop back to its original condition? All the replys from other people about this type of situation always say use air to blow out dust but that is clearly not the case for me. I left my laptop on for days and it wasnt on a flat surface. I basically just need to know what i need to replace in my laptop and I can just purchase the new part and install it myself. I am aware of laptop cooling pads but I just want to fix the problem. I would really appreciate ANY help from anyone who knows which part is getting ho... Read more

Is this okay? I usually shut my laptop off every night before bed. But lately I have been having shutdown and start up problems. Something is causing Windows to hang during shutdown, and therefore I have to hold the power button down for it to turn off.
Doing this at night, then causes Windows not to want to boot up in the morning. It eventually boots up and loads fine after a few attempts. So instead of having to deal with the frustration of doing this every night, is it acceptable to leave it on for a few days at a time?

(And in regards to the problem my laptop is having, My CD-ROM is also broken..so at this time, I'm unable to use the Windows recovery disk :/)

A:Leaving Laptop on for a few days at a time.

It won't hurt it as long as it has enough ventilation. Don't stuff it into a corner or anything. You could also set it to hibernate, which basically turns it off without shutting down Windows. Of you could just put it in standby, which uses more power but basically does the same thing.
