I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

A:Problem with solidworks

Hi there, Daniel                       -

Thank you for writing in to the Lenovo Forum - happy to have you here today.

Go to Startup Programs and see if there is something weird there. Something that doesn?t have a manufacturer or a proper certificate. You can post a screenshot if you find something unusual.

About running a program on NVIDIA GPU. As the other person said,
1) Right click and open NVIDIA Control Panel
2) Go to 3D settings>> Program Settings.
3) Select CAD exe file from the drop down.
4) Set CUDA GPUs value to NVIDIA GPU.
5) Save and Apply and test the application.

Download CPU HWMonitor, install and run it and monitor your GPU, CPU and Disk usage when you are using CAD.

Update us how it goes.

Hi
I am trying to install Solidworks 08 on my laptop which runs vista 64 bit. The solidworks 08 is actually a 32 bit program but I thought I would be able to install it anyway since there is a program files (x86) folder which I assume is for the programs which are 32 bit.
When I run the installation it says that it can't be installed on a 64 bit machine running vista.
Any ways of getting around this problem?
I am sure there is
Thanks

Wonder if the following makes any sense to you.
I am completely ignorant in SolidWorks, but I dug this one up from the net.

Had Problems Installing Solidworks in Vista 64-bit
Excerpt :
Download and extract as usual but before you click the EXE to install, right click on it, goto properties, and set it to XP SP2 compatibility mode. Now it will run. When its getting ready to install, it will ask you if you want to install a new x64 update. Allow it to install the update which will redownload the entire ~2GB file. Now let that install and it will work just fine.

Don't hold me for that. I am just a messenger.

Hi

I'm a student trying to install Solidworks 2008-09 on my pc that we have just put Windows 7 on but it brings up an error message saying I can't install Solidworks with a 64-bit OS.

Is there any way round this? I want to keep Windows 7 running rather than going back to XP if I can help it but can't afford to buy the latest version of Solidworks just to install it, I only bought this version less than a yr ago.

Thanks

I recently upgraded to Windows 7 from Vista. I couldn't access Solidworks after upgrading despite clicking on the icon, I have since deleted all SW files and re-downloaded it.
After downloading SW 2010 I'm unable to install after this message keeps appearing:

"The drive containing the Temp directory (D:\) is low on disk space (271 MB after installations).

Installations may fail with less than 393 MB of free space".

I changed the 'Installation location' to the C drive but still keep getting the same message.

Ideas?

Also, since upgrading, my default save location switched to the D (smaller) drive. After downloading 1GB+ worth of data onto the D drive I manually switched the save location on my browser settings to my C drive. I've tried deleting some of the recent files, which are dated after the upgrade but unable to do for some after needing "Permission", of which I am the administrator.
Which type of files am I able to delete?

A:Can't install Solidworks 2010

Hi Maoist, welcome to Sevenforums.

Is your TEMP or TMP evironment variables set to D:\ somewhere?
This is the location where most installers will extract the files to before installing.
You may need to either need to clear this out to free up some space, or change it to another drive.

Hi there-

Please forgive me if I do this wrong - I've tried to read all the tutorials but may have missed a step. First time posting, so bear with me. :-)

Disclaimers out of the way, I'm getting random BSOD's, seemingly to always to coincide with my usage of Solidworks (ver.2009). Although, to be fair, this is my work computer, and SW is always running, so it may be unrelated.

This is my first foray into debugging BSOD's (only recently started doing IT stuff), so I *think* I know what I'm doing, but we all know how that ends.

I've attached the jcgriff.zip, but I couldn't seem to get my perfmon /report to finish it's 60 second test for an output report (working on getting administrative rights, will update accordingly). I've also attached the two .dbg files I've found to help better understand.

It appears to be an error involving Memory Dumps and ntkernal errors.

Please let me know if I can provide any more info!

Edit: The OS is a non-OEM version of 7 Pro, 64bit. The computer is probably 5 months old, OS installed at time of purchase (home built computer) and is the same install since day 1.

Hi all, I have a Lenovo W540 with K1100M gpu and integrated Intel HD 4600 I've been running solidworks 2014 for over a year with no issues on the W540. At some point after upgrading to Solidworks 2016 however the performance in program droped drastically. I'm unsure if this was tied to a specific update from Lenovo or not I can't remember. It seems to be an optimus driver issue as if I have a drop down menu open or just click and hold in the border area (like i were going to move the windows around on screen) then the performance goes back to silky smooth. I can check this because I have a 3DConnexion mouse. I made a quick video of it: https://youtu.be/ye6C0FcTAbQ Running nVidia inspector shows that when I have a menu open or am holding the window when the gpu is running at 15-16% and does not have any performance issues. However as soon as it's just the model and I'm trying to actually work on the part (i.e. selecting stuff, sketching, zooming , rotating) the GPU is only running at 1-2% and ridiculously slow. It's almost as if the Optimus drivers don't realize they still need to keep that descrete gpu running high so tapers back it's performance.  Stuff I've tried:Completely uninstalling and reinstalling all graphics drivers with the ones from Lenovo (official optimus drivers) as well as the official ones from Solidworks and the latest ones from NVidia. No change.Repairing Solidworks 2016, uninstalling 2016, reinstalling 2016Ensur... Read more

Hi Mike I think NVidia is having some issues with their latest driversat least im having fps issues aswell since i have the latest version of optimus driverand as far as different people say its not fixed with NVidias latest driver I think the best would probably be to use older Drivers for the NVidia GPU however as far as i knowLenovo doesn't offer such (i.e. no old versions of optimus driver). I don't know wether it works when installing an older driver directly from the NVidia homepage Model: Lenovo W540GPU: K2100Integrated: Intel HD 4600

Hello Everyone,

I was just wondering if anyone has come across a weird issue when trying to install SolidWorks 2013 on a Windows7 Ent. x64 machine. After running a clean install of SolidWorks 2013 yesterday I went to launch the applicationa and it just hung on the loading screen at Initializing .NET Framework... This was a clean install and the machine has plently of hardware resources to run a modeling/design application such as SW 2013. Just thought I would pop up and ask here because I went on the Solid works forums and there are other people that have run into this issue but there are no solved replies... I tried checking the event logs, however, there are no erros bc the app never errors out, it just hangs on the initialization part of the load. Please can somene help me!?!?1

I have a Lenovo X61 running Vista SP 2 Business version and I'm trying to install Solidworks 2010 32 bit version. Other specifications for my computer are:
- 2 Gb RAM
- Intel Core 2 Duo CPU [email protected] 1.60GHz

During the installation phase, at around 3%, I get the pop up saying:

"The Installation Manager encountered an error when creating this registry key: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\VSTA\8.0\Packages\{8FF02D1A-C177-4ac8-A62F-88FC6EA65F57}\IgnorableFiles.

You must have administrative permission when running the Installation Manager. Check the permissions for this registry key using a registry editor or consult the system administrator."

Now, in order to try and get around this I have opened my command prompt and have selected to run as administrator. Yet, upon trying to install again, I get the same message.

The Solidwork 2010 32bit version is a torrented download, and I have installed it without issue on my partners computer. I can't think of any other information which could help in you replying to my problem.

I have a new precision 5510 that I ordered with Windows 7.  When it arrived, I decided to upgrade to Windows 10 immediately, before installing any programs.  After the upgrade, I installed Solidworks 2015 SP5.0.
Everything seems to be working great.  However, when I click in the Solidworks modeling window, i get this weird inset window, a smaller version of my modeling window, that briefly pops up and disappears as soon as I pan or zoon in/out.   See the image below for what I am talking about.
I upgrade the video card driver to the latest, SW certified offering.  After the install, the issue was resolved.  But came back after I restarted the machine.  I have the i5 processor and the Nvidia M100M video card if that helps.
Anyone have any ideas how to fix this?  It's really annoying.

I`d say revert back to WIN 7 if you can and see if that gets rid of the issue altogether.

Hello to all Solidworks Cad users who have made the switch over to Windows 7.

Back in January I installed W7 and nearly everything worked quite flawlessly. With the exception of two drivers &/or softwares:

1- Asus Rampage Extreme Supremfx x-fi Creative Sound Blaster driver recognition & creative audio console launcher.

Most importantly of all is...

2- Dassault Solidworks 2007 thru 2009 all service packs 0 thru 5.0 & 3.0 early visibility with 2009, install properly display properly but seem to have some bug.

The bug/issue is that you can not open any SW or other imported CAD files without causing the program to immediately crash.

Also, you can not save any files that you work with in Solidworks that are new either.

To go without the web based client sound processing software from creative is a big deal, as I like most everyone on the planet loves music.

Yet I was content to go on using W7 with it's basic plain sound, as opposed to the multi-faceted processing power of creatives' sound blaster software.

It should be noted that another thread here on Seven Forums has brought some light upon this issue.

Just this thread is titled such to make the issue more known so that Solidworks users as well as microsoft are clearly made aware of the situation.

So, that these issues can become resolved prior to the upcoming W7 RC(which is already being used...just I have not tried it out yet), as well as the Windows 7 retail version release.

A:Windows 7 & All Solidworks 2007-2009 CAD Compatibility Issues

I can say that Windows7 RC 7100 now opens/saves files within the SW application rather well.

And, I am now back to W7 for good.

A:ThinkCentre: upgrade SolidWorks CAD performance (Quadro, design, benchmarks)

Probably more due to the weak, non-workstation graphics card (GT 720 1 GB).

Solidworks 2017 recommends a Quadro M2000 4 GB for a mid-range configuration.  (You are restricted by the SFF case to low-profile and 45w.)   The P1000 is a newer gen low-profile card that provides the same performance as the full height M2000.

For 2019, Solidworks recommends:  NVIDIA Quadro P600 (entry level), P1000/2000 (mid-range) or P4000 (high-end)   And moves from a i7 processor recommendation to "3.3 GHz or higher clock speed", meaning it's more about single core maximum performance than multi-threading performance.

I need some advice about the displays for the x270 ? is the HD display on the x270 an IPS? I didn?t find this info here https://www3.lenovo.com/us/en/laptops/thinkpad/thinkpad-x/ThinkPad-X270/p/20HNCTO1WWENUS0/customize?...! My current x240 with has HD resolution (I can?t tell if it?s IPS or not) model 20ALCTO1WW ? I?m considering replacing it with the x270.I?ve heard good things about the FHD display but I?m concerned that with the FHD panel my font size will be too tiny for my 50+ year old eyes in its native resolution. I?ve heard that scaling the display results in suboptimal rendering/quality of text/fonts. Has anyone looked at both versions of the display? How do they compare? I?ll be using the system for mostly coding/writing and perhaps watching some videos. No Graphics or PS intensive work. Might hook it up to the tv from time to time (not that often) The display on the x240 isn?t the greatest (could be brighter for sure) but it works fine, so I could probably do fine with the same type for the x270 ? or is there something that I ought to consider? Thanks! PS: FWIW, I?m planning to get the i5-7300 model with 16 GB RAM and the 500 GB drive (that I plan to replace with a standard SSD 500 GB or 1TB drive ? hopefully not a problem).

I can't seem to find a power input rating for the X270 I currently have on order. Of course, I know you can use a 65w with one, but it won't improve charge times if the amp input is limited. The store pages don't list the AC adapters output ratings by adapter and the C.S. chat reply was, "I don't have that information available." I know the output on the 45w is [email protected] simply because I already have one for my X240. Anyone with a 65w willing to post the output for me would be greatly appreciated. More appreciated would be anyone that happens to know what the X270's input ratings are so I can determine if charge times could be cut with a 65w. TIA

Thet are all 20V, 3.25 amps

Hi, I bought the think pad notebook in August 2017 . There have been problems with the notebook and I need to bring it the service centre twice. The first time is about the hardisk and this time I just don't know why I cannot turn it on. I have to leave it for two days at the service centre again. I am totally disappointed with Lenovo product as it has brought me much trouble and waste my time! I would try to share my bad experience as many people as possible!

I   replaced the keyboard of my X270, not realising how much more difficult this process was than on an X230. I got everything working, and it powered up fine.  But my X270 wont power on. It recognises the AC adapter. Pushing the emergency powerup pinhole next to the battery doesn't work either.  I suspect that the power button is not working. I opened up the laptop to investigate, and found that a connector around the area of the power button is damaged (pictured).  The wire seems to have detached from the smaller connector.  My questions:Is this connector related to the power button?  Can I find a replacement, or repair with soldering?  Where can I find a map of the motherboard so I can confirm what this part is myself

I am about to replace my X230T by a X270, and have a few questions about X270 specs and about running linux on it.  I am configuring the X270 with a FHD touch display, 16GB RAM, and a 500GB 2.5-inch SATA HDD (not SSD) that I will upgrade. 1. The HDMI external video out specs mention 4k @ 24Hz.  No other resolutions execept 4k nor any other frame rate is specified. If I run external video through HDMI at FHD resolution (1920x1080), I would expect a higher frame refresh rate, at least 75Hz. Is that correct? 2. I currently set battery start/stop charge thresholds on my X230T, to protect long term battery health (I use the acpi_call kernel module for this).  Can battery charging start/stop thresholds be set on the X270? 3. If I run my desktop display on the FHD IPS screen at 1600x900 (instead of 1920x1080 FHD), will it cause any blur issues? 4. I plan to replace the 500GB HDD by a 2TB SATA HDD, and also put a M.2 2242 SSD (32GB) that I own into the WWAN slot. Will I be able to boot from either drive? 5. I run Linux Mint 17.2 (based on Ubuntu 14.04) on my X230T (rock solid, running continuously for more than 2 years). What is a linux distro that is good for X270 (good means stable and supports everything)? Thanks in advance.

Is there a way to tell if my x270 is charging or is fully charged while it's off? The red LED on the top cover stays off when the laptop is off and charging.

Hi all, Just got a new X270 with 8Gb ram and I'm finding the graphics performance to be quite poor when playing World of Warships. Reducing the resolution and in-game graphics helps the FPS a bit, but the game still stutters and lags. Any way to improve the graphics performance? Thanks

I read somewhere that the X270 contains 2 RAM memory slots. However, now that I have the bottom cover off, I only see one slot. Is the other one hidden, or does the X270 only have 1 slot? I want to upgrade to 16 GB of RAM. Thanks

A:X270: How many memory slots?

I see that this has already been answered here:https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/ThinkPad-X-Series-Laptops/Use-of-memory-slots-on-X270/m-p/4030656/highl... 16GB max / 2400MHz DDR4, one DDR4 SO-DIMM socket It has only 1 memory slot. (So beware because there is misleading information in many places stating that this laptop has 2 memory slots.)
