Q: Is it possible to upgrade my brand new Lenovo Ideapad Y700-15ISK with an m.2 SSD?

Hey Everyone,Is it possible to upgrade my brand new Lenovo Ideapad Y700-15ISK (LE80NV00JWMX) with an m.2 SSD? It's the version with 1TB HDD, which is terribly slow.. Sadly, the manual and different online posts I found, didn't give me a decent answer to my question, and i'd rather be sure, before I go and hastly buy something i'll regret. If its possible, i'm open for suggestions of what to upgrade with aswell (120-250gb m.2 only). For now, I was looking at the Kingston SSDNow 120GB M.2 SSD (M.2 2280, SATA 3.0, up to 550/200MB/s read/write, 150 TBW).Hope you guys can help me, as i'm not 100% sure, if it actually supports m.2 SSD, and what version I need? (I believe its 2280, from what I researched so far, but im not sure if its only the ACK version)Best regards,New user ;D

Preferred Solution: Is it possible to upgrade my brand new Lenovo Ideapad Y700-15ISK with an m.2 SSD?

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

I recently bought a M.2 SSD and I want to use it as a cache drive. Intels RST requires AHCI mode, I was under the assumption that I was already in AHCI mode but my inability to create any raid volumes through the disk management or have my drives recognized by the RST app says otherwise. There is no option to change my mode from IDE to AHCI in BIOS due to it being locked. How can I work around this?

A:Lenovo ideapad Y700-15ISK how to put into AHCI

Look in the device manager under IDE ATA/ATAPI Controller, it should say Intel(R) 100 Series/C230 Chipset Family SATA AHCI Controller. For your second part of your question, you need at least 2 disk with unallocated areas to make a RAID array. But, saying that I would never setup a software RAID (ie windows) array and the BIOS doesnt support a hardware RAID

I'm having some lag with my touchpad, about every 3 seconds. Searched around about this problem and did some updates on the driver.

Even did a factory reset, but same problem.

Anyone having similar problem and fixed it?
Read somewhere that it may have something to do with the Realtek HD audio software/driver??

Using external mouse for the most, but would be nice to have the option to use a functional touchpad from time to time.

Have you seen this thread?http://www.tenforums.com/drivers-hardware/14107-windows-10-mouse-lagging.htmlThis guy claims that disabling start at boot of Realtek application called FMAPP.exe solved the problem. A lot of people in this thread say that it solved their issue. Can you check if it solves your problem? Let me know when you find out.

So I'm planning on buying this model: Lenovo Ideapad Y700-15ISK, but the one I'm looking to buy doesn't have an SSD and doesn't specify which ports are still available, only that it has a 1TB HDD. So I wanted to ask: 1. Does it have a free M.2 port? all models of the Y700-15ISK should have them, or am I wrong? 2. Which type of M.2 SSD does it support? M or B+M? I already sent the same questions to the retailer, but I am still waiting for an answer so thought I'd ask here as well.

Hello, it has been 2 days since i bought a lenovo y700 15isk, Model Name 80NV, MTM 80NV00CNRI and im having big problems with fans, they run very loud with no reason. When i start up the windows 10, for about 5 minutes it stays very quiet, but when i start using for example youtube or facebook ore something that does not need very much processing power the fans kick in immediatly, and never low down any more. It is very frustrating for me because i didnt exept a laptop of this kind to have this issues. I have tried to install all the drivers, but nothing helped.I read somewhere that it might be a bios issue but i dont know how to update this bios.My bios version is CDCN25WW, 9/4/15. Can anyone please help me, can somebody tell me is this bios version the latest one or it need to be updated. Can you tell me how to update the bios. Hey guys!! So yeah, I have a Lenovo Ideapad Y700 15ISK laptop. It's a really cool laptop! And it's a monster in gaming! Also, it's new. I had it with me for about 2 months now. I have no negative comments about this laptop. This laptop was my dream laptop. I always take care of it and made sure it is in top condition.  But you see, One day, like 3-4 days ago (sunday), when I got home I turned on my laptop to update my excel table for my expenses, it was bout 90%. After that, I took a nap leaving my laptop still turned on. When I woke up, I saw it was 10% percent. Of course, like any normal person would do, I plugged in the charger. To my suprise, It suddenly turned off by itself right after I plugged in the charger to the wall socket. Thinking that It just got lowbat, it was all right for me. Or so I thought. After that, I noticed that there were no lights that indicate that it is charging in my laptop. Please help!!! It's been 3 or 4 days now and I still can't use it!!! It won't charge, it won't turn on because of the lowbat and I can't fix it.Any ideas?? (i have a background on Electronics Engineering if it matters) i did some analysis. 1. I'm pretty sure that the battery is okay, but of course it's lowbat cause it shutdown at 10%. 2. My charger is perfectly fine. (I tried it on another y700 at a store, also, my laptop does not charge with another y700 charger) 3. I do believe that it is in the hardware because, like I said, the light indicator shou... There isn't a way to manualy turn off the fans. Keep your laptop well ventilated in a cool place, and choose a power plan different than "High Performance". If your laptop gets cool enough, it will stop the fans

Hey everyone. I have a small problem with my Lenovo Y700-15ISK laptop. The laptop is in the 8gb RAM, 960M graphics card and 1tb HDD configuration. The HDD is clearly the bottleneck for me, so I've bought an m.2 SSD that I'd like to install alongside the main HDD. The SSD that I've bought is a Kingston 240GB (SUV500M8) that has SATA III connectivity. I've installed the SSD, but as soon as I start the laptop, it stays stuck at the Lenovo splash screen. Also, when the SSD is installed, I can't enter the bios. As soon as I take it off, the laptop works as normal again. Does that mean that the SSD I've bought is not compatible with this laptop, or am I missing something (like some bios setting)? Thanks in advance for anyone who will (hopefully) reply and help me shed some light on my problem.

I can't seem to find my specs on the Lenovo site for my model, purchased directly from amazon. Model is 80NV0026US. This Lenovo site. http://psref.lenovo.com/Product/IdeaPad_Y700?ch=80NV00Site does not list my model number!???My laptop is 2 months old and is in the Lenovo repair shop (Computer shut off completely in middle of rendering files) I suspect the motherboard got fried. Not happy with Lenovo at all right now, seeing this is a gaming machine I thought it was going to be able to handle heavy computing. Anyways, I am looking to add a m.3 SSD drive when I get the laptop back. Good deals on drives right now. Specifically looking at a Samsung - 850 EVO 500GB (MZ-N5E500BW). I can't figure out what is compatible with my machine multiple threads saying PCIe and some Nvme. No clue why this is so complicated. Can anyone comment on the above drive compatibility?

Hello everybody! I am interested in buying the new Gaming Laptop Lenovo ideapad Y700-15ACZ in the TOP version with FX-8800P and 4GB R9-M385X. As I have seen, first offers come only having the 1TB WD slim hdd. So time to find out which will be the best M.2 SSD to add nearby. For this need to clarify first if the M.2 port is connected to the SATA III of the FX-8800P's internal southbridge only or if it has connection to PCIe lanes. The HMM https://download.lenovo.com/consumer/mobiles_pub/ideapad_y700-15acz_hmm_201508.pdf tells on page 26 there is PCI Express Gen3 and SATA Gen3. For the hdd is written SATA III as note and for the ssd it is NGFF which means the same like you write M.2, so it is unclear. Btw - there are NO DDR4 ports on that model yet. On page 64 you find some oem M.2 ssd models that Lenovo offers to add. Those are SATA3 models like LiteOn CV-1 and Samsung PM871 with keys for "B+M". But this also doesn't mean anything more than might be badder choices. Have a look at the mainboard on page 48. You can see that the M.2 connector has only key M (right side) which means PCIe 3.0 (cpu) + SATA whereas key B (left side) would mean PCIe 2.0 (southbridge) + SATA. That M key port would allow to put in ssd cards like the Samsung SM951MZ-HPV (AHCI) model which might be the fastest using AHCI+PCIe or even the newest model Samsung SSD 950 pro which uses PCIe 3.0+NVMe only. But if there exists only a SATA III connection, the key should be "B only" instea... Read more

I am about to get a Lenovo Ideapad Y700 15" Touchscreen laptop to India from the United States. The M.2 SSD it will be having has a storage capacity of 128GB, which I would like to upgrade to 256GB by swapping (replacing) the existing one with a new M.2 SSD. I have a couple of questions which I hope you would answer as soon as possible. Please note that this storage upgrade will be done in India, and not in the United States, so I would like you to answer accordingly. Q1. Will this void the warranty? And, is any warranty transfer required because of the change of country from US to India?Assuming that the warranty remains after this upgrade, Q2. How can I carry out this process? Obviously, no data migration utility for Windows will work here because the operating system will be on the drive that will be replaced. So Windows and other applications will have to be installed once again, which brings me to..... Q3. How do I ensure I do not lose the pre-installed Lenovo softwares like Dolby's control panel, Stagelight, to name a few? Is it possible to download these from Lenovo's website using any registration key for the laptop? Q4. As Windows 10 Home is pre-installed, will there be any license issue with Windows after the SSD is swapped and the operating system is re-installed? Q5. Lastly, can this be done at a Lenovo Service Center? This laptop is a very expensive investment for me, and I would like to get an elaborate answer for all of th... Read more
