WiFi not working after replacing WiFi card [BCM94352HMB]

Q: WiFi not working after replacing WiFi card [BCM94352HMB]

This is my first time posting so i hope its in the right place. Here it goes:

I have just replaced my WiFi card from (BCM943228HMB) to BCM94352HMB. Before replacing my WiFi card i done the following:

1. Made computer boot in safe mode with networking.

After that i replaced the card, then booted into windows 10 (safe mode with networking) and checked device manager. Everything was OK (See attached picture). I then tried to turn on WiFi, but it does not turn on. Any help is appreciated.

Hahaahahaha don't look at the other tab

Preferred Solution: WiFi not working after replacing WiFi card [BCM94352HMB]

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

A: WiFi not working after replacing WiFi card [BCM94352HMB]

Why are you booting into safe mode? I would connect a network cable to the wired network port, if possible for you. In regular windows, not safe mode, right click on the 802.11ac network controller and uninstall. Right click on the top device manager entry for the computer itself and select scan for new hardware.

I'm having a problem that's been on and off with my.wifi for a while. I have a Yoga 2 Pro and the WiFi card seems to disappear completely and I can't get it back without removing all the batteries and leaving it a while. It's not like it needs a driver update, it totally disappears as if it's not even installed and won't show up in any OS or even under the "rfkill list command". It appears to be completely failing. Thing is I've swapped it out and it seems to be some part of the operation that mounts it that isn't working. I notice that it installs into the power board and not the motherboard. Would swapping this fix it? Does anyone have any ideas?

Any help please. I have HP ENVY m6-1178sa Notebook PC running Windows 10 x64 fitted with an Intel Centrino Wireless-N 2230 single band wifi card. How do I upgrade this to a suitable dual band card. Which model works best? Thanks

A:Replacing wifi card

It has the BIOS whitelist on wireless cards. That means if you put any but the handful of HP branded cards approved for this model into the laptop, it will refuse to boot up with an error message. None of the available cards is a dual band.  That is the official line. Here is a somewhat old thread that suggests an Intel N-6235 will work. I have tried replacing the WiFi WLAN card in my T-410 2516-DCU a couple of times, once getting one with the wrong FRU number, then getting possibly the right one with a bad solder joint (which worked for a while, but slower than the one I wanted to replace). The reason for replacement of the original (A Realtek 11 b/g/n PCI II) is that it is 2.4GHz only and won't go faster then 20-30MHz download with a wireless router that does up to 200MHz w/ other wireless devices). I just replaced my mechanical hard drive with a 500GB SSD and now that the computer flies, and my battery lasts forever, and I'd like to have a faster card now. The one I am looking at is the 633ANHMW, Ultimate N 6300 FRU 60Y3233, which from a previous post I made "should" work (see list below). When I had my old card out, I saw that there was a FRU number stamped on the computer frame inside  under the keyboard about where the "Pause" key is located and is"FRU 68Y5472" (The stamp is imperfect and the "8" could be a "0" making it FRU 60Y5472 but I doubt it.) Does the one I order have to match the stamped-in one perfectly or is one from a list someone provided good enough? The numbers I was given as compatible were: Below is the list of model with FRU number which will be suitable for your system. So keep in mind to purchase a card with Lenovo FRU (source)60Y3203 - Intel® Centrino® Wireless-N 100060Y3241 - Intel Centrino® Wireless-N 100043Y6553 - ThinkPad 11b/g... Read more

Hi so a couple of days ago i replaced my motherboard since my screen wasnt working. Now my screen works and everything on my laptop which is an Acer Aspire 5733 except my wifi. WHats weird is that the wifi available connections show but i am unable to connect to the wifi even with the correct wifi password. The strength signal shows two bars so shouldnt the wifi connect?

A:wifi not working after replacing motherboard

"Two bars" is really pretty meaningless, but it does imply that the signal strength may be too weak for a reliable connection. Did you double check to make sure you reconnected the antenna leads securely (assuming you are using an integrated wireless adapter)?

If you are running Windows you can check signal strength by ...

Please attach a screen shot of the Networks page (don't collapse the Radar, Connection or Signal History) of the Xirrus Wi-Fi Inspector. If you need help with a screen shot see TSG Posting a Screenshot. FWIW to take screen shots with Windows 8 or 7 or Vista I prefer to use the built-in Snipping Tool.

Hi, I simply replaced my stock wifi card in my laptop with an Intel 7260 and this created a Wifi2 in my network connections (Windows 8.1). Not only do I no longer see the original Wifi network but I cannot rename Wifi2 to the original name because its still "taken" by the old network connection. Can anyone help out please?

A:Replacing my wifi card created a Wifi2 - how can i rename?

I use Classic Shell desktop and if I click on the wifi signal indicator in the right tray the Networks side bar appears. Then if I click on View Connection Setting at the top it takes me to a screen where I can choose to manage known networks. From there I can choose to forget a network.

You can also change the name of the network in your router.

As many owners of a Thinkpad S531, I am not very happy with the Wifi performance of the built in Intel Centrino N 2230, especially after upgrading to Windows 10 (x64). What I have done so far: Turned of Bluetooth (Windows Connection center plus deactivating the device in the device managerTurned of the option Computer can disable the device to save energySet maximal performance / energy in the Windows energy settingsIf anybody knows more hints / tipps / tricks to get a better WiFi performance, I would appreciate to read about it. From the WiFi environment, there is a strong AVM Fritz Box router (450Mbps on 2.4 and 1.300Mbps on 5.0) next to an extending repeater (300/867 Mbps). Honestly, none of the device is facing a WiFi connection problem (iPad, iPhone, Apple TV, several Laptops and Wifi enabled devices). Could you, Lenovo support, provide me a list of compatible 2.4GHz/5GHz Wifi cards? If possible, a recommendation for a specific device would be great. Is there any guide for replacing the WiFi card? Thanks in advance.

Hello everybody, I have a thinkpad S540 with an Intel Wireless-N 7260 since 1 year ago. As it happens with another users, sometimes the wifi does not work apropriately (the connection cannot be established), and I have to reboot to fix the problem. I have updated to WIndows 10, installed the lastest Intel Wireless drivers and the issue is not fixed. Besides, I noticed that my laptop has not wifi-ac (5 Ghz) capabilities. Therefore, my questions are the following: 1) Is it possible to replace the internal intel Wireless-N 7260 card for a faster -and more reliable- Wifi-ac card?(I have noticed that the user manual explain how to replace the intel Wireless-N 7260 card, but I assume that it means replacing a damaged card by another equal wireless-n 7260 card) 2) In replacement parts of lenovo S540 I have found the following Wifi card:"PN: 04X6010 2 Intel Wilkins Peak 2 7260 2*2 11ac+BT4.0 HMC Module".Can I replace the internal wireless-n card by this one? Will it fit on my laptop? Must I add an additional antenna for 5 GHz band? How? 3) In internet seems to be another 3rd-party solutions more cheaper than PN 04x6010. Do you recomend some of them realiable for me? 4) If replacing is not feasible due to the lack of an 5 GHz antenna, another solution is to replace my intel wifi-n card by another more realible one (but also wifi-n). Can you recommend to me some realiable and that will fit on my S540 with no problems (neither in ha... Read more

I have recently bought a new pci wifi lan card (Ralink rt61 turbo) and have plugged in and installed drivers. Initially the drivers the company I bought it from told me to install didn't work, but after some googling found the correct drivers and downloaded from Ralinks website. However these didn't work either.

When using the Ralink wireless utility it says that the card is disconnected, however in device manage it is both connect and the correct drivers installed and everything is perfectly fine.

I ignored the wireless utility and hoped that windows 7 would still be able to use the wireless card as past experiences have shown to be true. This case however I get nothing. Windows 7 says that the wireless card is experiencing problems, it doesn't show any of the routers that should be shown.

I have been looking around a lot and there have been several drivers that should have worked and they haven't.

I would have thought that the antenna is broken or the card doesn't work however when I use it with ubuntu instead of windows 7 it works perfectly fine without any hassle, so the card is definitely working.

Any advice that anyone can give on how to resolve this would be very welcome.

Hey guys,

So, what i'm trying to do is create a wifi hotspot using my computer. In other words, turning my computer into a router. I'm wanting to do this so i can use my ipod at home instead of only when i'm around other wifi hotspots.

My computer is running off of a wired router, so that i can play online on my PS3 as well. I was told wifi doesn't work well with Ps3's normally so i just bought a wired router. So, the mainline internet cord is plugged into a wired router and then another line runs into my computer.

For some reason, after i make an adhoc connection, the computer is not sending the required information to the iPod so that it connects to the internet.

I've tried entering in the information into the Static tab in my ipod as well, and still only get Local Connection instead of Local and Internet.

This is what my connection looks like through the router using ipconfig /all:

Hi Cromsy,

Welcome to Vista Forums!

Unfortunately, it isn't as simple as that. You are connected to the router fine with your computer, but that tells us nothing about the ipod because wireless is off (but that's not the whole story either - you need something extra to do what you want). The following article should tell you what you need and how to do it: How to Connect iPod Touch to Windows 7 Ad-hoc Wireless Network. Although it says Windows 7, there are procedures for Vista as well (and the software will work with Vista).

I hope this helps.

Good luck!

Hello All,

I have a laptop with internal WiFi. The internal WiFi is fairly buggy so I wanted use a PCMCIA WiFi card. I've tried 2 different WiFi cards and they both have the same issue. They both can connect but they cannot resolve any host names i.e. DNS is not working. I can ping external IP addresses, I can get to websites by putting a mapping in my hosts file.

Looking at ipconfig, my settings are exactly the same as my internal WiFi. DHCP, DNS, Gateway point to my router at I have 4 other devices which can connect to the router and access the internet using DNS.

I have no firewalls enabled. I've tried rebooting, all sorts of ipconfig commands, restarting the DNS service. I've also tried hardcoding DNS servers in TCP/IP settings. I would tend to believe it was a problem with the WiFi card but I've tried two different cards.

Any insight would be much appreciated - Thanks!

Hi all. My wife and I have the same laptops, Acer 5346.

With the same distance away from the router my card strength has 2 bars and my wife's 5 bars. (5 meters away)

I have swapped the cards around and uninstalled my anti-virus.
I have unchecked the power saver on the cards too.
I have also System restored, all to no avail.

I installed Acrylic Wifi to show the strength. My card ONLY shows my connection, but my wifes shows all the networks around here.

I am stuck now. Any ideas would be great because if I move more than 6 meters from the router I lose connection. Thanks in advance.

Just finished replacing the DC plug on my Y460P. Every time I tried to plug in external power the internal female receptical moved into the case making it impossible to charge. After spending $7 on a complete new plug assembly I ended up having to glue it to the inside of the case to hold it in place when the charger was inserted. Seems a common problem and fix. Anyway, I can once again recharge my battery. For reasons unknown during the disassembly/reassembly my WiFi card stopped working. I've got the standard issue Intel N-1000. Device manager shows it working properly but when I access the adapter through the network connections I find the on-screen slider in the off position. Clicking the slider moves it to on momentarily only to have it quickly return to off.  The position of the external Wifi switch makes no difference. I've tried booting the machine with the card removed. Checking device manager w/o the card shows (as expected) the card missing but no other errors. Reinstalling the card and rebooting causes the card to reappear in device manager but still showing as off in network connections. Disabling and reenabling makes no difference. I can buy a new WiFi card for less than $8 but, since the one I've got is showing as working properly, I'm skeptical that a new one would fix the problem. Anyone run across a problem like this?  Moderator comment: Model added to subject for clarity.

We have had WiFi for about 10 days now, and everything was ok until yesterday. WiFi went down, for some reason. We have 2 desktops PCs connected to router via cables, and 2 smartphones (Google Nexus S running Android 4.0.3 and Nokia N96 running old Symbian, if it matters) that go with without wires. The thing is, when my brother, turns on his PC, WiFi doesn't work for any of us, not on my PC nor on any smartphone, or his PC. When he shuts his PC down, it's all OK again. He did install (automatic) Windows Update.
Why is this all of a sudden happening? And how do we fix it?

Modem model: Speedtouch Thompson 510i
Router model: TP-LINK TL-W340G

If you need any more info, ask And thanks!

recently i was having major computer issues on my desktop, i did a full restore to factory settings and after doing a few windows updates i found that my network adaptor was not finding any signals. it does not show up in the change adaptor settings page or in the device manager page. when i troubleshoot my internet connection it says an ethernet cable is not properly plugged in. I have a desktop computer but it definately has a wireless network card. i used to get windows updates for it and it just stopped working one day. when i look in the BIOS the only option related to booting a network card is B03 D00 Yukon PXE. no matter when i boot it i still dont get wireless signals. when i go into the boot menu and try to boot this device it says " PXE E61: media test failure please check cable" i have opened the tower and the card is securely in its slot. i thought i would workaround by getting a usb wifi card. I installed it and connected to the internet and it alternated between having a connection to the internet and being connected to the network but not the internet. even when it is connected to the internet i cannot reach any web pages. my dropbox desktop files update very slowly (7kb/s). when i am connected with the usb card the network stops working for everyone else in the house. they can no longer reach web pages or continue downloads. please help.

I have replaced a tp-link 801nd access point with a 901nd ap and I have configured it with exactly same settings including ssid. All my hosts connect fine exept from my windows 7 laptop. I have deleted all wifi entries and recreate the connection (only after I restart the ap) but the connection starts to show an X with a message that "the settings stored on the computer do not match the settings of the device" and after a while the connection dies completely and I cannot recreate it (it fails if I try to delete it and reconnect). I have tried the method of deleting them several times and I also deleted all entries with that ssid from registry and I also ran a cclean registry clean.

If I use another ssid it goes well at least for several hours (I havent tried to leave it permanently because I have other devices like cameras that are hard to reconfigure)

What is wrong here? Is it windows or my AP? I started to believe that I will need to format my laptop and reinstall but that would be an insane solution but since all the phones and tablets connect fine I can't imagine anything else.

All articles I find on Google just tell you to delete and recreate the connection but as I described above that doesn't help.

I could upload images if needed when I go back home but if anyone knows the solution please let me know.

Just brought home 3 pack of google wifi pucks. Am hoping the mesh architecture solves coverage in large home.
Problem: my current router has three ports that are being used by; apple tv, Sonos, and something else I can't track down, maybe just an additional Sonos receiver. Google pucks only have two available ports (one for internet from modem (Time Warner Technicolor), 1 open).
Question: do I need a switch in between google router and devices? Or, can I use my old router (Linksys E2000) as a switch? Or, should I just return google wifi and do a "like for like" router switch.

Hi all,

I looked online and I'm still a bit confused whether I should get dual or single band wifi for a laptop that I would like to purchase. Can someone explain to offer a suggestion as to which one is best?

Thank you in advance.

A:dual band wifi card vs single band wifi card

I should get dual or single band wifi for a laptop that I would like to purchaseClick to expand...

do you mean a router
or as part of the laptop spec ?

what router do you have and does it work in dual band simultaneously

the advantage of the 5ghz signal is if you are in a crowded 2.4ghz environment then 5ghz helps avoid interference - also the coverage is wider - although the 5ghz router i have linksys - does not seem to be

if your current router only works in 2.4ghz , then no advantage in the short term

some routers are advertised as dual band - but you have to choose between 2.4 or 5 ghz and so ALL devices will need to support 5ghz

Dear All, I have the HP Pavilion 14-al100nv(Z3D84EA) and i would like to know what wifi modules are compatible with this laptop? Is there any compatibity list for this model, because as I searched the internet not all are supported. The module has to be white listed. Basically I need to change the card in order to supports 5 GHz that the default supports only 2,4 GHz. (If it can support also AC I would like to know too) Thanks in advance
