Win 7 printer HP office jet 8600 problem

Q: Win 7 printer HP office jet 8600 problem

Hope this is the right forum to use.

Guys, Im troubleshooting via teamviewer, my moms Officejet printer. its an HP office Jet 8600 printer. It is hooked up to phone (for fax) and to her router. It is set up to be a network printer, and has both network and wireless setup on it. (I think).

She can print things from her computer on the network printer. But when she goes to SCAN something, she gets an error message, that says something about the printer not hooked up to the network,. and to check it.

Now she lost power to the house in a recent storm and thats when this all started. Can anyone give me a clue as to what to do next? I tried running that HP doctor program, but it did nothing.. Think i need someone here who is familiar with HP network printers..

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Are you using a USB connection from the computer to the printer?

Have you installed the correct Windows XP drivers for the printer and added the printer to Windows XP?

Hi, Well, I did not check until reading your question. I thought it uses internet time and should change time automatically, but NOT. I have to adjust it now and put 1 hour forward (I use AEST). From Printer Control Panel: (a) Touch Setup,(b) Touch Printer Setup,(c) Touch Date and Time,(d) Touch Next (no data change)(e) Move up or down (my case: down) to select time,(f) Touch Done. Regards.

I have a laptop with Windows 7 64bit and Office 2003. I have some printers over network and setted as default the HP LJ 1300n. It working good, but sometimes neither Word, neither Excel don't find any printer. Then I'll close all applications and saw in Task Manager a Word application and I cannot "kill" it... I must log-out and re-enter in Win and then works again... I've installed last drivers for that printer (Universal Driver). Is there any Office/Windows update to fix it?

Thanks in advanced

A:Problem in Office 2003 with printer HP LJ 1300n

i am willing to bet this is not an office issue. Next time this happens leave office open and got to your printers. Open the Printer Properties for the printer you are trying to print to and print a test page. If the page prints then you are correct in assuming it is an Office issue. If the page still does no print then the issue is with the printer driver or the print spooler on your pc.

Greetings, as the topic stated that my main problem, details as below -

I'm in this office with around 25-30 computers using this network printer the "HP laserjet 2300n" and has been fine all the time. Recently we have a new person in the office who came in with his laptop and we hook up his comp to our network (workgroup) as usual. As soon as we completed the the driver installation and all just like how we did on other desktops and laptops, we found it not functioning properly. I have double checked all the network setting, possible firewall / VPN, and reinstalled the driver a couple times. It just don't work. His laptop is running on Win XP pro, we took another laptop using the same OS, did the same thing to that laptop and it prints just fine. Anyone have an idea what is wrong?

Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance

I have an intermittent problem printing with my HP AIO 6250 printer but don't know if it is the printer or Microsoft Office Starter software. Every so often when I try to print a document created with Microsoft Office Starter it will not print and does not show up in to the print queue. However, sometimes I can go to print properties and do a test print but still can not print my document. Or, I can cut and paste in to "notebook " and/or "word pad" and print from that software without a problem. Has anyone experienced this problem with the Windows Office Starter Version and is there a remedy to this frustrating problem? Thanks for any help. Chuck

Man, I really wish I knew enough to be of some real help to you. Anyways, I suggest you post your complete system specs. Include your CPU, motherboard make and model, PSU specifications, your OS version. This will help more knowledgeable members make an informed diagnosis. They won't even hazard a guess if they don't know what your system specs are as that would be plain reckless.

At any rate, I would think the most obvious question to ask is whether your PSU is up to spec and still working as it should. If it's good, then is your GPU properly connected to it? Was device manager able to detect your card before the problem started?

But please post your specs and wait for other members to chime in before you do anything. I'll try to help -- even if it's just to keep your thread up until the more knowledgeable members are able to get to it.

Good luck and stay cool.

Hi guys, i installed Windows 7 few days ago on my notebook, ACER ASPIRE 5920 G

Intel Core 2 Duo processor 2.0 Ghz
2 gb DDR2
Nvidia GeForce 8600 M GT 512 mgb (up to 1028 mgb)

At first, I installed old drivers for Nvidia, they were working OK but they are for Vista, and I noticed in Performance Test that Graphics scored 3.8 which is much lower than I had before...

Than I visited ACER support, found Nvidia 8600 GT drivers for Acer Aspire 5920 g for WINDOWS 7... And installed it... My performance test on graphics now shows 4.8 and gaming graphics is 5.9 BUT...

THere is some kind of blinking on the screen.... some lines appear for a split of a second, every few mins (more less)

Hows possible that win 7 drivers are having problems with Win 7, and Vista drivers are ok with WIN 7????

Also, I reinstalled Vista drivers, there was no blinking or anything similar! ?

Can anyone help me please?
And, how much worse my graphic card will work with Vista drivers on WIN 7? Should I maybe leave it with old drivers?

It doesnt blink when i play a movie or play a game...

Gasp, I know, I know, A problem with a Dell computer/laptop, can you believe it!? Sigh.

Anyway, I discovered the problem this evening (it's 1am in the morning here, Christmas day, but I refuse to rest until I can reach a conclusion on the problem - how sad!). I have a Dell Inspiron 8600 Laptop. I folded the lid down while the laptop was still running, then when I picked the laptop up again and tried to play music, there was no sound. None atall. No sound from Windows Media, no system sounds, nothing. When I plug the headphones in all I get is a fuzzing noise with an occasional feint bleep.

Ive gone through XP's 'troubleshooting' thing: there is no conflicts or anything like that, all the hardware is there. I had no problems with sound prior to this evening.

I know it's vague, but thats pretty much the gist of it. I cant think of any reason why the sound has just...stopped working. My only guess is that the machine has taken a bump and somethings become dislodged internally or something, because I cant find fault with any hardware. But I know comparitively little about computers.

I will ring dell in a few days time as I should imagine their officers will be closed, so until then, Id just like a second opinion if possible.

I turned the laptop off for the night. Then remembered I needed to transfer some files over onto my other PC (music files etc.), then suddenly the sound came back on my laptop!

Tonight I formatted and re-installed XP on my machine. After re-installing everything, and fudging around with the resources CD Dell gave me (I installed what I think is everything; I see nothing relating to video drivers), I noticed something was wrong with my video settings. I only have two resolution settings: 800x600 and 1024x768.

I have tried everything from Windows Update (which on a fresh install only gave me 18 updates, all critical--just security stuff) to getting the latest drivers from NVidia. I believe my card is a mobile FX5200 GO. The card isn't showing up on my device manager at all. I think the problem has to do with my Video Controller, which is showing up as not installed. When I try to install it via the New Hardware Found utility, it says the drivers cannot be found neither on Windows or my resources CD.

Any help is appreciated, I would like to skip having to call Dell.

A:Video Card problem on my Dell Inspiron 8600

Thanks for looking and hopefully helping

I have a Dell Inspiron 8600 laptop, with a NVIDIA GeForce FX5650 128mb Graphics Card, and 15.4" SXVGA Screen, running XP Pro. The laptop is 6 yrs. old and about a month ago it started doing weird things, graphically.

The first symptoms were little worms on the screen, while in Windows, moving around in patches, then it progressed to stripes during startup, with intermittent colored stripes, during bios startup, and during login screen, and while running windows. Sometimes it just jumbles the colors and make it really pixilated or fuzzy and freezes the screen.

SO, I figured it was probably the Video Card, (at least that is the cheapest thing to replace) so I bought one on eBay, a GeForce 5200 64mb "tested" card, and it gave me more problems and never got beyond startup. I contacted the seller, he sent a new one (no questions asked) and this one let me get into Windows, but started the same thing again. I contacted him and he quickly refunded my money.

SO, in an attempt to nail down the culprit I plugged the S-Video cable in to my TV, and sure enough the same thing that was on the screen, the colors, the patterns, etc. was on the TV. Now, I am confused as to whether it is the graphics card or the lcd, but common sense tells me it is the graphics card and I would be safe to buy another on eBay (from someone other than last seller).

Does anyone agree with my logic? Or disagree? Or have another way or solution? Thanks ... Read more

I have the GeForce 8600 GT, and I have been noticing a problem with my graphics-heavy games.

Every ten minutes or so, the frame rate will slow down to something pitiful like 2fps, and I'll have to stop playing - a tough task in online games. It usually lasts for anywhere from five to ten minutes, and will then, with just as little warning, resume at full speed.

I have only been able to pin this on the graphics card, as I don't see it happening in any other instances than graphics heavy games. If it were consistent to a certain game, all the all the time, or if the effects were fixed by moderating graphics options, I would not be confused.

The thing is that it is not consistent. It happens on multiple games, and it happens on older games that my computer should run flawlessly, that lesser cards and rigs have run perfectly. I have completely undercut the game's performance settings to see if less work on the card will equal more performance, but there has been no change. It still continues to sporadically crater, and I am completely bewildered as to why or how to fix this problem. The game will work fine half the time, then work terribly the other half. It seems to me that if it were a problem with the games being too labour intensive for the card, it would be consistently occurring from the moment the game is loaded, not intermittent and without being context-sensitive to graphics-heavy situations such as smoke, etc.

Office - you may want to give MS a call. If you provide them with the cracked CD they might be willing to replace it for a small shipping fee.

I am confused about the rest of your problems though. Do you actually have more than one COM port? Some computers don't.

What kind of printer is the problem with? Do you have just one printer port, and it is connected to that? No parallel scanner or ZIP drive or anything connected too?

I had this All-in-one K-60 printer/scanner/fax/copier for the past 6 years or so and has been working fine with Windows-XP ( earlier it worked with Windows-2000 OS too ) until a couple of weeks ago. Suddenly one day the computer crashed and I had to rebuild it from scratch with Win-XP OS and other programs. I have a CD supplied by HP that says the software compatible for Windows-XP also that I was using all along. Now when I install the software it does not give any error but it also does not install any printer programs. It just installs readme.txt file. Tried uninstall and install many times but no success. Tried to download the program from HP-download site but the same issue. I also downloaded the latest JAVA programs that used to be a problem before but no success. Any suggestions to make this work is appreciated. I do not have money to buy another printer.

Can anyone tell me why OO3 will not find my default printer XP Pro, but work fine on another computer with XP Home:

I went to print a document in writer and got an error message that there is no printer. I clicked the error message and got a screen to select printer, but it was grayed out. I am able to print out from Microsquish Word (Which I am trying to eliminate.)

I did a repair installation and still no printer in OO3. (Yes, it is the default printer)

I performed a complete reinstall. I removed everything (registry, files...).

What is interesting is that the printer icon on the toolbar shows "print directly to printer (HP5550)", but when I click on it or use the 'print' from the Format dropdown, I get an error message that it cannot find the default printer.

Hello Pedink, welcome to the Seven Forums.

Here's something you could try:

Disconnect your printer from computer
Uninstall all HP OfficeJet drivers and software you have installed on your Win7 machine
Open Start > Devices and Printers
Click Add a printer

Click Add a local printer

Choose Use an existing port (LPT1), click Next

Choose HP on the left pane and HP Officejet J4500 series on the right pane

Click Next and follow the instructions. Connect the printer to computer only when setup asks you to do so, not before
It should work now.

Hey Guys,

So I need to decide on which printer to buy for the office. It needs to be wireless as everyone is going to print wirelessly. It needs Scanner etc, pretty much a all in one. I was thinking this:

It's a Canon Color imageCLASS MF8280Cw Color Laser - Fax / copier / printer / Scanner if you guys can't see the link. I'm just looking for something that won't break the bank but will be reliable. Also if you are wondering color will be needed and that the printer doesn't crap out on me when printing large colorful powerpoint and PDF's files over wireless if needed.

Thank you for your help!

A:Solved: Which Office Printer to Buy (Suggestions)

If you're going to get the printer you linked to in an office situation, you better be using it for light duty work. A printer that costs $250 isn't going to have the most robust internals. You need to look at what the printer is rated for in terms of duty cycles and monthly page volume. It really all depends on how much usage you are going to put through a printer.

I was given a Dell multi-function color laser for free...brand new in the box to be a temporary/permanent replacement to the Xerox Phaser 8560MFP/D which just died on me. Even with it being free, I couldn't stand dealing with the printer. I ended up breaking down and buying the current generation Xerox replacement to my broken 8560....the ColorQube 8700/X. Even though the printer cost me quite a bit, it has been worth every penny with the useability and probably the reliability over the Dell printer. The Dell printer weighed all of maybe 15 to 20 pounds. The Xerox tips the scales at around 100+ pounds.

You also have to look at the consumeables. As with inkjet printers, the cheap color lasers don't reveal the actual cost of ownership of the printer as you'll find the color toner to many times cost more than the cost of the actual printer.

Go to Run--Services.msc and stop the Print Spooler service--reboot. Restart the Print Spooler service. Some types of printers do not uninstall fully, especially the drivers, so you may want to check and see if there is a newer version of the printer driver availlable.

Ive got a PC running Windows XP Home SP2 and Office 2000 and a HP Deskjet 3650 running on a different PC on the network.

When in Word 2000 and trying to do some letters and things, most of the time, Word crashes when doing the simplest of things (opening a new document, copying and pasting etc).

Having done some research on the internet, it seems that its a problem with a HP Deskjet Driver - "hpzpm309.dll" that is causing Office to crash.

Its getting on my nerves now as i can never do what i want to do because Office keeps crashing.

Does anybody know how to resolve this issue? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

This happens across all Office apps, and just happened out of the blue, one day, I have no idea why!

I noticed the Office Assistant wasn't coming up, and click on it, then got these problems.

When I click yes to the error, it does try to reinstall, but in the end gives me another message:

The Office Assistant could not be started. Please repair the Assistant by running Office 2000 setup and selecting "Repair Office 2000".

I then try this to no avail. Also I have looked on Microsoft support and have overwritten my oleaut32.dll file, then reinstalled Office as suggested, no improvement. Also tried to set the Office Assistant to run from my computer instead of CD-ROM as shown in another Microsoft support artice, but it was already set to run from my computer, so Office Assistant still doesn't work!!!

Any help would be most appreciated.

Thanks guys, love this forum.

Several months ago, I lost the ability to print documents from MS Word 2003. I didn't think much about it and used Copy>Past to Word Pad to print documents. Today I needed to print from MS Word. I needed a new printer (old one - 1999 HP) so I bought one today and installed it. The printer problems persisted after installing the new printer (I didn't really expect it to get better ;)).

So, I uninstalled MS Office 2003 and tried to reinstall it. When I run the .exe to install it from the CD, I get a notification box saying "Access is denied" and lists C:\windows\system32\msiexec.exe as the file. When the notification box is closed, that's the end of that - no installation processes follow.

I did a quick search on msiexec.exe and see it's a standard installer program attached to MS. It shows it was created in 2004 and last modified today. Access does not look to be restricted. I am logged on as the Admin for this system.

Any ideas on how I can reinstall my MS Office 2003?

Thanks in advance.

EDIT: Oh, it's an XP system running well otherwise.

EDIT2: I kind of figured out a bit more. The original CD drive has been giving my trouble for a long time. I was trying to install it from a second CD drive - that's where the error comes up. I've cleaned the original CD drive and managed to get it to run, but just. NOW the installation process moves forward, but it hits a fatal error at the end of the installation process.... Read more

I have a small home office with a laptop, desktop and two printers. Both computers run Windows XP. I have a wireless network with a 2wire router. The laptop has a built in wireless card and the desktop uses a linksys wireless adapter. I have no problem getting the internet on either computer. I would just like to be able to share some folders and the printers from the desktop with the laptop. I can't seem to make the two computers see each other. What steps do I need to take? Thanks!

I'm trying to figure out a problem in one of our offices. Three Dell's running XP Pro are using a networked HP MF2727nf printer. Opening files in Office 2007 from a Desktop shortcut take 30seconds to over a minute to open. Once Office is opened, other files open normally. Also, if Office is opened first and the files are opened from the File menu, they open normally.

The printer was uninstalled and the Office files open immediately. Once the printer was re-installed, the slow file problem returned. In other words, when there was no HP printer there was no problem.

Print drivers have been updated as well as the firmware for the HP. The printer has a static IP address.

How did you reinstall Office if you didn't have the CD for it?
The key should have been included with the documentation when you bought your PC. Unfortunately if it's not included in the documentation there is little likelyhood that you will be able to recover it now you have wiped everything. Have you contacted Dell for support?

I've been using Office 2007 for a few months now and just noticed that the office button or orb has changed colors from red, green, blue, and yellow to black and grey. I can't figure how or why it changed nor how to get it back. it may not be a real problem but I would like to revert to to the original.

I found someone who had found a solution to this problem in this link > FixedThere solution was this:Problem: It was caused by Windows defaulting to the SMS Mirror Driverinstead of the ATI driver for the video card. The SMS Mirror Driver isinstalled with the SMS Agent, it handles video acceleration for the SMSRemote Control Agent.Resolution: This can be fixed by opening Device Manager and removing ordisabling the SMS Mirror driver. Restarting the system then allows Windows toload using the correct video card driver.Edit Below:A. Try changing the the color choices inOffice File Button=>Word Option=>Popularthen restart Office.B. Control Panel Display: Color settings should be set higher than '256'.C. Accessibility: Display High Contrast should be unchecked.D. Toggle the Windows Theme and color schemes in Windows XPto XP Blue from a custom/ 'classic' setting.E. System: Hardware=>Device Manager:Display Driver - If SMS Remote Control Agent is presentdisable it then restart your PC.(If this one worked, did you have installed or use anysort of Remote 'help desk' type of software?)F. Check the website for the manufacturer of yourgraphics card to look for an updated driver.

I have a home network that consists of the following...

Linksys WRT54G wireless router, 2 desktop pcs ("main computer", "family computer") and 1 laptop pc. The "main computer" is an HP running Windows MCE 2005. The "family computer" is a dinosaur P3 933MHz running Windows 98SE. There is a HP 7350 photosmart printer installed on the "family computer", which is shared from the "main computer"

File and printer sharing had been working fine, until recently.

I believe the problem started when I installed Microsoft Office 2003 Student and Teacher edition. This software is installed on the laptop and on the "main computer". The install went fine on both the laptop and "main computer". The registration, updates, etc. all went fine. The problem occurs whenever I try to open Microsoft Office on the "main computer" whenever the "family computer", which has the networked printer, is off. Office will open, but whenever I try to type in a new document, or open a previous document, I get an error report. I'm not even trying to print a document, just open or edit. The error report did mention something about a HP driver and is included below. Again, as long as the "family computer" is on, MS Office works fine.

Here is some information from Microsoft about the error...

Hi folks.

I'm sure this will be an easy one for you,

I have just moved into a new office and I have free internet, but I would like to set-up my network multi function printer in the same office.

How can I do it?

I don't have a router in my office I just have the socket (presumably from the building owners cabinet).

Adding another network card
I tried removing the internet cable from my PC and setting up the printer by creating a TCP port but it didn't work. (I used to do this with my HP 1050tn).

I tried adding a router but that didn't work either.

Any help appreciated.

my XP MCE (2002) uses office 2000 and I have a 3 month old hp Deskjet D1460 printer which doesn't print or preview powerpoint presentations correctly - (eg a cropped saved image in powerpoint previews and prints out in its uncropped state). As of now (sept 2008) HP are no longer offering support for windows XP MCE so they tell me, and have said they aren't going to help as it isn't the printer that's at fault but they say it's the operating system - the MCE part -WE also have access to HP6800 printer and that prints out fine from my system but is no longer available to buy.

I've googled for hours and days - there seems to be no cheapish inkjet printer that says it is compatible with XP MCE + Office 2000 available.

I do not know what to do - is there a XP MCE compatible printer out there that will not conflict - or how easy / hard is it to get rid of the MCE part of my operating system?

we have a FX ApeosPort-II C4300 fuji printer. we recently updated to Office 2007 from Office 2003.
When we were using Office 2003, i was able to specify paper size for the document i wanted to print in printer's properties, however, since updated to Office 2007 i can't. Actually, i can specify the paper size by choosing custom print then edit the size i want to print but as soon as i click okay button and reopen printer properties i can see paper size did not change. I have already changed the paper size in page set up by the way.
I checked the our printer's properties and it shows under security tab for everyone can "print" section clicked. But "Managed Printer" not clicked. Only power users and administrators have that privilege.
so my question is: the reason i can't specify paper size in the printer properties because i am not a power user and don't have administrator privilege?

Off the top of my head, I'd be inclined to think you simply need to update your printer driver. Have you done so lately?
