I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

A: Increase Upload speed?

Question instead of answer; what speed are you getting, and what is the rated upload speed as stated by your ISP?

Ok, long story short: My download speed is fantastic (~47mbps), but once again, my ISP (Comcast), has found some royal way to mess up the entire deal. Basically whenever I try to upload for some reason, sometimes the upload will fail and the few times I CAN get an upload going, the speed is abysmal (we're talking 1.3mbps or less). I have tested against multiple devices on my network rebooted the modem/router (it's Comcast's all-in-one thing that includes a router). I tested against a computer plugged by wire directly to it. Can someone give me some general tips other than "Call them and yell at them" (again)? When I say "can't get upload" I mean like going on speedtest.net, watching it show a 18ms ping, download speed, then hang on upload to sit for all eternity and returning no upload metric. My connection to game servers is equally as stunted at this point.

A:ISP Upload Speed is nonexistent, making upload connections doesn't always happen

If 192.168.100.1 (in your browser's address bar) brings up some modem status check the signal levels (see attached for mine). The Upstream Power should be 30 to 55 dBmV. If you can't get this data I think that your ISP can check it remotely. For more info along this train of thought see What kind of signal levels do I want on my cable modem?.

Hi All

I hope someone out there can help me with this problem.

I'm horribly disappointed lol. My family was having issues with our old Cable modem. We were with comcast. We were unable to logon with cable and even comcast couldn't solve the issue. So my family decided to switch with AT&T DSL Lite. Now I thought DSL was just as fast as cable but I'm disappointed. It loads pages at an ok speed but it gets a little aggravating with pages that has a lot to load up. Especially on myspace.. it takes at least a minute or two to load everything on someone's page. The downloads are extremely slow for my liking. With cable I was able to download & upload at least 175/kb/sec... Now with DSL it's like maybe 50/kb/sec and sometimes 80/kb/sec if I'm lucky. I already asked my parents if we could somehow switch back with cable and they declined. So I'm stuck with this.. Is there anything or anyway I could possibly speed things up... Is it normal for DSL to be that slow with uploading and downloading things?

Hi.

I have this very annoying problem and I'm really out of hopes. I don't know what to do anymore. I'll make a summary of the problem and will be as concise as possible

So I have this Dell Inspiron N5010 laptop with a broadband connection (direct cable, no router) and 3 weeks ago I reinstalled my Windows. Everything went well until 2 weeks ago when the internet speed went down, dial-up like. Pages won't load, and if they do they load just partially. I called my ISP and they said they had no problem. I couldn't find any solution so I thought maybe, some sort of virus or spyware is doing this so I formated the whole hard-disk and did a clean install of Windows.

Unfortunatelly nothing changed, the download speed is the same. Here is a speedtest.net evaluation:

http://www.speedtest.net/result/2276053238.png

Drivers are up to date, no windows firewall, no antivirus and no windows update. The ISP support guy told me to deactivate IPv4 and IPv6 from Local Area Connection, but nothing changed. I did a TCP/IP reset which raised my down speed to almost 1 Mb, but after a few minutes it went back to "dial-up". With the down speed being the same, Speedtest sometimes shows me upload speed in between 50-70 Mb which is unbelievable (I will make a ss next time I see this).

And the very weird thing is that I have another netbook (pretty weak config, Intel Atom CPU, 2 GB RAM) and with the same cable it has normal speed (the kind of speed I had on this Dell too). An... Read more

Hi guys. I hope you can help on this issue I've been having with my internet connection, I don't know what to do...

I resently formatted my harddrive because my internet all of a sudden started being very slow but after the format it's still the same issue. Now I've tried plugging the connection line into my laptop and there there's no problem.

I am gettin' a slower download than upload...

I have a 10mb download/1 upload speed LAN connection. I ran a speed test on the same connection and on my stationary it shows like 250 kbs download and like 750 kbs upload, while on my laptop it shows like 8 Mbs download and 750 kbs upload... so what's the problem?

So far I've found out that it has nothing to do with the internet connection line or my NIC (I tried a brand new one and it was the same issue), it's not spyware or malware, it's not fragmented and under internet connections it says that I'm connected on a 100 Mb network card and there are no problems with any of the devices?

However I can see that if I open the job list, the download connection is very unstable going from up to 750 kb for a breif moment then falls to a halt at 0 kb... and moreover it says that I'm not using any percent of the network?

I'm on windows 7 and haven't had any problems before this, the rest of the system works just fine, but not the internet. If I try and download something it won't get higher than like 50 kb and then may... Read more

I'll also ping test my computer with no packet loss, a ping around 20 and jitter around 1-3%. It all looks great and dandy (Pics below). Except, after about 15 to 20 minutes, my download speeds will dropoff to about 20-50 kb/s and my ping test goes through the roof to about 70-90 with jitter near 70%... Not good at all.

Now, I have the suspicion this is being caused by my internal wifi adapter (the Realtek), because when I use another external usb adapter (TP Link TL-WN722N) my speeds never fluctuate and I have no problem, ever.

It doesn't have to be HD level quality, but somewhere close to it. I'd like to know what programs I would need to use to counter youtube's video compression, and how I would go about it, thanks to anyone who can reply.

A:How do you increase video quality when you upload on Youtube?

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/YouTube#Standard_and_high_quality_videos

It looks like youtube will detect what the best type of quality should be used depending your video, so I would presume if you uploaded a higher quality video it would use the high quality version (but the viewer will be the one to decide whether to view the high quality or lower quality version)

of course even the "high quality" version is no where close to HD and I am pretty sure there is no way to get around this

"Our general philosophy is to make sure that as many people as possible can access YouTube and that videos start quickly and play smoothly. That's one reason why you don't see us racing to call this "Super Duper YouTube HD," because most people don't want to wait a long time for videos to play."

My wife has a Dell Inspiron 1545 laptop running Windows 7 Professional, 64 Bit, 3.00 GB Memory with Intel 2.16 GHz.
Our ISP provider installed a new Router about four months ago and tested up and down speeds before they left.
Downloads were in the high 20s Mbps and uploads in the 5s Mbps.
I began to notice a couple of weeks ago that Internet access with either IE or Chrome seemed kind of slow. I ran speedof.me and the best download speed is 12 Mbps but usually around 7 Mbps but the upload speeds are still around 5 Mbps.
I have an iPhone, a Kindle Fire and a Toshiba laptop and have run speedof.me on them, (right next to the Dell laptop) and the speeds on all three are fine.
We use Norton Security and I ran the Power Eraser with nothing found. Ran Malware Bytes and nothing of concern showed up. Updated the wifi card driver from Dell as well as the driver for the Marvell Yukon Internet controller.
No Joy. I would appreciate any suggestions you might have for me to try to speed her laptop.
I thank you in advance.

I regularly upload videos online and since the last few days they've been timing out or stalling. Blip.tv is telling me a 65 MB file is going to take 4 hours to upload. Yeah right. Other sites like that are about the same, or just time out and give me errors - such as Youtube. I recently got that "We're Sorry..." page on Google, so I'm thinking something is up and there may be something on my computer sending crap out.

Here's my speedtest.net results:

I've scanned the computer with ad-aware, spybot search and destroy, panda anti-virus, avg, malware bytes, super anti spyware - the works, and I'm not getting anything. Everything says the computer is clean. This just doesn't seem right to me however.

If it's any help - I used a different computer with the same modem and was able to upload fine.

Recently my desktop has experienced very slow download speeds (~0.11 Mbps), however the upload speed appears to be in line (~2.0Mbps). These numbers are taken from Comcast's speed test (my ISP). It is obviously a problem with my PC because everything else on the network (PS3, Laptop) have great signals with no problems. I just recently reverted the Desktop back to its factory state, and everything was working fine for a couple of months.

The desktop in question uses Vista 32-bit and the Belkin Basic USB Wireless Adapter.

Hi everyone,
At first I noticed a slow down with my ISP (Verizon FIOS) from 15mb/s to 6-7mb/s, but the upload speed is unaffected. So, I called my ISP they told me could be an issue with the Windows that I am using.
Then I called MS regarding the network issue, however they told me that my license has expired is not under warranty for technical support. Here I am asking for some help.

Some of the thing that the ISP done was conducting some test:
Buffer size:261360 bytes
Receive size: 66608 bytes
Their ISP network technician told me that the Receive size was too low and causing problem to the download speed, but the upload speed is still good.

So, anyone who have any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

I already tried safe mode with networking so i assume it's not about viruses or my antivirus. Here's from a tcp/ip analyzer

TCP options string = 020405840103030101010402
MTU = 1452
MTU is not fully optimized for broadband. Consider increasing your MTU to 1500 for better throughput. If you are using a router, it could be limiting your MTU regardless of Registry settings.
MSS = 1412
MSS is not optimized for broadband. Consider increasing your MTU value.
Default TCP Receive Window (RWIN) = 65536
RWIN Scaling (RFC1323) = 1 bits (scale factor: 2^1=2)
Unscaled TCP Receive Window = 32768

RWIN is not fully optimized (even though it is a comparatively large number). The unscaled RWIN value is lower than it should be. Also, RWIN being close to and above 65535 does not justify the header overhead of enabling TCP 1323 Options. You might want to use one of the recommended RWIN values below.

For optimum performance, consider changing RWIN to a multiple of MSS.
Other RWIN values that might work well with your current MTU/MSS:
64952 (up to 2 Mbit lines, depending on latency. MSS * 46)
129904 (1-5 Mbit lines, depending on latency. MSS * 46 * 2)
259808 (2-14 Mbit lines, depending on latency. MSS * 46 * 2^2)
519616 (8-30 Mbit lines, depending on latency. MSS * 46 * 2^3)
1039232 (25-60 Mbit lines depending on latency. MSS * 46 * 2^4)

So, I've always kind of had this issue (not something really new). However, after testing my wife's PC to see if it were a router issue or something, I realized I'm in a bad spot. My speed test had my D/L at like .6 Mbps and my U/L at like 1.14. Both spiked during the test around 2.0. Comparing to my wife's PC when I did the test was 14.2Mbps D/L and 3.22 Mbps U/L. Her PC has the hard line into it, while mine is directly connected to the router. The provider goes through her PC, etc.

Is there some tests I could do to find out if it's 1.) My PC 2.) My Router or 3.) Just some settings.

Thank you.

Most people talk about there CPU fans being to loud and that they wanna know how to decrease their speed because theyd rather have peace and quiet and have there CPU take some heat. Well i have speedfan and my cpu fan rpm sits around 3400rpm, ive seen it get into the 5000rpm ranges. How would i go about having full control of my cpu fan? I wanna have it running at maximum speed all the time, i wanna bring my cpu temps below 40C at idle.

A:How to increase CPU Fan Speed

It depends on the type of fan you have.

Some of them alter their own speed according to the temperature, some of them have their speed adjusted by the motherboard.

How many wires run into your fan? If it's three wires then there is no way to control its speed. If it's four wires then connecting the speed control wire to +5V should do the trick.

is it possible to increase the fsb on an Abit KT7-Raid motherboard
from 100 to 133 by flashing the prom ??

A:fsb speed increase ?

Your best bet is to check out overclocking.com (or overclock.com- cant remember)- they have a big list of hw and what can be done with it. Remember to make sure that it won't affect your pci stuff, as some cards etc do not like a bus increase.

how can we increase the speed of my laptop hav 2GB RAM and 250GB HD,intel core 2 duo, window xp sp-2.

A:increase the speed of pc

Install SP3 for security reasons. Malware slows your computer down.

Use MyDefrag.

Uninstall as much unnecessary software as you have.

Increase your RAM if possible.

Uninstall anything with the word "toolbar" in it, and get as many of the update.exe disabled.

Hi all.

I recently upgraded my ram up to 16gb of 1600mhz (4gb x 4) . However on my pc and bios I see that it is only running at 1333 mhz. I've seen some videos on how to speed it up and it says to enable XMP but for some reason it is greyed out and I can't enable it. My specs are

- gigabyte Z87X-UD3H

-Corsair vengeance 1600 RAM

-i7-4770K

hi guys, is there a way to increase wifi speed to make i go fast like a cable connection?

A:is there a way to increase wifi speed?

Hi there

1)Your Router needs to support the new Wireless-N standard up to 600 mbs from the presemt 54 mbs (WIRELESS-G).

2) Your Wireless card need to support it too.

Wireless-N routers are a bit more expensive -- and the problem is that if you are using a Laptop it's not easy to change the wireless chip so you'll have to use an external USB Wireless-N card -- also not cheap.

I don't think there will be too many PUBLIC WI FI places that will have wireless -n system for ages yet so you are stuck with wireless g @ 54 MBS max.

If you are on a shared wireless connection then the number of users will also slow it down -- especially if you have a load of users such as in a Hotel downloading Music / streaming audio into their hotel rooms etc.

Here's a wiki on Wireless-n (do further research as always with wiki).

I am paying for a 1 something or other mb, maybe? I can never remember. My question is when I download, at the most I am getting 200k. Is that as good as it can get or is there something I need to do?

A:How Do You Increase Broadband Speed?

I verywell could be. The download speed is determined by several factors. The most restrictive is how much bandwidth will the remote server let you have to download the software. I have 6Mbps download speed. MajorGeeks and Download.com seldom allow me more than 250Kbps and it is not uncommon to be as low as 150Kbps. With that said I have downloaded from Source.Forge.com at over 2.5Mbps on occassion. Have you tried testing your download speed? Try testing your speed at the following link.http://performance.toast.net/

If you check out the below image of windows default Internet connection status dialer. You see that Sent Compression is 67% but Receiving compression is only 2%. What's the meaning of this and we can improve or increase the receiving compression. In my system Windows XP SP1, IE6 is installed. And i already increase the port speed of my modem (Com3) to 115200 BPS.

A:How to increase receiving speed.

You apparently do more receiving than downloading. Almost everything that you are "sending" is an acknowledgement that you received the packet. These acknowledgements can be compressed much more than the data itself, therefore you will only get a 2%-3% receive compression, but a much higher send compression.

Few days ago I was testing my computer at: (http://www.pcpitstop.com/ )and everything was fine except my download speed which was only 18 kbs(dial-up internet, 56modem). I'd checked for adware, spyware, viruses etc. and found nothing so at the and I've disabled Spyware blaster and done my test again. This time download speed was 41 kbs which is quite reasonable. I repeated this action several times(unable and disable Spyware blaster) just to make sure and every time when S.B. was disabled my download speed was at least two times higher than before. So if anyone have similar problem try this, you don't have anything to loose!

A:Try to increase your download speed!

thats normal, also people using software like zonealarm ect will also notice slowdown speed as well.

Alright, I may be totally wrong on this but I figured it was worth asking about just incase...

I have dialup, first of all, meaning im connected at 53kps usually.

However, when I download things, like via download managers or torrents or something, it is very rare for me to get a better speed than 5kps.

So my question is, is there a way to allocate/tweak my bandwith or something to let my download managers/torrent programs use more and thus download faster than 5kps?

Any suggestions are welcome, even if they make only slight improvements (on dialup even 1~2kps diffrence is pretty important =/)

Thanks~

A:Way to increase download speed?

Not quite sure what you mean by "5 kps", but I will assume you mean 5 kB/s

That is actually a very good result on dial-up, and equates to a sustained stransfer of 40 - 50 kb/s. ("b" = bits, "B" = Bytes).

Many people on dial-up would die for those results....

5 kB/s is 5 x 8 x (error correction overheads) giving 40 or 50 kb/s.

You must have a good modem and good copper to the telephone exchange....I know of nothing that can magically push more data through the phone line, you are already well up to the physical limit possible.

May be time to get a new system.
