I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hello!I write here with a problem that I have since the day before yesterday. When my Laptop is on and the charger is plugged in, the battery won't charge, giving the notification "plugged in, not charging". Laptop works like the charger wasn't plugged - energy drains from battery.I suppose that is a software problem, because when laptop is turned off or hibernated it charges normally.Formating didn't help at all.Microsoft support told me to recalibrate battery - didn't work.Lenovo support told me to try another charger in service - I will try if nothing else works.Maybe someone had the problem like that and solved it without going to service, which I want to keep as a last resort solution. Thanks in advance!

Pretty much what it says in the title.  I have recently been needing to use my Notebook for extended periods of time, and I had found that, despite the laptop reconizing that the charging cord is in, it fails to charge while in use and only charges when the computer is hibernating or when then laptop shuts down. I've taken a look at the battery settings, including Conservation Mode which seems to cause this type of problem, but I've had little to no luck fixing to problem. I would really appreciate if someone could give me some advice on how to fix the issue, as it is getting in the way of my work having to use it for only an hour, then have it charge for an hour.

Hi Team, I bought a new lenovo ideapad Y700 laptop last month, for the last two weeks i have been trying to charge my laptop but it just wouldnt go beyond 29%. I did a good amount of homework searching for energy management software and checking for power configurations options in bios. But none have helped. I even tried to do express charge but no luck. I am posting here to seek assistance to solve it on my own. Regards,Manoj.

I just got my Lenovo ideapad Y700 everything was working fine until updating Lenovo settings and windows 10. The battery now only charges to 98% and continues to say charging. Tried to open up Lenovo settings to see if I could change the battery settings to fix the problem. Now the settings won't stay open it just closes 5-30 seconds after I open it. I've tried uninstalling it and reinstalling, still has the problem. Any thoughts?

Hello, I noticed this afternoon that the battery indicator in the system tray was at less than full and the status message reads "95% - Plugged in, not charging." This was not the case previously, and I haven't changed any battery or system settings that would affect this. I've only owned the computer for about a month or two and I'm concerned that there may be a problem with the battery. I looked up this issue online and attempted to uninstall and reinstall the driver that affects battery control in System Settings, but there was no change to this behaviour. Is there a way to test if the battery is damaged? What other problems could I be having that would produce this effect?

So I bought this laptop 3 days ago. It seems like it has a charging problem. It sometimes charges when I let the laptop in sleep mode or close the lid. I sometimes get a full charge but then, when I'm using it, it just stops charging for no reason. To "force charge" it, I discovered that if I first unplug the charger from the laptop itself, then disconnect the cable from the power brick, plug it back in the laptop and connect the brick back again, it seems to charge for around 4 more minutes. I tried updateing the BIOS with the support from the official Lenovo support site (this one) but it does not work. I heard about the removing the battery and pressing the power button but I can't remove the battery.  The power brick and charger are original and seem to work fine. Should I try buying another charger? Please resond to this as I'm desperate. Thanks much !

Hi Mina,

Welcome to Lenovo Community!

1)  Shut down the computer.
2)  With the battery in (but AC adapter removed), attempt to turn on the computer by holding down the power button for 30 sec. This should not turn on the computer.
3)  Remove the battery.
4)  Again, attempt to turn on the computer (AC adapter not plugged in) by holding down the power button for 30 sec.  This should not turn on the computer either.
5)  Replace battery, plug in the AC adapter, and turn on the computer.  The battery should begin charging.

I hope the above information helps.

Regards,
Shashi

Hi AhmedMagdyy,Have checked in Lenovo Settings app if Conservation Mode is enabled. Conversation mode is under the battery icon of the app. If enabled, kindly disable the feature. Conservation mode helps extend the battery life of the tablet/laptop by limiting the max charge the battery can hold. Hope this helps.Cheers,

Ok so a bit over a week ago I bought my ideapad 2 in 1 and about two-three days ago I noticed the battery was at 95 %. I keep it plugged in but it's not charging. Right now it's at 94% but that's probably because I moved it out of my room where I usually keep it to work in the dining room for a bit.Does anyone know how to fix it without removing the battery because I think I have to unscrew the back to get to it and I really would rather not do that or is it normal for the battery to be at a 94-95% charge. I really am hoping I don't have to bring it in to Best Buy because I just bought this and I can't financially afford to get it fixed right now

So this is the same problem of "plugged in, not charging" expect I have tried every possible solutions there is, my ideapad is barely a month old and it's already having issues. My conservation mode is turned off and there is no rreason to why my battery shouldn't be charging, I even tried this old idea of uninstalling the battery driver and letting Windows re detect it but that didn't work either, is there something that I missed and should recheck of fix or is my last option is returning the whole laptop for a fix?

I have an IdeaPad 500.  The A/C charger is "plugged in" and the icon says it is "charging" but there is no charge to the battery, which is now at 53% (it was 55% yesterday).   I have gone to the forum and done what they suggest (e.g. turned off the Conservation Mode).  Unlike most questions on the forum, my system says "charging" rather than "not charging".  And because it is an IdeaPad, I cannot remove the battery (at least not without opening up the case).  I am a bit worried this is a hardware/battery failure -- but I hope this forum might give me a software fix

Thanks in advance

Hello,  I have a two year old Ideapad Flex 14 which is having some battery issues. Specifically, the battery light is flashing red, and when I plug in my laptop, the status says ?plugged in, not charging.? When plugged in, it stays at roughly the same battery level, though it has been gradually losing battery despite being plugged in over the last few days (this has been going on for five days or so now).  It is at 5% battery now, and I?m not sure what to do to make it charge. I?ve tried taking out the battery and putting it back multiple times, but am not really sure what else to try ? I?m out of the country until December, so I haven?t been able to find a repair place to get it fixed yet...  Any suggestions how to fix this?? Annie

Had this laptop for about a year now and it has worked wonderfully. But the past few weeks it has randomly stopped charging for about a second or 2 then it starts charging again. Except just now, it stopped charging altogether. There are a few times here and there where it would charge for a fraction of a second. Think the problem is the laptop itself or the charger?

A:Lenovo y700 not charging

There is actually no real way to determine whether it's the charger or the laptop right off the bat, we can only speculate and make assumptions that are MOST LIKELY true.BUY A NEW CHARGER. If your laptop does charge, most likely it's your charger. EDIT: Also, let me mention that if your charger will charge for a second then stop, and it keeps doing that or you keep plugging it in and out while it's doing that, you can very quickly damage your battery. It happened to me.

Hello, I have a 3 yr old Ideapad Z510(that came with Win8)which worked absolutely fine until recently. If I plug in the charger when the laptop is on, it abruptly turns off and would never boot again until I remove the charger. However, this is not how it behaves every time. There are some rare instances where I could still operate the machine with charger plugged in.  When turned off, battery is charging and also goes to full 100%. When turned on(battery mode) it does not drain rapidly - I could still get a fairly decent stand up time. So I am assuming the battery is good. I don't see any thermal issues either. Things I tried:-------------- > Tried with a different charger - no help.> Updated the firmware - no help.> Update the entire driver pack - no help.> Applied windows patches, reinstalled and also upgraded windows to Win 10 - no help.> Reseated the battery and associated cables - no help.  I am not sure if there is anything that I could do to at least diagonize the problem before I give it to the service station. Any pointers on this is much appreciated   Thanks much in advance.

I have been using my lenovo Y50-70 since the past 1 year to play games like witcher 3 and Fallout 4. Recently, when I started playing Metal Gear Solid 5 and Battlefield 1, I have been facing some issues with the battery. I usually keep the charger plugged in while gaming, Since the laptop needs to be plugged in for better performance.  But recently, my laptop automatically stops charging randomly in between eventhough it is connected and the power button and the charging led start blinking.  As soon as i unplug the charger and put it back on, it starts charging again. But after sometime again stops charging and lights start blinking. I've noticed that this happens faster when I'm playing a game vs. when I'm doing something else. I'm scared about the damage it would do to the battery. Please suggest something. Thank you !

I've got an old G40-70 running Windows 10. I think the power area was damaged and now when the laptop is plugged in, it says "plugged in not charging" and the power slowly drains away. Then when the laptop is turned off, it will charge back up to 100%. Then when I turn the laptop on, it will say "plugged in, not charging" and the power will drain out. I've tried taking the battery out but the laptop won't start (when plugged in). I've bought a new power adapter/charger so I think its something to do with the laptop. If I bought a new power jack, would it need to be soldered in? Thanks.

Hello. First of all, thank you for taking the time to view my post and potentially help me out. So the problem is that my laptop will not start. I was using my laptop here one day and it was working fine, but it was unable to charge for some reason and ended up shutting down so I went to bed. The next morning I tried turning it on, but it was dead. I have tried a different charger as my sister also has a lenovo laptop, but this did not work either. I would think if the battery was the problem, the laptop should still be working with the charger in? I have tried calling support line several times with no answer, the warranty has gone out and I forgot where i bought the laptop sadly. Really frustrated over here, and any help is highly appreciated!

I decided to invest in a new laptop as my other one had fallen on the ground, and lately for the past two month's all I've been having with it was troubles. Ther first problem I had was with the external microphone I used (Blue Yeti) It wouldn't detect or something and eventually made my speakers and microphone stop working all together. With no clue on how to fix it I ended up factory resetting my product. Everything's been fine with this problem, but if you have a fix to it if it arrises again then that'd be helpful.

Just yesterday I had a problem with my laptop where I was using it and the screen suddenly went black, I restarted it and the LENOVO loading screen came up only to have it stuck on the screen with a loading symbol and my curser. I contacted a live agent who told me to factory reset my laptop which brings me onto what happens when I do that below;

I have also had a problem where It would update from windows 8.1 to windows 10 & "Windows Explorer" would continue to crash and refresh every second thus making the laptop un-useable in this state unless I open a program through "Task Manager". Due to this problem I had to factory reset my laptop about five times as I cannot resolve it and it continues to arrise if I set a background to my laptop - I have tried everything, from updating drivers to much more and have yet to find a fix t... My Lenovo T470 Laptop is one month old. Yesterday, I was traveling and plugged it into a wall adapter on a train. I used the charger that was shipped with the laptop. I was given an error message stating that this power adapter was not powerful enough, and to please use the charger that was shipped with the laptop. Now, any time I plug in, I am told that I am plugged in but not charging. When I returned from traveling, I connected the laptop to my dock, which charged at first, but now won't charge. I've updated the system, installed Lenovo Vantage, restarted several times, and tried it in a variety of outlets.  Anyone have any input?

A:Lenovo T470 Plugged In Not Charging

Hi,

I know you have a T470 BUT please check the below article.  I also know you were on a train.  However if you turned on "airplane" mode or the system "auto" detected airplane mode the system may not provide enough power to charge laptop and power dock.  So check in Vantage if you have airplane mode on.

Also check this 2nd post.  I know it talks about P70.  In addition it mentions Lenovo Settings.  The settings on the T470 are in Lenovo Vantage.

Hi acejavier10 ,

Welcome to the Community Forums.

Initially , in such issue first to try is remove microsoft acpi-compliant control method battery .

Try uninstalling Energy Management and shutdown the pc,  unplug the ac charger and remove the battery .
Without battery and charger , press down the power button for 15 seconds to drain remaining power.

Place back the battery and charger and use the Novo button (Item 2 page 9 left side) to turn on pc.
Novo screen should appear offering BIOS set up . F9 to load defaults , F10 to save and exit.

Without the Energy manager , restart the pc and check .
You may reinstall it back from the support site under power management.

You can review the power checkout step guide provided here (page21-22) .

Update us how things go.

What charging threshold do you have set in either Lenovo companion or Lenovo Vantage app?  For me I have it set at 70% and 80%.  In other words my battery wont charge until it falls below 70% and it will stop at 80%.  So if its at 75% for example it will show "plugged in, not charging"
