Upgrading computer and need to move Outlook and email folders to new computer

Q: Upgrading computer and need to move Outlook and email folders to new computer

I am replacing my mobo, os (win7 pro 64bit), adding ram and a ssd. I want to put all of the programs on the ssd with the os.
How do I move all of Outlook with emails and the folders to the new ssd? I am hoping that all of the emails and folders and contacts will remain intact.

I should clarify that I will still be using the old HD for storage on the same computer.

Preferred Solution: Upgrading computer and need to move Outlook and email folders to new computer

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hey everyone,
I am having an issue with Outlook 2007 on a Windows Vista Business 64-bit OS. I am switching computers in my office and currently have someone else's Outlook email and profile setup on my new machine and my profile on the old one. Long story short, I'm looking to remove my profile from my old one and initialize it one my new one. How is this accomplished? (Also, the email account I'm interested in syncing with outlook is provided by a third party so I have no idea about this stuff)

Howdy all!

I'm wondering if there is any way to migrate my email account settings from one system to another. I currently have 15 email accounts setup in Outlook, and really don't want to manually add them on to the new system.

Unfortunately, Outlook 2002 is not as simple as Outlook 2000 to do this, as I have found no way to do it.

Any help??

Thanx!

How do I move from Outlook Express on an old XP computer to Outlook on a new
Vista computer? I'd like to move emails, accounts, and address book.
Instructions I've found so far seem to assume I'll have a copy of OE on the
new computer, which I don't.

A:how to move from Outlook Express on one computer to Outlook on another?

HI,
you can export your data from OE to Outlook by using CSV option when you export.
You can save the export to a floppy, or burn it to CD, then import it using Outlook.
When you export the data in OE, select the data you want, select CSV (comma seperated values), this saves it as a data format and can be read by both OE ans Outlook, select the path to save to (eg: floppy) and import.
I have done this on my own XP to Vista, hope it helps.

I just put in a new hard drive and installed the latest version of Office 2007. I kept the data and archive files from Outlook 2003 so I could import them into Outlook 2007 and get back to business. However, that did not happen. It was able to read and bring up most of the data, but I am missing some folders which are critical.

The critical folders are folders that were created manually. They were used to store email messages that came in that were important. They were simply dragged from the Inbox and put into that folder. There were also folders within that folder. I'm not sure if these folders and subfolders were in the Inbox or not. They may not have been.

The way I imported it was by going to TOOLS>ACCOUNT SETTINGS>DATA FILES tab>and pointed to the old PST file.

I also pointed to the archive.pst file as well, but later went to FILE>ARCHIVE and pointed to the old archive.pst file in there. Bot ways did not reveal the folders that are needed.

Is Outlook 2007 not able to read all data from Outlook 2003 pst files, or is there a fix for this?

Please advise.

A:Move from Outlook 2003 to Outlook 2007 not successful; not reading certain folders

I purchased a new Notebook with Office 2007 installed and copied over my Outlook 2000 pst file. I also had manually created folders for filing important emails. Mine were sub folders within the Inbox folder. Everything copied over, but I could not see the manual folders at first until I double clicked the Inbox folder in the side panel and then they spilled out. I would look for them in that panel and double click anything there starting with Inbox, Sent etc. Also try doing a search for any subject or address of an email you may have saved.

When copying over the pst file I think everything is copied. Appears you did not just copy contacts for example, but the complete pst file. I think the folders are there as Sub Folders, just hidden within one of the main folders such as Inbox.

Hello, thank you so much for you support. My question, I am using Outlook 2007, I have 3 email profiles associated with this, just to clarify what I mean by email profiles I have 3 different email addresses for Outlook. Currently I open Outlook and it asks which profile do you want to use so I click on the one I want. What I would like to do is to move some of my email folders (these folders have email associated with different people) and some misc emails into my new email profile as they are pertinent to this email profile, vs. the email account that I have had for a while that I used for everything; is this possible?

I cannot simply copy and paste as I Outlook only allows me to open one profile at a time.

Please let me know how to accomplish this.

Thank you very much and have a great rest of your day or evening!

I would like to transfer these emails from the storage folder under my emails into a file on my C drive, just in case there is a problem and I lose them all. There are too many to print up, although I have printed what I feel are the more important email.

I've tried to highlight and drag the whole folder into the C drive file, but it doesnt work. Nor does trying to individually drag each email down into the open C drive file. There doesnt appear to be any way I can copy any or all of the emails then paste them into the file. Cant understand it, as I used to be able to do this quite easily.

I'm using Windows 7, with Live Mail, and use Firefox (not Internet Explorer).

Can anyone please help. Thanks.

I am in desperate need of help. I have Windows 7 on my C: drive with a dual boot to Windows 10 Beta on my D: drive. I turned on my computer one morning and Windows 7 wouldn't boot saying that it was corrupted. I tried all the repair tools that Windows offers and the only thing I could do is boot into Safe Mode. I am ready to upgrade to Windows 10 and delete the beta version but I need to get my data off of the Windows 7 load. I can access the files on the C: drive with Windows 7 and I tried following instructions for moving my Windows Live Mail to a storage device. It will not let me move it saying that I need Administrator permission. I've tried several things that I have found to get Administrator permission but I still get that message. Does anybody have any suggestions? I really don't want to lose the mail that I had on the Windows 7 drive and I am at a loss as to how to take control of my own computer that I paid for and am the only user of. Microsoft and their stupid permissions make me so mad when they restrict what the owner of a computer can do with that computer. Any suggestions would greatly appreciated. I'll try anything.

OK -- so I get this email from my company telling me that they want everybody to get rid of their emails older than 6 months and they will be discontinuing the pst archive folders. But I want to save all my old emails. I'm not sure what the best way to do that is, or, how to do it. I can I move the pst with all my emails (from the latest autoarchive) to my external HD? Will the format and attachments be there with this move. Or perhaps I can backup in some way like a dvd. Thanks for any help you can provide!

A:Need to move/save Outlook pst file and folders

Sure, you can copy (recommended) or even move your PST files to any device you want to put it on. I would strongly recommend an external hard drive. The reason for this is that if you need to access the archive later on, you don't really want to have to keep putting in a CD or DVD to access it.

Now, my questions are….

Where are you archives currently stored? Are they on a server drive or are they stored locally on your desktop computer?

The reason I am asking is that normally administrators will not “put pressure” on users to remove older emails if they are not stored directly in Exchange or the archives are not stored on a server drive. I.e. they are trying to free up either space or prevent Exchange boxes from getting too large.

You may also want to check with your admins to see if it is okay to copy the archives. If your archives are stored on a server drive, you may want to ask the admins if it is okay to setup auto-archiving to go to your local PC or to your external hard disk drive instead of the server drive. Of course, then you would be responsible for backing up and securing the archives and not the admins.

Thanks!

Shane

i wanted to copy some folders from outlook to another machine and its a pain. but in case anyone else run into this problem here are some instructions.

- if your moving everything its easier, you can just copy the pst file. ms has instructions at http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/o...tructure-to-another-computer-HA001116603.aspx

- if you just want to copy some folders then its more of a pain, you can export each folder to a pst one by one and then import it on the other machine, like in http://www.techsupportforum.com/mic...transfer-outlook-files-computer-computer.html

- theres a pandali tool mentioned in that link which makes it quicker. you can grab a bunch of folders at once. theres more info at http://pandali.com/move_outlook_folders.html

- if you want to also copy over signatures and stuff theres some outlook backup tool addin but i havent tried it.

hope that helps.

Running Win98 and OE 5.5 where I had a number of folders set up in the inbox. Lots of emails in the folders. Activated OE one day and couldnt see any emails in the inbox. none. A tech was able to export the inbox to another file, where I can see the names of the file folders. When we re-imported to OE the emails in the inbox reappeared minus the folders and their contents. In other words emails not in folders were retrieved. Is there any way to get the rest back?

A:Outlook express email folders

If you still have the "exported" copy of Inbox.dbx and can see the sub foldeds in it, you may still have some hope. Get this free program to try and salvage them DBXTract
If you are able to retreive them, and even if you are not. Take this as a warning NOT to store ANYTHING in any of the dynamic folders in OE (Inbox,Sent Items, etc) even if you have sub folder under them..they are (as you now know) VERY succeptable to corruption; especially if you use the "Compact in background" options..most OE "experts" will tell you to disable this function and do manual folder maintiance. I'll tell you the same thing although I don't consider myself an "expert''

Hi All,

I have just upgraded to Win 8 and installed office 2010. I've got outlook up and running but most of the previous emails were in folders. On the new system I don't have these emails or folders.

Any ideas how I would port them over? The old outlook is still intact on another hardrive.

Any help would be great

A:Outlook how to port over folders of email?

If you have the location of the old files, just choose File > Open > Outlook Data File and select it. Optionally, you can copy it or move it to the same location as the new one (May need to be renamed). < If the other hard drive is in the same system. > You can Map a network Drive and Move or Copy the file from it if on another.

I'm still using my Windows XP Pro computer but it doesn't have a lot of space left on the hard drive. When I bought this computer it only had 6GB of space. I only have 1GB of space left on the hard drive. My old computer has 18GB left on the hard drive. I edit videos a lot and I also want to play some PC games. Could I just take out the old hard drive and hook it up in my Windows XP computer? Do you think that I should just buy an external hard drive?

I just bought a new Compaq computer because my old one finally died (power supply). New PC works like a charm. So, I had 2 HDDs in my old PC, one with OS, one with music, pics, movies, etc. I wanted to put the second HDD into my new PC. I did so, set it as slave and rebooted. It showed in BIOS, shows up in disk management without drive letter, but won't show up in My Computer. Also, it wont let me change or add drive letter in disk management. I just want to get my stuff off this old drive. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Outlook .pst folders transfer

? I'm trying to copy my Outlook email personal folders, structure as well as content, from my Lenovo T410s laptop(Windows XP, Office 2007) to a Dell desktop(Windows 7, Office 2010).
? I have two separate sets of files, one labelled Archives and the other labelled Personal Folders, both of which have multiple subfolders.
? I've now copied both(using a memory stick), to the Dell desktop.
? I tried the Import and Export feature and also tried the Open Data File feature
? The Archive folder gets copied with all the sub-folders, but I can only access those if the memory stick is inserted into a USB port, even though the Archive folder is saved on the Dell desktop
? When I do the same thing with the Personal Folders, a ?Merge? folder opens but it doesn?t have any content
? I do see the default Personal Folders on the left side of the Outlook screen
What should I do?
Thanks.

Did you use the Import/Export function in Outlook 2007?
