Lenovo Z50-70: Windows OS can't update from 1803 to 1809

Q: Lenovo Z50-70: Windows OS can't update from 1803 to 1809

Why i can't upgrade my Windows 10? I know the answer to my question. Drivers. Why have you stopped to support this laptop from 2016? Why don't you release updates? I need to upgrade to the new version of Windows. Maybe there are some ways.Error code: 0x80240034.When the update is installed, at the last stage the update is canceled and the old version is rolled back.

I recommend downloading and running DAP. It can help sort out any driver and firmware related issues on your system

It's worked out well for many of us in the past.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloaddap.org. (This link will open the download page of DAP so you can save a copy to your computer.)

I'm having some troubles trying to update from version 1803 to 1809. Each time I do so it gets to the blue screen "Working on Updates" at around 70% then I get the lighter blue screen telling me "Your PC ran into a problem and needs to restart" and (at least one of the screens) quotes PAGE FAULT. This restart screen loops about 3 times before it uninstalls the update back to 1803.

Then when I run the check for updates tool it says none are available. Winver tells me I still have 1803.

I've tried the following methods
- Uninstalling the developer mode options. This made the "check for updates" app actually find the 1809 update but I still get the above problem when it installs.
- Going to https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows10 on the "update now" option.
- going to the same site above and downloading the tool that creates installation media and running the iso it creates.

Every time I run into the same problem. When I did the last option I got the following error apon finally logging in to Windows

"We Couldn't install Windows 10.
0XC1900101 - 0x40017
The installation failed in the SECOND_BOOT phase with an error during BOOT operation"

Hello all! I am having some problems specifically with internet browsing of all things after updating Windows 10 pro to version 1809 that just came out. And I?m only having this issue on the Lenovo T560. I have two other laptops in the house. One an HP spectre x360 with windows 10 pro version 1809 with Firefox 65 and Edge. Both Firefox and Edge on it blazing fast. Another HP crap laptop that was like $275 new in 2012 that was my grandmothers, running windows 7 pro, with Firefox 65, and IE with an AMD 1.6Ghz and 3GB of RAM and just as fast on the web as the Lenovo T560 that I have with 12GB of RAM with a new Crucial 250GB SSD with 188GB of free space. I updated all drivers, bios, etc. Looked for settings. I?m at a loss. I open up Firefox and it?s just a white screen for like 10 seconds then the page loads SLOW, and opening a blank tab takes a little bit like it?s frozen for a second and then pops. I?ve run in safe mode. Completely uninstalled. Installed an older version. But the slowness is happening on Microsoft Edge too. When I downloaded files like drivers it was telling me that windows defender scanner couldn?t detect the file and asked if I wanted to run anyway. I?ve never seen that before so I updated settings there and it still happened. I don?t know if something was triggered because it?s a refurbished business laptop that I purchased for home use for my grandmother. But with what?s in it, a 6th generation i5-6200u, 12GB RAM, new 250GB SSD. Just sur... Read more

I noticed this morning that attempts to start Lenovo Vantage would return the following error:"Vantage has Encountered a ProblemPlease restart your computer and try again. If the problem continues, click the Install button below to install or update the Lenovo System Interface Driver." The problem persisted through a reboot and installation of the Lenovo System Interface Driver (currently running version 1.1.17.1, and am uncertain what the previous version was). The last major change was the installation of Windows 10 64-bit 1809 feature update. There had been a number of minor changes covering Windows security updates and driver updates triggered by Vantage itself since I last used Vantage. Has anyone faced this problema and know the solution? Would appreciate any advice.Happy Holidays BTW.

Hello, I am trying to update toe Windows version 1803, and have encountered inumerable errors, no matter what I seem to do. Speaking with a Microsoft tech. via the live chat, he said that Lenovo has not released the drivers necessary to run version 1803, there I continue to get errors. I feel this is not the case, because I am pretty sure others have updated to 1803 that also have the Yoga 720. Any advice? Thank you.

Hello,

I bought my new desktop in late 2018, it has been working perfectly but this past month or so, I have been plagued with a persistent annoyance which I have been trying to fix via googling the issue but the various fixes have made no perceivable difference.

The short of it is, my computer wants to update, it tells me every hour to restart as it has pending updates. However, during restart, it gets to 100% configuring updates, restarts, says it may restart several times, restarts again and says something along the lines of "returning to your previous configuration"

here is a screenshot of my update history

Any suggestions on what i can try before i reinstall windows?

Thanks in advance!

I have a Lenovo M82 SFF that won't Resume from Sleep. I was having significant issues trying to perform the feature upgrade from 1803 to 1809 via Windows Update. Apparently, the Update database was somehow corrupted and was blocking the process. I had to download the ISO file from the Windows Support website and then install the upgrade via that means. Interesting, I did not have to burn a DVD to perform the operation. The upgrade from ISO process is built-in to the Windows 10 system which I found to be awesome. I also fixed my Intel Wireless LAN driver that could not be upgraded as well, again via a manual driver process.

Hope this helps.

As far as I can gather this update is out and only being blocked if you have iCloud or F5 VPN.

I do have Kaspersky Secure Connection. I am not sure if I have iCloud installed or not. Searching from windows explorer or the start menu for "iCloud" doesn't return anything.

Given the litany of issues with the original 1809 roll-out, I'd recommend not bothering with this update for the time being because there are still issues with the updated release. I'm not sure how Microsoft plan to address all these, but the drive mapping problem is particularly irksome from a business perspective.

Hello everybody! I hope all is well wherever you are!

I am having an issue with the latest, major windows 10 update.

When I originally tried to download the thing I lost WiFi connection very briefly. (I know school boy error using WiFi while updating)

Now when I try to update it stops at 80% and comes up with the message 'We cant install updates because other updates are in progress.' Before this it came up with ERROR 0xc1900107.

No other updates are running (as far as I can tell) I also ran system file checker which came back fine.

I finally downloaded the update assistant but it doesn't work that way either.

Any help would be really appreciated!

I have multiple Lenovo laptops in the family. I recently noticed a Z580 had not had any OS updates since December 2017. So I fiddled with it some (it has been running Windows 10 for a couple of years without issue) and upgraded to Win10 1803. This was a huge mistake as I was unaware that the Z580 has hardware components not compatible with Win 10... even though it's been running Win10 for years. After the upgrade to 1803, the PC boots to a blue screenn where it wants me to choose the system language, etc. IE, it has totally lost the operating system and it can't find anything to roll back to in recovery. I was perfectly happy with Win 8.1 and only upgraded to Win10 figuring it was an inevitable upgrade. I plan to replace the HDD with a SSD and believe I can get the data from the HDD. But I"m stumped as to what OS I should put back on the Z580, since it came preinstalled. Is the Windows key embedded in the ROM? I don't have a Windows key for this 5 year old laptop and don't recall seeing one when we bought it. Any suggestions?
