I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hi, This problem can be caused by a touchpad setting called 'Pinch Zoom' - you can disable this as follows. Open windows Control Panel and in the top right, next to View by: select 'Large Icons'. From the new layout, select the Synaptics entry. Remove the checkmark next to Pinch Zoom ( see the image below ), then Click Apply and Ok to save the change. Regards, DP-K

My brand-new P50 laptop was behaving as though the left trackpad button was sticking. When single-tapping the left trackpad button, it would behave as though the "click n' drag" setting was enabled: the trackpad would override the keyboard, preventing me from typing until either the trackpad was moved again or the button was clicked again.  I work for Microsoft and have always used Lenovo products without ever having encountered an issue before, so I was more than a little surprised. I called Lenovo support, and they were less than helpful. In the end, they suggested that the trackpad itself was defective. The laptop was orvernighted to the repair depot in the southeast. Naturally, there was a three-week wait for parts - despite this being a model currently in production. Finally, after causing a stink (this is, after all, my primary work machine), a helpful support tech located parts at another facility. Another week later, and my laptop was back - with the SAME problem continuing to surface. This time I dug deeper, looking into the various trackpad settings, tweaking the various "accidental interrupt" delay settings, verifying that the "click to drag" feature was disabled, and running various diagnostics on the trackpad itself. The one interesting thing I noted was that the button-stickiness only seemed to happen in applications (IE, Word, etc.) - the button "stickiness" didn't happen when scrolling through Windows... I recently purchased an HP ProBook 450 G3. I am using two passport compact 1 TB drives with my laptop's two USB 3.0 ports. In normal use there is no problem. However, when I copy a lot of data from one to the other (or from one to the laptop's internal drive) the drives keep disconnecting. I know this because first I will get a copying error saying either the source or the destination is missing. Then I will hear the "chime" that Windows makes when a USB device connects or disconnects. Then the autoplay window for the Passport drive will appear. It seems that it spontaneously disconnects and then reconnects. I can continue using it for a time afterward, but it always spontaneously disconnects at some point, always when I am doing large data transfers.

I wondered if I have a poor physical connection---the USB plugs seem a bit loose. I checked if there is any vibration or movement that could break the connection, but so far there is no evidence that anything is moving. The disconnection always happens when a lot of data is being transferred, while the drives are sitting completely still.

Any ideas how to debug this?

A:Hard drive malfunction? USB port malfunction? Or just normal?

This is a hard situation to diagnose from a distance IMO. "Loose" is somewhat subjective, and barring serious abuse the only kinds of usb connectors & ports I've ever seen fail mechanically are mini and micro USB2 types.

I'd be inclined to suspect the drives first, especially if they are from the same family and were produced around the same time (the "bad batch" phenomenon). Have you tried to reproduce the problem on other machines, or with different drives on your machine?

I have been facing this problem since the first week of acquiring it and to me it seems like a hardware issue. The track pad pops out from right bottom corner on every left click. And due to that after a few left clicks there is a point when the right click doesn't work. This is the first time I bought a HP laptop on and my experience has been terrible so far.

I was assured that this product has international warranty and I gifted it to my parents in India. Upon contacting the HP service center in India, I was told they don?t have any solutions for this problem. I contacted Best Buy, they don?t have a solution. I contacted HP, they don?t have a solution. Is this the kind of customer service you provide when the product is under warranty. I am highly disappointed with not just Best Buy?s customer service but I have decided not to buy a HP product ever. It?s not the first time I bought a laptop, I have had products from Dell and Apple and I must say here that their customer service is phenomenal.

I am even willing to make arrangements to get this product back to the US as this product is not availa... Read more

Hi everyone.

I have a Dell M3800 workstation and am looking for a replacement trackpad for it.
It seems the trackpad is coming away from it's housing, and is raised up.
I am also having a lot of difficulty getting the right click to work, so I am looking to put a new one in.

I have trawled through a number of part suppliers and contacted Dell, but I am not finding one.

Could anyone help me out?

Yours hopefully,

Recently bought an old L540.Great machine in excellent condition. Original keyboard wasn't backlit, and the trackpad was the horrible one without the 3 buttons on top. I tried changing the keyboard (ebay one), and it works great.. Except the backlight.. Filing complaint to seller. However - the trackpad is what bothers me. I've installed win 10. The newest edition. 1803. The trackpad I bought is: https://www.ebay.com/itm/Trackpad-Touchpad-Three-Keys-Button-for-IBM-Lenovo-Thinkpad-L440-L540-L450-... The 3 buttons work.Pressing and dragging rarely works.Multitouch is not even an option. Like scrolling on the web using 2 or 3 fingers. I've searched everywhere for drivers for it. Newest ones, old ones, removing files, following guides. Jeez I worked hard. Still no solution. So my question stands:Have anyone had similar experience replacing the trackpad, and then making it work properly? The trackpad has a name: LEN2004 I'd love to name all the driver versions I've tried - but I exploded and decided to reinstall windows 10 completely, with the new trackpad installed as well. But once that's done, I will go through all the processes once more, in case no one has come up with some advice. I hope you can help me out - else I'll have to use the old original one. Regards Thomas

Hello,

I have a GX60 1AC-021US, and I recently installed windows 8.1 because I knew the cd key was on the motherboard. Ever since I reinstalled Windows, my trackpad turns off when I put the computer to sleep. When I resume my laptop, I have to press Fn+F3 for it to work again.

Also, if I have the Synaptic drivers installed then my trackpad won't work at all. When I press Fn+F3 the trackpad enable image displays, then almost immediately the trackpad disable image displays, and my trackpad doesn't work.

I have a new X1 Yoga 2nd Gen and the track has the following problems with two finger scroll. 1 When scrolling with Internet Explorer or Edge it scrolls smoothly but then the page will start jumping up and down. It often does this during a smooth two finger scrolling stroke. 2 When scrolling through a text document, directories and most things that are not browser related the effort and number of strokes with my fingers required goes up hugely. It is like the page is stuck and difficult to move. I write software so scrolling through documents with various editors and android studio is part of my daily work. I have the latest Bios, latest drivers and Windows is fully up to date. I reported the fault to Lenovo and they signed on to my computer and agreed there is a problem. They offered to swap the laptop or to get an engineer out to replace the touchpad. When I told the consultant that this is the second X1 Yoga laptop I have had because of this problem he said it was probably a bad batch of hardware. I doubt this as it seems more like bad drivers. Does anyone else have these problems? I am currently using a Thinkpad T420 which I think is perfect machine in all ways but just too slow now. Phil

I use a y50-70,  model 20378, I'm running Windows 10 and all my drivers are up-to-date (I have installed the most recent trackpad drivers through the Windows 10 auto-detect drivers feature, and I have installed them directly from the Lenovo website). Sometimes, when I open up the computer, the trackpad is disabled without explanation. When I go to Mouse settings I receive this notification "Unable to connect to the Synaptics Pointing Device Driver. If you have installed another PS/2 Pointing Device Driver please uninstall the Synaptics driver by clicking on the Yes button. You then need to reinstall your pointing device driver for your external device again. Do you want to uninstall the Synpatics driver now?"I have done this several times, and the fix is never permanent. I click yes to have the Synpatics driver uninstalled, then I remove and reinsert my USB mouse (logitech M545) and wait for that driver to be reinstalled. I then reinstall my the Synaptics driver and restart my computer. Everything works fine. However, the next time I put my computer to sleep/standby/power off, I have to go through this song-and-dance again if I want my trackpad to work. This has happened several times. My trackpad only works if the driver has just been installed, and the computer just restarted. If I turn off, then turn on the computer, WITHOUT installing the trackpad driver, the trackpad doesn't work.

Hello,
I just bought a refurbished Asus S56C (running windows 8) to use at work at although the trackpad works, it is not very pleasant.
I have adjusted the settings as much to my liking as possible but the vertical scrolling is jerky and it often misses the two finger tap for 'right click' gesture.
The current driver is up to date, I read that some Asus use Elan and some Synaptics trackpad software but mine just seems to be signed as Asus. I've attached a screenshot of the driver details as they are now.
Is it possible to download a better driver that would make the trackpad a bit more user friendly?
Thanks very much

Look for/use the latest version provided by Asus.

The only recommended place to get laptop drivers is from the manufacturer.

Additionally, sometimes the trackpad becomes completely unresponsive for a few seconds.I've tried installing multiple versions of the trackpad driver from both Lenovo and the generic Synaptics driver without success. I currently have "Lenovo Pointing Device - v19.0.17.5 07Aug15" installed on a clean install of Windows 10. It seems like a driver issue as the trackpad works as expected in Linux Mint 17.2. I'd appreciate any assistance as my laptop is currently almost unusable.

A:Trackpad problem

Hi -

I see nothing in those logs to suggest an active malware issue as the cause. It might be that the trackpad itself needs maintenance, there may be a stuck key on the keyboard, or the drivers reinstalled. It would be best to ask for help in the Hardware section of the forum for assistance with that.

I do see that ComboFix was run on this machine. While you see it used here often, we don't want it run before an initial analysis can be performed, to help decide whether to deploy ComboFix or not, and have baseline data available should something go wrong.

As you've already run it, if there's a log at C:\ComboFix.txt I'd like to look at it.

A few months ago this started happening, I just didn't mind it, but now I am sick of it.

Every time I boot up my computer, the trackpad acts as if the settings are the default settings although if I open up the settings page for it, it displays what it should be and then acts as it should until the next reboot. So I just have to open up the settings every time I boot my computer, which gets old.
The main differences:
I don't like the tap-to-click, I prefer the buttons since I tend to accidentally click stuff when I just want to move the cursor, but that keeps coming back.
I use the two-finger scroll which doesn't work until I open up the settings.

Is there some small file that has a broken line or something?

It is an HP Pavilion dv6 running W7 Home Premium.

Thanks!

I have an ASUS with Windows 10 and usually there's a feature where I can tap with two fingers to right click but it hasn't been working for a few days. All the ways on how to re-enable it that I've searched online aren't working. Really need some assistance

Hello!  I bought this device just yesterday evening, and in about 12 hours usage I have had this problem about 3 times: 1) The trackpad slows down2) Next, it'll apparently start detecting the wrong gestures, like multifingered gestures when I use only one finger, or the inverse, or else it starts clicking when I'm not putting on much pressure, etc.3) Finally - and this is the worst part - the trackpad stops detecting pressure in about 60% of it's central area...4) I restart the system and everything is perfect again for a while. What should I do? Should I return the product? I already searched for updates in the software, but everything was fine and up to date. Thanks for your time!

I see that trackpad problems are common to Dell laptops.  I have read the forums here and other places that have suggested different driver fixes. The only thing I have found that works is to uninstall the driver completely and not reinstall anything.  However, this works until I reboot the machine, and then the driver gets installed again and it is back to problems.
Is there anything out there that works?
