Internet near impossible to use

Q: Internet near impossible to use

Hello!

For about 2-3 days now, it's become impossible to load certain websites. These websites include www.mediafire.com, and there is software called "Hamachi" to simulate a virtual lan server, which also won't connect at all. Hamachi gets stuck at "Probing" and mediafire.com completely fails to load. I have used websites like isitdown to check if mediafire is down for everyone of just me, and it's just me.

I have restarted the router 4-5 times, and I've tried accessing it from all computers in our home, but none of them work.

I am using Windows 8 and am with MWEB.

Please help,
Ruben

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

A: Internet near impossible to use

That sounds like an ISP problem
it is quite likely blocked by your ISP
I have friends in SA who inform me that when they reach close to their monthly limits, sites like mediafire and other sharing sites get blocked
Most SA ISPs do severely limit what you can download and give what is seen in rest of the world as very low bandwith limits for a very expensive price

Check with ISP first

A:suspected malware- internet browsing almost impossible although connected to the internet

Using more than one anti-virus program is not advisable. The primary concern with doing so is due to conflicts that can arise when they are running in real-time mode simultaneously and issues with Windows resource management. Even when one of them is disabled for use as a stand-alone scanner, it can affect the other. Anti-virus software components insert themselves into the operating systems core and using more than one can cause instability, crash your computer, slow performance and waste system resources. When actively running in the background while connected to the Internet, they both may try to update their definition databases at the same time. As the programs compete for resources required to download the necessary files this often can result in sluggish system performance or unresponsive behavior. Each anti-virus may interpret the activity of the other as malicious behavior and there is a greater chance of them alerting you to a "False Positive". If one finds a virus or a suspicious file and then the other also finds the same, both programs will be competing over exclusive rights on dealing with that virus or suspicious file. Each anti-virus may attempt to remove the offending file and quarantine it at the same time resulting in a resource management issue as to which program gets permission to act first. If one anit-virus finds and quarantines the file before the other one does, then you encounter the problem of both wanting to scan each other'... Read more

hey guys

My internet has stopped working suddenly and i cant figure out a solution
ive been scouering the internet from my phone for a couple days now and ive tried so many things and none of them have worked.
not sure what has changed this ive checked all my drivers and firmwares, re-installed my drivers, reset all of the hardware involved checked my firewalls and my power settings and the device setting, ive tried setting a static IP address, i cant figure out whats causing it, one minute itll be fine and then 3 seconds later itll turn off and wont even connect to the network and then a few hours later ill get back on for another 3 seconds and it drops back out again or it says its connected but wont open up web pages because they are "unavailable"...

im running my internet from a wireless USB (Netgear WG111 v2) which ive never had issues with before, I also tried tethering to my iphone internet as well which it also wouldn't connect to either, even via USB.
everyone else in my house can connect fine but when my computer does get on someone else gets kicked off, but the static IP address didnt solve this though

thanks

A:Impossible internet problem

a few different points there , just to cover
1) its wireless connection
2) it disconnects intermittently
3) it knocks someone else off

is it always the case it will knock other users off (assuming they all stay connected and are not off anyway)

setup to use an automatic IP and not fixed
then can you do all the following please

Is this the only PC that disconnects - do other devices connected work OK - if so how are they connected to the router - wireless or wired

would you post the following tests when the internet is working OK, and then repeat ALL the tests when the internet disconnects. - as its only for a few seconds , the above may not be possibly - but it appears sometimes when it disconnects you cannot reconnect - so the tests will work

Make sure you also indicate on the reply which tests are for what condition.

if you are connected by wireless, please include the xirrus screen shots for both conditions - see how below.

What firewall / security suite or anti-virus do you currently have on the PC - or you have ever had on the PC in the past - any trial ware - like Norton, kaspersky or Mcafee or any free security suites like zonealarm, AVG , Webroot etc

------------------------------------------------------------------------
ipconfig /all

If you cannot access the internet with this PC, then you will need to paste the results into something like notepad and then copy onto a machine that can access the internet and post the results in a reply here.

I have a Gateway notebook. It came with Win XP Media Center 2005. I reformatted it to XP pro sp2. The computer itself is fine, sort of. It is a wireless Gateway, but it can not detect wireless connections. I tried starting a new broadband network, but it wont let me because it says the one on the computer should be working. I can't even connect to the computer by hooking up directly to the router.
Another problem are my sound an video. Since the "up-grade" I lost all of my sound and video capabilities. Apparently the sound drivers were not loaded. I can't even look for updates online because it the Wizard can not find an internet connection. What shoud I do? Thank you.

A:Impossible To Connect To Internet!!!

You need to go to the Gateway site and download the chipset, sound, video, and network drivers for your specific laptop. Since that machine doesn't connect, use a CD-R/RW or USB FLASH disk to move them over to the machine for installation.

Hi everyone,

I have just upgraded my Windows XP with SP2
I have just a brand new DSL connection from VERIZON. Previoulsy I had another one abroad.

I connected their modem to my ethernet card. Fine. It is running well, connection is active... but impossible to display any page in internet explorer (v6).
Reason is that it is impossible to access to the DNS server. Verizon helpline confirms this diagnostic. So according to them, they can not do anything for me!!!

My connection setting is properly marked with "Have an automatic DNS adress".

I do not know all the security and network parameters. I'm lost . Do you have any idea? Thanks for your help!

I had a similar problem on one of my computers. Internet was working fine on XP until I installed SP2. I'd also like to know how to solve this problem.

Hello everyone,

I'm having these problem in normal mode in windows vista:

-No connectivity (the computer on the bottom right is having an X like when there is no cable plugged)
-Impossible to install anything
-Impossible to uninstall anything
-Impossible to go in the network settings
-Impossible to run scan like malware byte, hijackthis, combofix, etc... (They start for like 2 or 3 seconds then freeze!)

But I know it's a virus or something like that because right now I'm writting you this in safe mode and everything works perfect. The problem is that the scanning tools don't find anything because it must be running only in normal mode.

Any suggestion of what I can do next to be able to a least post an hijackthis log from the normal mode (I don't think that logs from safe mode would help?)

Thanks a lot for your help!

I have a very serious internet problem. Let's say I am browsing the internet, minding my own business, (or others' if on facebook) When suddenly, I get: This error. Not my pic, but still my error. Or sometimes it is a "timed out" error.
Whatever the case, more than half the time My internet goes on and off in waves, the way pain does. It happens no matter where I am and no matter how strong the connection. When it is at its worse, the internet is unusable. That is the only reason a am using a Mac. (*throwing up* Not as bad as a Gateway, though...) The problem has persisted ever since a few days after I installed last week. I cannot pinpoint the problem. I very seriously need help. Without the internet, all I can do on my computer is play Star Wars KOTOR and watch Star Trek. PLEASE HELP.

I have used the diagnostic repair and even updated/reinstalled my internet driver, but it's still not working.
I don't know if it's the laptop or the wireless router that's the problem.
Can anybody please help?

I have a Linksys Wireless-G 2.4GHz 802.11g Broadband Router

A:Impossible Wireless Internet Problem

Is there power to the router when it is plugged in? If so, it sounds like you might need to hold down the "Reset" Button on the router for about 30 seconds.. Can you see other networks? Is your Wireless Switch light blue or amber?

Let me know if you get results from this.. If the router does not power on, then the router has been fried and you need to purchase a new router.

I have a 10mb/ps signal.. but my internet runs at dial-up speeds at best. Me and my roommate are having to share internet, so we change out the ethernet cables going into our single port modem when one of us needs to use it.

He's on an ACER laptop running Vista, and he gets internet almost flawlessly..I'm on a Vaio PC and have never had a problem connecting to the internet, but mine gives nearly dial-up speeds.

I have run SUPERAnti-Spyware almost daily, restored my system, cleaned Private Data, everything I can think of..

I dont know what else to say.. i'm irritated, the cable company has been out here 4 times in 2 weeks and not a thing has changed, and they are so incredibly simple minded.

I have a relatively new Dell XPS 410 running Windows XP Media Center Edition. I am extremely exasperated over a problem that seems unfixable. Every time I start the computer, I get a pop-up appearing right before the user log on screen. It says "Fixed" and will not let me exit out, so I can only perss "OK" to bypass it. The log on screen is normal and any user can be selected to log on. But, when selcted to log on, it loads personal settings, flashes the desktop and immediately logs off and saves the settings. I can not get to the desktop, so I can not scan for viruses or delete files. I really don't want to hear the computer is forever inoperable. Any advice would be appreciated!

It appears as though you stopped at Step 2

Download Deckard's System Scanner (DSS) to your Desktop. Note: You must be logged onto an account with administrator privileges.

Note:

DSS automatically runs HijackThis for you, but it will also install and place a shortcut to HijackThis on your desktop if you do not already have HijackThis installed.

Close all applications and windows.
Double-click on dss.exe to run it, and follow the prompts

If the following message from DSS appears, please click on "Yes" to allow it to download HijackThis, if you don't already have it.

Allow DSS through your firewall to download HijackThis by clicking "OK"

DSS has installed HijackThis, and placed a shortcut on your desktop. Click "OK" to allow the scan to continue.

.
When the scan is complete, two text files will open - main.txt <- this one will be maximized and extra.txt <-this one will be minimized
Copy (Ctrl+A then Ctrl+C) and paste (Ctrl+V) the contents of main.txt here.
Please attach extra.txt to your post.
To attach a file to a new post, simplyClick the[Manage Attachments] button under Additional Options > Attach Files on the post composition page, and

Is there any way to stop Virtu Monde popups? Somehow, I have become infected. Nothing seems to stop this creature. I have NIS installed. It doesn't help. I have Windows Defender installed. It doesn't help. My settings are set to block all popups. It doesn't help. Spyware Doctor will remove Virtu Monde a hundred times a day, but it always keeps comming back. I don't want to remove Virtu Monde a hundred times a day. I want to stop it from placing popups on my computer in the first place. Is this possible. If so, how do I do it?

Thank you in advance,

I have a folder in my external terabyte that appeared some time ago. I can not delete it with any software. I tried to delete with DOS and it says all the same. The problem is that it will not let me downgrade it to a write-able format. It seems to be locked in READ ONLY status. I have attempted to take ownership of the drive and the files, but I can not get rid of it. When I first noticed it, it was random letters. When I tried to delete the file it turned into many many "Z's". When I ran the DOS delete protocol it changed into 6 "Z's"; with in that folder is a empty folder called "Update". Since then I have not been able to do anything about it. I don't know what to do. I even downloaded a program called Delete on Boot, and still no success. I have been coming here for about a year when I caught the Rogue Internet Security 2010. It was since then, 12/30/09 the day that i reformatted to yield to the virus's victory that the file first appeared in the external hard drive. I am wits end and I know someone out there can help me. Please tell me what to do. I was told that it was very complex and destructive hack file. Am I infected again?

I'm currently wanting to do a clean install but I can't because I can't workout what happened in the past

A:How is this even impossible?

Sounds like you may have an OEM System Builder versions of Windows 8. It is intended to be installed by someone or a company building a new computer that is to be resold. That particular version includes a personal use license which allows anyone to buy an OEM System Builder copy of the software and install it on a (new or old) PC that is intended for personal use. It should have come with an installation key.

Here is some more information on the ZDnet web site.

Hey guys it's me again with my annoying and those that seem to be impossible-to-fix-problems.

Well 3 months ago i bought an AMD 5600+ Dual Core and i had lots of problems since then, believing it was defective, i wrote to AMD support and requested an RMA. My replacement arrived today. It fixed LOTS of random crashes and my computer was able to boot up properly with both rams placed on in dual channel. I went to play on Soulstorm, it crashed, sometimes half way through a game or sometimes about 5 minutes into the game. I went on another game which is Company of Heroes, it crashed too.

The only reason i tested these 2 games was because they crashed most of the times when i had the defective processor.I thought it was the RAM but i thought it wouldn't make any sense because while waiting for my replacement to arrive, i put in my old AMD Athlon 3500+ and it worked fine with EVERY SINGLE games so it couldn't be the RAM and it can't be the replacement either. Not knowing what else to do, i took one stick of ram out, and guess what? It worked like a charm ! I really have no idea what's going on inside but if anyone had been through this or anyone who knows how to fix please help and....ermm if it works you'll be able to rest assured that a person on earth is grateful and just wants to kill you with hugs XD

Because XP will not always show you hidden files and folders by default, Go to Start - Search and under "More advanced search options". Make sure there is a check by "Search System Folders" and "Search hidden files and folders" and "Search system subfolders"

Next click on My Computer. Go to Tools - Folder Options. Click on the View tab and make sure that "Show hidden files and folders" is checked. Also uncheck "Hide protected operating system files" and "Hide extensions for known file types". Now click "Apply to all folders"
Click "Apply" then "OK"

Hi there. I somehow manged to contract a Trojan Virus that Ad-Aware identified as Virtumonde on my laptop and cannot figure out how to get rid of it. i realized that my Java was out of date so i removed the JS2E version, i tried to install the newest version but i keep getting an error which i believe comes from the Trojan, not windows itself. I tried Vundofix, ComboFix, and SuperAntiSpyware, but the computer would not let me and i got the same error window each time:

The computer did, however let me install and run HijackThis, so here is my log. Thanks in advance for any help, i really appreciate it. I am an engineering student and usually i can figure out how to repair these things, but this one has me stumped!

This is probably not the right place to ask, but does anyone know of a simple way of saving to a file in My Documents (for later burning) a piece of music that's playing on my computer from a CD in the drive or something downloaded from the net?

Ideally I'm looking to have a software icon in my taskbar which I can click to start recording something I'm listening to on my computer.

I would really appreciate any help with this.

A:The Impossible Dream? Is It?

There are applications that can do this. One that I know of is Virtual Audio Cable. I've used it and it works well, but it cost's $30.A free alternative may be the LineIn Plugin for WinAmp, though I've never tried it.Please note that using such applications for copyright infringement is a violation of the Digital Millennium Copyright Act (in the USA) and/or equivalent national laws outside the USA.

Hi -

Where did Windows 7 originate? Did you purchase a full retail copy, upgrade from Vista, etc...?

This morning, while attempting to move some files around my Windows 7 64bit laptop began telling me that I didn't have permission to do so, as I needed permission from the "TrustedInstaller". I googled this issue and resolved it by configuring permissions.

Feeling a little suspicious I decided to run Malwarebytes. As I attempted to install it, when asked what language I wanted - the program defaults to "Bosanski". Being that I work in IT and have cleaned hundreds of machines I installed it anyway and was able to blindly walk my way through it and run a scan. It came back clean.

I then went to "Region and Language" in the Control Panel and once I got in there, all the values started scrolling around madly until it settled on "Afrikaans (South Africa).

I then went to download Speccy, as to give you a screenshot of my system specs and the installer did the same thing. It chose the "Portuguese" language. I then tried to download some other programs and they all did the same thing.

Another bug that is happening is that when I attempt to move any files, Windows will not allow me to scroll down...it locks onto "My Documents" and then if I scroll down and choose a different directory...it immediately scrolls back up to My Documents.

I'm at my wits end with this, as googling as brought me nothing. One thread came close to what I was describing but it had no resolution. And most of the things from his log appear identi... Read more

A:Nearly Impossible To Describe, But I'll Try

Trustedinstaller *belongs* to the operating system and should not be moved or modified in any way. Also, keep in mind, just because you scanned with MBAM and came up clean, doesn't mean that your system, is in fact, clean. It sure sounds like malware, or some kind of virus, to me. If you have an installed AV, run a full system scan. Perhaps you could try restoring to a point before you had issues. I don't believe Trustedinstaller would have anything to do with the language issues that you are experiencing.

I was recently trying to download a file on a trusted site (I'd used the site before without any problems). I found this program called optimizer pro on my desktop, so I deleted and uninstalled the program. A couple days afterwards, I see my computer running super slowly and an Optimizer Pro pop-up appears. I go to uninstall it again, and it says the un-installation files are missing. I go download optimizer pro again for the un-installation files and my computer doesn't complete the download. It says -Network Error-, So I go look up a solution on google chrome and all it says is "Try Again Later". So I'm stuck with Optimizer pro which seemingly slows down my PC, and I can't download anything to get it off of my computer because of the constant network error. So I thought maybe there was a solution inside the OS that someone on here knows about.color=#000099]Edit: Moved topic from Windows 7 to the more appropriate forum, as suggested by Staff. Also duplicate topic was deleted.~ Animal[/color]

Usng my same old Windows 7 Home Premium upgrade DVD to do a clean install on a new laptop.

I've been told this was not possible.

I did delete all partitions on the main hard drive, then format during the installation process but other than name the hard drives, This is what I got after the install was complete.

Do you think I will have any problems down the road?

Thank You

A:So this supposed to be impossible?

I've used an Ultimate upgrade DVD to do a few clean reinstalls on the same machine. I would think you'd need a new key to activate the same installer to a different machine. If you used the same key both times then one will show up as non genuine, eventually, I think at least.

Hello boys and girls. About one year ago, my 500GB Western Digital MyBook hard drive died when I unplugged it from my motherboard. It lived a long life. It was time for it to die. I figured maybe a power surge killed it since I didn't "Safely remove the hardware". The computer it died on was built by myself. It was an Asus motherboard and a Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit OS. I was convinced that my data was lost, so I bought a 500GB Toshiba Canvio portable USB drive in the color black. I plugged it into a rear USB 2.0 port. It was recognized for about three seconds, and then Windows displayed a yellow popup from the bottom right corner of the taskbar saying "The device has malfunctioned". A new hard drive? Come on. I brought it downstairs to my dads Vista machine, and it worked just fine. I scratched my head, and for kicks, I tried my "dead" MyBook on the same machine. It worked! I could see all my data!

After this, I figured it was a bad motherboard. Since none of the ports on the computer were working with it. (Mind you, mice, flashdrives, printers, keyboards, hubs, etc. were all functioning fine on the system). It was ONLY mass storage USB devices that were not working. I waited about a year and built a new computer. New EVERYTHING. Windows 7 OS, Asus motherboard, and all that good stuff. I was so excited to finally be able to use my USB hard drive again. I missed my data. But... It didn't work. It makes the usb "Bee-boop" but will no... Read more

That is odd. Can you please check something? Note check, do not change any value yet:

What value is stored in your registry under:

A:Pop Up impossible to remove

Here is a quote from the spybot forums on this subject

The problem with the DSO Exploit is a little bug. We have already been able to locate and fix it, but unfortunately it was not included with the last update. It will hopefully be with the next one.
The DSO Exploit is a security gap in IE. Microsoft did already repair this, so if you have all Windows updates and patches installed, it is not dangerous for your system.
I hope that explains the situation.

If you want to stop it appearing in Spybot do this Click on Mode/advanced/settings/ignore products then tick it in the list that appears and it wont show anymore
