I recommend downloading and running DAP. It can help sort out any driver and firmware related issues on your system

It's worked out well for many of us in the past.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloaddap.org. (This link will open the download page of DAP so you can save a copy to your computer.)

Hi guys,

In december i installed a Lexmark wireless printer to a laptop, a few weeks ago the laptop was stolen and has now been replaced. During this time the isp has changed to talktalk.

I tried to install the printer on the new laptop but it just cant seem to see the device. I tried a factory reset on the printer and i KNOW im using the right wireless key.

Having phoned Lexmark and tried everything again the technician advised its something to do with the router/isp settings (we disabled the mcafee firewall)

In summary, during setup (with a usb cable between laptop and printer) the ssid is found, when i click continue it scans for the printer but never finds it. I know the ip of the printer but when i ping it all packets fail.

Can anyone tell me wot i should do please?

Thanx
Paul

I cant catch a break with this computer.
Well, my 8600GT came in the mail today and I replaced it with my 8500GT.
It booted up fine besides a new screen I havent seen before. The 8600GT has 2 DVI ports on the back so I used the DVI converter it came with to connect it to my monitor.
Anyways... While it was booting up, it says it cannot detect the OS, please boot from a CD.
So I took out the 8600 and put the 8500 back in and it booted up fine.
Ive tried google'n the problem and didn't find much.
Anyone have any ideas on whats up?

danneth, welcome to the forums.

First thing that comes to mind is have you installed any motherboard/chipset drivers? Windows 7 has a fairly good inventory of drivers, but depending on the age of the hardware it may be not much more than enough to provide basic functionality, and take actual drivers from the hardware manufacturer to get full function out of it.

My organization utilizes quite a few Thinkpad Yoga S1s (20C0 and 20DK), all of them seem to have issues with the wireless adapters, they will intermittently stop detecting any wireless networks. We have noticed that this seems to happen most often when moving the laptop either between APs or to different wifi networks, and to get it to work again we either have to disable then re-enable the wireless AC adapter's driver or reboot, sometimes needing to do both. We have tried more recent drivers and it doesn't seem to have much effect, has anyone else seen this issue and do you have a resolution? Thanks

You don't mention operating system?  It is hard to diagnose without seeing it, but try this:

Under device manager/network adapters, right-click the wireless card and select properties.  On the power management tab, uncheck the option that allows the computer to turn the device off to save power.

Hello all. I came across this website and forum through searching for this problem. I've come across similar problems but they all either end with the person taking their computer to a shop or it goes unsolved.

Here is the issue:
My computer (Dell Vostro 1500 with Windows XP) will not detect the wireless network we have here at home. The wireless card is an Intel Pro Wireless 3945ABG. The laptop has a light that shows if WiFi is on or not. Whenever I turn on the laptop, the light is usually on but not detecting any wireless network (either ours or someone else's).

-This started happening about three weeks ago. There was no damage to the computer. I reformatted the laptop and reinstalled all the drivers but the problem persisted.
-Turns out one of our cats had thrown up on the router we had at the time so I figured that was the problem and waited until we got another one.
-The new one came yesterday and everything was working fine. A couple hours later the problem resurfaced.

I rolled back the driver thinking maybe that was the issue but apparently it wasn't. I tried uninstalling the wireless card and reinstalling. The only thing that accomplished was deleting the profile I had on there. I've tried the simple repair option but that hasn't worked.

I know the router is broadcasting a signal because everyone else in the house is getting the connection.

Here is what is displayed when I do the IPCONFIG/ALL in CMD:

Hello,

I recently purchased a used laptop from a local school district and I have been trying to access the wireless internet connection I have at home - but I can't.

It can connect to the internet through the ethernet cable. It came with "IBM Access Connections", a connections managing program that lets me switch between the default "USD XXX Wireless" network (The school district's default wireless connection), "Out of District" (also came when I bought the computer) and "My House", the network I created to connect the laptop to the internet at home (that I'm forced to use an ethernet cable with).

In the Control Panel, an icon "Wireless LAN Settings" is available, that gives me the message "Unable to Connect to the Wireless NetCard. Is it inserted?".

All of these clues of wireless connections that once were lead me to believe that the 'NetCard' that allows for wireless connections was removed before the laptop was given to me. Is there somewhere I can check to see if this hardware exists or is configured correctly?

Hello,

I have a Inspiron 1520 with a Dell Wireless 1390 WLAN mini Card. Lately I noticed that if I left the laptop on (or maybe just restart, not sure, don't want to test it right now) and let it go to sleep and then turn it back on, it won't detect any wireless networks. I have to wait 10-15 minutes before it can detect networks again, I don't know what to do. I know its not the router, since it can't detect other networks either which there are a few around. I have this laptop for almost a year now. It worked just fine till recently. I think it is the network card, the driver or the hardware, I don't know, but while it just start up, it takes forever for the wireless to start detecting again. Anyone know why and what can I do about it. (BTW, I reformatted in hope it will fix it, it didn't).

Hi

I bought an Acer 2301 laptop a few months ago. It has an Acer IPN 2220 wireless LAN card. A few days ago I visited my brother who has a wireless network set up in his house ? DLINK ADSL broadband router. He uses the wireless network for 1 Pc and 2 laptops. As I had my laptop I tried to connect to this network but couldn?t. I tried finding wireless networks and it said there were no wireless networks found in range. I disabled and re-enabled the LAN card. I uninstalled and re-installed it. I disabled my firewall. All to no avail. The network is not running encrypted and my brother said he had no trouble connecting all his wireless cards. Can anyone explain why my wireless LAN card couldn?t find anything?

Thanks

A:Wireless Lan Card Cant Detect Network

there could be several reasons for this, the card could have simply had its "radio" turned off. Most internal cards have a switch function to turn on and off their ability to detect networks. This is usually either a special button or a key combo. Check the BIOS, the card may have to be enabled in there as well as in device manager. Some systems I've encountered come with wireless disabled in the BIOS as default. Also, are you sure your brother's router was "broadcasting" its SSID. Most routers have the ability to turn this off. This causes you to have to know the SSID and config the card manually.

I'm hoping you guys can help...

I upgraded my mobo, cpu, ram and video card today. I kept my HDD, optical drives, and my wireless adapter (Edimax EW-7128g)

In my zeal to install my new components I had forgotten to uninstall the drivers of the edimax, which I was going to keep, and my old ATI radeon, which I was replacing.

After installing the new components, every thing started up fine, except the edimax wireless adapter would refuse to connect, or even detect any wireless networks. I uninstalled and reinstalled the drivers countless times, swapped the wireless card around in the different pci slots, but still came up with the same problem.

I noticed that when I checked the network adapters in control panel, it would keep calling the Edimax "wireless adapter (2)" or "wireless adapter (3)" depending on which pci slot I put it in. I would try renaming it to simply "wireless adapter" but it would state that an adapter by that name already exists. I'm guessing this is some holdover from being connected to the old motherboard.

In short, new mobo recognizes the card, latest drivers for windows 7 are installed, but windows keeps telling me there's an error with the drivers, and every time I try and search for wireless connections, it won't even search...it will just say "no connections available." Was this whole issue precipitated by forgetting to uninstall the drivers and the card itself before upgrading my mobo?

Hi, here is an e-mail I sent to Belkin tech support ... but I haven't heard back so I thought I'd try here. Can anyone help me?

Hi, I'm trying to set up a Belkin F5D6020 ver2 wireless adapter on my IBM 233mhz laptop running WIN98se. I want to connect to my existing wired network. I have a cable modem connected to my Belkin F5D6231-4 router. I have 2 PCs connected to the router via ethernet cable. The wired part of the network is working beautifully. All wired PCs can talk to each other. When I have my wired network adapter installed on the laptop, it works great too.

I installed the installation software on the laptop using the EASY option. I plug in the adapter card when prompted and Windows installs the drivers. My computer doesn’t ask me to restart so I restart manually. The monitor utility comes up and, after a minute, a warning message displays ‘The access point you are attempting to access does not appear to exist. Please select the new one’. The prompts on the utility screen read:

Profile name: Default
Operating mode: infrastructure
Channel = 3 (greyed out)
SSID = ANY
Tx Rate = Auto
MAC address = 00-30-BD-D2-BF-06
status = scanning

There is no signal strength or link quality. I click on the site survey tab and there is nothing listed. I click rescan and still nothing. The green link LED on the card is flashing. The WLAN light on the router is solid green.

On my PC web browser I go to http://192.168.2.1/ to access the router set up utility.

I'm having big problems with my PC (running vista ultimate 64) detecting any available network. I'm having to use my second PC which is XP to
connect to the network to write this and having splashed out on a uber machine to play online thats pozzing me off.
Heres the story so far. In my old house I had both my PCs (XP-pro and Vista64 ultimate) connecting to my wireless network without problem.
Moved to a new house and the ISP provider sent me a new WIFI gateway (netopia 2247nwg, which is the same model as my old one) and therefore a new network to set up.
Set up my Xp PC with the SSID and WPA pass and it connects no problem. Yet my vista PC refuses to see any available networks, even if I power-up
the old router (which it used to detect and connect to).
Meanwhile trusty Xp detects both gateways.
In device manager my PCI WLAN adapter is showing as working 'it is a buffalo 802.11g using the broadcom chip'. As I could not get the cards drivers
to work with vista 64 (as there are no 64bit drivers available by buffalo) it defalted to the windows generic drivers that came with the vista installation
disc. It worked with these drivers at my previous house for over a year.
I've trawled the web for more time than I care to sacrifice and there are similar cases of vista not detecting networks but no solutions that have
helped me.

A:Vista 64 cant detect my wireless network

You know, Ive been battling with a wireless network connection in Vista x86 and x64 for 2 years now. I am using a Netgear WG111v2 USB adaptor, which I know is a bit older.. But I get constant drops, and 50% of those drops from the network result in the inabillity to find a network connection.

The adaptor only connects to the network when plugged in one specific USB port, the other ones result in finding the network but being unable to connect.

Very frustrating. I could just upgrade my adaptor, I hear USB ones are not that great to use, but if anyone has any information on this as well Id appreciate it..

The option for wireless in windows has vanished, like the pc doesn't have a wireless card, just as it would appear on a normal desktop pc - only LAN. It works fine with cable. Device manager shows no wireless option either. I have tried system restore, then formatting and dl'ing wlan and lan drivers from the medion website. Same problem. When i try to enable wifi using the Fn keyboard shortcut, nothing happens. The little led does not turn on.

At this point I'm feeling like card is just broken and that it is a hardware issue. What do you think? I'm considering buying a dongle like this one (TP-LINK TL-WN725N Netv?rksadapter USB 2.0 | Model: TL-WN725N | pc-lager.dk). Would this thing enable me to have wifi?

Any help is appreciated.

EDIT: I forgot to mention that when I did a system restore it worked temporarily and I had internet access, but after a restart it stopped working. In the past it was hit or miss whether or not it would work, so again I'm leaning towards a hardware issue. Maybe there are some things I missed, though.

Having had to reinstall vista (see post titled boot sector corrupt), I'm now slowly getting the laptop back to how it looked. I've had to install adobe reader etc. but am having trouble with the wireless router.

My pc uses a wireless router but the laptop cannot find it - is it missing the network adaptor? Having done a reinstallation do I need to install this again? It's so long since I set this up I can't remember what I did, all I know is that when I click on the available networks the laptop cannot see my wireless router.

Hello,
I recently upgraded my computer from XP home to Xp pro and now my computer will not see my wireless card. I have 3 items in my device manager that have the little yellow question marks on them, all other drivers have been reinstalled and are working properly. the three in question are .

1. network controller ( I am guessing the wireless card)
2.Mass Storage Controller
3.PCI Simple Communications Controller

The unit is a gateway MX 3215. I was connected to live support from gateway and he told me that the motherboard was "Arima MagicVia VN800 " and that the chipset was VN800. The wireless card is "Broadcom BCM94318MPG". Please let me know if there is any other info I can provide. I found some drivers from the Gateway site and they didnt do crap for me, it seems I just cant find the right drivers. You help is greatly appreciated.

Ok im wracking my brain!

i have just updated my OS to windows 7 after years of XP. Since updating, a few of my hardware devices needed to be updated aswell. One in particular was my wireless card.

So i went online and purchased a Ralink 802.11b/g/n, installed software and drivers, good to go right? wrong! the bloody thing wont enable.

I have tried everything, aswell as contacting the manufacturer. They have offered me a refund, but i dont want to give in that easy.

when i right click on the the network, it says "enabaling...enabled" then it stays disabled and shaded.

Anybody had a similar issue to this, and or has some ideas?

i have posted some pics to help

I just built a new computer, and I have been trying to hook it up to my network. I have a Airlink101 MIMO(their version of Linksys SRX) router(offbrand I know) but it works.
In my new computer is a Airlink 101 pci card. It won't connect to my router. I am able to connect to my neighbors network barely, so I know the card works. I have the exact same network card in another computer in the house, and it works fine.
I thought it could be the encryption so I turned that off, and it still didnt work. I repaired it multiple times, but it kept giving me an error box for "not able to connect to router"
I installed the drivers for the PCI card like i did for the other card in the other computer, but that did not help. I installed and updated the drivers, and tried uninstalling them too.
I realize it says there is only 2-3 bars of connection beetween my computer and the router, but that shouldn't be a problem.
Why won't my card connect to my router?

thanks.

A:wireless pci card wont connect to certain router

do they both use the same protocol? I.e. 802.11 g? is one proprietary and the other not? is the router a pre -n draft router? If so it may not work....
if all the answers are no to the above, then your problem likes elsewhere. I think your problem is that your router is non-standard.

I just purchased and installed (exactly as the directions said) a LinkSys WMP-300N.

The installation calls to run the setup first, in the middle of which it will power off and you are to install the card. I did this, but when I went to boot back up, the computer goes into an endless loop of turning on and off.

I replaced my PSU (to an antec ev-650) thinking maybe it was going over max on startup, but same result. I ahve update my bios versions, and updated all drivers on the computer. Still the same thing. However, If I install the card with the computer running (i know i know, not supposed to) it works fine...in fact I am using it right now to view this website.

Any ideas of what could be wrong?

any other PCs working OK on your home wireless ?

can you run xirrus please and post a screen shot

its possible the router is on auto channel and may have changed to wireless channel 12 or 13 which is allowed across the world except for north america and if the equipment you have is set for the american market , you may not pickup that channel

Here is the problem that i am having. My computer wont recognize my pcmcia card for a wireless network. The card works fine in other computers, and other cards work fine in my computer. My wireless network card has worked before in my laptop, but for some reason it wont now. What steps should I go about to get it to recognize it. Could it be that I have already ignored the "found a new device" and so it wont come up again even after putting it in? Thanks
