Palmrest cover ThinkPad X240

Q: Palmrest cover ThinkPad X240

Hello, I would like to purchase a new palmrest keyboard cover for my Lenovo x240 and replace it with my current. My specific laptop do not have visible (physical) fingerprint sensor. My question is If I will purchase the 00HT390 part(palmrest keyboard cover including the fingerprint sensor) there is some option on the motherboard to connect it there in order to make it works? this option exist? or it's just in a specific x240 models ? Another question.. the 00HT391 part (the one without the fingerprint ) will also fit for me without an issue? the reason I want to replace it .. it because I want have a palmrest like in the x250 model.but I think if anyway i will replace the keyboard bezel i prefer in addition to add it with the fingerprint sensor as well My model details: 20AMS0SA05Serial: PF00TGAABIOS: GIET85WW (2.35 )

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

I'm puzzled between the different parts number that already found in the net, I assume the difference will be the color but I don't know exactly. <private data removed> Please help finding the correct part numbers for both the lcd back cover and palmrest.

The palmrest of my W510 has some cracks and the trackpad and it's mouse buttons seem defective, so I want to replace the palmrest, including the trackpad.Currently I have a palmrest with the fingerprint reader. Some questions: - the T510 and W510 use the same palmrests, is that right?- can I replace my palmrest with a model without fingerprint reader?- what palmrest of other Thinkpad models are also compatible? T4xx, T520, W520, what ever?- what do I have to take care of to get a compatible palmrest, is there some kind of compatibility matrix? For example, does it matter if the replacement has a color calibration scanner or not? (mine has not) Thank you very much for your help! Roland

Work purchased a T410s for $1700 in August for me. LCD vertical band issue within 3 months (4 days of downtime)Shift key doesn't work well within 6 months (40 days of annoyance)Palmrest cracking at 7th month. (?)I'll be lucky if this POS works after a year. This is my last Thinkpad ever.  My T43 is in better condition to this day than paperweight.  The T43 battery wear is only at 80%.  The battery wear on this T410s is at 87% and I stop charging at 80%, start charging below 50%, never drain it below 20%. I call tech support and asked for a new palm rest so I can just replace them myself and they told me I had to send it in to see if it's even "covered" under warranty.  I need this for WORK and hence it would completely negate the purpose of the purchase of a business laptop.  I was going to purchase two more for two new employees that we hired but these policies and issues completely reversed all feelings I have about Thinkpads.   Lenovo, you can only milk the brand for so long before you lose loyal customers like me.

A:T410s Palmrest Crack - Last Thinkpad Ever

The T410s is known to be problematic. The T410 and T510 don't suffer from LCD or palmrest issues.

I an configuring a ThinkPad x240 for a ProDock with two displays connected to the ProDock.  I have 3 displays available;  VGA, HDI and DisplayPort of which I will use some combination of two.  At present, none of them are recognized when the x240 is docked, either indivdually or in combination. The VGA on the 240 works fine when undocked but otherwise there is no video.  I have swapped out the ProDock, tried each display individually, updated to the latest UEFI version, and checked the UEFI configuration to no avail.  Does anyone have any thoughts?

Hi,I bought a Thinkpad X240 a few months ago, it was working perfectly except the know bug of the "bottom left corner" which happened a few times. But a few days ago, the screen backlight suddenly stopped working. I put it to sleep, I came back home, I opened the lid and the screen didn't light up.The screen itself works perfectly (if you put a light on it you can see what's displayed), and there's no other problem. This doesn't seem to be a software problem since I doesn't work in the BIOS, nor in Windows or Linux.. Why does the backlight would suddenly stop working ? Thanks in advance,

A:Thinkpad X240 no backlight

Same here. The backlight is out in the bios as well so I believe mine is a hardware problem. For other thinkpads, I find people saying this is a surface mount fuse on the motherboard and can be "fixed" by bridging the fuse with solder. But I can't find a fuse near the display port that is bad. The most likely fuse I find is F2 on the backside of the board near the display port, but it doesn't measure as an option circuit so I don't think that one is bad. I will probably buy another broken laptop and swap parts.

Greetings,I have Lenovo ThinkPad X240 Laptop Configuration is following: i7-4600U(3.3GHz), 8GB RAM, 1TB 5400rpm HD, 12.5in 1366x768 LCD, ...Currently trying to do an upgrade. Already decided for SSD upgrade and now checking the RAM upgrade.Unfortunatly, I have found out that X240 has only one memory slot. Also I have found out following information: "Haswell processors all can take only 8GB UDIMMs or SO-DIMMs". Am I right understanding that RAM upgrade (e.g. to DDR3L SODIMM 16Gb, 1600MHz, CL11, 1.35V) is not possible at all? Thanks in advance.

My Thinkpad X240 only comes with an external battery pack, no internal.  I usually power down my laptop at the end of the day.  The following day it won't power on.  I have to remove and re-insert back the battery pack before it turns on. If I power down and leave the laptop for 2hrs it will power up without me having to remove and re-insert back the battery pack.  But if I leave the laptop powered down for more than 3hrs I have to do the process to turn it back on. The battery charges normally, I usually get 4hrs out of the 6 cell pack. I ran the Lenovo Solution Center Comprehensive Tests, no errors found.  I also did the rest button but it won't power on without going thru the process of battery removal.

I "believe" that the Lenovo part number you need is FRU 04X0182 (Backlit KBD Arabic Chicony Part Number 04X0182) but I only see one site online that claims to have one, and it is in the UK.     The part is not cheap, so I would suggest you contact them directly (see link below) and make sure it fits your exact model, but they do appear to have one left in stock, and can ship to Egypt. EAF Supply Chainhttps://www.eafsupplychain.com/Product/LV-04X0182 You might also search for the Lenovo Part Number/FRU  elsewhere to see if you can get a better price if you do not need it right away,  but the link above was the only one I found that actually claims to have one in stock.

I recently purchased a used ThinkPad X240 and the original owner removed the HDD. I didn't believe it would be a problem since I have a 500GB SDD. He instructed me that he had installed 8GB of ram and had removed the original 4GB, again... didn't believe it would be a problem. Turned the system on with a Live USB of Linux and was not pleased to hear three beeps twice, followed by a single beep. I opened the unit and removed the 8GB stick. Received the same sounds... memory issue. I read the memory and it was 8GB DDR3 1600MHz 1.5V. I called the seller and said this is the wrong memory. These units require DDR3L (Low Voltage) 1.35V memory. He said he was unaware and it's all he has. I went and purchased Micron 8GB DDR3L 1.35V. Installed it and no more beeps. Great! Problem... no video either. Pressing power the keyboard lights up, fan spins and power button plus I on ThinkPad lights up... then keyboard lights go out, fan stops and that's all she wrote. About 1 minute and the green light on power and red light on I goes out. I tried completely discharing the unit, removed CMOS, Internal and External batteries and then held down power button for a minute or two. Same results. Tried an external Lenovo IPS monitor, and nothing... just black screen. Tried F1 repeatedly and nothing also... just black screen. Any ideas would be appreciated, thank you.

Hi all, I have a Thinkpad x240 that I bought refurbrished in ferbruary. It was working perfectly untill recently I've noticed a problem with a bult-in keyboard. So microphone mute key stopped working and when I press down and hold left Alt key, microphone mute indicator powers on. Also sometimes Fn lock led stays powered on even though Fn lock is disabled. I've noticed this behavior after I've used logitech wireless mouse with usb unified reciever. Is there a way to fix this strange behavior? I've already cleaned contacts on the keyboard connector on the motherboard and cable, but it didn't fix the problem. Also it seems like it is not OS dependet, because it has the same behavior in bios/linux/windows 7 & 10.

Hi all Both my external and internal battery of my X240 is not charging even though the charger is plugged in. None of the solution in this forum worked for me.I tried uninstalling and reinstalling the drivers under Battery in Device Manager.I tried reinstalling Power Management software. All of the above didn't work. I think the problem is my charger because I tried unplugging the external and internal battery but plugged only the ac adapter, the laptop couldn't boot up.  Is there any possibility (outside the battery, and which one?) that there is software fault or maybe the plug of the charger in the laptop broken?  please help anybody. Hello, I have a thinkpad X240. The Trackpoint button (nipple) has never worked since I've had it. The computer used to have Windows 8.1, however now it has been upgraded to Windows 10. The trackpoint button still did not work after the upgrade. I have tried updating the BIOS to the latest version, with still no change. The keyboard was recently replaced by a Lenovo tech as some keys stopped working properly, which means that the trackpoint button was replaced too. However, it still does not work. I have tried completely removing and re-installing the Synaptics driver from the lenovo website. The Trackpoint button shows as "Enabled" in the BIOS. Below is a screenshot of the "Thinkpad" tab in the mouse section of the control panel. I am guessing that there is supposed to be another option under the "Pointing options" dropdown menu which allows the Trackpoint button to be enabled.  If anybody has any suggestions as to how I can get it working, that would be appreciated.  Thank you

Hi I have a Thinkpad X240, i7 CPU and running Windows 7 Pro. It will not recognise a USB 3.0 ext HDD when I plug it in. The light is on and the disc is spinning but it does not show up on the laptop. If I plug in a USB 2.0 hub and then plug the HDD into there it works fine, although obviously at USB 2.0 speeds. If I disable USB 3.0 in the BIOS, it is also detected and works, again at the slower speed. I have tried every update I can find. Through the Thinkpad system update system and drivers direct from Intel for the USB controller. I have updated the BIOS and chipset controller. Does anyone have any suggestions? Many thanks

Hi, I wonder if you can please help or point me in the right direction. Installing Windows 10 Pro 64-bit on a Thinkpad X240, I discovered an unknown device in Device Manager, showing in the Events dialog box, "Device ACPI Int 330A0 0" with the drivers not installed being shown. I have used all the corresponding Windows 10 64-bit drivers downloaded from the Lenovo support website and also pointed to the drivers directory on the hard disk but this fails. In comparison, on the same Thinkpad X240, a Windows 7 Pro 64-bit installation from the recovery media is fine. The only difference that I noticed between these 2 installations was that in the Windows 7 Pro 64-bit installation there was a SM BIOS driver entry shown, which was not present in the Windows 10 Pro 64-bit installation. If this is the missing driver, where can I find the relevant driver files for the unknown device in Wi dows 10 Pro 64-bit? By the way, for the Thinkpad X240, what is the maximum capacity of the SATA hard disk which can be used and is it a form factor of 7mm? Also what is the maximum amount of memory, which can be installed on the Thinkpad X240? Many thanks in advance, for all your support. With kind regards.
