Lenovo Yoga 710 Enter and Backspace key not workin...

Q: Lenovo Yoga 710 Enter and Backspace key not workin...

I purchased my Yoga 710 a couple months ago and setting the annoying right shift key aside for the time being as it has been covered extensivly here. My enter and backspace keys only work on an intermittently. I initially brought the laptop back to Best Buy where I purchased it to let them take a stab at it but they said they could not recreate the issue. And as I type this message they appear to be working. However regardless if I am typing a search in google or working in Word I can tap the keys 10 - 20 times before they begin to work. Well they are acting up again. And before I drive 200 miles back to Best Buy I was hoping someone here could help me with this. Thank you

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

A:Enter Bios Lenovo Ideapad YOGA 11

Hi coucoune1633 ,
Welcome to the Lenovo Community.
To enter the BIOS , turn off the pc and use the Novo key (item1 page12) to power on .
Novo menu would appear offering BIOS set up (for changing boot options etc. )
System recovery option from one key recovery initial back up would delete everything and restore to factory defaults.
About booting to safe mode:
Since starting with Windows 8 and up , usual F8 on boot is deeply embedded on the recovery making it hard to access.
If Windows cannot boot to a viable stage for to access advance recovery menu :
1. Shift + F8 works on some system , do it at same time you see the lenovo splash screen repeatedly.
2. Forcing recovery mode on windows 8 : turn on then suddenly turn off pressing the power button , then on and off again for 2-3 attempts , Turn on and see if recovery screen would show up for the advance option.
3. Some system have F11 / F12 on BIOS to launch the recovery / boot option
4. Using a bootable media ( USB rescue image often useful for repair / back up  , using Windows media creation tool  )
If Windows 8/10 does not start: (using the command line)
How to boot into Safe Mode from the Windows 8/10 installation media or recovery USB flash drive.

I'm ready to cry. I've tried almost everything to fix this problem. I thought I had the problem fixed before but then after a few days it started doing it again. Every time I use my Backspace and Enter tabs my computer shuts right down. My computer is not showing any root, virus, malware, or any other problems that may have infected my computer. I've even done a complete clean and reinstalled my windows xp sp3 again. I back almost everything before I started. But I did lose some stuff like pictures. Some of which I can get back. Anyway, I'm rambling, that's not against the rules I hope. I read them but don't recall reading about that. Ha! Ha! Ha! Just goofing around. Thanks in advance.

Hi there, here's the problem.
I have a laptop and the enter, backspace, o and arrow keys don't seem to work periodically. The funny thing is that when I reboot the pc and use Microsoft Works word processor the keys will all work occasionally, but when I go into a flash player based chat or even on firefox browser the keys don't respond. Does anybody have any idea of why this might be. The keys all stopped working at the same time so I can't put it down to user damage. I hope you can help. kind regards:)

A:Enter & Backspace key not functioning

Attempt to use a USB keyboard. If all the keys work, it sounds like a dysfunctional keyboard. You can probably buy a replace for no more than $30, and if you're confident in your mechanical skills you could replace it yourself for free.

Not quite sure where to ask this, but I was wondering if someone might be able to help me with my problem. Last night the spacebar, backspace, and enter buttons stoped responding. Also, I can no longer scroll up and down on a page with the arrow buttons. Before this problem happend, I think I some how clicked on the Ctrl button and some screen came up about something but I don't quite remember what it was about. Also, the shaded box thing that appears behind something when you click on it kept moving up and down before I shut it down. This no longer happens but it may be linked to my current problem. I called the Dell Support but they told me there is a problem with my hardware and I can't understand how that could be since it was working fine just a short while ago and I didn't do anything to it. Nothing has been spilt on it and it hasn't been hit or anything. By the way, I am typing this with an on-screen keyboard which explains the spaces. Quite annoying. I hope someone can help me. Thanks.

My Yoga 920 Glass edition has a very audbibly differnet backspace key press sound (and feel) compared to every other key on my keyboard. The key functions but makes quite the annoying sound when it is pressed. I took the key off to examine the hinge, and noticed that I could a pretty loud sound simply by pressing the rubber piece and tapping my finger on part of the plastic hinge. I am not sure what to do at the moment to make this get any better. Would replacing they key help, or do I have a bad deisgn? I know that there are actually 4 variants of the keyboard design. Does your keyboard make a noticably different sound when you press the backspace key?

Called for service of the laptop and the component is replaced and the network adapter is fine for now. After reset my sensors of the system stopped working like the auto rotate, the accelometer etc. I'm unable to find the fix for this. I have tried disabling-enabling, uninstalling and updating the driver settings in Device Manager - Sensors. The person who came for replacing the network adapter does not know either, he suggested resetting the system again. Can anyone please give me a solution to this problem. For last few days, the certain keys like T,Y, Shift, Backspace etc..started mulfunctioning. It will work sometimes but it won't work sometimes. This issue persists for few days, but on a day, when i was typing important documentation , my backspace key started mulfunctioning again and tried multiple times by pressing it as it is urgent work to be completed on time. The same key got popped out after multiple tries. My laptop is under warranty until 2019. So i took my laptop for service in an authorized service centre. They said the keypad keys malfunctioing due to the some issue in chip but the same can't replaced under warranty as one of my key was popped out. They said that even if we fix the backspace key which is popped out , other keys wont work as the issue is with keypad chip. My question is why i need to pay for the keypad change as the keypad issue is not only with the popped out key. Actually the key is popped out after the keypad was already got defect. Please help me how to claim a warranty for this case

I've had my TPY for a little over a year without any issues, but today I lost the ability to use the following keys: Backspace, Windows, Left-Shift, T, Y, Tab, Capslock, [, ]  in addition to some of the function keys. Using the onscreen keybaord or an external usb keyboard works just fine. I am unable to use the tab key at the BIOS screen, so it appears to be a hardware issue. This seems to be a common problem for these keys in particular for various Lenovo models and even some Dells. I have tried reinstalling the keyboard drivers as suggested in other posts, and I have tried reseating the keyboard connection according to this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PxHKvpI8Wvc I bought this unit from the MS store with only a 1 year warranty (which is now up), so I'm not sure what to do. I can try replacing the keyboard but it appears others have had only limited success with replacement. Has anyone else dealt with this problem?

On my Thinkpad Yoga S1, the keys t, y, backspace, enter, caplock, and left shift are suddenly not working. This seems to be a common problem on lenovo computers, but the lenovo forum administrator closed the only thread that attempted to address this without any solution. The lenovo admin said that too many diferent models were involved. I don't understand why these exact specific keys are affected on so many Lenovo models. Lenovo has no solution, and will not support a thread to work towards one. The Microsoft store already replaced my keyboard under warrenty over a year ago, but the YTP S1 is now out of warrenty. This does not seem to be a hardware problem given the relatively recent Keyboard replacement. Does anyone have any suggestions? I wont buy another Lenovo if this problem cant be solved. I've had tremndous problems with this computer and have found Lenovo to be unhelpful/unresponsive. This was an expensive computer when it was purchased.

Since you have to hunt around different Lenovo sites (and other sites) to find out about these softwares, I decided to make a post to get feedback from actual Yoga owners on how these programs interact, what they do, which ones are prerequisite, and which ones are unnecessary. Please don't take this as a blanket answer. This is just what I have found. It might be right - it might be wrong. I'm looking for others to post their experiences as well. Lenovo System Interface Foundation Driver - Necessary prerequisite (missing driver in device manager without it). It allows the Lenovo Utility and Lenovo Companion to work. Lenovo Yoga Mode Control - Necessary if you want to use your yoga to seemlessly change between all the different modes (laptop, tablet, tent, stand). This software is responsible for autorotating and putting Windows into tablet mode. Lenovo Utility - Recommended(?) This one I'm not too sure on. I remember that I was missing some function that I wanted but I can't remember what it was now. Maybe battery cycle count and health? Lenovo Companion - I don't have this one installed and don't think it's necessary but would like someone else to shed some light here.

I broke one of the "feet" on my old E-Machines PS/2 keyboard I have used for years and like. I also use one at work that's pretty close to the same layout. I am looking everywhere for a keyboard with a large "enter" and "backspace" I can't find one. I don't care if it's USB or PS/2 but hate the "flat" type that ship with computers these days you look at the key to hard and it presses. I have HUGE hands and like the "old style" keyboard that you have to press pretty hard on the keys (like an actual spring under them) Do any of you know of a specialty keyboard shop or somewhere else with a big selection? I have looked all over the internet on the "major" places. (i.e. Newegg, TigerDirect, BestBuy, Wal-Mart, etc...)

If anyone knows of a place that has "old style" keyboards please let me know. I may have to settle but for such a small purchase that I use so much, I'd like to get what I want and I can't be the only one with massive hands having these same issues. The world isn't made for us big guys.

Hi kartik468 ,
Welcome to the Community Forums ,
For your Y500 laptop , you may check your manual  .
You may turn off the computer first and use the Novo button (number1 page 7) to turn it on.
It would offer the Novo menu for BIOS set up
For the hadware manual , you may click on this (for further reference )
Hope you find this helpful.

It sounds like you might be running windows 10.  Easiest is to boot into windows 10 and then force a complete shutdown.  Hold the shift key while you are powering off.  You can get more time at startup to interrupt.

Hello Dws520Thanks for using the Lenovo forums. Was this the creators update?
If so, have a look on the following post, this should show if your device has been tested with the update yet:
From what I can see, your unit does not seems to have made the list, which leads me to believe that this will be the cause of the issue, I would recommend that you revert back to the previous version of Windows, and observe if the fault still occurs or not.
Hope this helps, let us know how you get on.==================================================================================Did someone help you today? Thank them with a Kudo! If you find a post helpful and it answers your question, please mark it as an "Accepted Solution"!

Disclaimer: I received the Yoga 920 as a review loaner unit from Lenovo. All opinions are my own, nobody is paying for my review, and no one is reviewing this content before it's posted.

Left: Yoga 920 in Bronze. Right: Yoga 910 in Silver
On the surface, both the Yoga 910 and Yoga 920 look nearly identical, but in my testing, I prefer one over the other. Let's dig deeper to see the differences between the two!To get this out of the way, both machines have 1TB PCIe storage, 16GB memory, and the Yoga 910 has the 7th gen i7-7550U processor, and the Yoga 920 has the 8th gen i7-8550U processor.
Hardware & Design
Both the Yoga 910 and Yoga 920 are built out of aluminum, which gives them a high quality feel to them.  Both laptops have the keyboard integrated into the chassis, which means less keyboard flex. One thing that I find better in the Yoga 920 is the fact that it's all smooth edges around.  The Yoga 910 has pretty sharp edges which means you could scratch your surface or yourself.  The sharp edges of the Yoga 910 was a common complaint, and I'm glad they rectified it.
The Yoga 920 also has a little slit on the display lid that makes it much easier to open the lap... Read more

I've been looking around and found a few people who are very displeased with the logo startup/boot logo (example1, example2), but no way to change it as of yet. Is it possible without too much hassle? I know it's not a big deal but the logo is simply terrible in so many ways.
