I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

I would like to know if this model is compatible with the following card:http://www.ebay.com/itm/HP-Ralink-RT3090BC4-802-11b-g-n-WiFi-N-BT-Bluetooth-PCI-e-Card-SPS-602992-00... If not, then what kind of dual band + bluetooth card CAN I get? Also, is my system eligible for Win 10 upgrade? It says upgrade now or later but I have friends with the upgrade making their system freeze, corrupt recovery partitions and refuse to restore. Any help I would LOVE! Oh! Also, How would one partition part of their HDD to be used as RAM and is that even a good idea? I'm learning.

Ok so i have a shot in the dark question, I am not sure on what parts are avalable for this laptop. I just picked this up on a trade and so far has been a pretty decent little machine. It has stock 2.4ghz wifi, which i know is pretty standard. My question is, is there a different internal wifi card i can replace the stock on with that will give me access to both 2.4 ghz and 5.0 ghz. I have been considering going the usb adapter route for both wifi bands but would like to keep some usb ports avalable without needing to get a small hub. Any info would be Appreciated! Thanks

Hi: Below is the link to the service manual for your notebook. http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c03593667 Unfortunately the 3 supported wireless cards listed in chapter 3 are all single band cards. Back when your notebook was produced, HP had a BIOS whitelist which prevents any other wlan card from working other than the ones listed in the service manual.

I'm not exactly sure why or what is the culprit, but I want to attempt to figure out what it is before I send my laptop back, so I know what to expect. I've had this freezing problem since I first got it in June. And it only ever does it if I have a couple active browser windows/tabs open and doing stuff online, AND listening to music. I've tried different music players, winamp pro, heard about foobar2000 and still all the same problem.

I'm tech savvy but as far as figuring out what to do next, and what to run tests for I'm clueless. Please help!!!

does it freeze or does it freeze and bluescreen?

Do you get any error messages of any sort?

My guess would be to try to uninstall and reinstall the chipset/audio/video drivers to see if there is any confusion.

Hi all,

I looked online and I'm still a bit confused whether I should get dual or single band wifi for a laptop that I would like to purchase. Can someone explain to offer a suggestion as to which one is best?

I should get dual or single band wifi for a laptop that I would like to purchaseClick to expand...

do you mean a router
or as part of the laptop spec ?

what router do you have and does it work in dual band simultaneously

the advantage of the 5ghz signal is if you are in a crowded 2.4ghz environment then 5ghz helps avoid interference - also the coverage is wider - although the 5ghz router i have linksys - does not seem to be

if your current router only works in 2.4ghz , then no advantage in the short term

some routers are advertised as dual band - but you have to choose between 2.4 or 5 ghz and so ALL devices will need to support 5ghz

My school has now only got 5ghz wireless and now my laptop doesn't see the wireless network as a result. To fix this I need to upgrade my laptops wireless single band WirelessN card to a dual band AC card with bluetooth preferrably. I don't care if it is an original HP card so long as it fits properly and works. My laptop has an I7 quad core in it, 1 gig DDR5 graphics, 4gig RAM, 15.6" screen.

I just upgraded my laptop wireless adapter from "Broadcom BCM43142" to "Intel Dual Band Wireless-AC 3160 802.11 ac" upon confirmed that the new card is supported from service manual.  Both latest Intel wireless and bluetooth drivers are installed (18.33.0.2 and 18.1.1611.3223 respectively). AC connection works perfectly fine; however, the bluetooth seems to be having issue here.  For pairing and maintain active connection between bluetooth device and laptop, I have to put them right next to each other literally.  Any distance more than 10cm apart, the bluetooth device will be inactive and unusable.  I don't have such problem with Broadcom which I can perform pairing and maintain active connection even a meter apart.  Does anybody face the same issue before with Intel AC 3160 bluetooth?  Or is this a hardware issue with the card itself?

No. Sorry. That model still has the HP BIOS whitelist which will prevent the laptop from booting if anything other than officially sanctioned wireless cards are installed. None of the approved devices is an ac type receiver. Some are combination wifi/bluetooth. Post back if you are interested in locating and installing one of them.

Does anyone know of a dual band WLAN module that works with a United States hp Pavilion g6 (g6-1b59wm) laptop? I've searched the forums and found a little background info, but was never really able to come to a conclusion on my question. I loooked over the hp Pavilion G6 Notebook PC Maintenance and Service Guide (http://h20565.www2.hp.com/hpsc/doc/public/display?docId=emr_na-c02829479) and it appears to list two compatible dual band WLAN modules: 1.) Atheros AR9285 802.11 a/b/g/n 2x2 WiFi adapter - hp Spare Part # 580101-0012.) Realtek 8188BC8 802.11a/b/g/n 2x2 WiFi and Bluetooth 3.0+HS Combo Adapter - hp Spare Part # 602993-001 However, when I search the hp parts website for those two part numbers, they both show up as single band WLAN modules. I know there's a BIOS whitelist for my particular hp laptop that only allows hp approved WLAN modules to be used with the laptop. I know I could go the route of getting a USB dual band capable wifi adapter, but I'd prefer to keep the USB ports on my laptop freed up I'm getting the feeling that there aren't any dual band WLAN modules available for my hp laptop. Any help or clarification would be greatly appreciated.

Hi: Looking at the service manual for your notebook I see a few mistakes... The Atheros and Realtek cards are definitely mislabeled in the manual as dual band (a/b/g/n) cards. They are only single band cards. But the Intel WiFi Link 5100 should be a dual band card, so i think that is mislabled and should be an a/b/g/n card. http://www.intel.com/content/dam/www/public/us/en/documents/product-briefs/wifi-link-5100-brief.pdf Unfortunately, the Intel Wifi Link 5100 wlan card will not work in your particular model because it has AMD hardware. The Intel cards will only work in notebooks with an Intel processor and chipset. So, as I see it, you cannot install an internal dual band wlan card in your notebook because of the BIOS whitelist.

A:Dual Band network card for the Probook 450 G2

Yes it is new enough not to have the whitelist so you can install any wireless card with the right form factor.  Here is the Service Manual: Manual See p. 45. HP offered this one which is the top of the line: Intel Dual Band Wireless-AC 7260 802.11 ac 2x2 WiFi + Intel Dual Band Wireless-AC 7260 BT 4.0 combo adapter 756753-001 Available on Amazon.com: https://www.amazon.com/710661-001-Intel-Wireless-ac-7260-Pci-express/dp/B00PDLCFL8/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1470826413&sr=8-1&keywords=756753-001 This is a drop-in plug and play replacement. You would want to get the driver files on the hard drive (like maybe the desktop) and have them available before you make the swap to be sure the card will work once you reboot Windows. Pick your OS from the drop-down menu here: http://h20564.www2.hp.com/hpsc/swd/public/readIndex?sp4ts.oid=6943827&swLangOid=8&swEnvOid=4059 You need the Intel wireless and Intel bluetooth drivers.  If you need more help post back.  If this is "the Answer" please click "Accept as Solution" to help others find it.

A:Approved dual band card for S410p

Hello and welcome,

The best source I know is the parts list in the Hardware Maintenance Manual - IdeaPad S410p, S410p Touch, S510p, S510p Touch .  WLAN cards are on page 80.  I don't see any that are dual band from the description  - but I haven't checked each one individually.

As you probably know, to pass the BIOS whitelist check a card must be an approved model and have a Lenovo FRU number (firmware modified for Lenovo).

Hey guys and girls. First post in the forum here I'm about to upgrade some parts on my Pav G6 1344sa, namely replace the HDD with a SSD and replace the DVD drive with the HDD, replace the tired keyboard for a new one and upgrade the wifi card for a 5G dual band so i can untilize the speed of my newly installed fibre broadband. After a bit of research i have read there maybe issues getting the Intel AC 7260 card i just ordered to work in this notebook. Can anyone confirm if it will work? I read that some users have used a tweak of covering pin 20 and/or pin 51 with tape to make it compatible, anyone tried this or can explain how this works? Cheers

A:Intel AC 7260 Dual band wi-fi card compatibility

No it will not work and the covering of the pins is actually a Lenovo trick that I have never seen anybody recommend for an HP. I would think it will not work since the problem is a whitelist. The card has to prove to the BIOS what it is, not hide what it is from the BIOS so stopping the identification data from being read will just cause the wifi card to be rejected by the BIOS. As stated, there is a BIOS whitelist and only the specific HP branded wifi cards originally offered with the laptop will pass and allow the system to boot past BIOS. If you want that list just post back.

Hi there!

So about 2 months ago, I purchased the AC53 when I moved in to a house share.
We have Virgin Media SuperHub that does both 2.4ghz and 5ghz.
When I installed it, it worked fine and connected excellently to the 5G band, a few days ago however the 5G connection disappeared off my list and now it always connects me to the 2.4ghz band.

Tried resetting my SuperHub and re-installing the drivers and software utility for the AC53 but alas it doesn't show. My phone however can find and connect to the 5G band.

I'm a bit confused as where to go from here!

Any help would be much appreciated!

Click Start, in the search box type cmd, under programs right click on cmd and select "Run as Administrator".
In the command prompt window type ipconfig /all and press enter.
Next right click within the command prompt and select "Select All" press enter.
Paste the results back in this thread.

OK, this is my first time being a part of or using a tech related forum so here it goes:

I'm trying to help save a neighbor some money by fixing their wireless network.

WNDR3700 Dual band Netgear router.

2.4ghz wireless b/g/n with enabled SSID broadcast, channel=auto, mode set to 130Mbps
WPA-TKIP + WPA2-AES. wireless isolation is not enabled.

5Ghz wireless a/n enabled SSID broadcast, channel = 44, Mode is up to 300Mbps
No security encription. (i know...bad, but the lady has lots of kids and family members coming
and going from the house so she doesn't want one encripted). Video network enabled

Both Radio frequencies are enabled, fragment and CTS/RTS set to max

WPS settings = keep existing.

IPv6 not enabled, No repeating is enabled, No guest networks are enabled(however ssid broadcast is enabled for guest profile 1)
The problem, and reason for fixing the problem is that the 2.4 Ghz band light on the router is ON however the SSID is not being seen by any client in the house. the netgear interface says it is on and working. the neighbor needs the 2.4ghz band to work because the printer is wireless and will only recognize 2.4Ghz SSIDs. Also they have older nintendo DS clients they would like to use on the network.

During the day the 5 Ghz band works with very seldom (1-2) disconnects while the 2.4 Ghz band wont be visible to any device. in the evening both bands will come online, and very often will every computer get disconnected from either, the 5Ghz band wi... Read more

I'm needing to update my wifi card to a dual band AC & have been unable to find a definitive answer on the compatibilty of Intel cards (specifically the AC-7260) with AMD. Will it work? If not, where can I find the best upgrade options? Is there any type of list of compatible upgrade options anywhere? I have the U-Verse 1G & a Netgear Nighthawk AC 1900 & currenlty max out at around 45mbs down via wireless. I can consistently get around 600-650mbs down via ethernet. I tried the Netgear A6210 usb wifi adapter (dual AC) & it worked for a while (400-450mbs) but now I'm having detection issues with it (apparently pretty common) & I'm tired of having to deal with the dongle anyway. Any help would be greatly appreciated

My Billion BiPAC 7800VDOX Dual Band Wireless VoIP ADSL2+ Router has two bands:  2.4GHz and 5GHz.  and is wirelessly connected to my laptop OMEN by HP Laptop PC  17-w007tx.  It always shows as connected via 5GHz band only.  My laptop also shows 5GHz band only in the list of available networks;  2.4GH does not show up in the list of available networks.  It is not so in my other laptop which is also connected to the same router and that laptop shows both the bands in the list of available networks.  Thus, I can choose to connect to any of the two bands as per my choice. I have tested the router and it is working perfectly; there is nothing wrong with it.I wonder what can possibly be wrong in my OMEN laptop that it does not show both the bands which it should. At times, when I click to open the list of available networks, 2.4GHz may appear momentarily only and then disappears; thus I can not choose it for connection. I would appreciate any help to resolve this issue so that my OMEN laptop shows both the bands in the list of available networks so as to choose either one for connection.

N600 Wireless Dual Band Router WNDR3400.

I am trying to get a signal out in my garage at the opposite end of my router location. I am getting 1 bar and "poor" signal. I downloaded inSSIDer to analyse my signal and I notice that my "Wireless Network (5GHz a/n)" is not broadcasting anything. The checkbox for "Enable SSID Broadcast" is checked.

I have very limited knowledge of this stuff but it seems to me that if it is a dual band that I should be seeing 2 different signals, right?

All I see is this: Wireless Network (2.4GHz b/g/n)

I have attached screenshot of my settings

Can someone help me out with this? Thanks, Joe

Hello guys, I want to update my computer to have a Bluetooth 4.0 connection, i've tryed some PCI-e boards but It was not compatible...Do you know any PCI-e board wifi and Bluetooth 4.0 that is compatible with Pavilion G6? Thank you

A:Wifi and Bluetooth module for Pavilion G6

Need exact model and the big question is whether it is in the "whitelist" era. Generally anything with a 4th gen Intel Core or newer is past the whitelist and you can install any wireless or wifi-bluetooth card of the same form factor as long as you have at least 2 antennae which I believe the G6 models do.

I have a 1440p monitor and was wondering if there is any way to get up to that resolution of 2560 x 1440. The max resolution I can get to is 1920x1080 using extend desktop or using only monitor 2. All drivers are up to date. In the manual it says the max resolution supported by the hdmi, which is what I'm using, is 1920 x 1200, but my graphics card is not listed in the manual, which is the 7690m xt. And before you ask, yes all my drivers are up to date, even though the amd display driver is from 2011. I've also tried the other output which is vga, again maxing out at 1080p.

Hi, Your machine was built long way before mid 2014. The chance to change wireless card is from slim to none. Do you know the whitelist story don't you ? Regards.
