Computer freezes when playing video, music and games.

Q: Computer freezes when playing video, music and games.

I've installed the latest driver 4 my gfx card (integrated) , I've scanned with kaspersky, panda, avg, ad-aware and windows defender and I've cleaned up my registry and disk with Ccleaner.

I've got 223 MB RAM, which seems to get eaten up as fast as heck during start-up and afterwards, so I downloaded XP FreeRAM Pro or w/e. It got 4 stars on download.com and IMO it works well. Computer temps are within safe levels (40 -55c max) and it makes no distinct sounds when frozen. When it freezes, the screen stays still and sound turns off. Basic functions like turning on the CAPS lock light are working. I've got my PC tuned up for fast performance, no desktop BG, no window effects (it looks like windows 98) only 4 desktop icons (including the mystring thing). I only got ZoneAlarm firewall, AVG and FreeRam on my taskbar. Still slow, sometimes. I dunno what else to do.

I'm running on an AMD Duron, with VIA motherboard (with S3 Unichrome integrated gfx)
and VIA AC97 audio controller (which i haven't found an update for).

Any suggestions? Thx in advance.

Oh, and it freezes on low-end games. Pharaoh only needs 32 MB RAM and I can't run it w/o freezing it's maddening.

Preferred Solution: Computer freezes when playing video, music and games.

I recommend downloading and running DAP. It can help sort out any driver and firmware related issues on your system

It's worked out well for many of us in the past.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloaddap.org. (This link will open the download page of DAP so you can save a copy to your computer.)

So lately,
I've had a problem with video games. They would freeze and only way to turn of my computer is through the power cable or power switch on back of desktop. I've beenexperiencing this problem for awhile now. When I watch videos (for example, abc.go),play pc games, or listen to music (itunes), my computer would randomly freeze up and make a loud sound. The audio would sound like abroken record and I can't exit out so I have to do a hard shut down on mycomputer. Also, I notice my internet connection is slower than usual. I do havevirus/spyware protection and I have scaned to see if there was a virus, but itshows nothing serious. My computer is about 2 years old. I've had an issue for the last few months of my computer freezing and requiring a hard reset while playing video games. It has happened while playing Farcry 3, Diablo III, and most often while playing Hawken.
I had an issue with malware/spyware, but I think we've cleared that issue up thanks to the help I received in this thread: http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/t/505982/slow-computerfreezes-while-playing-games/page-2#entry3167469

Just as the title suggests, I literately made an account for this site specifically to see if I can get any help on this problem.
My computer freezes randomly only while playing video games, the freeze isn't a blue screen or a crash, the computer literately freezes to something like a screenshot of what I was doing in game and nothing I can do except restarting the computer can unfreeze it. Sometimes a similar freeze occurs while playing, then 2 seconds later it unfreezes as if the computer is lagging behind the game play, making me believe that this problem is either caused by the OS or the graphics card (my power supply is brand new, but it is a possibility). This is very difficult to to troubleshoot since the freeze is random, but I can conclude that the freeze occurs usually after 2-3 hours of playing.
One solution I attempted was turning off Link State Power Management but it didn't work.

I have recently purchase a new system ( 2 weeks back). All hardware is brand new except for the graphics card.
The hardware specs are:
OS: Win 7 64 bit Service Pack 1
PSU: GX-650 watt
RAM: 8 GB DDR3 Kingston Single stick
Processor: Intel Core i5 4670k 4th generation 3.4 ghz
Graphics: Nvidia XFX Gts 250 512 mb
Motherboard: Intel DB85FL
Hard Drive: Seagate 1 T.B

Ok, Now the problem is that whenever I play any video game (such as GTA IV, Devil may Cry DMC, Metro: Last Light), my computer screen just freezes after 5 to 10 minutes of gameplay. My keyboard and mouse stops working and the sound just stops. Only way to get out of this freeze is to restart the system manually. Recently I put out my graphics card from the motherboard and played the above mentioned games with intel hd graphics 4600 (Built-in) and no freeze occur whatsoever and I played for hours.

But my gpu never had any of these problems when it was installed in my old system and games works just fine. Need to mention that my gpu is PCI-E 2.0 and my motherboard supports a PCI-E 3.0 graphics card. I have read many forums that motherboards have backward compatibility and can run 2.0 cards as well. Also used windows memory diagnostic tool and it did'nt find any problems with the ram.I have also stressed the graphics card using Furmark but my gpu temp. reaches to abotu 100"C and I stopped the test.

Please help me out here because I dont want to purchase a new card and I am just curious that it might b... Read more

A:Computer Screen freezes only while playing video games....Help

Since you have already tested your system without the video card and it works fine for hours Also that when u ran furmark your Video card temps went out of control
now Since you don't want to purchase a new video card I would say to add a fan to cool your video card and see what happens
At this point it is looking like your video card is the issue and the games such as metro last light is a very heavy game even on ultra low settings which will push your video card causing it to over heat and freezes

HI all. I am new to this so please excuse any errors. I have a P4 3gig, 1gig ram, 256 graphics (or is it 512? Can't remember), 180 gig hard drive pc that I had custom built for me just over a year ago. Since I had it, I have had loads of problems with it. Most have been sorted out by the shop that built it for me (I have had to take it back 6 times in the past year) but this problem persists. Whenever I play a game (be it Rome Total War, Football Manager 2006 or Doom 3!), listen to music on WMP or iTunes, stay on net for a prolonged period of time, look at pictures or movies, then it freezes. I hear a couple of 'beeps' then it freezes. If I press reset, the PC just makes a long beep noise so I need to switch the power off from the back. This happens regularly.

The last time I returned it they appeared to have fixed the problem. They said that it was a heat sink problem. Got it back from the shop and it appeared to be working perfectly, better than it has before. But low and behold, it problem has returned. My 1 year warranty has now ran out and I would like to attempt to fix it myself before going somewhere else and having to pay for it to be fixed. Does/has anyone here have/had the same problem and how did they fix it? Any help you give will be greatfully received.

Hello there!
First I must say I'm not really sure if this is an actual hardware issue. I had my (Win 10) computer for approx. 1.5 year and I didn't have this problem until recently. When I play music I get this static noise glitches, in case of video the glitches of audio track and video track are in sync. It can range from barely noticeable glitch to around 1-2 second glitches (the ones after which you'd expect to get bluescreen, I never do).
While I could get use to this, the glitches make my computer almost unusable for VR gaming (Vive). As you can imagine it could be motion sickness inducing experience if the video jitters and skips frames every other second not following actual movements of your body. The issue seems to be more severe for VR than regular gaming. It also takes ages to load VR games for some reason (compared to regular games).

The reason why I think this might be hardware issue, more specifically issue with electricity wiring in my apartment is that the fridge situated in the same room as computer stopped working approx. month after I started to have the issue with my PC.

I'd appreciate any suggestions!

Hello, I've been having problems for quite some time now and upon google search after search there doesn't seem to be an answer. When the audio is on, for videos, games, music, etc. it sometimes "skips" like an old cd player. Its pretty obnoxious, and I'm wondering why exactly this is so. I'm assuming I have an old driver or something, because I upgraded my pc from win 7 to win 8 pro. Thanks for the help and let me know if anyone needs clarification!

A:Jittery sound when playing music/video games (Win 8 Pro)

Audio is always on a shared Interrupt (IRQ) with a higher priority device. Depending on the shared device, it can "interrupt" the audio and cause skipping.

If you have the HP supplied IDT audio driver for Win 7, it is also compatible for Win 8. However, check the Device Manager and see what devices are listed in the Sound section. You should ONLY have the correct IDT sound driver and possibly HDMI audio (if your system has this) and nothing else. If "HD Audio Codec" (the generic Windows installed sound driver) is also listed, or any other sound, except the IDT and possibly HDMI, uninstall those as they can cause conflicts and other audio problems. Restart the PC if you uninstalled anything.

If you only have the correct entries in the sound, RIGHT click on the entry for the IDG and then LEFT click "Uninstall" (do not uninstall the drivers). Then restart the PC and when Windows starts it will detect and reinstall the sound. This will fix any potential corruptions between Windows and the sound and sometimes will put the sound on a different shared IRQ and fix or mimimize any interruptions.

Rather than post a ZIP file of items, we usually just post screen shots. Screenshots and Files - Upload and Post in Eight Forums

Windows will crash to BSOD after about 10-15 minutes of playing a game, listening to music, or watching video. This started happening about a month ago. Up until then everything was fine. I though I found some people with the same problem when I search on Google, but updating their BIOS fixed their problem, it didn't fix mine.

I have updated all of the drivers I could think of and flashed my BIOS to the newest version on the ECS website (I have an ECS KA3 MVP motherboard). This didn't fix the problem. I also made sure I downloaded the Vista driver from Nvidia for my graphics card. I have also run a Memtest and had not errors, and I ran a video card stability test and everything was fine (didn’t even crash). I checked all of the temperatures on the restart and they are all in normal operating range. Here is what the BSOD says everytime.

Okay, so I purchased a brand new computer (in parts) from NewEgg. I got:

Gigabyte GA-990XA-UD3 R Motherboard

Galaxy GTX550TI Video Card 2GB DDR5

Zephyr MX-750 (750 Watts)

AMD 6-core FX-6100 3.3Ghz Processor

A single 8GB 1333Mhz DDR3 RAM stick

A 1 TB Hard drive which I used as my main, and I owned a previous 1TB Hard Drive which I am using as my secondary.

I'm using Windows 7 Ultimate. I've played Guild Wars, League of Legends, and Skyrim, and anywhere between 10-60 minutes, my pc will crash, freezing up completely and the sound will get stuck. I've gone 8+ hours with the PC on while in the Skyrim Construction set, using Microsoft Word, and browsing the net. At one point, I got the Blue Screen of Death (Only 1 incident) with the following code: 0x0000001E

I've updated everything, video card, motherboard, any windows component, updated. I ran my antivirus in case I brought anything from the old 2ndary HD, nada. There have also been a couple cases where we could smell something hot. Not burning, just hot.

It continued to freeze when I tried to play ANY game, so I sent the video card back. Had to be the video card, what else could it be? I got the new one today. It lasts longer, but it continues to freeze when playing any video games. I have part replacement/refund from NewEgg for another 20 days, I need to figure this out now. Help!!!

What freaks me out is that EVERYTHING is new. No idea what I can do in this particular situation.

Randomly, when I am playing a video game on my computer, generally ones with higher quality graphics, my computer will freeze or the monitor will go into a sleep-like state, even though it is set not to do so. When it freezes it will usually, after 20 secs or so, goto the desktop and have an error about VPU Recover and something with an error report. When the monitor goes into a sleeplike state I have to restart my computer.

My system specs are
AMD Athlon 64 3200+
512 MB RAM
ATi Radeon 9600 Pro

I am using WinXP Pro.

Anyone have any clue whats going on and how to fix it? Thanks!

Hello, recently after installing Diablo III I noticed that my performance began to dip a little bit - a few extra seconds here and there on load time, but nothing major. It got worse over the span of a week, until finally the computer freezes within about twenty to forty minutes of graphics card usage such as playing a game or watching a video. Simply idling causes the computer to freeze or crash after about an hour, even when booting in safe mode. The most common result is that the screen will freeze, with a loud buzzing noise looping in the audio until I manually reset the computer, if left to its own devices sometimes it resolves as a BSOD.

Nothing is overclocked, no temperature readings go above 45 degrees even during times of heavy stress, I've removed all the dust and verified all components are connected correctly.

The OS is Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit, OEM
The entire rig was custom built a year ago, with Windows 7 installed a year ago to an SSD and a secondary HD for storage. Neither drive has been reformatted. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thank you very much.

Win 8x64. I play music a lot with foobar2000 - mp3 files, CDs - most often but not always using its ASIO/JPlay device and driver; i.e., I also use JPlay (service + process + settings - JPLAY - hi-end audio player for Windows). Lately, I've had some computer freezing problems and that's why I write. For example, before leaving for the weekend, I played music for 13 hours, no problem. Returning home yesterday, starting the computer and then the music in exactly the same fashion, within minutes I started getting a string of computer freezes, all occurring when music was playing.

On a previous occasion, I had run a few malware scans that turned up nothing, so I tried to isolate the problem by removing pieces step by step, starting with getting JPlay out of the way, so it was foobar alone, but none worked (my working hunch has been that the problem is foobar itself or the ASIO/JPlay combo getting corrupted somehow). Finally, I uninstalled and reinstalled foobar again and it played ok, although I didn't let it go for long enough to be sure. Then I added JPlay and things seemed ok for awhile, then came back after 90 minutes to find a freeze.

You have a soundcard that uses ASIO?

Well, you can test it is it the Audio hardware, by installing VLC Media Player - Set it up to use the ASIO driver for Audio, you have to go into preferences and show "all" - Then go to Audio and check the box for "Use S/PDIF when available" - That should shunt your audio through the S/PDIF into your ASIO, there are also other settings to choose ASIO - If you go to "Output Modules" you will be able to choose that ASIO device in the settings for DirectX and WaveOut.

Then play a few MP3's and see if it hangs up at all, I would stick a whole playlist in there and run it for at least half an hour. This will at least tell you if the Audio device is working correctly.

You should also check your settings in the program you are using, make sure it is finding the device and using it properly, and not using "Microsoft Soundmapper"

Hey 7Forums,

After my last graphics card has died on me (HD6850), I have been able to borrow a friends GFX Card (HD5770) and have been having a strange problem - this problem is not unique to my computer, it also was happening in his computer when using the same GFX Card.

Right on to the problem:
What happens is that the computer will be running just fine, until I open a game.
After opening a game it will run perfectly but then every minute of so it will freeze the whole computer for maybe 5-10 seconds. Whilst doing this the sound of hardware being removing and reinserting will play (the same sound that happens if you was to unplug and re insert a usb stick)
And then this will persist as long as I have the game open, closing the game makes the problem go away.
This has only been happening since using this GFX card, and want to know if these is anyway of fixing it.
Thanks in advance,

Alright so the issue seems to be getting worse, sometimes it works sometimes it doesnt. Usually i have to end up keep restarting the computer over and over after each lock-up until i finally get lucky and it doenst lock up. Sometimes it bluescreens me and sometimes it restarts the PC also. Rarely it will do it when not playing games.
I've tryed about everything i can think of doing that you would normally do when these problems first occur
I've cleaned out the PC, took vid card out then put back in, tryed new monitor, used advanced system care to clean my PC and registry up etc, nothing has helped so far.

Im starting to think something is wrong with the video card, altho my BIOS needs a update but i dont know if that has anything to do with this, and i really dont know how to update BIOS anyways. Could also be the power supply altho its 650 watts so idk, its not realy old neither only around a year or so
Im using Windows XP professinoal 32 BIT SP2
Video card is Nvidia Geforce 8600 GT if that is of any help
By the way overheating is not an issue, ive checked temperatures on most things in PC, and PC chip si running around 27 celcius-30 celicius always.

Any help is appreciated, thanks.

First, we here at TechSpot strongly suggest you update to SP3.

Second, we also take the position that when it somes to the registry to leave it alone. More problems occur when the registry is touched than is ever fixed.

Third, please do the following...

How to find and post your Minidump Files:

My Computer > C Drive > Windows Folder > Minidump Folder > Minidump Files.

It is these files that we need (not the folder). Attach to your next post the five most recent dumps. Notice the Manage Attachments button at the bottom when you go to post the next time. You can Zip up to five files per Zip; if you only have one or two you don?t need to zip them, just attach as is. Please do us a favor and don?t Zip each one individually.

Hey this is my first post, however this isn't a new problem concerning my computer.

It has become an annoying a frequent occurance on my computer. The problem is that whenever I play a game it will just freeze on screen *game picture will remain* and of course I will have to manually restart the computer. I have looked all over for a solution to this problem, in vain. I have run "dxdiag" "msconfig" in the Run menu, and i've tweaked with that every which way, and nothing has seemed to solve the problem. This has not always been an issue with my computer. When I first got my computer all games ran fine, without freezing. I have recently got my computer fixed, and restored, and I had them put in 256 MB Ram, along with my previous 256. However to my dismay when I started to play games the freezing continued.

The games I play are:
Battlefield: Vietnam
Counter Strike
Day of Defeat
Call Of Duty
Max Payne 2
Iron Storm
Soldier Of Fortune 2 *Demo, which was the first game to freeze*

I really have no idea what is wrong with my computer, and I love playing on-line games, so if anyone can suggest anything, it would be really appretiated!

P.S....I have also tryed a cleanboot of the system to get rid of all back- running programs, and it still continued to freeze.

I have uploaded Dxdiag as an attachment.

Thank you for any information

There may be an issue with your Realtek HD audio driver. Do you have any yellow exclamation points in the device manager?

My computer freezes when ever it plays games or occasionally videos. I have done tests on the cpu, ram and graphics. Everything works fine until the graphics gets to the PhysX test then the computer freezes. It isn't overheating because it only gets to around 53 degrees when it freezes and on non-PhysX tests I can get it over 75 degrees and still run smoothly. The computer was knocked off the desk so I am wondering if I may have damaged the motherboard or graphics card. I put my mates graphics card in to see if that would make a difference and it would freeze on simple things like internet browsing.
I have an intel I7-3820, an asus p9x79 motherboard, a Nvidia Geforce GTX 560 graphics card and 8gb of DDR3 1600mhz RAM.

A:Computer freezes when playing games.

must be a problem with the graphic card,, sometimes intermittent problems wont just be about not show up any display but also things like that...
if it is still covers the warranty then have it replace,,,

Hey Guys,

I recently bought a Dell Inspiron 570. Its processor is AMD Athlon II X4 630 at 2.8 GHZ

Whenever I play games such as Call of Duty or FIFA 11, the screen falters and everything freezes. After a few seconds, the screen becomes a board of checkers in all the colors you can imagine.

I have tried calling Dell but their help is useless at best.

Is it my ATI Radeon 4200? Is it the actual screen?

I would really appreciate your help and ideas.

One more thing, a friend suggested I use the BurnIn test program and even during the running of the test, the same problem happened without finding out the results.

If I should simply buy a higher performance video card, let me know. Thanks for your help and ideas.

THe link below will show you a picture of what my screen looks like during this problem.

A:Computer freezes when playing games

Some questions first....Is it a full tower? Do you have a PCIE slot? Do you have a decent(over 500 watts) power supply or the stock Psu?
Do you have any 6pin power connectors?

Ok, I got a new computer recently ad it crashes when I play games. It is an AMD Sempron 3000+ with 512 MB of RAM and a Radeon 9600 videocard. The game I am mostly playing is Warcraft 3, fully patched an I know that my computer can run it, as my old computer with a 400MHZ proccessor could with only chopping, never crashing. When it crashes the game just freezes on the screen. I have scanned with all of my antivirus and antispyware programs, and removed all spyware and viruses found. The computer only sewms to freeze during gameplay, and spikes during it too. This happens on LAN games, online games and single-player ones. SO, do you have any clue on how I can fix this. The computer also has a few rare spikes when not playing games, but it never freezes. So does anyone have any idea why this is happening? Any hlp would be appreciated, thanks.

A:Computer freezes when playing games

get a newer version of catalyst drivers ( i use the 4.12's, other version of catalyst drivers caused freezing problems with simple games)

or you could try the 5's cause they are out

Since you said that your computer also experiences similar problems when you arent playing a game, see if your computer is overheating.

Okay, BF2 used to be fine when i bought it. It worked crash-free for 7 months. Now i bought a new case with 6 led 120mm fans, and when i play BF2 for about 20 mins my computer freezes! I can't do anything not even the off and on button in front of the case works. I think its my power supply. Any suggestions?

PS. 400watt power supply.

Welcome to TSF....

400 Watt is usually ok but when adding all of the lights and extra fans might be doing it in and not knowing how good quality it PSU is leaves me wondering. I suggest a higher wattage PSU.

Hey guys and girls. I was hoping to get some help with an issue my husband has with his computer. It tends to freeze up completely during gaming. Whenever I play games, like Warcraft III or Half life, my computer will freeze. In Warcraft it freezes when starting the game and in Half life and other games when I leave a server. This has been happening only since I reinstalled my graphics card and installed new drivers. I have tried reinstalling the drivers and going back to old drivers and that doesn't work. I have already turned down the AGP speed to 4X speed from 8X speed because my Mother Board can't handle the 8X speed. I've also tried installing newer motherboard drivers. My computer specs are a Soyo K7VME Motherboard with a AMD XP 2600+ processor, 256 MB of DDR 333 Mhz ram, and a ATI Radeon 9500 Pro graphics card.

When this happens, is it like the whole system (including OS) is stuck or just the game?

Please go to Control Panel, Administrative Tools, and open Event Viewer, go through system/applications logs, and see whether you can find something which can help us get to the root of this issue. Especially look for the events marked with yellow/red icons.

Also, do you remember when exactly did this started to happen e.g. an driver update?

I'm new to this forum and it is probably going to be the best place to get help for my problem.

I'm not sure if this has been posted/asked before as the search wouldn't load for me :( so I'm sorry if this has been posted/asked before.

When I play any next gen games such as C&C generals, Dawn of war or any 3d game like that my PC freezes during game play, I would get about 5 minutes of play and it will freeze, my mouse still moves until I click a certain number of times and then the mouse will freeze and the actual PC box will beep once requiring a manual shut down.

I'm not that much of a hardware of PC wizard but this is the only info I have on my PC.

Microsoft Windows XP
Home Edition
Version 2002
Service Pack 2

AMD Sempron(tm) Processor
1.80GHz, 640 MB or RAM

It also has ATI(?) graphics card

If you could help it would be much appreciated as it's really getting me down.

When it freezes, nothing moves at all, and it makes a really wierd noise that differs from whatever i'm doing.

I've updated video drivers, sound drivers, cleaned out all the dust in the computer, tried playing with the side of the case off and nothing seems to be working.

A:Computer freezes up while playing games.

I had the same problem with my computer before. It turned out to be a bad power supply. It wasn't giving my graphic card and CPU enough power when I ran everything on full load. You can find a tool somewhere to see how much power you need. From what I see, you're computer not really a good gaming computer. You only have 2gig ram, 241mb dedicated graphic memory.

Hi, I'm hoping someone can solve this one for me, my computer works fine until I try to play a game, then it freezes, sometimes 5 minutes into the game and sometimes longer, but it will eventually freeze, it's becoming very frustrating, do you think it could be the graphics card because it only freezes when i try to play a game. thanks

also I should mention that my graphics card is a nvidia geforce 7600gt and was brought second hand, but worked fine when I first got it about 2 months ago.

Recently I have had an issue with my computer running very poorly.
First, when opening Chrome it takes much longer than usual just to load the home page. The home page is an AVG Safe Search version of Chrome, not sure what that is about. Also, when opening a link it takes extremely long to load, and sometimes needs to be refreshed to get the page to load.
I have also developed a problem with the computer freezing while playing certain games. Most recently both Hawken and Farcry 3 have frozen, requiring a hard reset. I built this computer as a gaming PC, and it should be adequate to play these games without these issues. I've tried playing with the graphics on the lowest settings, and still have the same issues.
Please let me know what information you need to help me.
Thanks in advance for your help and expertise,
Edit: I also just noticed an "AVG Coupons" little pop-up in the lower right corner of the screen.

Maybe it doesn't stop after 30 minutes I was play counter Strike source and it took over an hour before it froze up please help. Thanks

A:Computer freezes after 30 minutes of playing games

Sounds like either a heat problem, or a psu problem.

Check your temps.

Is your psu putting out enough power for your system?

I see from your specs that you have a 380watt psu. Is it a good quality psu, or a cheap no name brand that came with your case?

Take a look at this psu wattage calculator HERE Remember to add a further 30% to what ever figure it gives you. This is because even a good quality psu will only achieve around 70% efficiency. A cheap psu wont achieve anywhere near that.

You might also want to take a look at this excellent article on psu`s.The psu thread.

I'm at my wits end and I'm about to throw out a perfectly good computer over this problem. For the last few weeks, my computer has been freezing while playing video games. I'm not a hardcore gamer, I mostly play World of Warcraft and the Sims. At first I thought it was an issue with WoW until I deiced to play the Sims earlier this week and had my system freeze. I'm wondering if it's a problem with my internet, since I'd been having issues with that for a few months now.
Basically what happens is I open the game, log in, select what character I want to log onto, get past the load screen and anywhere within a few seconds to about 40 mins my computer will completely lock up. Sometimes I can get it to unlock by opening task manager and force the game to close, sometimes I have to hold the start button to force a reboot to get back into my system. I've updated Windows to v.1511. I've updated my graphics card, my motherboard, and anti-virus. I've opened my comp up and completely cleaned the inside and have been running with the side of the case open. I would say that my system is getting hot but I've logged onto WoW as soon as my computer would let me and it's locked up, so I think that rules that out.
I've attached the two files that are usually asked for, I also attached two screen shots of a random popup I keep getting, It's been showing up since I upgraded to Windows 10. I've been ignoring it but it could be the issue?

Hi, ok here's my problem about six months ago i bought my pc, a pakard bell imedia 2426, and it was working mostly fine apart from on the higher spec games it would crash, i would loose all control and have to restart the computer, this didn't bother me much as it was rare, but it has started to occur more often.

I soon relised however that even though it would freeze and i would loose all control, if left for a time that seems to be between 1 minute and 3 minutes (different everytime) it would resume as normal and execute any commands i had given in the frozen time (eg control-alt-delete, or alt F4). I thought this odd but lived with it as it was still only on higher spec games and only occured about once an hour.

However recently its been happening more often and on lower spec games, it is becoming very anoying. Does anyone know what could be causing it?

One more thing, for most games after a freeze no game time has passed, although on an online game (i recently started a trial on lotr online) or any other game played online real time obviously still happens, which makes it virtually impossible to play. It may also be worth mentioning that the sound either stops or loops continually when frozen, although in the case of lotr online the music continues as normal.

Hello, I'm hoping that I can get some insight on how to fix an issue with my PC.
Recently, while playing video games, the game will lock up periodically for one to three seconds. The game window will sometimes grey out and have "Not responding" in the bar up top. While this is happening, the game sound that was playing with play a half second loop through the duration of the freeze. The game will then resume after this short time. In Hearthstone, these freezes seem to happen randomly before a spell effect happens, or upon switching turns. Maybe just coincidence. In WoW and League of Legends, it just happens when it feels like it.
This issue has started just recently, and I haven't made any modifications to the machine prior to the issue.
I keep the heat sinks and whatnot inside free of dust with canned air regularly, and core temperatures according to the "Core Temp" program tells me that the max temp reached is 52.
In attempts to rectify the issue, I've uninstalled and re-installed the graphics drivers, but to no avail.
I'm running Windows 7 Professional
8GB ram
64 bit system
Samsung SSD 840 EVO 250gb solid state (operating system installed)
Western Digital 1tb HD
Intel® Core™ i7-4770K CPU @ 3.50GHz, 3501 Mhz, 4 Core(s), 8 Logical Processor(s)
Gigabyte Technology Z87X-D3H motherboard

Please let me know what I can do to troubleshoot/fix this issue, and thank you in advance!

After playing a while (, maybe after an hour or so), my computer freezes. No hints on when it will happen, no symptoms, nothing.
