DirectX9c Problem (missing DSOUND.dll problem/driectX9c wont download)

Q: DirectX9c Problem (missing DSOUND.dll problem/driectX9c wont download)

Alright to star off, I have been spending like a week trying to figure this out, and i finally decided to come here for some help...

First off I have a missing DSOUND.dll problem, i noticed how people say it can be fixed simply by reinstalling DirectX, well when i try to reinstall it, a message like this pops up during it:

"An internal System error occured.
Please refer to DXError.log and DirectX.log in your Windows folder to determine the problem."

Now im not sure what exactly what this means... BUT i did get a some type of system error report and i added it to this post, maybe someone can figure out whats going on and could help me determine whats wrong with my PC using that..

Thanks, let me now ASAP!!!

Preferred Solution: DirectX9c Problem (missing DSOUND.dll problem/driectX9c wont download)

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Have you done a Search for DSOUND.dll ?

There should be copies in at least 2 other places.

If so, copy and paste one to the C:\Windows\System32 folder.

So I am on Window XP 64x edition

Due to certain issue, my previous version of directX was removed with DirectX Eradicator 2.0

I tried the directX rollback wizard with the CD, it doesn't work.

I also manually downloaded directx_feb2010_redist.exe from the microsoft website, which also doesn't work. Here's the error message it gives me.

Hey,

I installed a program by the name of Ventrilo. (www.ventrilo.com) It is a voice communication program. It used to ALWAYS work for me. I had just recently reformated my computer (system recovery) and I went to install Ventrilo. After a complete installation, I went to open it up. It then tells me: The VETRILO.EXE cannot open because it is linked to a missing export link called DSOUND.DLL:12" So I thought, hmm, maybe I have a corrupt DSOUND.DLL file. I go and download another DSOUND.DLL, and when I go to replace my old one, it says the file is use and cannot be deleted or whatever. So I close out every program open, and make sure nothing is running, and I try to replace it, and it wont let me. So I have no clue how I can get this to work again. I REALLY need help, this isn't the first time this has happened. PLEASE HELP!

Hi, I have no sound on my pc and I was wondering if anyone would be able to help me with it. I was running a scan using IOBIT Security 360 it caught dsound.dll as a trojan so I unwittingly deleted it. Now I get no sound when I play video and music files. When I play music Windows media displays an error saying,"Windows Media Player cannot play the file because there is a problem with your sound device. There might not be a sound device installed on your computer, it might be in use by another program, or it might not be functioning properly." I have tried updating and re-installing DirectX to no avail. I would greatly appreciate it anyone could help me out with this problem.

If you have Vista then they have the drivers for it on the Dell site, i went there myself and you had to choose the type of laptop you had but the only choices it has was Vista 32 and Vista 64 bit, looks like they have not made a drive for XP, you did not say which OS you have

second link has list of drivers, click down load now insted of the other optoin, then choose to down load through your internet browser not the down load manager
Should work

If the game requires a direct x9c card, you probably would need a new video card that supports that.

I ran dxdiag and it says I have direct x 9c, and my version is 4.09.0000.0904, the same as yours, so maybe you do have 9c installed, but the card isn't supported by the game?

Ok so I have a HP Mini 110 and lately my computer has been acting strange. It wont shut down. If I try to shut it down it will act like its shutting down then re boot back up. If it goes to "sleep" (the buttons are still lit, typically the power button will just flash on and off) it wont wake up unless I use the power button.

Now this all started happening when my computer stopped or failed to update my language packs which took 28 hours to fully finish. Only 14 out of the 32 downloaded ok fine so i shut it down to just finish those that were installed. Ok so shutting down then the whole "Dont turn off your computer installing updates" then it gets stuck at 15 % then it goes to a black screen that i think said something like "initiating updates in 0 outta 321472 files" this took a good hour to finish. Then brought me back to the 15% screen then that changed to "Updates Failed" and something else, then the computer restarted.

WHAT DO I DO?? could it possibly be a virus???

Hi I hope someone can help me on here - I've tried for about 2 hours to get a copy of windows 7 working on my old pc and really can't see what the problem is when it comes to doing a clean installation.

It's not "old' only a year old or so with very good specs but I use another machine now so am trying to get this up and running for my parents to use before I go off for uni.

Anyway I'll try and be as clear as possible about the problem.

When I bought the PC a year ago it came with Windows Vista 32-bit but had 4GB ram so obviously this wasn't being used. A friend of mine had bought an extra copy of Windows 7 64 bit from a student deal and offered to put it on my PC. Of course I accepted thinking that it would perform much better with the 64 bit version of windows 7 and would be able to run my 3D applications easier.
The problem came when he was installing it, after formatting the hard drive he was installing it on he restarted it and booted from disk. After choosing a hard drive to install it on (the only one available) it keeps coming up with messages such as:

Setup.exe - Corrupt File
the file or directory
D:\$WINDOWS.~BT\Sources\Rollback\Diagerr.xml is corrup and unreadable.

Then there were other with the extensions: \Setupact.log, \Diagwrn.xml, Setuperr.log

Anyone recognise these and what they could mean? It just closes off after this error message, so I obviously need to deal with this. Maybe another reformat is needed?

I am good with compute... Read more

Hi- I was hoping someone can help me. I originally posted in the possible virus forum and was redirected here...

Some symptoms:
-computer will not shut off or restart, task manager will not appear and i can not shut off the computer using ctrl+alt+del
-desktop went gray
-AVG Free stopped working and began showing these "update have been installed must restart" warnings (but I cannot restart)
-I cannot perform a system restore
-firefox now crashes everytime it is opened, despite an uninstall/reinstall

I use Windows XP Professional on a Toshiba Satellite. Until this morning, I had AVG Free. I uninstalled it because I was afraid that was the problem, but it didnt help.

I have tried: updating XP, checking my drivers, performed a "chkdsk" but could not do a fix.

Any suggestions? I feel like I have tried as much as I can from reading online articles. Please help!!

Hey,

I'm having a bizarre problem with Vista Home 32 bit which suddenly appeared overnight. I put my notebook to sleep the day before, and when I powered it back on this morning, it was on the black & white boot up menu saying the notebook and crashed and had to restart.

I opted to boot windows normally but it kept restarting. Same problem with safe mode.

I tried to repair the installation with the installation disc but that didn't work.

Got to System Restore, tried to restore a previous point, but that failed.

I rebooted again, and miraculously it booted up to the desktop. But I've noticed a few major problems:

1. The program folder in the start menu is empty

2. The system tray has missing icons, most notably network connections

3. A few directories in C:\ are missing . Am sure I didn't delete them.

4. Many applications like MS Office or Adobe Acrobat are missing / have broken links and therefore do not work.

I have 2 user accounts on the notebook and both have similar problems.

When I boot up in Safe Mode, the program folder has a few applications listed, but the other problems remain.

System Restore doesn't work. It returns an error message saying a file's missing or something like that.

I feel something's corrupted but I don't even know how to begin searching for a solution to the problem since the symptoms are all over the place!

Would appreciate any help!

You might try booting into safe mode and deleting it, there.

Or, you can find out what program's loading it into memory and stop it loading, at boot. Then, you ought to be able to delete it.

If this doesn't work, let me know, because there are other ways, should these fail.

Here's the full scope of my problem.
I'm using Windows 7 Platform. I use Mozilla and Internet Explorer 9, with both browsers I run into the same problem.
I try to download Flash Player 11 and I get this error message::

C:\Windows\system32\DSOUND.dll is either not designed to run on Windows or it contains an error.
Try installing the program again using the original installation media or contact your system administrator or the software vendor for support.

The download reaches 100% but doesnt work on either of the browsers due to the error message. So far I've uninstalled reinstalled browsers and Flash Player 11 numerous times direct link and indirect links. I've toggled the activex options for the Scripts but the error message still pops up.

This is a 32 & 64 bit Flashplayer.

I have had the following error for a few weeks and it is totally disabling my audio except for basic system sounds.

C:\Windows\system32\dsound.dll is either not designed to run on Windows or it contains an error. Try installing the program again using the original installation media or contact your system administrator or the software vendor for support.

I have tried deleting (as admin), renaming and replacing the file, updating the system, reinstalling DirectX and my soundblaster software to no avail. Vista will not let me delete or rename the file even in "DOS" mode. (yes, I am old school and can DOS)

I really, really miss playing BF2. Any options I have not thought about or anything else I can try? The MS website is useless on this matter (no earth shattering news there, huh?)

I have installed Vista x64 ultimate, Soundblaster Audigy 2 ZS card, 7.1 speakers.

Most applications with sound open up to that error message.

There appears to be some redundant paths.

The program is Photobase 4.5 which one part of the ArcSoft program; the other part seems to be OK - Photoimpression 5. Looking in C:\WINNT\system 32\dllcache, I do have dsound.dll and dsound3d.dll.

How to solve the error??

This is REALLY starting to bug me now. Whenever I'm watching movies on my PC, whichever video player I'm using crashes on me, pretty consistently. Sometimes it will run for 20 minutes then crash, other times it won't go longer than a minute.

I couldn't really trace it back to a specific point in time it started happening, so today I bit the bullet and after spending far too many hours tracking round the web for dsound related issues, I did a clean install. Spent 4 hours getting my PC back to how it was, then BAM, just when I'm trying to enjoy the fruits of my labour, the crashes start happening again. for the record, i'm just watching regular .avi files, I used to watch them all the time, without problem. I'm using CCCP (combined comunity codec pack) and my sound hardware is onboard, AC97 thingy. the drivers come straight from windows update.

As far as hardware goes, i built this PC myself a few years ago now, its an athlon 3200+, 762MB ram, 80GB HDD, onboard LAN and sound (SiS 7012 series?) pcchips MoBo, ATI 9800Pro AGP and only one disc drive, a DVD/CD RW. I have 4 devices plugged into my USB, a keyboard, mouse, webcam and the fourth I switch between a Wacom tablet and an iPod. My PSU did fry recently when one of the fans stopped working in it, so I replaced it with a 500W PSU, it has stickers all over the box saying AMD64 ready so i figured it would cope with my system pretty fine and I think my old PSU was only 450W. Please re-install a copy of the above file
*
I have the xp disc, but I could not boot in safe mode.
I entered the repair mode, and tried something like the following:
expand d:\i386\hal.dl_ I received a message saying it had been expanded.
I think I then typed something like c:\windows\system32\hal.dll
when asked to overwrite I said yes.

*
The second problem:
NTLDR is missing
Ctrl+Alt+Del to restart
*

I hit f12 and choose boot from xp cd, the computer says it is checking setup, but nothing happens.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

My setup had an MBR issue a few days ago after installing Skyrim. I was unable to repair it using the windows 7 instal disc. I tried the automatic fix as well as bootrec.exe. After giving up and reinstalling a fresh windows 7, my rig has not been starting up properly. It insists on waking up from sleepwhen it was shutdown, i.e. Not sleeping. Well after a few days of this with no other problems, bootmgr can't be found again. Now, when I load the repair disc, it can't find my OS to even try a bootrec.exe on. But, when i go to load drivers the explorer window allows me to browse my c:/ drive and the installation is there. Any suggestions? I would prefer to fix rather than reinstall due to a symantec DRM issue. Thoughts?

Windows 7 is on a 60 gb raid 0 setup (I know, i know, i deserve this for running raid 0)

Have you tried resetting the RAID? You should backup your data first using PartedMagic and its drive mounting tools. Let me know if you need help doing so.

My problem is that whenever I download microsoft service pack 3, it would always pop up saying:

The file c:\windows\system32\cmd.exe is open or use by another application.
Close all other applications and then click Retry.

I tried closing other programs and click retry, but it pop up again. Before, I even have the Windows installer problem, but I manage to fix that and try to download SP 3 again.

Thank you in advance!!

i have a great ebook program which I have used to author things which I have distributed to friends over the web for quite a while. But this time, I finished the project: i FTP'd it to my server, and then downloaded it as a test.

I got a black screen with the message "This program must be run under win32"

This never happened before. It now happens with everything I download with that program. My friend with another computer gets the same result.

Can anyone identify this? Is it something in my pc ?
thanks, Frank

Hello there !!!!

Please answer to this strange problem.

I use DAP or internet download manager 4.01 for downloading my data
from the internet.

They both download very well upto 99% level, but after that
downloading becomes extremely slow or timed out.

How do I deal with that?

A:Download problem

You may need to clean up your Temporary Internet Files.
In IE, click on Tools/Internet Options. Then click on "Delete Files", tick "Delete all offline content" and click OK.
In Firefox, click on Tools/Options, on the left click on Privacy, then on the right click on "Cache". Then click on "Clear" inside the yellow marked area, click OK.

Now in Windows Explorer go to C:\Documents and Settings\{username}\Local Settings\Temp and delete everything in there.

Now for the best, uninstall DAP, it is riddled with adware and/or spyware.
Also install that Internet Download Manager.
They probably get into each others way anyway.

Surf to www.stardownloader.com and install StarDownLoader. It is free, and one of, if not THE best.

I am running win xp. I've been through this computer a couple of times and have asked for advise on other sites, nothing seems to help. Seems as .exe files are not loading. It will download, and disappear, never show up in my documents or where I try and load the file. I can update most programs and system seems to run ok, most of the time anyway. But anytime I try an .exe file download it wipes out. I've turned firewalls off, anti-virus protectors, etc....don't know what else to try.

Thought I had posted this question before but can't find it. So I'll try again.
When I try to download some program (eg adaware) I get a pop-up error with an error message that says
"C:\Documen....\...\local...\temp\
then a file name
then could not be saved because the source file could not be read"
When I look in the c:\Documen....... directory the file exists but has 0 size.
When I close the pop-up error, the file goes away.
Anybody have a suggestion.
Thanks,
JCT

Operating system windows 7, 32 bit, Antivirus and firewall - AVG internet security 2013

For the past few days I am facing some strange problems -
Whenever trying to any file via Google chrome download starting but
going down to 0 Bytes/sec that means no download at all , sometimes
increasing the speed up-to 40/50 KB/sec but then again down to
0 Bytes/Sec and fixed. It's like meter up and down and ultimately
getting fixed in 0 Bytes/Sec.
Never faced this type of problem in Google chrome download.

In case of Mozilla download is hanging frequently but not all time. Like I am downloading a 700 MB file after 300/400 MB entire download is hanging
(File attached)
Mozilla file download is disturbing very much today.

leaugesunderthesea.part01.rar
6 hours, 7 minutes remaining - 105 KB of 450 MB (20.9 KB/sec)

Scanned whole PC with my AVG Internet Security 2013 - No problem.
Root-kit scan - No problem.
Fixed errors.

Also tried Malwarebytes but no such malwares found.

Need some suggestions immediately. Thanks.

A:Download problem

First off, do not expect any help with illegal downloads. By the look of things, you seem to be downloading from one of those file sharing sites.

Having said that, let's get some more info about the situation. What's your data plan and who is your provider? Are you on a capped data plan whereby speeds are significantly reduced when a certain limit is reached? I don't know about your locale, but here, such data plans are the norm (despite being called 'unlimited' data plans). That would explain why speeds dropped out of the blue. I believe the culprit is in the network side of things and not the downloaders in use.

Another question is your network setup. How are you connected to the Internet? Via a (wireless) router, cable modem, 3g (cellular) connection, etc? Are you on a lan controlled via a managed switch?

My point is, we could really do with more details about your scenario, including any system changes made before the problem showed up, including software and hardware installations that could possibly cause this.

Check the Advanced tab in Internet Options. Make sure that allowing content is checked and remove the signature requirements. If from a known publisher, it doesn't matter if it has all its papers.

Hello,
It's been forever since I have had to post.

Here's my problem:
I tried to go into my Hotmail and download a file I was sent. I get an error message. I have attached a picture to assist in helping. This also happens if I try to download any file anywhere on the net. The settings are the same on that PC as all my others. I can download the same file from another PC with no problem. I checked by logging onto the same hotmail account and I downloaded the file....no problem. Any thoughts? I tried searching the forums, but I could not find anything that was the same.

Any help would be great. Thanx.

Operating system windows XP, 32 bit, Antivirus and firewall - Quick heal internet
security 2013.
I am experiencing a very disgusting problem about downloading files from internet. Every time incomplete download. A device called Nano (Nano station 2) which was installed in my roof top was not receiving signals properly. Due to this my internet was very unstable with incomplete download problems but yesterday my service provider (Tikona Broadband) has replaced the Nano (Nano station 2). After replacing the device now internet is stable but file download problem remain the same. No file is downloading 100 percent and every time incomplete download.
Previously I thought that the nano device is creating the internet problem which is partially true but not entirely because before replacing the device internet was severely unstable and unusable. After replacing it stability has been restored but no file is downloading properly.
I have scanned with my antivirus, scanned with malwarebytes but no such
malware found.
I am using ''Hotspotshield'' which is helping me to open those sites which were not opening normally. Is Hotspotshield the reason for incomplete download ?

My monitor is turning blue sometimes (1 or 2 times daily).
I have attached the snapshots of the blue screen with some technical information in it. May be this is causing the problem.

Need some help urgently.

Hiya and welcome

The link for the games: what is the extension? Also, can you post the address of one of the sites?

As a bit of advice, do you have an up to date virus program? This may be one disguised. I have been surfing sometimes, clicked a page that has a .txt page in. Up pops the Warning. You don't have it but it keeps telling you.

Every time I try to download any file at all, it won't work. The tab on Firefox will display the link to the file in the tab bar (e.g. http://www.pctools.com/mirror/rminstall.... and a completely blank web page. Internet Explorer is the same. I have Free Download Manager, but as soon as I use that, it will stop the download and say "Access Denied. Invalid User Name or Password", when I'm not connecting through a proxy and none of the sites require a password to download the files. I have run both AdAware and Spybot, but it still won't download.

None of the files have been removed as far as I know, as when I download files which I know are there, it still won't work.

A:Cannot Download - what is the problem and how can I fix it?

Why hasn't anyone answered this? I really need an answer.

ZIP files and other files download fine, it's just applications (.exe) files that won't work.

Please help me with this.
