I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

My requirement is, when i receive a new mail in outlook, it should trigger a macro which saves the new mail info (Sender address, date received, subject etc..) in an excel sheet. I have a macro code which does just that, but it only works for personal mailbox. I want to mimic the same steps for shared mailbox. Here is the code which works perfectly fine for personal mailbox,

PrivateSub Application_NewMailEx(ByVal EntryIDCollection AsString)

Dim strArray()AsString
Dim lngLoop AsLong
Dim objItem AsObject

strArray = Split(EntryIDCollection,",")
For lngMailCounter = LBound(strArray)To UBound(strArray)
Set objItem = Session.GetItemFromID(strArray(lngMailCounter))
If TypeName(objItem)="MailItem"And InStr(1, objItem.Subject, strSubjectLineStartWith)And InStr(1, objItem.Body,"")Then
Set objMItem = objItem
Set xlApp = GetObject(,"Excel.Application")
Set wb = xlApp.Workbooks("test2.xlsx")

Hi

I have a user who through Outlook 2000 is opening 3 mailboxes (Exchange Mode)

She wants to be able to set an out of office message on two of the mailboxes (not her personal one)

Can this be done within the outlook client or only through OWA?
Thanks

I personally would choose OWA - why create more confusion with the client? And if the client doesn't work - you'll still have to do it on OWA anyways...

Hi

I am not very experienced with this, so apologies for any naivety.

The company where I am working using a postfix mail server to deliver mail.  Internally, a small group of staff (about 4 people) wish to use a shared mailbox focused on an area of interest.   A mail account has been set up for this purpose and on request, a simpler and more memorable name for this account has been added, as an alias for the account.

So on the mail server the alias table looks something like:

Alias       Actual mail account name

comm:  [email protected]

So I think there are 2 different approaches for this shared mailbox:

1) I could add this [email protected] account to their Outlook or apple mail client programs, or:

2) I could change the alias table so that it points to their true email addresses e.g.

Alias       Actual mail account name

comm:  [email protected], [email protected], [email protected]

The latter approach sounds better to me, but any advice and insights would be appreciated as this is rather new.

Many thanks!

John

A:set up of company shared mailbox: best approach

I would ask the end users what they expect out of the shared mailbox in terms of functionality. For example, if the mailbox is meant for outside people to contact the group, then they may want to be able to reply to messages, but have those replies be part of the shared mailbox for tracking purposes (i.e. have the replies show up as part of the original email thread that all can see). Or they may just want it as an easy way to send messages to each other in the group with out having to type in four email addresses. If it is the former, then they may just want it as an actual separate email account/mailbox that they all have access to from their email client...this seems to be your first option. If it is the latter, then something that is just acting as forwarding alias, which sounds like your second option.

I found a tread in this site and need some help and advice on how to make it work for a shared mailbox that about 10 peolpe will be working out of. It's been a while since the thread had any posts so I thought to create a new post and reference the code. I'm new to vba and I'm at a lost as to how I can get this code to work for my shared mailbox situation at work .

Here is the link to the tread I found with the code:
http://forums.techguy.org/business-applications/439567-outlook-reply-email-when-mail.html

I was able to use the code and apply it to my 'ThisOutlookSession' and it works great for my personal mails . However, I want to be able to use this code on multiple folders within the shared mailbox. Also, depending on the folder that any of the 10 people working out of the shared mailbox move the email item to he/she will trigger either a "processing" email reply or "completed" email reply to the sender. And lastly, do I have to set this code up for each computer or can I just setup this code on my outlook?
Code:
'##############################################
Option Explicit
'##############################################
'### all code for the ThisOutlookSession module
'### Module level Declarations
'expose the items in the target folder to events

Good Morning Folks,

I am experiencing a bizarre issue with one of our users, items are getting stuck in the outbox of a secondary mailbox which is shared, this issue only happens for this particular mailbox I believe & only for this user.

I have re-installed office 2010, deleted any left over configuration files, deleted any left over ost files & nothing, the only thing I am yet to do is re-image the machine, but I am hoping It does not come to that.

It is a windows 7 professional 64-bit machine.

Any advice is greatly appreciated.

Hey all.

So a group on our team uses a shared mailbox. Often times this mailbox needs to have the auto reply function changed. We are aware that the auto reply can be changed by logging onto that shared mailbox, however it is very inconvinient as we don't want the users to have access to anything other than the ability to edit the Auto Reply, so therefore want to keep the password restricted.

Any suggestions for this?

She claims that whenever she turned on her Out Of Office Assistant that all mails sent to [email protected] were forwarded to [email protected]

I have look trough all possible rules and settings but I have to admit I can't find any setting that would acomplish this.

My group works in a shared excel worksheet (2007)--about 20 people. We're noticing that sometimes changes will be made to cells by a user that isn't even working in that sheet. It will show that he altered or deleted information and the time of the change even though he wasn't working in there. He does however have other excel files opened when this occurs. We did a cleanup/maintenance on the worksheet but it seems to keep happening. This has happened before to other users but recently seems to be happening the most to this guy who happens to be the person assigned to admin the shared spreadsheets. Any ideas?

I have three computers all Win 7 Home Premium and sharing (Homegroup). Side not I also had them sharing with out Homegroup and still same issue. Also This occurs regardless if PC3 is connected via wire or wireless. Additional notes AV was also disable to rule out. That is the only thing running on PC3 and nothing is running background wise on PC1 or PC2.

PC1 can easily view contents of Shared PC2 instantly.

PC2 can easily view contents of Shared PC1 instantly.

PC3 can easily view contents of Shared PC1 & PC2 instantly.

PC1 & PC2 can not view contents of Shared PC3 instantly; it takes approximately 35 seconds to view contents of main shared folder and same for each additional sub-folder. Also if copying a file initially it takes awhile before it starts and then stars off slow around 585KB/s copying over from PC1 or PC2 to PC3 before it jumps up to around 10MB/s+. However if I copy the same file from PC3 to PC1 or PC2 no speed issues what so ever. Speeds actually get well up into 70MB/s.

Any thoughts?

Hello everyone,

I'm using a laptop (with Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit installed) as a DVR and media streamer to all other devices in the house.
My TV recordings are recorded into a temporary folder and when the recording is finished the program moves the files into the My Videos folder.

The My Videos folder is shared so we can watch the recordings from the Xbox downstairs or other Windows 7 devices in the house.
This worked pretty well in the past but for some reason new recordings (or downloads) aren't shared by default anymore. All files have a small lock icon (shared with nobody) and I have to manually share new files within an already shared folder.

This is pretty annoying and takes away the convenience.

I would appreciate any tip to fix this problem to have all files in the shared folder(s) shared by default.

Thanks in advance!

It's easy once you know how, just right click the C:/Video's folder and choose properties, Security tab then Advanced button, then just put a check mark where it says "Replace all Child Object Permission Entries with Inheritable Permissions Entries from this Object, then hit Apply, OK....this will fix the problem you described.

We are a small company.  We are running six windows 8 computers.  Our secretary works from home, the rest of us are in the same office.

The Admin Computer stores all of our work files within a folder called 'casework' (about 400GB).   The 'casework' folder is shared on the office network.  This 'casework' folder is also synced by Google Drive.

When our secretary works on her home computer and makes a new file, e.g. letterV2, the new file downloads to our 'casework' folder to the Admin Computer here at the office.  However, the new file cannot been seen on our other computers over the office
network.

The newly created files are not shared to 'everyone' unless I un-share 'casework' from the network and then share 'casework' again.

The problem seems to be that the new files added by Google Drive are not inheriting the permissions of the 'casework' folder.

There are no options to change in Google Drive.  Is this a Windows8 problem? Will Windows10 have a fix for this? Are there any work arounds? Does our secretary need to work at the office?

Yours Hopefully

Matt

I suggest you contact Google drive first, we have limitation information regarding this product.

You can proof that there is no issue for sharing folder within your office network
I think that's not how online share drive work, unless your secretary can join your office network trough internet
http://www.howtogeek.com/196435/how-to-share-files-and-folders-from-your-cloud-storage-folder/
this is the example, you can ask your secretary to send file trough share drive and assign 1 admin to sync and send it to your case work folder

Hey everyone.

I use both Linux (Ubuntu 10.04, 2.6.33-AMD64) and Windows 7 professional, and sometimes I get a little boggled at the apparent lack of functionality in W7 in the following situation.

I have a network share in the root of my drive that I've called "DropBox" where my boss and I can both put files to be shared via the network. I have a bunch of files in "Downloads" directory that I'd like to be able to share at various times, but would rather not have my downloads directory directly shared as it violates my sense of order. IE, I would much rather have one shared folder from which you can reach all the other content I need to share on the drive, and if I need to un-share something, simply delete the shortcut, and Voila! instant anti-sharing.

Figure 1. Clean Sharing

In Ubuntu, you can create a symlink within a shared folder that points to a non shared folder which allows network users to access that non-shared folder.

Does this functionality exist in W7?

Thanks,
NYTCG

A:Shared Shortcut to non-shared folder.

Okay, so I solved this issue on my own =) TGFG! The answer lies in the MKLink command.

Specifically: mklink /D /J Downloads "C:\Users\Robert\Downloads\"

Works like a charm. All networked machines have access to my non-shared directory through the shared folder, and it looks nice and clean on the viewers end.

Thanks for letting me rubber duck this one.

I have all 4 PC's in the office using Windows 7 Pro. I have one computer that is designated to house my share folder for scanning documents and attaching them to our management system.  We are finding that multiple problems occur - not at once and at
different times .  Sometimes, the document within the shared folder called "IMAGEBATCH" will not delete.  Sometimes that document deletes, and then re-appears within the IMAGEBATCH folder.  Sometimes the document will not

Sometimes in the day, each computer that is supposedly looking at the same IMAGEBATCH folder see different files.
Restarting the computer clears the problems, but then start right back up at irregular intervals, sometimes in the morning, sometimes in the middle of the day.
I did find a duplicate file named IMAGEBATCH on the "C" drive of that PC, so I deleted that, but the symptoms are still there.  This is the only shared folder in our entire network.  What can I be missing?  I have checked to make

Hello,
I work for a start up that has set up a general e-mail alias that is shared amongst 4 staff. As in, we each individually can send and receive e-mail from that alias. We've set it up as IMAP but I'm wondering if it should be set up as POP? The issue we're having is that we all receive the e-mails but then they disappear. We all work remotely (only some of us are in the same city but we're not all in the office at the same time). I think what is happening is we all receive the e-mail but then someone deletes the e-mail from his account, which then deletes it off everyone else's inbox before or after we've read the message. Is that what happens to an alias e-mail setup as IMAP? Can we change it so we each can save a copy from the server? Or do we have to switch to POP?

As I understand it, if we do POP, then the e-mails won't sync across devices--our individual computers and e-mail clients--which could also get messy....We'd like to be able to each read and store copies of the messages we receive at the alias e-mail as well as send out from that address. I think our current work around is that we're storing all e-mails in an Archive folder and not deleting anything.

Any suggestions on how to best set this up? Everyone is using Mac Mail except one person who is using Thunderbird. We're all on Macbooks (Air and Pro).

Thank you!

A:XP shared mail accounts

Yes, it is very possible.

However, we need a few more details in order to give specific help. First, I don't believe you're talking about web-based email, right--that's an easy solution. Also, what email software are you using? Outlook Express, Outlook, etc.

As a generic solution, set up the email software while logged in as each Windows user--SMTP & POP servers, login name, password, etc. In your email software--under the email account--look for an option similar to "Leave a copy of the messages on the server" and enable it. This will allow each Windows user to download all messages from the email account, regardless if the other Windows user has already done so or not. Confused yet? ;-)

This is a really weird one.
OS is XP SP3 fully up to date.
Primary master 80Gb, 3 partitions - XP, Vista, Data.
Primary slave DVD
Secondary master - removable bay 40Gb 1 partition Fat32 Empty
Sata 1 80Gb 1 partition Fat32 Empty
Promise Ultra PCI Primary removable bay 40Gb NTFS XP from a Laptop

Shared a folder on the Data partition and can see the top level of it from this and other machines on the network, but won't expand.
Tried the whole drive with same result.

So, I tried sharing the Secondary master with the same result.

So I tried sharing the Promise attached one and it worked perfectly, as did the SATA drive.

So I swapped the secondary master and the Promise disks and tried again.

Still the 2ndMaster (was the one on the Promise) seen but will not expand and the Promise attached (was 2nd Master) worked - but obviously they are now different disk contents.

It looks as though the disks attached to the IDE controllers on the Motherboard are blocked in some way.

Removing Firewall and AV software makes no difference.

I'm puzzled.

But the folder is not shared nor has it ever been.

What is going on? Why does Windows 7 think that it is shared?

A:“This folder is shared with other people” when renaming not shared folder

Hello there,

This happens because of the way the Access Control List is queried by Windows Explorer to determine if the folder is shared. Because this folder you tried to rename is a child folder of a parent folder and the two folders have a different security entries, Windows will treat as a shared folder. This causes Explorer to give you the warning that you received.

Just double check, this must be a shared folder.

Hope this helps!

I have an Android tablet and my PC running Windows 7 Pro. I am using ES File Explorer on Android to see shared folders.

I added some folders to the Music/Picture/Video libraries and shared them in a homegroup. I tried to make the homegroup not need a password and it'll let me access my PC from my tablet and view the root folders but as soon as I tried to access a folder (Music) it'll say permissions aren't available. It will work if I set a password and login with my account.

The second issue is that I'm seeing folders that I don't want to see. I can see a ADMIN$ folder (which is C:\WINDOWS), C$, D$, E$ (the HDDs), IPC$, print$, User. As well as Music, Pictures, Videos from the library. The folders in bold aren't shared so I don't know why I'm seeing them.

The last issue is that a folder (a whole drive actually) isn't being shared. I included the whole E: Drive in the Videos folder but it won't show up in the Video folder from the tablet. However if I include a folder from within the E: Drive then it will show up. Can I not include the root of a drive in a library? I mean it works on the PC.

A:Non-shared folders showing up and shared folders not

Homegroups aren't made to work with other systems besides Windows 7 or Windows 8, this is why you can't access the library's.

You should leave the Homegroup from your Windows 7 machine then set up a standard Workgroup instead.

Hello,

I have several Outlook 2000 users who are seeing intermittent Contacts being saved as private items, even when the appropriate checkbox is not selected. It is causing a problem, because delegates cannot edit those items. Has anyone seen this or know of a workaround?

Thanks in advance,

A:Can not open (send mail, send link, send page) [moved from win98]

What program were you using mail before? If you go to Tools>Internet options>programs

see what is selected as your program for email. The only choices are Outlook,Hotmail< or Outlook express

Somehow some time back I set Word 2010 to show a date on every saved page that I have. The date shows up on the bottom of the page on the left side. It also shows on a saved document for an envelope that I made. I want to delete that particular date stamp but when I open the envelope, I cannot figure out how to delete it on this item.
Any suggestions would be appreciated.

A useful item in my Windows XP Send To menu which I've used for years has suddenly disappeared. It was called something like 'Clipboard in 8.3 format'.

I would right-click the file in an Explore window, choose Send to > Clipboard in 8.3 format and get something like this on the clipboard: C:/Docs/SUNDRY/Graphics/PSPTUT~1/OUTLIN~2.PNG

Can anyone tell me how to restore it please?

When setting up our network a few years ago, my cousin put our security key as "shared" and WEP as our encryption. Using 8 now, I've noticed there is no way to choose shared. Am I missing something, or is there another way to connect wirelessly?

Gday

I have a custom built PC (not by me), I was for a time there experiencing HUGE latency issues. I thought it may have been time for some device upgrades. I flashed the BIOS to the latest. Contacted Nvidia to find out what was the latest forceware needed for my Win2k OS. Sent them my System Information.

The reply I got back was :-
Problem 1--

Two devices, the GeForce 7600 GT graphics card and the Texas Instruments OHCI Compliant IEEE 1394 Host Controller are assigned to the same IRQ 18. This should not be the case since each individual device should have its own IRQ.

Solution 1--

Please get in touch with your motherboard manufacturer or your system manufacturer to assign independent IRQs to the graphics card and the OHCI Compliant IEEE 1394 Host Controller .

All I can say is huh????

My motherboard is a Gigabyte, and they seem to take forever to respond to any form of tech support.

I have attached a zip file with my system info, pasting it into word you couldnt read it, font was far too small.

I googled and googled but couldn't find any answers.

On the upside, my PC for the moment is running back to normal i.e. no latency issues. However if it happens again I would like to know how to fix the problem.

BTW I am not sure if I have posted this in the correct forum

A:Shared IRQ

It`s quite common for devices to have the same IRQ,without problems.

Standard IRQ fixes -

1.Swap devices in to different slots.

2.Uninstall each device. Then reinstall each device.

3.Uninstall all the devices in the Device Manager that your not using.

This is a good performance tweak in itself.

5.Update or upgrade the devices.

To assign IRQs manually, see HERE (bottom of page).

I have a Compaq 5240 Desktop that has been upgraded from WIN98 to WIN2K. I have installed a wireless D-Link PCI card. My Monitor, Modem, and Wireless Adpater all share the same IRQ 11.

I am experience problems that cause my desktop to lose the dial up connection to MSN. I have to disable, and enable the modem before I can dial up again otherwise I get a message that indicates that modem is in use.

Normally the dial up line drops when I am on the internet on the desktop and my wife is also sharing the internet on her laptop thru our wireless network.

I have a free IRQ 9 that I would like to assign either the modem or the wireless adpater card to but I can not find a way within win2k to do this. My BIOS does not allow me to disable Plug & Play and I have attempted to turn off IRQ Sharing but still can't find a method to change or install to a specific IRQ.

Any ideas????

Hello all, I'm back to the table of knowledge with another situation. System info shows my video card and "SIS 7001 PCI to USB Open Host Controller" as sharing IRQ5. However the SIS thing also shows up on IRQ12. I've been having occasional crashes in my gaming activity, I think related to my video card (GeForce 4200). Could this be a cause and do I need this SIS thing on two IRQ'S? Thanks for viewing my thread!

Hello all,

I know that IRQ sharing generally will not cause any problems under WinXP, but how many devices can share the same IRQ? Why would XP assign the same IRQ to multiple devices when there are several open IRQ's available for use? Better yet, how can one change the IRQ for a "Plug-N-Play" device, other than through the device manager(won't allow changes)?

I have 6 devices sharing IRQ 3, while IRQ's 2, 4, 5, 7, 9, 10, & 11 are open.
