G15 (blue backlight) and "sleep" after last tuesday-patch, problem

Q: G15 (blue backlight) and "sleep" after last tuesday-patch, problem

Greetings.
After last tuesday-patching, my G15 Logitech keyboard will not start the software to the screen and the macro-keys after win goes to sleep.
AFAIK nothing has changed in my settings, or in the G15 software OR in the patch arriving from MS. So I have no clue whatsoever to where to look for an error.
Can somebody guide me, please?

Preferred Solution: G15 (blue backlight) and "sleep" after last tuesday-patch, problem

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

A: G15 (blue backlight) and "sleep" after last tuesday-patch, problem

I have a G15, and sometimes it won't load the profiles after the PC has woken up from sleep. I don't think it has anything to do with the patch, it's just an idiosyncrasy of the G15 itself.

Try pressing the "profile mode" key by the LCD (leftmost button), It should rotate through your G15 apps and settle on your profiles if you press it enough. It seems to load the profile then. Mine's always done this, even before Tuesday's patch.

I don't know why, but that works for me.

I've found: https://support.microsoft.com/en-gb/help/4558998 which I *think* is the July patch Tuesday update for WIndows Server 2019 (long term support channel).
1. Is there any way to confirm which KB is the "patch Tuesday"?
2. Why doesn't the above link, list all of the fixed KBs that have been rolled into it?
I did find this site: https://portal.msrc.microsoft.com/en-US/security-guidance/advisory/CVE-2020-1350
3. For example, for CVE-2020-1350, it does list 4558998 in the Security Updates table at the bottom. Does this imply CVE-2020-1350 is fixed by applying 4558998? But again, why isn't there just one page for 4558998 which lists all addressed CVEs?
My overall goal here is to be able to have a definitive list of cumulative updates and know exactly what is included in them.
Thanks

It is now Friday and my Windows 7 - 64 bit OS hasn't found this month's updates yet. It's using 50% CPU usage on one of the svchost.exe for system functions in Task Manager (see attached screen shot). I tried to find help on the Web but there are many and conflicting theories and solutions why this is happening. Apparently I am not the only on having this problem. IS there any easy and sure remedy?

Windows 7 Ultimate with ESU installed and activated/licensed as shown by slmgr /dlv, but when I install an ESU patch (i.e. KB4550964), it fails with the CBS logging "NO ESU KEY FOUND." Should note that I've tried two separate ESU keys now. I re-installed
the Windows OS key and the ESU key and activated with VAMT and tried MS activation servers as well, but neither helped. Slmgr says everything is licensed i.e. "License Status: Licensed" on both ESU and OS keys. Windows

I have an HP Pavilion and cannot get the machine to power down into Sleep Mode or Hibernation. When I first bought this PC the middle of last year I remember reading after my first Windows Update that the feature might be lost as a result of the Windows Updating process. However, as the months have gone by and more and more apps having been installed and loaded on to this machine, it now takes longer for it to boot up. I always liked the Hibernate feature on my old Windows XP machine, but since I lost the Sleep and Hibernation features on this machine and realized why they were gone shortly after having purchased it, I just went ahead with complete shut downs and cold boots. At this point though I'm pretty tired of the extended waits for the machine to boot up all the time so I would like to know if it's possible, and if so, how, I might get the Sleep or Hibernate features back on this machine.

I wasn?t sure what other Section to post this message in since I don?t see an applicable Heading, so I went with the General Folder.

Could anyone explain the differences to me.
Also, does anyone know a good piece of virus toolkit that can actually remove them as well as prevent them?

T.I.A.

A:Difference between a "virus removal tool" and a "patch"?

A virus removal tool removes the virus from your computer meaning that the file is already on your system and running, so it stops it from running and removes the file. A patch however is used to prevent bad things from being installed, usually released when big worms hit, like SoBig, MSBlast, CodeRED...etc...So patches are to prevent and removal tools are to remove files already installed.

Installed Windows 7 Pro on my Thinkpad (2MB memory and 120GB Hitachi HD) back in January 2014 and ever since the various Lenovo support progs have worked fine, Power Manager included.
All Fn buttons worked and sleep/hibernate and resume, etc., worked fine too.  About 2-3 weeks ago (after July 2015 patch Tuesday) I have trouble with resume, both from sleep and hibernation. Symptoms:

1. Entering sleep/hibernation works as normal.

2. Resuming from sleep/hibernation, on 1st try, the computer resumes to the password screen and then goes back (takes more time than normal) to sleep or hibernation respectively.

3. On 2nd resume try, the computer resumes okay and I can enter a password and get back to my desktop.

Any obvious fixes to this? I have run all PC-Doctor's system tests and they check out okay.

Installed Lenovo Power Manager 6.67.5 (over the 6.67.4 version), but, no difference. Same resume issues. Uninstalled PM 6.67.5 and used W7's native power management. No difference, same resume issues. Then, reinstalled an older Lenovo PM 6.64.2. All Fn buttons
works okay, but, same resume problems/issues, no change.

Could the resume issues described above be the result of one of the July 2015 Windows 7 patches?  If so, which one?  Thanks!

Hey guys, again!

I've got an old Dell LCD monitor that came with my 4800 and for some reason when I turn it on the backlight only stays lit for a second before it turns off. The image is still displayed as I can see it if I tilt a flashlight sideways against the screen but theres no backlight. Also, if I turn the monitor on an off, it progressively stays on longer and eventually stays on for good, like it's charging itself up, however if it sits off for a bit it will start kicking off again. Ever hear of this problem? And how bad is it to fix? Maybe I need a replacement?

Hey everyone,

Hi. Start menu -> I can only see shut down, or sleep, depending on how it's configured, but to access other power options I have to click on the small white arrow to the right of the power button.

So if the default setting of the big button is shutdown then it's a hassle to choose sleep because I have to click on the oh so small button arrow thing.

There's loads of room at the bottom right of my start menu so please tell me how to have a shutdown button AND a sleep button, because I frequently use both functions and don't want to have to choose only one for quick access. Cheers

Starting today, there is a new procedure:   Windows Update for consumer PCs will offer a [single] security monthly quality update (also known as the "monthly rollup") that will contain all new security fixes for a month... plus fixes from all previous monthly rollups.
A rollup is simply multiple patches rolled together into a single update. These rollups will replace individual patches . Each monthly rollup will supersede the previous month's rollup. The ultimate goal is for these monthly rollups to become fully cumulative, which will happen as the team adds patches released in the past, so users need only to install the latest single rollup.

Hello, I have been experimenting with Torrent for downloading movies, etc. . .
Yesterday night, when I tried to put my vista to sleep, the screen went black, but the computer was not in sleep the power light was still green (Usually goes orange when it goes to sleep,) and I couldn't wake it back up by pressing my power button.

Also, every time I turn on my computer, the internet will not connect straight away, I would have to get a new IP, reset the network router, etc. . .

I am currently using AVG Free anti-virus system.

Are my problems linked to using torrent?

What can I do about my problems?

First of all Hello to all readers since I've just discovered this site, and this is my first post

I have recently set up a new computer with these parts :

mobo : P5E3 Deluxe WiFi AP
cpu : Intel Q6600
video : 8800 GTX
memory : DDR3 OCZ 2GB 1066 (kit)
power : Enermax Galaxy 850w
OS : Vista

I was very happy that everything worked and the motherboard POST'd on the first power-up, and then I installed my copy of Windows Vista and everything seemed to work great.

Then I accidentally hit what seemed like the "Sleep Mode" button in the Start menu of Vista. I couldnt get it to come back to the OS so I shut down the power to the computer and turned it back on.. but now it refuses to boot up. Actually, nothing happens. It's like the motherboard wont POST, but everything seems correctly powered on inside and I havent changed any connections or anything inside since the event..

I just hope this doesn't turn out to be a hardware problem, but I'd appreciate any hints on how I could possibly get my new rig back to normal.. this problem is very odd to me.

Thanks in advance!

A:Big Problem originated from "sleep" in Vista

In Windows XP, fully updated, I have several folders full of mp3's and want to see the bit rate and duration. I right click on a column heading and select "Bit rate". I then click on "More..." so I can get to "Duration", and I select that one too.

But all the figures in the "Duration" column appear to be in "hours" and "minutes", so I see "00:04" or "00:03", but what I want is "minutes" and "seconds".

Any thoughts as to how to change this?

I am running Windows XP SP3, fully updated, on an Acer lap top PC.

I have several folders full of .mp3's and want to see the bit rate and duration. To do this I right click on a column heading and select "Bit rate". I then click on "More..." so I can get to "Duration", and I select that one too.

The two new columns appear, but the format of the "Duration" column appears to be "hours:minutes", so I see "00:04" or "00:03" for most .mp3's, when what I want to see is 'hours:minutes:seconds", e.g. "00:03:45".

This also happens for video files (.avi files), e.g. all my episodes of "Heroes" (sad, I know) have a duration of "00:42" instead of "00:42:xx".

Here are two pictures showing the problem with the .mp3's. The first is of Explorer showing the Duration as "Hours:Minutes":

The second picture is of the properties window of the first .mp3 in the list above:

I copied some .mp3 files to another (old) PC on my home network, and it displayed the duration field correctly:

Also, the properties window correctly shows the duration also:

I'm not the only person to have this problem. I received a private message from a member of another forum where I posted about this problem several weeks ago. That person also has the same problem with the duration field.

I have recently starting to have an annoying problem with the sleep mode.

Almost every time I use it, it shut down and then 3-5 seconds later, it "wakes up".

Anyone got any idea what could be going on?

I run Vista Home Premium 64 bit

Cheers

**Edit** Just found this on the site Power Options and Sleep Mode Problems so I will go through that first. Sorry for not checking that before posting

A:Problem with "Sleep" mode

Multimedia Settings Management will prevent sleep, Screen will turn off, but computer will never enter sleep state.
Under Hardware and Sound>Power Options>plan setttings> click ,"change advanced power settings"Media Settings"

If you see "Prevent Idling to sleep" or "allow the computer to enter away mode" this must be changed to "allow computer to sleep"

If this does not resolve issue, please see further troubleshooting:

I got a new computer and am trying to use Ghost 2003 to clone my hard drive. I have tried using a LPT cable, CDr's and DVDR'. It tells me that the clone has been successful, but when I reboot it I get a blue screen that says "A problem has been detected and Windows has been shut down to prevent damage to your computer".

At the bottom it says" Technical Information Stop:0x0000007b" along with a bunch of other similar numbers.

This is driving me nuts, can someone please help?

I did a search, but did not really find anything that matched my problem.

I'm hoping that you guys can help get the PC running faster and figure out the problem with the freeze ups - otherwise, we're about ready to throw this machine out the window! ha ha!

A:I have a Blue Screen error I think the problem is in "dxgkrnl.sys"

Quote:
"It's not a true crash, in the sense that the bluescreen was initiated only because the combination of video driver and video hardware was being unresponsive, and not because of any synchronous processing exception".

Since Vista, the "Timeout Detection and Recovery" (TDR) components of the OS video subsystem have been capable of doing some truly impressive things to try to recover from issues which would have caused earlier OSs like XP to crash.

As a last resort, the TDR subsystem sends the video driver a "please restart yourself now!" command and waits a few seconds.

If there's no response, the OS concludes that the video driver/hardware combo has truly collapsed in a heap, and it fires off that stop 0x116 BSOD.

If playing with video driver versions hasn't helped, make sure the box is not overheating.

Try removing a side panel and aiming a big mains fan straight at the motherboard and GPU.

Run it like that for a few hours or days - long enough to ascertain whether cooler temperatures make a difference.

If so, it might be as simple as dust buildup and subsequently inadequate cooling.

I would download cpu-z and gpu-z (both free) and keep an eye on the video temps
