Preferred Solution: Should my FireFox Browser contain references to chrome?

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Today, for the first time, I began to receive unresponsive script error messages relating to Google Chrome. Having never installed the program on my computer, I did a search and found 43 separate entries, several of which referred to my firefox program settings and chrome manifest file programs(whatever those are). Some of the files are tied into Microsoft Net Framework 3.5 while others have Java references. There is no reference to Chrome in my Program files nor in my uninstall devices.

How did these files get on my computer? What should I do about them? Help, please. Thanks.

are you sure it's google chrome? there are many files within xp or the os etc that are labled chrome etc for various functions. you need to be more specific about the error message. take a screen shot next time it pops up

I need to know this information, my friends are saying chrome is the best..but my experience on browsers says Mozilla's FireFox is the best...so which is the best between these two famous browsers...?

A:Which Browser is Best FireFox or Chrome?

There is no 'best browser'. The best browser is the one you are able to configure they way it suits your needs best. No two persons browsing needs are the same. Try them both and pick the one that works best for you.

EDIT: For what it's worth I have four browsers installed. One of which I use as my default and it is neither of the two you mentioned. And before you ask, the default is not IE.

Hi i think i have some kind of virus, my problem is that both firefox and google chrome will not work they just keep giving me a white screen with the 'web page not available' message when i start them up, but the wierd thing is that IE still works fine with no problems?? this has only happened today and ive noticed that i keep getting pages popping up with mobile phone games and junk like that which is why i think i have a virus.

I have done a system restore, ran all my anti virus scans (MCafee, anti-malware etc) but the problem still remains.

Browser being hijacked when clicking on search links in Google, Yahoo, etc. Hitting back button in IE brings me eventually to intended search link. Ran malwarebytes, eset online scanner, superantispyware, bhoscanner, avast. Have done in safe mode as well (except eset) Cleaned what was found, browser still gets hijacked as noted above. Once the hijack happens, computer will also not shut down, have to power down manually.

Also, just recently popped up while computer was sitting idle -

"Security Warning

Cannot bring up task manager, had to again power down manually.

Would like to fix this without reformatting if possible. Thanks for any help you can provide.

I have not been able to identify what I'm infected with yet, but I can describe the behavior.

The only site I'm 100% sure is affected is youtube. Browsing to any video in youtube on either firefox or ie causes ads to be injected after the comments section and begin automatically playing. There are always two separate instances of the video ads that are injected and they both start auto playing at the same time. I can sometimes go down and pause them, but then they start right back up again on their own every minute or so.

I've been able to capture some urls relating to the inserted ads:

ad.burstdirectads.com
ad.yieldmanager.com

I'm not sure which ones are legitimate to youtube and which are associated with this infection. Here is the actual injected code:

Hi All, it's my first post here and I'm hoping that someone can help.

For some reason if I type 'firefox d' into google, wanting to type 'firefox download' my browser will crash. Firefox crashes and wants to submit a report. Chrome comes up with an "aw snap" error, IE locks up and eventually crashes. Safari actually worked and got me to the website a couple of times, locked up a few times and then I finally managed to download firefox. It isn't right but works better than the others. I uninstalled firefox, reinstalled but still the same problem. I can't seem to make it crash by typing anything else. Typing just 'firefox' is ok, I can click links to the mozilla website or support forums but after a second or two the same will happen.

I've changed my vscan from Mcafee to Nod32. I've run spyware doctor, malware bytes anti malware, hijackthis. No problems found. Oh and I've run Ccleaner.

My computer runs like a dream apart from this annoying problem.

Does anyone have any idea what could be going on because I'm beat!

Many thanks :D

Wow... Where to start?

Recently, Firefox became a crash machine with constant crashes. Sometimes simply moving from page to page, sometimes locking up when nothing is happening. I prefer Firefox, but the crashes became so bad, I started using IE 8 and guess what? That browser will only stay up moments if it comes up at all. Finally, I went to Chrome and same deal there; it crashes suddenly upon start up on moments after. Firefox seem to be the most stable, but you never know when it's going to crash or freeze up.

On top of these issues, I've always used Malware Bytes anti-malware, but when the above issues began, it quit finding anything. Furthermore, I was running Adaware and it always found a cookie or two. When I began using the trial version ESET Node 32 anti-virus V4.0, I had to uninstall Adaware. Now when I try to re-install Adaware, the file is corrupted. Also, now that my trial is up for ESET, I have tried to download AVG and it errors during the installation process.

Sounds like I've got a good one...

Suggestions greatly appreciated!

Hello, first off thanks for giving my problem your time and consideration. Anyways, it all started when chrome started acting funny on my laptop. One day I got a strange "page not found" error on chrome and when I tried opening it up again it actually opened up as an internet explorer window and then would crash. I then tried to use firefox, which would stay open for about a minute or so and then crash. At the time I had an older version of internet explorer, not version 8, that still worked. However, in my attempts to fix the problem I installed all my windows updates that I had been neglecting, which included Internet Explorer 8, and now I'm having the same problem with that browser. Admittedly, I had no antivirus software installed at the time and simply relied on spybot s&d and adaware. Afterwards though I downloaded both microsoft forefront, through my university, and Kasperksy antivirus. Both of these scanners found numerous trojans but then removed them. However, after all my efforts my browser problem still remains and now I just have a computer slowed down by a million antivirus/antispyware programs! Please help! I've attached the dds.txt, attach.txt and ark.txt. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling chrome and firefox several times to no avail, I currently have them uninstalled until I fix IE. Greetings,
I have an issue with the default settings, Chrome was forced to be my default browser when I installed Piriform Recuva (forgot to make custom install in order to NOT make Chrome the default browser!). Each time I start FF it asks me if I want to use it as my default browser, I click "use firefox as my default browser" and then windows promps me what app I want to use for opening HTTP links...in the default programs section I make sure that I select FF and check "Use as default".
I did this several times, rebooted, cleaned the registry to no avail!
I then uninstalled chrome and deactivated IE11 and yet, windows still asks me what app I want to use for HTTP links

I know when I registered in the forums it was asking for my system specs but just in case, I am running windows 8.1 with the latest updates, firefox is 36.0.4

Top this point I am pretty much clueless, any help would be greatly appreciated!
Cheers!

Hello,

I am new here and not sure if I have posted in the correct forum, but would someone please help me sort out these problems I am having with my PC? I am using Windows XP.

Here's the message that pops up when I attempt to open my old browser:

"Firefox is already running, but is not responding. To open a new window, you must first close the existing Firefox process, or restart your system."

No existing Firefox process is listed in Task Manager. Restarting several times didn't fix this either.

I then visited the Firefox Help Desk and followed the instructions listed there http://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/Firefox%20is%20already%20running%20but%20is%20not%20responding, but the system wouldn't let me access the profile folder in Application Data in order to delete the parent.lock file, which is supposed to repair the error. Every time I tried to open the folder, the system would virtually come to a standstill, revert to the hourglass, and always take a long time to return to "normal".

So I installed Chrome, but for some bizarre reason it won't run certain applications properly (some Facebook games, for instance, images in emails and other pages don't display images correctly) - even though it claims that the Flash Player and all drivers have been updated. If this is the most updated version of Chrome and it still won't display images or run applications properly, something is seriously wrong, right?

A:How to remove ads from both the browser firefox & chrome as I am using windows7

Jimmy:

If you expect to browse different websites without having any ads appear, that's NOT going to happen.

Ads are a part of many websites for different reasons.

----------------------------------------------------------

If you're using Windows 7, make sure your browsers are kept up-to-date.

The current version of Internet Explorer is 11.

The current version of Firefox is 39.

The current version of Chrome is 43.

You didn't say which security programs you use in your computer, but don't rely solely on an antivirus program.

Hello gormancn ,This tool is not a toy. If used the wrong way you could trash your computer. Please use only under direction of a Helper. If you decide to do so anyway, please do not blame me or ComboFix.* Ensure you have disabled all anti virus and anti malware programs so they do not interfere with the running of ComboFix. If McAfee gives you any problems, you may have to temporarily uninstall it. For some reason, this is common with McAfee. 1. Download this file - combofix.exe http://download.bleepingcomputer.com/sUBs/ComboFix.exe 2. Double click combofix.exe & follow the prompts.3. When finished, it will produce a log for you. Post that log in your next reply please.Note:Do not mouseclick combofix's window while it's running. That may cause it to stall. If you have trouble running it the first time, then rename ComboFix.exe to gormancn.exe and try again. Thanks, tea

I got a HP Envy m6 Sleekbook laptop about three months ago. I installed Firefox and Chrome right away, although I used Firefox almost exclusively.

After about a month, Firefox just stopped working. I would click the icon, and it would light up (and the blue circle would appear over the cursor) as if it was about to open, but after a few seconds it stopped loading and the icon went back to normal, as if I had never clicked it. It just kind of... gave up. I restarted the computer and tried opening it from a different shortcut, and then directly from the file, but the problem persisted.

I tried uninstalling and re-installing Firefox twice, but it didn't solve the issue. Finally, I abandoned Firefox and switched to using Chrome.

Now, after using Chrome without a hitch for almost two months, Chrome has spontaneously started exactly the same behavior- BUT now I can open Firefox.

I'd really like to keep using Chrome, since I finally had it set up the way I like (I have quite a few bookmarks and quirky little preferences). Is anyone else having this issue, or have any idea of how to solve it?

For a while, my search engine results in Firefox had been getting redirected to random websites along with the page I was viewing. So, I decided to scan with AVG and MBAM. Anyone help me to doing this or any such tool which works perfectly?

Thx in advanced

A:Removing browser history from Chrome, Firefox, Opera

Each of those programs offers a way to do what you wish. Cannot remember where, but you can go to their websites, or just look through all the stuff at the top headers of each program. They are very thorough.

Normally, I use Chrome first because it's the fastest. Firefox is the most reliable and I use it second most (if it had the speed of Chrome, I'd completely use Firefox). IE was third for me.

however, now that I've had a chance to play around on a touch monitor...

IE10 is the only really responsive browser with the touch interface. Pinch to zoom is much more responsive than the other browsers.

Firefox does have the touch features that IE has but it's very laggy. You can zoom out or in but it takes a second to respond. So sometimes you're not sure if it recognized your touch or if it's just lagging.

I don't think Chrome has any touch features outside of scrolling the screen up and down. I was big-time disappointed by this. I hope Chrome brings it soon. No need to gimp this browser.

From what I read, Mozilla is closer to releasing a metro version of Firefox than Google is. Let's hope it has fully responsive touch like IE because I feel more comfortable with Firefox as it has better web compatibility.

All my browsers display ads by SaleItCoupon and SoftCoup and less2pay at the top of webpages. Visiting these pages on another laptop and those same ads do not appear.

Sometimes when I open up a new browser window and try to navigate to a page a pcfixit window will popup over the content and also will play a voice message asking me to call a phone number 855 579-9306 to fix a privacy breach, lol.

After closing this ad the browser will hang and become unresponsive.

I tried to uninstall all the browser add-ons. But the only thing that changed is that when they do display the ads sometimes the ads are blank.

I also updated Windows and Adobe Flash.

Hello! Like a lot of posters, I am having issues with my browser being redirected to shady-looking sites when using any search engine on any of my installed browsers (IE, Firefox, and Chrome.) I have done a few system restores, and no-go.

Additionally, I've had a couple crashes and blue screens in the past couple days, along with IE trying to run on its own. I also had something happen where several of my folders on my external (F) and extra internal (D) hard drive became hidden, along with most of the shortcuts on my desktop. A system restore seemed to fix this particular symptom, or, at the very least, it just hasn't happened again yet. I also randomly lose internet connectivity. (This is fixed by a rebooot.)

I could re-install Windows, but I'd prefer to make a last-ditch effort to stop whatever-this-is before throwing in the towel. I'm also a bit concerned that my extra hard drives are apparently showing symptoms.

Thank you much!

The internet exploded Friday with the news that Google Chrome extensions are being sold and injected with adware. But the little-known and much more important fact is that your extensions are spying on you and selling your browsing history to shady corporations. HTG investigates.

TL;DR version:

Browser add-ons for Chrome, Firefox, and probably other browsers are tracking every single page you visit and sending that data back to a third-party company that pays them for your information.
Some of these add-ons are also injecting ads into the pages that you visit, and Google specifically allows this for some reason as long as it is ?clearly disclosed?.
Millions of people are being tracked this way and they don?t have a clue.

Long have browser vendors such as Mozilla, Google, Safari and Opera fought over which browser is the fastest in the world with no real contest from Microsoft. This has all changed today, with the latest developer preview, Internet Explorer 9 claims the no. 1 spot in the Webkit Sunspider JavaScript microbenchmark.

The Redmond company just released the seventh Platform Preview of IE9, and the Build is faster that Chrome 8.0 Beta, Opera 11 Alpha, Opera 10.63, Chrome 7.0, Firefox 4.0 Beta 7, Safari 5.0.2 and Firefox 3.6.

But although this is a first for the software giant, Microsoft is not really celebrating. And the reason has been stated time and again by Dean Hachamovitch, Corporate Vice President, Internet Explorer, and other members of the IE team.

No benchmark, and certainly no microbenchmark, Webkit Sunspider included, is capable of reflecting the actual performance of IE9 or rival browsers. Instead, SunSpider is focused on a single aspect, namely JavaScript.

Hello,
I believe that my computer has recently come down with a bug.

Often when I click links from a google search in chrome or firefox on my computer I get popups.

I figured that I had something so I ran Malware's Antimalware, but to no avail. So then I ran CCleaner and cleaned my caches, and using CMD flushed my DNS. Next I tried panda antivirus, superanti-virus, macaffee antivirus, and now AVG antivirus.

All have either come up with a trojan and then gotten rid of it, or said I was fine.

I notice that when I start up if I try to do something too far after it has started the startup process, it doesn't always get done. For example, if I try to pull up the task manager without already opening it right when I turn the computer on, it doesn't always work.

Recently, the computer has been stalling and freezing up or not shutting down.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Try booting into safe mode with networking.Run Malwarebytes full scan. Malwarebytes is a great program and it does a good job.

Chrome was the only browser to gain significant usage share last month, and it again trounced Firefox.

By the end of April, Google Inc.'s Chrome accounted for 6.7% of the browsers that surfed to the sites that Aliso Viejo, Calif.-based NetApplications monitors for its clients. Chrome boosted its share by 0.6 percentage points, by far the largest increase of any browser for the month, and the second-highest increase since Google launched the application in September 2008.

Virtually all of Chrome's April expansion came at the expense of Microsoft Corp.'s Internet Explorer, which dropped 0.7 percentage points to finish the month at 59.95%, the first time that IE has fallen under the 60% mark. IE's decline was lower than the previous month -- it lost nearly a full point of share in March -- but was still above its average monthly decline.

Hello, I am hoping someone can help me with this. My sister was on my laptop today and mentioned that she could not add any attachments to her gmail account.

I tested it in her user account as well as mine and sure enough the browser would crash as soon as you would hit the "Browse" button to add any attachment. I have tried it in Internet Explorer 8.0; Firefox 3.0.11 and Chrome 2.0.172.31

I have also tried attaching files in Gmail, Yahoo Mail, Hotmail as well as my school account. I am running out of options. Does anyone know what might be the issue.

Hi

I am using Window 7 Home Basic with Sony Vaio eh26. Everything was working fine.. But in last 15-20 days chrome has started showing unexpected behavior. Whenever I start Chrome it freezes the System. I can access websites in chrome browser, but the System freezes. I have to open up task manager and end the process. I found one solution, however. If I start Firefox or IE prior to launching Chrome then it works just fine. After Chrome is launched even if I close Firefox/IE it works fine..

What may the problem? It is driving me mad.. I have uninstalled and reinstalled it twice, disabled many extensions and I don't even have many extensions. Please help me if anyone knows the solution.

Thanks!
