Yoga 2 13' external display Ultrawide

Q: Yoga 2 13' external display Ultrawide

Hi, I have a Yoga 2 13' i5 with 8 gb ram, currently running on windows 10. I would like to purchase an ultrawide external monitor for it : https://tweakers.net/pricewatch/437153/lg-29um57-p-zwart/specificaties/ On the internet I read several scary messages about the micro hdmi not supporting the 2580X1080 resolution, or the HD graphics not supporting it. Does someone know whether my laptop will support the Ultrawide resolution? I do only need it for Officework and internet browsing, not for movies or games. Thanks

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

I'm hoping to get a new external monitor for my laptop, but I am not sure how compatibility works in this case. This is the monitor I want to connect: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07WHSW195/ref=sspa_dk_detail_0?pd_rd_i=B07HGK5S9Z&pd_rd_w=dgB9o&pf_rd_p=2... This monitor is only 1080p, so I know that my laptop should be able to handle the resolution easily because many people on here have mentioned 4k external monitors for their 920s. However, the ultrawide (21:9) aspect ratio and the 144hz refresh rate worry me. Would my laptop be compatible with a setup like that? And if so, would it be powerful enough to run it smoothly and quickly? I'm mostly interested in basic functions as I'm not a huge gamer, I just want a better setup for media consumption, work, etc. Any input is appreciated!

Hi,I have a Lenove Yoga Thinkpad 12 laptop from a few years ago. I want to geta UltraWide (21:9) external display, but I am not sure if this is supported by the laptop. The processor I have is Intel Core i5-5200U, and the onboard processor is theIntel HD Graphics 5500. The specific UltraWide Resolution I want to run is 2560 X 1080. In the information about this graphics card, which supports total pixel count above what I need (https://ark.intel.com/products/85212/Intel-Core-i5-5200U-Processor-3M-Cache-up-to-2-70-GHz-). However, Intel told me that manufacturers sometimes puts limits on this, and that I need to ask Lenovo directly. I only have HDMI output, not DisplayPort. I read that HDMI 2.0 is required forUltraWide (not sure if that is correct?) and I can't find information on whetherthe HD 5500 support HDMI 2.0 or just 1.4. Will my laptop support an UltraWide external monitor @ 2560 x 1080?

Hallo,I own HP ZBook 15 and just bought an external monitor LG 25UM57-P which is ultrawide (21:9). My notebook doesn't have a HDMI output and monitor has only HDMI, so I connect it by cable DisplayPort-HDMI. Unfortunately I can't swich to 21:9 resolution, I have checked all the settings but nothing. Otherwise it work in 16:9 mode I have tried with another notebook (Lenovo), with the same cable and it worked imediatelly, just after pluging.Could you please help me?I do expect that this high performance workstation shouldn't have difficulty to run with ultrawide monitor. ThanksVeronica

I currently use an EliteBook 820 with a 24" HD display (1920 x 1080) connected through a 3005pr port replicator. I am considering getting an ultrawide (21:9) display to replace the existing one, to better view large spreadsheets, but the documentation with the laptop and port replicator are rather vague about supported display resolutions. A 29" ultrawide display would have 2560 x 1080 pixels; a 34" version would have 3440 x 1440. Does anyone know if the existing graphics chipset and driver in the laptop/port replicator can support displays of these resolutions? If not, would such displays be supportable with updated/different drivers? Thanks for any pointers on this, before I spend/waste my money!

HiOne of my users are experiencing frequent dropouts of video and power when using his Carbon X1 6th gen on a philips 3440 x 1440 ultrawide with thunderbolt, the screen is also capable of delivering power to the machine. When we plug in the USB-C 2 things might happen.1. The built in screen flashes a few times then gives up, only use the built in screen, no power is being sent to the computer.2. It works. Screen flashes onces like it windows usualy does when you connect a external monitor and power is being delivered to the computer as well. But even if it works it will eventualy drop out after a random period of time, might be 5 minuttes later or it might even last for 3-4 hours. Here are the things ive tried so far.Update the thunderbolt firmware.Update the Intel 620 integrated graphics driver. And i have also flashed the bios with the newest version.I also tried on several diffrent monitors all the same model and i have also tried with a brand new X1C6 but it shows the exact same behaviour.New USB-C cableIt also worth mentioning that i tried connecting a X1C5 to the same monitors with the same connector (USB-C) and they work flawlesly. Is there somthing wrong with the hardware on the X1C6 or is this a driver issue? The screen is a Philips 349P (349P7FUBEB/00)Im kind of stuck on what to do now, any sugestions and help is very much appriciated.

Hi guys, I'm new to the forums, but I've had my Yoga 900 for about a year now. Love it! I recently acquired a Dell 4k monitor and I want to use it as an external display for my 900. I have a USB-c to Displayport adapter. However, I'm a bit nieve on the CPU & GPU requirements for 4k. So, will the 900 do the job? Will it work via the USB-c out to Displayport?  Thanks in advance for your thoughts

Also, down the road a bit I'm going to be looking to purchase a tower to run this display. I'm a big fan of Lenovo's products, so any advice on which Lenovo tower I should be looking at would be appreciated. I don't need anything too awesome. Just a basic tower that can handle everyday family computing @ 4k/60.

Hello everyone I'm a new owner of the Yoga 720 15''. I've just bought apple thundebrolt 3 to thunderbolt 2 adapter and tried to connect external display using miniDP -> DP cable but with no luck. The same DP cable and monitor works ok on my MacBook (early 2015 with thunderbolt 2 ports). Computer sees the adapter (it's visible in the "printers and other devices" panel) but nothing is shown on my external display (it behaves like there is no cable connected to it and goes to sleep after few minutes). I've seen on various online stores that the apple adapter should work with my laptop. Is there something that I'm missing or maybe my T3 -> T2 adapter is broken? Thanks! Marcin

Hey guys, I recently purchased a micro hdmi to hdmi cable for an external display monitor with my Yoga 3 Pro however after connecting the laptop to the external display, I receive a 'No Signal' message on the external display. When the cable is not plugged into the external display, it says 'Check Signal Cable' therefore I know the external display can recognize when it is plugged into the laptop. I have read other forums regarding cutting back the plastic on the micro hdmi cable for further extension of the male end into the micro hdmi port however continue to experience 'No Signal' messages. Also in my display settings the laptop will not detect another monitor and graphics properties states there is only the single laptop display. Any suggestions will help, thanks!

I'm using a USB-C to HDMI adapter (using the DisplayPort over USB standard, not an older DisplayLink type) to use an external display on the Yoga 730 and it has issues when running as 2 separate displays (everything works fine when mirroring or using only the external display). If you set the graphics settings to "extend these displays" the Windows 10 shell seems to wedge itself (can interact with already running apps, but cannot start new apps or use the taskbar/start menu) and the bottom of each display flickers (looks like a flickering ghost taskbar). I don't suspect a hardware issue with the adapter because it works perfectly in mirroring or single-display mode; instead I suspect a graphics driver bug. Others that use this adapter on other PCs have no problems. I'd love to try a newer version of the Intel 620 graphics driver but it won't install (it says it's incompatible with this system and to contact the computer manufacturer)... Lenovo's customized version of the driver is 4 months old. I have all the latest drivers installed via Lenovo Vantage, Intel's web interface (it only installed newer Wifi and Bluetooth drivers), and Windows Update. The laptop is running Windows 10 1803 17134.112 (2018 Creator's update).

[email protected], hopefully someone can help.  I got a Lenovo Yoga 3 Pro 13 80HE004LGE for half a year.  Intel Core M-5Y70 1.1 GHz + Intel HD Graphics 5300, Kerntakt: 100-850 MHz, Dual-Channel, 20.19.15.4444 I used it with an external DELL 24" screen in extension setup WUXGA 1920 x 1200 pixel. Worked without any problem. Now changed the screen: DELL 27" (Dell U2713HM) . This screen should be able to provide WQHD 2560 x 1440 pixel but max I can choose in the set up (Win 10) is Full HD 1920 x 1080 pixel. I did the full program; 1. deleting drivers (Graphic and Monitor) reinstalled newest versions provided from Lenovo/Dell website,2. tried 3 different cables (HDMI and DVI), no differences :-(3. Installed Dell SetUp tool4. Installed intel set up tool (Could enter the high resolution manually here as personal setting, but does not work either) Nothing helped :-( screent stays on 1920 x 1080 :-( This 27" screen was running connected to a MacBook Pro without any problem in max. resolution 2560 x 1440 before.  Due to my research the Intel HD 5300 should be able to handle 2560 x 1440. Looking forward to helpful repliesDennis

I have an x1 yoga  20FQ model (i7, 520 integrated).  I am coming from a gen1 x1 carbon and had a gen3 x1 carbon as an temporary machine. On my x1 carbon with the onelink dock (usb 3) I was able to connect 2 external monitors + a 3rd monitor into the mini dp + the laptop built-in display.  Essentially I had 4 monitors. I am surprised that I cannot get the same setup with the x1 carbon gen3 and now with the x1 yoga.  One of my next step is test the vga port on the onelink+ dock to see If I can then enable the built-in port. The x1 yoga and x1 carbon (gen1) intel cpu/gup specs shows that they both support 3 displays.  I am thinking the usb dock is the difference maker.    Is this possible on the newer machines?

Hi,  Can someone from Lenovo officially confirm or someone who has bought this laptop test this and confirm, can the new Yoga 900 output 4k resolution @ 60hz to an external monitor, such as Dell P2715Q?  What I see in the specs, it has Intel HD 520, and the spec sheet says DisplayPort 1.2 via USB-C can drive4096x2304 @60Hz However, there's no confirmation anywhere of this, neither from Lenovo, nor from users. Most USB-C to DP cable makers haven't tested this yet.  I'm seriously considering the new Yoga 900 as a replacement for my T410. Main use is business and photo editing, and looks like an awesome laptop. The ability to hook up 1 external monitor at 4k @60hz is critical for me, otherwise, it's a Dell XPS 13. Thanks in advance,Vele

I am using a usb-c to hdmi adapter to output to a TV but the black levels look washed out. I had no issues with the same TV and a previous laptop that had a dedicated hdmi port. In the intel graphics settings usually there is a "quantization range" setting to change color space between RGB Limited and RGB Full if the intel graphics is driving the hdmi port. However, in this case, there is no hdmi port but instead a usb-c to hdmi adapter, thus the quantization range setting is missing. I've had the same issue before on a previous laptop with usb-c. I've tried installing thel atest drivers, including the non-validated ones from the intel website, but none give me the quantization range setting.

Hi, I'm using my Yoga 900 on the desktop for longer periods of time. When it awakes from sleep it does not always "remember" that it was last displaying on the external monitor. Sometimes I have no picture at all, sometimes I have the picture on the internal monitor. When I switch to external only with F10, it won't do that, so the external monitor (HP 24es) won't wake up. Up to now my only solution is to plug out and back in the Type C adapter (Apple 3x multi adapter). That's definitely not what I want to do several times a day. Thanks for any hint...!

Hi,I have a L380 Yoga 20M7-001BMH with ELAN trackpoint which exhibits the same behavior as described on another forum: https://forum.thinkpads.com/viewtopic.php?t=126939 The trackpad works correctly regardless of scenario, the trackpoint scrolling works correctly regardless of scenario, however, the trackpoint cursor has its axis swapped when I'm using a secondary screen in portrait orientation with "second display only" mode. More specifically, the X and Y axis are interchanged, acting as if the screen orientation was landscape. I'm assuming this behavior is due to the assumption that the primary display of the laptop will always be in landscape mode, and when connecting only an external display, it's percieved as the primary. I have Windows 10 with all updates installed, as well as all updates installed through Lenovo Vantage. The issue is present both with a display connected through a Dell D6000 dock as well as displays connected through HDMI.

My Thinkpad Yoga 15 has a problem, which may or may not be related to the BIOS update recently performed. When booting, the bootup screen only appears on an external monitor via the HDMI output. When performing the hardware tests in the BIOS, tests are done on the HDMI-connected display, the internal display does not seem to be recognized. I verified this using both Linux and Windows. It does not seem to be a hardware failure; I have been able to get the display on the internal LCD a few times, by powering down the laptop, holding the power button for about 20 seconds, then powering back on while pressing F1. The laptop will then function for a while, but loses its display after coming out of sleep. Needless to say, this is unworkable. Does anyone have any tips on how this could be fixed in a more permanent fashion or any indication to cause? BIOS does not allow me to turn off NVIDIA, or its opposite, to enable it exclusively. I also tried different drivers, from both Lenovo as well as NVIDIA and Intel, but to no avail. Any pointers appreciated.

The way I read the X1YG1 base specs it supports two independent monitors.  Apologies, but I can't quite parse your post.  Does "apart from laptop screen" mean that you want 3 monitors total, or two and the laptops's display is off?

supports external digital monitor via HDMI or Mini DisplayPort;supports dual independent displays;

When I boot up without a connection to an external monitor I experience some display issues with text sizing of certain objects within certain applications (e.g. Microsoft Visual Studio).  In these applications parts of the User Interface display perfectly.   Other parts of the same application will have vastly oversized objects and text.  And, in another application the text is greatly undersized in certain portions of this app. When I boot up while connected to an external monitor everything displays perfectly on the external monitor.   This happens without making any changes whatsoever to system display setting or application configuration settings.  If I disconnect the external monitor the X1's internal monitor still displays everything perfectly.   But if restart while disconnected from an external monitor I experience the same display issues as described in the 1st paragraph. I don't think this problem was always there, but  I cannot say for sure.  It just got so annoying that I finally decided to write to the forum today.   I would guess that the problem has been this way for 1-2 months. The Lenovo System Update app tells me that everything is up to date.    Is there some setting or perhaps driver that needs to change? Tim

The title says it all. I'm very frustrated with this problem since I really need to connect my laptop to an external monitor for work. I've read and tried all relative topics in this and intel forums (e. g: https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/Lenovo-Yoga-Series-Notebooks/Yoga-920-can-t-connect-to-any-external-mon...), have done all steps mentioned (including firmware, bios and windows update, windows reset, ...) but the problem still persists. Apparently, most users that had faced the same problem been able to get it worked after installing "Type C Firmware for Windows 10 (64-bit)" or the BIOS update provided by Lenovo. I installed them successfully but nothing changed. I am sure it is a software issue since there is no sign of any hardware one (all devices are fine as device manager shows and diagnostics app found no problem). It was just working fine until suddenly stopped working (probably after some recent windows update). I would greatly appreciate any help.

Hey,  I have a YOGA 710 and I recently bought an external mic due the genius placement of the built in mic and because I started playing games with my friends recently. I got a Y-splitter along the mic and was told by the seller that I needed to select the MIC-IN option in the Realtek Audio Manager to use the mic. I did that and the mic works through the splitter but my external speaker won't work and sound is playing through the built in speaker. If I select the other option in the Audio Manager (headset/headphones) the speaker works but the mic won't. I just can't seem to get both to work at the same time.  I tested the splitter with my phone and everything was working fine. I googled this and I saw some posts saying that the audio card in the motherboard might not support the Y-splitter that allows me to use both mic and speakers together. So I'm here asking if there is anyone with a similar problem. I'm currently using the MIC-IN option with my wireless headset until I can solve this issue.

Has anyone else seen this problem? I have external VGA display 1920x1080, in Win10 it is set as primary display. Both Intel and Radeon video adapters are enabled. Most of Win10 "modern" aka "metro" apps (Mail, Store) fail to render correctly when their window is bigger than the built-in LCD (1366x768).At least it looks like this. When I resize these apps more than certain size, the added area does not render and stays transparent or filled by background color.Moving the window around, further resize does not help. This behaviour started in version 1708 and still continues after 1803 update.   Please advice how to fix this. Hello everyone, As described in the title, I have an issue with my Yoga 720 15" with the GTX1050 and external monitors. The external display disconnects whenever I launch a game in fullscreen mode or when I change and apply display settings in Windows 10 (for example when I change from extend to pc screen only and then back to extend). Basically whenever the screen has to turn black and reload new graphical settings. The only solution then is to replug the HDMI cable on the monitor.  I have tested this with multiple monitors and TVs as well as different types of connections such as usb-c to HDMI cables and usb-c hubs with integrated HDMI ports. Graphics drivers are all up to date.  Can anyone help me out here?
