itunes slowing down the entire system, need itunes for iphone 3G syncing...

Q: itunes slowing down the entire system, need itunes for iphone 3G syncing...

Hi, I did a quick search in this forum for iphone related threads, but didn't see any that fits the bill of my problem, so I have started this thread. If it's in the wrong section, please let me know and I will move it.

Laptop - Dell Latitude 610 (1.7 GHz, 512 MB)
OS - XP Pro SP3

I am syncing the iphone 3G through itunes with my Outlook contacts and calendar items without any problem on my PC at home, but it's a completely different story at work with the Dell laptop. When I first got the iphone, it worked fine with the Dell for a couple of days, but when I came to work after the weekend, everything went south.

Once I hook up the phone with itunes, it registers it, but when I hit the sync button, it goes to sync with my contacts, and stays that way for eternity. 10-15 minutes goes by without any changes, and meanwhile, the machine slows to a halt. I can't run any other program in parallel, and it would take 30-40 seconds just switching in between windows. So I would have to manually cancel the sync. Afterwards, the machine remains slow as molasses. I go to Task Manager and would see that the OutlookSyncClient.exe continues to run even though I exited itunes. This is not the case on my home computer. When I exit itunes, that particular process stops as well. If I click over to the performance tab, it would show spike sin CPU usage, and off the chart PF values, like in the GB range. It also is taking up 40-50 MB of memory as well! The only way to stop this is do a restart, but I still can't sync the data onto the phone. Can anyone help?

Many thanks!

PS. I ran Ad-Aware and CCleaner, neither came up with anything.

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Win-8 Install was a breeze until ? Apple. iTunes ver 10.7 and 11.2 when trying to sync Outlook simply run processor to 98% and sit there with disnoted.exe, Outlook sync and one other apple program I can?t identify sucking up all of that 98%. No syncing of Outlook calendar or Outlook contacts happens. It just sits in this loop for as long as you let it. I let it run 2 hours once just to be sure the first ?sync? wasn?t the particular issue. iTunes will backup the iPhone and the apps. Just not Outlook

I tried installing in Win-7 and XP-SP3 compatibility. Same problem as described above.

11.2 will work on Win-7 on another Toshiba Tecra of the same age, but it occasionally locks the machine. (BRS reset to get it back.)

Naturally it works on XP and has for months.

Other than iTunes, all other programs, including 16 bit legacy, which I need, ran fine and had no issues with Win-8 GUI. In about 1 hours I knew it fine. Don?t know what the hubbub is about with some about the GUI.

Any rumors of a fix for this iTunes issue?

I hope that this is the correct forum for this question. I asked the Apple website Communities forum but have not received a reply.

The other day I downloaded two songs from the iTunes Store to my HP laptop. I then selected both songs in the iTunes menu and attempted to manually synced them to my iPhone by dragging them to the IPhone in the iTunes menu. One song synced but the other did not. I tried to manuallly sync the other song but it did not work.

What could be the problem?

I have syncing issues with my iPhone 3GS since I upgraded my system from Vista (x86) to 7 Ultimate (x64). For most of the time when I try to sync media (including music/video/photos/apps) to iPhone, the system will lag/stutter heavily (laggy mouse cursor, stuttering sound, etc.) The stuttering sound occurs to every programs that is playing sound on the system (iTunes, Windows Media Player, Winamp, Media Player Classic, YouTube videos playing on internet browser, etc.) The stuttering sound also spread to external USB headphones. (Logitech G35)

I have attempted several remedies in order to fix the problem, these include restoring iPhone firmware (and updated to the latest version available, which is 3.1.3), reinstalling iTunes (The latest version, 9.1), updating drivers, updating BIOS, and ultimately formatting and reinstalling Windows. Furthermore, I tried swapping to the x86 version. The issues were still not solved.

At first I suspect that the iPhone might be faulty, so I tried to sync it with an older computer. (Running on Pentium 4 2.6GHz, 1GB RAM and Windows XP Pro x86), it appears that there's no issue with the sync at all.

The brief system specs are as follow...

How do I transfer iphone music that is in itunes to window pc itunes ? this include purchased and non-purchased from itunes.

A:how to move iphone music in itunes to windows itunes

You can't transfer non purchased music to iTunes from your iphone, you will have to import it from another source. For the music purchased from the iTunes store there are two ways to do it. The easiest is to authorize the computer in iTunes and redownload the purchased items. Here's a link that explains both options. https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT201267 .

I am running Win7/Pro x64. My System Spec is in my Profile.

I do not have iTunes installed on my desktop. I do have an iPhone 5, a hand-me-down from my son.

Yesterday the phone needed to be charged. I attached it to a USB port. I was asked by the phone if I trusted my desktop. I said yes. I was told that there were no new images on the phone to import, a fact I already knew. I've encountered this dialog before. It seems to be part of the procrustean Apple way of computing.

What troubles me is that a process started about the time I plugged in the phone. At a rate of 5-10 files/sec the 'modified' date was changed on over 3,500 jpg files on my data drive. I've not analyzed the order in which they were processed but suspect that it was A-Z on the file names and also on folder names.

Could this behavior result from iTunes running its 'sync' process? If so, is there anything I can do to prevent it from happening again?

If we have no Apple OS experts on this forum, does anyone know of an 'Apple forum' that is as respected as sevenforums is in the Windows world?

i am using itunes on a Vista based machine.

when i copy a cd into the itunes library - it sometimes rearranges the list of the songs in a way that makes listening back a real problem.

For example if i copy a symphony with 4 parts it'll put the last part first and the first last. this makes listening back a real problem.

any idea on how i can can get past this problem???

I don't often use itunes myself but I am guessing this can probably be fixed by sorting the tracks in order of track number. They are probably sorted by name at the moment. If you right-click on the column labels at the top, you will see a list of all the available columns. Click on Track Number and then sort the tracks by this column.

First, my system info:

Acer Aspire x3200-U3600A, no modifications
AMD Phenom X3 8400 triple core processors
320GB SATA hard disk (partitioned C: and D: drive, OS installed on C: )
Nvidia GeForce 9200 graphics card

My PC came with Vista Home 64-bit installed. My school offered a free upgrade to Windows 7 Professional x64 so I decided to give it a shot.

It's been a nightmare ever since.

When I tried to upgrade, there was a conflict between my old OS and the new old, so I had to do a full install. The install program warned me I'd lose all my files, so I backed them up onto an external drive, but they're still on C:, just with the .old extension added on.

When I try to do something major, like multitask or transfer many files or do a large sync on iTunes (yes, it's the 64 bit version), my CPU jumps from normal up to 90-100% and stays there even after I shut down all applications. It doesn't freeze up my system entirely (mouse/keyboard still work) but it makes everything lag and stutter terribly and effectively makes my PC useless until I restart.

I've been trying everything I could find on this and other forums and nothing has helped.... updated my BIOS, my audio drivers, my wireless USB driver, my graphics card driver, turned off indexing, uninstalled iTunes and AVG... nothing is working.

If anyone has any ideas, I'd be very, very grateful!!

A:CPU goes through the roof when syncing on iTunes

Sounds very odd, before I read this I was going to say blame iTunes, well for obvious reason (Apple hates Microsoft).

Have you tried doing a clean install? Since you already have your stuff backed up, it shouldn't be too much trouble.

After the reinstall, try multitasking again and if it still is doing it, let us know.

Hi don't know if you can help but so far you've been really helpful with other issues - so crossing my fingers.

I've just bought a new ipod but before uploading it with my itunes library I wanted to make sure I had my library in order. (So its not been connected yet).

Though music and audio is playing fine in itunes - in the last couple of days I've uploaded additional pieces of video - (I have Windows Explorer 8 on my laptop), and though all the clips play absolutely perfectly if I run them off my laptop, the moment they go into itunes though the video images are chrystal clear and the audio is very clear the video clips are slightly out of sync with the audio and there's sometimes a little freezing.

Apple refuse to believe it's a fault their end saying its a windows fault - but as the clips play well directly from laptop it makes more sense to be a itunes issue.

I've completely removed itunes and reloaded it but same problem - and videos already loaded that were playing fine before have started having the same syncing issue.

Not sure if its an issue but my itunes library is on an external drive that is connected via usb (itunes programme is saved to same external drive, but loaded onto hard drive). - but this has been like this from the start (started uploading mid December) and the syncing issue only appeared yesterday.

Really appreciate any help you can give me with this.

Right, i have a 5th generation 30gb ipod, and have the latest itunes software, so i connect my ipod to my laptop via usb, it syncs but does not stop saying 'Do not disconnect' on the ipod and itunes, it wont stop displaying the 'Do not disconnect', so i disconnect after like 5 - 10 mins for it to sync one podcast, the podcast is not in the Podcast section/catergory on my ipod but appears in the Songs menu!

Although i can still listen to the podcasts, songs etc. its frustrating that it keeps saying 'Do not disconnect' and also the podcasts not syncing to the correct place.

Thanks for any help!,

I just updated my iTunes (I think it's 9.1), and now everytime I plug in my iPod, an error message comes up saying: "iTunes cannot sync information with this iPod because syncing has been disabled on this computer. Do you want to enable syncing? If you do not enable syncing, iTunes will not be able to sync contacts, calenders, bookmarks or mail accounts to your iPod" with a yes and a no option.
If I click yes, another error message comes up saying "iTunes was unable to load provider data from Sync Services. Reconnect or try again later" with an OK option. When I click that, it still syncs my music and all that, but it is very annoying going through that every time I connect my iPod. What do I do?
By the way, I'm using Windows XP, if that helps.

My notebook keeps crashing on me, typically when I'm trying to sync my ipod in itunes but it happens at other times usually when a program is in the middle of doing something. The screen just goes blank and the notebook switches itself off. Sometimes when I turn it on again Windows won't make any acknowledgement of a shutdown. At other times it offers me the choice of either starting Windows normally or running repairs. If I run repairs it doesn't fix the problem and often freezes. It tells me there has been a terminal error and advises me to update my BIOS.
My notebook is an HP G7000. I'm running Windows Vista Service Pack 1.
I contacted HP and they got me to update my BIOS which is now at version 34.

Hi -

Please follow THESE instructions. I'll take a look at the resulting output and see what I can find. The black screen sounds like a hardware problem. Is the laptop still under HP warranty? Are there any driver updates available.... did you allow HP to scan your system to check?

The model G7000 may be generic. Check this HP support page out to see if your specific model is on the list. Let HP scan the system for driver updates.

Hi, sorry if this has already been asked, I had a quick look around and couldn't find it though.
My itunes (version 10) has decided it doesn't want me to download any podcasts. I find the ones I want and when I click on the Free/download button it looks like it pushes but doesn't do anything. I can play the pocast (streaming) on the computer but it doesn't download. I have even tried clicking on subscribe and that doesn't work anymore either, (it asks me to confirm I want to subscribe and that it will download the latest one but nothing happens) Please note that I can download podcasts through my iPhone so I don't think the problem has anything to do with the phone

Also, every time I connect my iPhone and click sync, it says it has detected software that was downloaded on the phone and do I want to back it up to the computer. It proceeds to do this (according to the status bar) but then the very next time I connect it says the same thing and proceeds to back up the same apps again.

What the heck is going on??

Thanks for any help

I can not get iTunes music to sync to my iPhone 3G.

I have iTunes 8.2.1 and firmware 3.0 on my iPhone. Mac with OS X 10.5.6.

I have tried a number of things:

- Uninstalling & re-installing iTunes
- Resetting iSync data
- Deleting and re-importing my iTunes library
- Automatic music syncing as well as "Manually manage music and videos" (drag and drop)
- Various music selections (in other words, it's not failing on a particular song/music track or playlist)
- Restoring my iPhone (with & without restoring the backup)
- Syncing the iPhone on another computer (it syncs fine over there so I think I've ruled out that the issue is the iPhone)

The symptoms are this: I can sync apps & video to the iPhone with no issues. But when I try to sync music, it runs through the process ("syncing x of y") but when it gets to the end, it results in "An unknown error occurred (13001)" error from iTunes.

On the Summary screen in iTunes, I see the music taking up space but when I look on the iPhone, it shows no music content (apps & video are there).

If I try the "manually manage music & videos" option, I can drag 2 songs to the iPhone but when I try to do a third, I get the same 13001 error.

There's obviously something that happens at the end of the iTunes music sync that (for lack of a better description) writes the file/music directory. That's where it fails.

I've searched for solutions for a couple of d... Read more

A:iTunes error 13001 syncing music

I thought I would post this for others' benefit - it was a weird one.

Even though I was able to copy the entire music library to another Mac and sync it to the same iPhone with no problem, the more I kept experimenting on the machine with the problem, the more I narrowed it down that it looked like an incompatibility (or corruption) with a file or files. So, I added columns to display the Bit Rate and Sample Rate. Then, by sorting those columns and syncing combinations until it broke, I worked my way through looking for an offender.

It ended up being Sample Rate. For whatever reason, any music file with a Sample Rate over 44.1 kHz (so 48 kHz) would cause the 13001 error (thanks for being so descriptive, by the way, Apple!). So, I just converted the few songs that my daughter had that were 48 kHz down to 44.1 kHz and no more 13001 error syncing music!

I hope this info can help someone some day. It drove me nuts!

I'm trying to pinpoint an issue I'm having in 7 RC x64. I have an iPod Touch which requires iTunes to sync music with it, and my music directory is on an external hard drive.

When listening to music, the drive and iTunes perform just fine. iTunes also finds and works with my iPod Touch, until I decide to sync music. The iPod disconnects from the bus, my external hard drive stops, and iTunes freezes for about 10 minutes until it spits back an "iPod device timed out" error. I have to restart my computer to use my hard drive again.

I'm not sure if this is an issue with my hard drive, iPod, iTunes, or 7. I was using Vista and XP for a long time and the iPod always synced just fine with the music on my external. I have had issues in the past with 7 failing to read my hard drive randomly, but that seems to have stopped as of recent.

Is anyone else having issues with iTunes, or USB devices, in 7?

P.S. I even tried an x86 XP VirtualBox, but the same thing happens. I don't want to install another permanent OS, as I seem to do it every week anyway

A:iTunes, syncing, and external hard drives

I updated to 7 RTM (MSDN) and I'm still having similar issues, and so are a few of my co-workers and friends.

Turns out it's an issue with either Windows 7 and how it manages USB devices or the NForce system drivers. It's a USB issue, not an iTunes issue like I originally thought. I can't copy anything large to my USB devices - the system's CPU usage shoots sky high and all my USB devices disconnect. The only way I've found to fix it is to do a complete reboot. It's really inconvenient and frustrating when I can't use my external hard drive...

Is anyone else having this issue with their USB drives?

The link you provided in your edit is for Vista but I think I may have found what you're looking for.

The folder is hidden so, click on the Start Orb and type (without quotes) "%appdata%" and hit enter.

It the resulting Explorer window navigate to Apple Computer/MobileSync/Backup.

I took a look inside mine and just saw a bunch of data files. I imagine the info you're looking for is in there somewhere. Hope this helps.

Yeah, it appears in the article you linked that the guy used a Mac to decrypt the binaries for the address book data. He said "ideally" you'd use a Mac but didn't give any other alternative.

Sorry about the cryptic title. I'm not sure weather this should be under phones or software but given it's phone related I thought I'd start in here.

Let me start by saying I do understand this sites policies and I'm not asking for help in illegal activities just trying to find some software that will backup and sync my iPhone, lock, stock, and barrel without using iTunes.

I've got a rather large dislike of iTunes thanks to it's rather useless format compatibleness and I'd say the same for the iPhone as well. But well the iPhone 4 was a gift so I have to figure out work arounds now.

Ok I found CopyTrans Manager and have been liking being able to use it to sync my music however using it means iTunes freaks out and tells me I have to do a restore. You can see why I don't like iTunes. Then because I figured out very fast that converting all of music to MP3's was going to take sometime. I jailbroke it in the knowledge that there was supposed to be alternative to the iPod player that read nearly any file I could throw at it. Did that and then discovered I hadn't dug far enough to find out that it's not operational on the iOS4. To compound the matter I'm having troubles activating my SIM which I'm partially attributing to the jailbreak so I want to restore it. However I want to backup all of my stuff in case I decide to go back at sometime in the future.

- Installing iTunes 9 32-Bit, which worked and detected the iphone but only came up with a message saying that i needed to install the 64bit version, which shows in a way that itunes and windows 7 can see it.

I really am now stuck as to what it might be, so anyone that can help me, i will be highly gratefull.

Last April my computer crashed and after it was up again someone stole my iPhone. I have been in the process of finding my music which was stored on my D: drive under "MP3's" After the crash and rebuilding, the D: became the J: I was able to save most of the C:\Documents and Settings\User\ files and that probably confused iTunes and the reinstalled iTunes didn't like that since most of my playlists had been created with the D: drive.
To make a long story shorter I have been able to find and add most of my music to my library, but there are a bunch of duplicates and a large bunch of files with sort of an exclamation point in the column b4 the title which seems to indicate that iTunes can't find those tunes but the same song is next to the unfound one's and it is recognized. I have tried sorting the columns by title, by artist, etc. but can nor sort by the exclamation point so that all of the bad tunes would appear next to each other and would make it easy to delete them. My only choice now is to hold down the CTRL key, scroll, and click on the bad file, and find the next one and click on it and after my finger and eyes are tired I right click and delete a bunch of them and then keep going. How else can I get the bad tunes out of my library?

Hi, I have iTunes 9.0, recently updated and uninstalled the old version and re-installed 9.0 and updated iPhone firmware to 3.1 and everything is new and sweet, except itunes takes its sweet time to boot up and iphone connection freezes it for a few minutes while it establishes itself in the left bar of iTunes, now, that is a slight problem if I just want to sync one song and that song transfers in like 3 seconds, whereas the connection takes 5 minutes, so its a long time. Along with any suggestions on this issue, does anybody know how I can access the photo files on my iPhone? like the photo's I've taken myself.. I've found several programs to do so but they all cost around $20 and this seems a waste..

Any help, suggestions and replies are much appreciated,

Your computer recognises the iphone as a camera device.Try this:

*Right-click "My Computer" & select Manage
*Select Device Manager
*In the right-hand pane, expand Imaging Devices&select the iPhone (camera)
*Right-click the iPhone camera & select Properties
*Click the Driver tab
*Click "Update Driver..."
*When asked if you should connect to the internet, select No,not this time
*Select Install from a list or specific location (Advanced)
*Check "Include this location in the search" and point it to:
C:\WINDOWS\system32\DRVSTORE\usbaapl_4351B7DAFF62F D33510D77DFAE3CF8CC82517571
*Click Next
*The driver should install and now when you open iTunes you will see your iPhone.

Hello Everyone,

I have just upgraded to Windows 7 and have had minimal problems doing so. I am however having issues with my IPhone in iTunes. The upgrade has trasnferred everything perfectly but when I connect my IPhone via USB my computer recogines it (but as a Digital Camera) but iTunes doesn't.

Does anyone have any information on fixing this issue?

Any assistance would be greatly appreciatted.

Hi Raptor and welcome to the forum!

Please make sure that you have the latest iTunes from Apple website. That should sort out your issues.

I've uninstalled itunes from the control panel and even with Revo Uninstaller multiple times. I've checked my Virus protection firewalls to make sure they are not interfering. I have also tried multiple iPods and its the same story with my computer, But i connect my iphone to another pc and it works just fine. HELP!!

I would start out here. http://www.apple.com/support/iphone/assistant/itunes/

Those are some troubleshooting instructions that Apple has to offer about connecting your iPhone to iTunes. Just come back if they were not helpful.

My tools are 1) Windows XP 2) iPod Nano 3) iTunes library/playlist (recently updated also)

I went to iTunes store looking for a Christian song and found it. But instead of letting me buy it, it gave it to me for free, i.e., free download. It was called iTunesU. I don't know what that means and I'd never seen that before.

Anyway, later I find out that this download went into a special folder and fortunately, I was able to "transfer" the song to my iTunes library, and hencefort, I dragged it into a particular playlist.

The song appears on my PLAYLIST screen to sync but when I physically attempt to sync my iPod to the iTunes Playlist, that particular song (and "only" that particular song) does not show up on the iPod playlist. Wassup with that? I don't know what to do and I am pretty much a computer illiterate (sorry!)

In short, it seems to appear on screen only and the song is there if I want to listen to it (on computer), but it does NOT want to transfer into my iPod. How can I make it actually transfer to my iPod so I can listen to it there instead of listening from the computer?

Thank you.

Hi There -

I noticed on iTunes that there is an option to sync both your Outlook Cntacts and Outlook Calender to the iPod.
I am just wondering if it also possible to sync your Windows Live Contacts and Windows Live Calender to the iPod instead?

Thanks in advance

I suggest exporting the library to a file, just in case. Then download and reinstall itunes again to reinstall the components.

I have a Dell Studio 1569 with Windows 7 Professional x64, 4GB RAM, Intel i5 Core.

When I plug my iPhone into the USB port and open iTunes, iTunes says "An iPhone has been previously synced with this computer."

Then I'm asked if I want to "Set up as a new iPhone" or "Restore from the backup of:"

I've already connected this phone in the past. However, each time I reconnect, I have to either restore or create a new phone, both of with require deleted and losing info and media on my iPhone.

Been all over Google with this issue, none of the suggestions worked for me.

I've read about the Gigabyte P55 BIOS update. My computer doesn't have a Gigabyte Motherboard. I tried that fix anyway and the program wouldn't let me run it because it's not a Gigabyte product.

I've read in some places that on some Dell laptops, the USB ports don't work well with iPhones. That's absurd and I can't imagine that would be the proble; I hope that's not the issue.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

My computer is 1 week old.  I have already spent 20 hours with various techs and apple support to get it up and running.  I spent 3 hours on the phone with HP only to be told I have to pay if I want my new computer to work!  I followed all your steps listed to get my itunes to recognize my phone, but when I searched for drivers, it went to my name and said they were up to date, but itunes still doesn't recognize my phone.  I was told by an HP sales person to go to HP and download the software media driver, but all that did was to install a new photo program I didn't want!!!  How do I get itunes to recognize my phone???  I am getting ready to return this computer!!!!!!!!!!!

A:itunes not recognizing my iphone in windows 10

Hi @dancernancy? I have brought your issue to the attention of an appropriate team within HP. They will likely request information from you in order to look up your case details or product serial number. Please look for a private message from an identified HP contact. Additionally, keep in mind not to publicly post serial numbers and case details. If you are unfamiliar with how the Forum's private message capability works, this post has instructions.

My Windows 7 x64 can now see my iphone after reinstalling Apple USB drivers but iTunes can't since I upgraded to iTunes 12.3 (it worked on iTunes 11 in the same computer: vaio laptop VPCCW).

I tried everything about the subject I found on the web to no avail (resetting device & PC, restarting Apple drivers, trying multiple USB ports and cables, etc.). I also reinstalled iTunes (although didn't clean the PC after uninstalling iTunes).

Please do you have a suggestion ?

A:Windows sees iPhone but not iTunes 12.3

Hmmm well to start with, do you get two "happy insertion sounds" when you plug-in your iPhone? Do you see the iPhone in Windows Explorer i.e. when you double-click on My Computer on the desktop do you see "Johnny's iPhone"? Are Apple Mobile Device Service and Bonjour Service set to Automatic and are they Started in services.msc?

A:I want to download my itunes songs to my iphone an...

Do you have the Itune app installed on your laptop as to sync your music from Apple Itunes this program must be installed, if you do have it installed then open that program and using your Apple usb cable connect your iphone and and sync your music using the Itune app and then do the same with your shuffle device. If you don`t have it installed then download it from apple and open the program and authorize your laptop with the app and your Apple account then plug your devices back in, then using the app sync your device with the apple app and your programs and music should be there.

OK. I have Windows Vista. I have ITunes. My son's Iphone, when plugged in, does show as a device. However, after 30 seconds or so, I always get this error:
We could not complete your ITunes Store request. The network connection timed out. Make sure your network setups are correct and your network connection is active then try again.

Well ... I certainly have a network connection, so I doubt that's the problem. What now?

I lost a lot of music when I reinstalled my OS its Apples way of spoiling your day.
There is an alternative and hopefully avoid the extortionate $70 fee.

I am sure others, more experienced here, have alternates too.
