Yoga 3-1470 Windows 10 explorer crash on external monitor disconnect or resume

Q: Yoga 3-1470 Windows 10 explorer crash on external monitor disconnect or resume

I've been trying to debug this problem with my Yoga 3-1470 for ages. Basically most times when the external monitor gets disconnector, or when I just use the computer on its own and resume it, explorer seems to hang. That in itself isn't annoying. Unfortunately when explorer restarts the touchpad doesn't respond to two finger scrolling and it lags quite often. The behaviour of the trackpad is fine on a fresh boot however. I've tried updated all of the drivers and none of those seem to help. Any suggestions are appreciated, thanks.

I recommend downloading and running DAP. It can help sort out any driver and firmware related issues on your system

It's worked out well for many of us in the past.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloaddap.org. (This link will open the download page of DAP so you can save a copy to your computer.)

Hi, I have an Thinkpad X1 Carbon 6th gen, 20KG. (with Intel UHD Graphics 620)I recently bought an external 4k monitor (HP Z27).The monitor provides the following ports:1 DisplayPort? 1.2; 1 mini DisplayPort? 1.2; 1 HDMI 2.0; 1 USB Type-C? (Alternative mode DisplayPort? 1.2, power delivery up to 65 W)  I tried connecting from my laptop's USB C port to by monitor's USB C port. The display is detected, the image shows up at [email protected] then in a couple of seconds the external monitor loses connectivity and turns off while the thinkpad power button starts blinking intermmitently for a couple of seconds. Then it usually resumes connectivity with the monitor and after a few seconds the whole process of disconnecting and flickering is repeated rendering the whole setup unusable. I can connect without issues via the HDMI 1.4 port on Lenovo X1 Carbon to the HDMI 2.0 port on the monitor. I use a HDMI 2.0 cable. This setup works but only allows [email protected] which is unnacceptably laggy.  I did try a couple of things without any success:- Updating all drivers including flashing the latest BIOS. My current system information is:- Windows 10 PRO x64 10.0.17134 - Display adapter driver version is 24.20.100.6344 (9/14/2018). - BIOS version N23ET59W (11/8/2018)- Monitor driver is HP 1.0.0.0 (10/27/2017) Please help or advice what I could do get a [email protected] Hz setup?  I also tought of buying a Lenovo USB C to HDMI 2.0 or USB C to Display port adapter but it would ... A:External 4k monitor flicker and disconnect via USB C

There are two USB-C ports on the laptop; both are also TB3 ports (USB-C alt mode). There are hubs/docks that can pass the charger's power and Displayport via the same cable (and some monitors has native support for this, like Lenovo's P24h & P27h). EDIT: I somewhat misread your question. I'd look into why the HP Z27 is not working via USB-C. You still do have 2 USB-C ports on the laptop. EDIT2: Did the monitor come with its own USB-C cable? USB-C DP Alt Mode + Power Delivery (the two functions you are looking for) requires a full USB-C cable, with all of the pins present. A lot of USB-C cables (sometimes called, "USB-C 2.0 charging cables," or something like that) don't connect all of the pins, simply to save a bit of cost. Usually, a monitor of this type should supply one working cable. EDIT3: Just my own observation (so I can very likley be wrong), it appears to be a common issue with HP monitors not working well with USB-C.

I have an X1, fairly new, and it is connected to a OneLink docking station.  The docking station has two monitors attached via display port. When I lock the computer to leave my area and come back to unlock the computer (after as little as a minute), the external monitors have turned off to standby and it takes5-10 seconds to turn on from standby mode.  I would prefer that my external monitors stay on, while the computer is locked. I have attached a picture of the computer display/power settings.

I bought this machine in May 2015.  I began to have problems with it not too long after but since I was abroad I coud not send it out.  I finally sent it out in April 2016 (right before warranty ended).  They fixed some of the issues and sent it back, sadly I had to go back before I could get my laptop in May 2016.  I came back about 4 weeks ago and have been using it again since. Today as I was working on it after I plugged it in (it was at 7% battery), I noticed it only charged to 99%, it didn't show 100% like it typically does.  I didn't think anything of it and just went about my work. When I changed stations and moved upstairs I plugged it back in and noticed it is not charging at all. Tried several outlets, and tested the adapter, all is fine.  The kicker is when I unplug the adapter the laptop shuts off too, even tough I was 70% battery life.  Then it takes 10 or more seconds of holding the power button to fire it back up. I am pretty distraught over this. Would be grateful for any advice on what is going on. This machine is basically new! I have used only a handful of months and now my warranty is over! I can't afford another one or repairs

I turned it on, everything looked good. It's the first time I turn it on for the past 2 weeks. I checked my emails and then looked for Lenovo updates, knowing that there was some security issue with Lenovo Solution Center. Tried to update to the latest Yoga Mode Control 1.0.0.9, but didn't seem to install. Next I updated Lenovo Utility to 3.0.0.4. Tried updating LSC, didn't work. Downloaded LSC manually and started the install. In the meantime, I was checking for Windows updates, found the ones release on May 10th, downloaded them and proceeded to install. While installing screen started to act funny, first it turned a bit pinkish, 10 seconds later went back to normal. One minute later it started to have these lighter vertical bars of random thickness and it stopped responding to any keyboard or touchpad input. 30 seconds later the colors slowly started to fade, wasn't able to see the icons anymore and the screen went all vertical bars of various white/grey/black nuances. Closed the lid, put it to sleep got back, same thing. Tried turning it off from the button, no luck. Pressed the Nova button it turns it off and then back on to the same bars. I'm not sure how to restart it or turn it off, or get into safe mode since I can't see anything on the screen. I don't have a micro HDMI cable so I can't check the HDMI output. Warranty run out exactly one month ago.Any ideas?

I have a Thinkpad X1 Extreme (20MF000CUS) connected to two external 4K monitors via Lenovo Thunderbolt Workstation Dock (40AN0230US). Windows 10 desktop extends to all 3 displays.Everything works really well except for a major annoyance: normally I have a bunch of apps/windows I leave open on all 3 monitors. Whenever I put the laptop to sleep and I then resume it later on, all app/windows I left open are automatically resized, moved and stacked up on the primary (laptop) display. Is this by design? Anyway to prevent this behaviour?I noticed that the laptop display is handled by the Intel graphic card while the two external displays are handled by the nVidia graphic card. Could this be the reason?

I experienced the same - and also inconsistently that the system is going sluggish/lagging heavily. To fix problem with HDMI downgrade to drivers for Win8.1 - it works but hopefully Lenovo will fix this issue with Win10 drivers!? Overall upgrading to Win10 has been a bad experience (regarding the lagging of the system which usually occurs after 20-30 min after logging on). I've tried removing all third-party startup programs (including Lenovos) - but to no help. The frustration is increasing - any tips will be appreciated :-)

I know a few drivers are missing but im not sure what exactly they are for. Anyone have any suggestions?

A:Windows 8 Crash on resume and boot

You need to change settings so it doesn't automatically reboot after system error. Go to SYSTEM>ADVANCED SYSTEM SETTINGS>ADVANCED>STARTUP AND RECOVERY SETTINGS and then uncheck SYSTEM FAILURE>AUTOMATICALLY RESTART. That should display the blue screen instead of automatically rebooting when an error occurs. Then you can see what's holding things up.

A:Windows 10 - resume from sleep mode crash

Go to drivers section, select your laptop model,EDIT the operating system and change it to your previous one. Then there will be BIOS(1) listed there on the drivers section.Download and Install BIOS. If that does not solve it, run a virus scan using an antivirus. i recommend THIS antivirus since its free.Blue screen on shutting down computer or putting and recovering from sleep is most likely cause by a virus.Hope this helps.

Hi,  I've had my lenovo yoga 3 1470 for just over a year, and so unfortunately I'm out of warranty.  I am running Windows 10. All of a sudden, I have no audio at all on my laptop; the task bar icon has a red cross next to it, and either says 'no audio device is installed' or 'no speakers or headphones are plugged in'.  I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling drivers, and even a clean install of Windows 10, but nothing has fixed the problem.  The powerbeep in the BIOS settings still makes a sound, so is this a motherboard issue? How can I get it fixed? I am not particularly computer-savvy, but would appreciate any help at all, thank you.

Hi,     My daughter's laptop has had no sound since a Windows 10 update back in April.  After backing out the update, I was able to get sound back by reinstalling the drivers and then the update in question.  I found it on a Windows forum for that update.  Everything was fine until the next major updaet and it started up again.  This time the troubleshooter is giving some messages I have never seen before.  This includes 2 messages that are making me think it is a registry problem.  Which is not out of the realm since it happened with Windows updates.      Included is a photo of what the troubleshooter found.      I have seen another post of no sound with the same model.  Just like hers, there is the red "x" over the speaker in the task bar.  When I right click the speaker icon the menu says "Speaker setup (UNKNOWN)", "Sounds" and "Troubleshoot sound problems".  When you hover the mouse over "Speaker setup (UNKNOWN)" it says "Off".  When you click "Sounds" sound box opens.  The playback and recording tabs both say "No audio devices are installed" and all the buttons (configure, set as default, properties and apply) are all greyed out.  When I go into device manager there is no sound devices at all.  I believe I have included everything. Thanks in advance,Dominic

Hi All, I just purchased Lenovo YOGA 530 14IKB and trying to set-up my station.   I'm unsuccesfully trying to connect 2 external monitors to my computer,  tried this 2 options: 1. Connect one screen using the HDMI port, and the second using Lenovo USB-C to HDMI Adapter then connecting the second using hdmi cable -  in this case only the monitor connected directly using the hdmi (without the adapter) actually worked. 2. Using Lenovo Thinkpad USB-C dock  connected to the USB-C port and connecting the dock to the screens using Displayport-  in this case none of the monitor worked. Is there something I'm doing wrong here?  I also tried to update the computer's BIOS but it didn't helped. Thanks!

In a strange twist Lenovo decided not to include a dedicated display port with the 720 13". The USB-C Thunderbolt port can be used as a displayport, but then, obviously, can't be used as a thunderbolt 3 port.I have a $800 dollar thunderbolt 3 card. What I'd like to do is get video out of my laptop to a bigger monitor so I can do work.I tried a USB-3 docking station and it was a nightmare. Is there any way I can use an external docking port to access the displayport in my laptop AND connect my thunderbolt 3 soundcard?I erroneously assumed that all this new technology would enable me to use multiple displays like on my old desktop computer, but what I'm finding is the USB3 solution introduced tons of lag, when it worked at all, and slowed down my computer. If anyone has any solutions, please let me know.

A:Connecting a Yoga 2 11 to an external monitor

Hi, welcome.

It shouldn't be hard to connect an external monitor to a laptop. What kind of port does it has? mini DP? HDMI?

What I had see on other cases is that some cables and adapters may produce some problems. So trying different ones that you may have arround, or connecting the laptop to a near by TV just to be sure it is not also the monitor.

My only ideas are:
1) Try Win+P key combination to be sure that you ar extending or duplicating the screen with the secondary monitor.

2) From the Yoga 2 11 support site, try update the video driver and see if something improves.

Give it a try to see if something works.

You might also need to enable an external display in Settings > System > Display.  But to my knowledge, Lenovo USB-C ports aren't Thunderbolt, so some things that work well on an Apple won't on anything else.

Yoga 730-13IKB, Type 81CT, Windows 10, 64-bit Before I purchase an expensive external monitor, like HP's Z27 4K monitor, I'd like to find documentation on the Yoga series support for external monitors, and the potential for the laptop to also be charging, all from that single cable.  Most likely, the arrangement would be using a single USB port to a hub that provides HDMI or DP -- can the Yoga deliver 4K (or lesser QHD), at 60Hz? After about 20 minutes of searching and reading user manuals, 620 integrated graphics reference material, and whether HDR is supported and whether HDCP 2.2 is provided.... sigh. I'm looking for a document written for an end user that accounts for the inherent capabilities of the integrated graphics chipset and OS, the limitations of the USB 3.0 Type-C interface, and describes what range of resolutions can be driven.  If the UBS hub makes a difference, then at least tackle part of that problem with a paragraph of "what to look for" in a USB hub, or "we've tested with the following," in order to successfully drive (and possibly receive laptop charging) from high resolution external monitors.  Use the HP Z27 4K monitor as an example.

I have disabled notebook's screen and I use only monitors, however it is impossible to use the Yoga Notebook in this mode, because my mouse cursor freezes every 5 seconds. I am unable to perform any productive tasks while using external monitors, which is very frustrating. I tried looking at the forum and have found that maybe disabling Intel Dynamic Platform and Thermal Framework (DPTF) might solve my issues, however when I boot into the BIOS I don't see any Intel DPTF option available under configuration window. Does anyone encountered similar issues? What could be a fix to my solution? Thanks a lot for help and suggestions.

I've been unable to determine what I need to get to enable my Yoga to connect and extend to my two Viewsonic (VS15453) DVI/VGA monitors. Is anyone successfully running their Yoga 900 with dual external monitors? If so, how can I configure my set to do the same? Thanks in advance.

I just got my serviced yoga 910 back after the display out usbc mysteriously stopped working. Now whenever I plug into the external monitor, the screen flickers and turns off and on every 5 seconds or so and it's very annoying. I think this problem is exacerbated when I plug the other usb c in for power. I've already updated my display drivers, and was wondering if anyone else had this problem?

Hello,I am looking for notebook that would be able to use two external screens and I have faced Lenovo Yoga 520 with one HDMI and one USB-C port. HDMI is obvious, but what about USB-C video quality? I could not find any sctrict information how does it (or even whether) works. My doubts are reasoned by my previous attempt to DisplayLink via USB-A3.0 which completely sucked (low fps, hard to setup). I am mainly using Linux and it was complete disaster - I had to use experimental drivers and after long fight I achieved about 15 fps...How It is with Lenovo520's USB-C? Will my monitor be usable? What if I use adapter to HDMI/DVI/VGA/DisplayPort? Shall I be bound by uncommon drivers or will it work out of box?

How many external monitors does the 3rd gen X1 Yoga support without a dock? The spec sheet does say that three independent displays are supported but I want to make sure that this does not include the built in display as well.

hello, i'm writing this in the forum because there is no Customer service Email address anywhere. i bought the yoga 3 1470 in april 2015 thinking that it's gonna be a great computer after using some friends yoga 2 for a few times. unfortunately, i my laptop has been causing me trouble from day one. it started with the ghost touching that didnt stop for a few monthes. The lab in israel thought replacing the screen will do the trick but it didnt. i fixed it without their help a few weeks after when one of your tech support uploaded a fix file for the problem. then, a few months ago the laptop started shuting down for no apperent reason. i sent it back to lab and the thought replacing the motherbored and my charger will fix the problem. but i still experience these shutdowns today. by now my warrenty is gone, so i doubt if calling your support in israel will help me in any way, so i hope maybe this messge will help.

I remembered exactly how much the battery is, around 50% until 60%. And I remembered that I didn't touch the f9 button, and the brightness is on the average. I don't know what to do. I thought make the battery runs out will solve it, but it didn't. I want to take off the battery and put it back, but I didn't have the tool.
