Slow Loading/Crashes

Q: Slow Loading/Crashes

Not sure if this is the place to ask, but i'm sure someone can point me in the right direction.

My laptop has been really slow recently. It's been taking ages to load up on start-up, run programs and shut down.

I think it may just be a few programs loading up on startup but i'm not sure. Is there anything I can do to check whats causing it?

Preferred Solution: Slow Loading/Crashes

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

A: Slow Loading/Crashes

You can check out and control what programs are starting up at boot up with a program called CCleaner, which can be found here.

Hello. Hope someone here can help me out. A few months ago I got a new motherboard installed because my old one fried itself and the pc was reformatted and windows was reinstalled. Since then, it was working fine. The start-up time had also lowered considerably and it was working perfectly for once.

This problem started a couple of days ago. One thing that's been happening for a while, my computer started taking longer to start-up. I figured it was just all the programs etc I have installed. Then, I have this one external drive that I got connected internally. There were times where it wouldn't recognize this drive; it wouldn't show up on My Computer. Otherwise, it was perfectly fine.

Now two days ago this started happening:
If I didn't skip the disk checking blue screen it would start checking a disk and get stuck there.
Secondly, the screen where it says windows is starting up.. it started taking really long for the profiles to show.
Then once I would log in, it would take extremely long for windows to completely load. There'd be a weird blue long where my quicklaunch bar is and no programs would open unless opened directly through ctlr.alt.dlt--> file --> new task (that's how i'm accessing firefox right now)
When i double click on my computer none of the drives show up.. it takes really long for them to.
and the kicker.. one of my most important drives (E) has been missing for the last 2 days. it hasn't shown up even on... Read more

A:Hard-drives not loading. PC extremely slow. Windows not loading properly. HELP!

Sounds like a bad hard disk, remove the second disk you installed, and try it out. Does it behave better?

If so, you should reinstall the drive and either:

1. Boot and run 'chkdsk' on the drive. Open a command prompt and type 'chkdsk E:\ /r', assuming the second drive mounts as "E:\", verify this before you run this command, and change as appropriate. Keep in mind that on a particularily large and errored disk this can take hours or,

2. Run the diagnostics that the manufacturer offers on it's web site and test the drive (do a long verify test...not a short one). Fix any errors you encounter. It's best if you get a bootable floppy (or like) version rather than a tool that you install in your windows.

(also a very long test, 500GB SATA2 Seagate's with the 'Seatools for DOS' for example take nearly 4 hours!)

Using chkdsk is very good at keeping your data intact, using Seatools is not, and could corrupt filesystem data (FAT, NTFS, etc.) when you affect a repair, however it is important to fix any errors you encounter to ensure good performance and life of the drive.

If the drive won't repair or BSOD's (crashes) during these operations I would try to backup any data from this drive in your normal setup and then get rid of the drive.

Post back any results from the steps you followed.

Good luck.

So, it started with FF not loading pages very well, "waiting for www.google.com" and such. Switched to IE and google Chrome, same problem. Started looking online for solutions, I have AVG8 installed, no hits. Tried Malewarebytes Anti-Malware, no hits. CCleaner detected two funny things in the startup, TDSS and GEST. Deleted both posts in the startup. Tried ComboFix, don't think that the whole scan went through, rebooted before a log was created and computer said that it restored system after a serious error (my translation from Swedish). During the course of my searching I found you guys, hope someone can help me.I don't know if it is related, but my hotmail has been sending out spam mails to my address book the last few weeks, I think it is caused by Windows Mail.I have also noticed when I try to load more common webpages (Google, various news sites, a Swedish maps/telephone directory page) I would see other sites being requested by the browser in the status bar, didn't think about it until I heard about a redirect virus, but it is definately wierd behavior...) I have followed the instructions in the "Prepare yourself..." post, attaching the required log files from DDS. I could not, unfortunately, get GMER to run completetly, came close once, but it locked up when I was to save the log. Now it just reboots as soon as I oppen the program. Whenever I turn on my laptop, it takes forever to load. Also, when I load it up, two processes pop up on the taskbar for a few seconds, and say something like "Loading..." or something similar. One of them, I believe, is mcplauncher.exe, which is some sort of Adobe Reader thing, but I have no idea what the other is, because it never says what they are.

For some reason my computer don't want to show online applets. I've tried both IE9 and Firefox 14.0.1 but this seems to be a JRE issue as both browsers show the same bahavior. I've tested both class-files and jar-files.

I've googled for any explanation or workaround but I haven't found any. I have no ActiveX filtering on and I can easily download any applet file by writing its URL in the browsers address field. I've even confirmed that the file isn't corrupt when it arrives.
It looks like the java plugin tries to download the file but never get a reply. So it times out and tries to load it again. During this time the typical loading-java-applet-logo shows. But after a few minutes the process stops and the applet area is left blank (white) or with a simple error symbol.
The Java console shows mainly the connecting attempts and ClassNotFoundException for the class requested in the HTML tag.
I've tested <applet>, <object> and <embed> tags. I've tried both sticky and non sticky declarations. With or without Java cache. All with the same result.
However, in few cases I have had an applet loaded and run, after loooong wait. This is why I think it is a network problem.

I've also noticed that others have asked about the same problem. But there has been no solution or explanation.

Okay, here I am again. I've already posted regarding this problem, but I thought I had it fixed when I restored my computer to factory settings. No such luck, the problem has returned. This time I will be more specific about what is going on. I can not access any microsoft web pages, I can not update, I can't access my hotmail account, can't use messenger (kids are going crazy without it). I have had norton installed and ran a scan, no problems detected. Now i uninstalled it. Please let me know what to do now. I personally think it has something to do with Messenger not being compatible with Vista, so for now I've uninstalled Messenger also. What are some good free virus and spyware programs that I can run? Here is my current Hijack log.

I use windows XP, running through my school's network. Within the past few days, i've noticed my computer to be running a LOT slower then it usually is. I also sometimes get a random window popup, however it never loads, so its just a blank white window that pops up. Also sometimes my internet pages aren't loading at all, or may load once, but stop working after that first time, such as facebook. i can get logged in. but if i try to do anything else it'll freeze and not load anything else, using IE

I have spyware blaster and SB SND. when i ran SND it found a lot of stuff and supposedly fixed it. I had adaware, but it recently will just show a crash report whenever i reboot my computer or try to start it, so i uninstalled it. I was wondering if my HJT log shows anything that might be causing these problems?

Please subscribe to this thread to be notified of fixes as soon as they are posted by our Team. To do this, please click the "Thread Tools" button located in the original thread line and selecting "Subscribe to this Thread".

Before you begin, take a read through these instructions and download the programs that I've advised. Save the below instructions in notepad or wordpad, because you also have to work in safe mode without networking support, so this page wouldn't be available then. You should not have any browsers open during the cleaning process unless otherwise prompted.

If there's anything that you don't understand, ask your question(s) before proceeding with the fixes. You should not have any open browsers when you are carrying out the procedures below.

Please allow yourself a few spare hours. Below are instructions for a virus scan(s) that can take longer then 2 hours.

So I was playing a MMO game called Wizard101, when randomly, I disconnected from it.
I tried first to re-connect to the game, no success.

So I tried going to its website, loads very slowly, sometimes not loading at all.
Then I wanted to try go to its fansite, to ask for support there, but it turns out that the fansite isn't loading too.
I try to load a few more pages that is related to the game, but none of them will load.
However everything else seems to load just like normal.

I try to fix this with using my usuall fixes:
I tried connecting to the websites on another computer. Didn't work.
Restarted my internet + reset my router back to standard. Neither did this work.

I haven't changed any of my internet settings in a few months; so I doubt anything there would be the problem.

thanks for all help!~~

If other websites are fine, then the most likely issue is that the website and server may be down. Nothing you can do about that.

Erm hi. Last night my PC was absolutely fine, and today it seems to be completely broken.

I turned the computer on today and received a "malware detected" message from Avast antivirus. I tried to move to chest/delete and the message kept popping up. I looked up NewDot malware on the internet (which is what Avast was detecting) and it said that NewDot prevents access to the internet, which seemed about right as i was having to use my laptop to access the internet as the time, because the other computer wasn't working properly. It said that i could get rid of it easily my going to Add/remove programs and uninstalling it, which i did.

After this i restarted the computer and the loading time was exceptionally slow, i thought it had frozen, but it was just taking 5-10minutes to load. When it finally did load i tried to access the internet through a number of different browsers, but none of them would load. I tried to open some other applications too, and they wouldn't load either. I went to msconfig and disabled the majority of my startup items, and then restarted the computer. Once again the loading time was slow, and no applications would start. I then tried to do a defrag, but the program didn't work. Then i tried system restore, and the application didn't load, i came back to the computer 5-10minutes later and it had loaded, but it came up with an error that said something along the lines of "system restore is unable to protect your computer, please restar... I don't know if there's an edit option on this site, but i couldnt find it.

Anyway, i've found a website dedicated to this newdot "foistware" as it is known: http://www.cexx.org/newnet.htm

It says that deleting the .dll will result in a broken internet connection. IT also mentions that sometimes uninstalling it will still leave errors in winsock.
This seems to be what has happened to me, so i'm going to try the LSP fix utility available for download on that site. The problem is that this laptop has no floppy disk drive, and i don't have a UBS storage device available.

I was just wondering, if and when i do repair the LSP problems, could that be what is causing my system to run slowly? I hope so.

Thanks again.

I looked and couldn't find any on going or previous threads about my specific problem so if there is please excuse me.
I am running WinXp Pro with Firefox 37, it has ran fine without problems really until now. Started Firefox and before it even opened I get a crash report that gives me the option to restart it or quit. No matter how many times I try to restart, even in safe mode it does the same thing, crashes before opening. So, I uninstalled it and removed all traces of it in my Reg and did a search for any remaining bits and deleted them. Even download Revo and it shows no signs of Firefox/Mozilla anywhere. Still had the origal install file so I reinstalled, did the same thing. Download a new version, did the same thing. So then I downloaded Opera and I'm using Internet Exploder 8 all this time which won't connect to certain sites I reckon because it's no longer supported. But, anyway I download Opera for win xp several times with the same result, it wouldn't load/install. And yes I turned off my Norton antivirus to install. So All I have is IE 8 and it's as worthless as you know what. Anyone have any ideas?
Oh! and I did a virus scan and a Malwarebytes scan with no results. Something doesn't want me online.

A:Firefox crashes before loading

Hi there,

It could be that Windows XP is no longer supported but try this, download/install "Google Chrome" and see if the same issue happens.

By any chance, do you have another computer at your place running Windows XP? If so, install Mozilla Firefox on that computer and if assuming everything works fine on that computer, then the issue relies on that specific computer you're using.

Hi. first time here =x

anyway let me get to the point. I just bought a copy of FF8 from my nearest retail bookstore and it installed pretty smoothly (less than 1minute, give or take). However when i try to run the program all i could see was a black screen and nothing else. After that when i pressed ctrl + alt + delete and pressed on task manager, the FF8 program had the status of 'Not Responding'.

I also tried to changed to compatibility mode to WinXP,Windows 2000 and Windows 98/Me but it also results in the same problem -- black screens.

Also when i changed compatibility mode to Windows Me/98 i recieve this error :
"The application failed to initialize properly (0xc0000005). Click OK to terminate the problem."
This error is not seen when i change mode to 2000 and XP(SP2).

is there anyway to run the game without installing any new 'old' graphic cards?

I have a Gateway laptop running Windows XP Home Edition (SP2). During the XP loading screen (the black screen with XP logo and green status bar) I would get a blue screen of death. The error message of this BSOD was:

STOP: c0000135 {Unable To Locate Component}
This application has failed to start because basekgjl32 was not found. Re-installing the application may fix this problem.

I was able to boot into safe mode and run a scan using AVG 7.5. I do not know what version of virus definitions I had.

AVG found a file named "basekgjl32.dll" in the C:\WINDOWS\system32 directory. AVG classified it as a trojan horse named BackDoor.Generic9.AJUI. AVG successfully healed it. I tried rebooting to see if that fixed the problem, but it did not. I still receive the same BSOD. To make matters worse, now I cannot boot into safe mode. I now receive the same BSOD when I try.

I have researched this BackDoor trojan and similar ones like it, but I have yet to find any methods of successfully removing it or dealing with this type of scenario.

Any help you could offer would be greatly appreciated.

Repair Installation:

Perform a Repair Installation
This needs to be addressed
Since IE7 is now and has been out, we need this information posted when we suggest a Repair Install. You can use either one:

You cannot perform a repair installation of Windows XP if Internet Explorer 7 is installed. If you do, Internet Explorer will not work because the repair installation does not restore the earlier version files in the %ProgramFiles%\Internet Explorer folder resulting in an incompatibility with the Internet Explorer 6 files that the repair placed in the %SystemRoot%\System32 folder.
To uninstall Internet Explorer 7:
1. Start / Run / appwiz.cpl / OK.
2. Select Internet Explorer 7 and press Remove. If you can't find Internet Explorer 7:

Hello TSG! It's been a long time since I found another problem which I can not fix by me self. But now, I have found one that is driving me mad! So I bought the game PURE from gamestop, and installed it on my windows 7 machine. My computer passes beyond the Recommended requirements, so there shouldn't be any problem with that. Anyway, it first took quite a while to install, I'd say about 5-7 minutes installing, and once it was done, I couldn't wait to play because I LOVED the demo. So I boot the game up and it takes like 20-30 secs to load the first loading, and then I get the intro video of the game, then another loading screen with the title, "PURE", written on it. This one takes something about less than 1 minute to load and then it asks me for creating a new sav and all, and once I'm done with that, the game stands on black screen for 1-2 secs then I get the program not responding error. I have downloaded the latest drivers for my graphic card, and have tried the compatibility settings, but none of these seem to work. I also installed the game on my Windows XP partition, but I got the same error. Then after all that, I took the game back to Gamestop and exchanged it for another copy because I thought it was the CD's fault. But no, even after installing it with the new copy, my game keeps crashing after it passes the save screen. I have no idea what could be causing this problem, as my computer is really fast and al my drivers are u... Read more

Exactly what it says above.

I use a program to support a Flash chat client, and this program forces links to open in IE. This presents a problem when I accidentally click a .png link, as IE7 opens, quickly flashes the Quicktime logo (which it uses to load .png, apparently), freezes, and Windows Explorer stops wroking right until I kill IE in the task manager. To clarify "stops working right," whenever I click any other window in the task bar, it just flashes instead of changing to that window.

Firefox is my normal browser, but as I said above, this program forces links to open in IE. I tested this by navigating to a .png image in IE independent of the chat client, and I get the same problem, so it isn't caused by the client.

I'm running an HP Pavilion m9040n media PC. Vista Home Premium SP1, 32-bit. 3GB DDR2 RAM. Upgraded with a GeForce 8800GT graphics card.

I know IE doesn't support .png as much as Firefox does, but other people who use the same client and click the same links don't have crashing problems, so...

Hello, Tech Guy Forums!

I've got a Compaq Presario 2410 laptop running Windows XP Home Ed. (SP2) that's seen a gradual decline in performance over the past several months. Boot-up time has increased to about 5 minutes now, applications load very slowly, even alt-tabbing between two windows can take me on the order of 15 seconds. I've been running Lavasoft's Adaware compulsively, but I'm concerned that it's missing something that's causing the slowdown. I am not seeing an popup windows, but the processor seems to be working quite hard even when no programs are open.

Also, I've had a Windows Update yellow shield popping up regularly for awhile now, which is trying to install Office XP Service Pack 3, but it gets halfway through and asks for the Office XP CD, which I misplaced during my last move across the country. Office works fine (except for the overall slowdown). I have no idea if the update I can't get and the slowdown are related.

I've attached a Hijackthis log in the hope that someone here might be able to help me locate the source of my problems. I'm not literate enough to interpret everything in the log, but I do know better than to start deleting system files willy-nilly. Any help given is thoroughly appreciated!

Hi all,

I'm using an Intel SSD 240GB 520 series.
Always loading very fast, i.e., about 8 seconds from cold boot.

Since windows 10 is installed, boot time is about 20 seconds and desktop icons take some time to refresh and load their images.

Regarding the boot time:
I've narrowed it down the an unexplained read/write access on my external HDD eSATA which is used for backups, though currently all backup process are stopped.
When I remove / turn off my external HDD, boot time is about 8 seconds.
I can't figure out why all of a sudden it required this access to this HDD.

As for the slow icon refresh.. I have no idea how to fix this and I was hoping to get some assistance on this as well.

A:Slow boot time on SSD and slow Desktop icons loading

Sorry it's an old thread. Just wanted to re assure you on the slow icon refresh. Fast startup is enabled on my machine (I have Samsung evo SSD 500 gb as boot drive plus secondary 3TB drive). I never timed it but literally load up of Windows is instant after BIOS. I never used an SSD before, I can't believe how fast it is and wonder whether it's fast startup working some magic or it's the SSD flexing its muscles. However back on topic, I do notice a slight lag on desktop icon refresh. Most are instantly visible but random ones can be generic for a few seconds before flashing up with their proper icon. I think it's relatively normal.

So my Hard Drive crashed today, and I thought of using the HDD from my laptop which I hardly ever use. When I connected it, my computer started up as normal, but once the loading screen appears it shuts down and restarts.

I have run the Repair tool several times, but it doesn't fix my problem.. Any ideas why Windows refuses to start? Is it a hardware problem? I believe, last time I checked it worked fine in my laptop.

The HDD that I'm using from my laptop is a WD Scorpio Blue WD3200BE

I have been having problems with my family computer where Windows gets to the laoding screen and crashes, which it does in a loop and then occasioanlly turns on. I had this problem a while back but a change of hard drive and a clean install of Windows 7 (it was previously XP) seemed to of cured it. But last night the problem returned, there was a BSOD out of no where and then it returned into its looping process.

I switched out the current hard drive, RAM and CPU with my other gaming computer and it also caused that to crash. So I first took out the hard drive and it still crashed but swithing the RAM again seemed to of cured the problem. However, when I put different RAM in the computer with the initial problems it still came up with the same problem.

I think the registry is corrupted but is there a way to bypass the registry checking?

Hello, I've gone through a bit of the internet trying to find help with a problem I've been having with Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic 2. Currently on Onderon (first planet I went to after Telos), my game keeps crashing on loading screens between docks and the market square, and the market square and the cantina (early parts of Onderon). I've updated my drivers to current, and tried (though failed, for some reason) to update the game, too. When it crashes, the KOTOR style mouse turns to the regular white windows mouse, freezing the loading screen right near the end of the loading bar, and coming up with the message that the program has to be closed.

I found a similar problem someone on these forums had (http://forums.techguy.org/games/933566-kotor-2-crashes.html), this was the only instance I could find of an issue similar to mine?

As for specifications, I use the Mss32.dll fix for Win 7, running the game in Win XP SP 2 Compatibility mode. My graphics card is NVIDIA GeForce 9600 GT for Windows 7 32 Bit, 4 GB memory, a dual core processor @ 1.87 GHz on a Dell Inspiron the precise name of which I don't directly know. I'd really appreciate any help as I've only been playing the game for about 4 days and since I'm really enjoying it, I'd hate to have to give it up.

Looks like your hard disk is not detected. Please enter in to BIOS setup and verify if the HDD is detected or not. You can enter in to the BIOS setup by pressing F2 during powering on.
Here is an example BIOS screen . If the HDD is none, it is not detected.

A:after 30 seconds of loading laptop crashes.

If it is still under warranty, you can call them and they won't charge you.

Otherwise, my first suspect would be your hard drive. Try booting it up with any Windows installation disc, or your recovery disc. If it boots properly from the cd, you can see whether or not your hard drive is corrupted, or dead.

Message back with what you find, and we'll go from there.

I had recently done some modification to my wife's computer and now it will no longer load up. It goes through the hardware screen for the motherboard, begins to show the Windows 7 icon, but suddenly stops and restarts itself as the icon begins to come together.

Today, I swapped out her motherboard, processor, and graphics card with new ones. All of the cables are hooked up correctly, but I'm unsure what the problem could be. Below are the parts I have put in it now:
Sapphire Radeon R7 250 (graphics card)
ASUS M5A78-M LX Plus (motherboard)
AMD FX 6-Core 3.5 GHZ 14.0 MB (processor)
If there's more that's needed to be posted, I will look it up, but that's what was put into it today.

I don't use WMP, but decided to give it a try as part of a test about some audio cutout and freeze problems with foobar player being discussed in a General Support thread and elsewhere. After adding the ASIO plugin from SourcForge and adjusting settings, I removed the two default locations from the library and added my own music folder. WMP then started to load mine, but after three or four items, the program crashed. On every reopening, it starts to load more of mine, then crashes again within a few seconds. Any ideas what might be going on? Thanks,

ASIO plug in - was that ASIO4ALL? If it was, that can be iffy. for some it works OK, for others it can cause other problems and crashes or be flakey. There is a lot of discussion (mostly negative) about it on the recording forums I visit.

This blue screen stays up for less than a second, needed to video record it to get the numbers. Windows doesn't load in normal mode, or any of the safe modes. I have tried chkdsk /r and /p. Bootcfg /scan fails, and /rebuild also fails. I have also cleared Cmos on my motherboard, which didn't work either. I also tested the ram, tried booting with 1 of 3 sticks in 3 times rotating the sticks, I wouldn't think all 3 would fail at the same time. The HD does show serial numbers tho and appears to be working. This all started when i was running a virus scanner, it crashed, and the problems started. Any help is appreciated, I have yet to try fixmbr, and a repair install. The fixmbr says it could cause a problem with the HD, that is the reason I haven't tried it yet. Any suggestions or help is appreciated. Thanks

This is my first time posting a question on bleeping computer. We are so thankful that you are out there to help us and not rip us off. I think my computer is infected. My desktop starts up very slowly, my internet connection is slow (it's slow in pulling up websites and some never come up). I'm getting lots of pop ups (even though pop up blocker is enabled). When I go to open the control panel, a flashlight pops up as if it is looking for it (it eventually does open but it takes a while). I had a problem at one time with a lot of POS.TMP files and followed advice from posts on this site to get rid of them. Well, my current problems started when a friend downloaded a music program. I believe it was called Soundman. When I noticed the computer acting funny, I went into the control panel and deleted it along with some other programs I found (PPC Booster, P2P Max, Ron Tool Adsoftinc, Wyzo, Eco Bar). Howdy y'all. I realize this is a bit of a nebulous question... I'm not doing it on purpose it's just that I don't have a lot to go on. Here's the deal: I have a machine(Dell precision T3500) with Win7Pro64 on it. I have both Xming and Exceed loaded on the machine. When I try to open an xterm (while connecting to either a 32 or 64 bit linux machine) sometimes it will work ok and sometimes it wont'. Actually it doesn't work most of the time. I can open a few xterms and some will work and some will be frozen. Sometimes it freezes the login window. But the fact that it happens while connecting to different linux machines and using different emulators (Xming and Exceed) makes me think it's a Win7/Putty problem. Sometimes I can just go get a cup of coffee and when I come back the xterm is frozen. I get a worthless error message that says something like "a problem casued the program to stop working properly" and another message that says "SSH, Telenet and Rlogin client has stopped working". I have no idea how to troubleshoot this. If anyone has come across this or has any ideas I should would be glad to hear them. Thanks!

A:Windows 8 becomes unstable and crashes after loading a map in Portal 2

We do need the DMP file as it contains the only record of the sequence of events leading up to the crash, what drivers were loaded, and what was responsible. If you are overclocking STOP You may be able to get the DMP files without crashing by booting into safe mode (F8) with networking. To enable us to assist you with your computer's BSOD symptoms, upload the contents of your "\Windows\Minidump" folder. The procedure:

* Copy the contents of \Windows\Minidump to another (temporary) location somewhere on your machine. * Zip up the copy. * Attach the ZIP archive to your post using the "paperclip" (file attachments) button. *If the files are too large please upload them to a file sharing service like "Rapidshare" and put a link to them in your reply.

To ensure minidumps are enabled:

* Go to Start, in the Search Box type: sysdm.cpl, press Enter. * Under the Advanced tab, click on the Startup and Recovery Settings... button. * Ensure that Automatically restart is unchecked. * Under the Write Debugging Information header select Small memory dump (256 kB) in the dropdown box (the 256kb varies). * Ensure that the Small Dump Directory is listed as %systemroot%\Minidump. * OK your way out. * Reboot if changes have been made.

Hi all,

I have a problem with my new computer. I am also new to windows 7 and am still getting used to everything. On the first start up of the day windows crashes to a BSOD just after the loading screen. I start windows repair on the restart and let it do its thing, then windows starts up fine. I doubt that windows repair did anything as no messages came up on startup or during the repair.

I don't have any information of the BSOD, my motherboard restarts after the crash and I don' get a chance to read the problem, I will post the problem when I have worked out how to stop it automatically restarting.

The computer runs fine after it is "warmed up" so to speak, and I am guessing thats why it starts after Start up Recovery has done its thing which appears to be nothing

I have attached 2 minidump files from previous crashes, windows didn't make one of the most recent.

Anywho, any help would be greatly appreciated, it's not really a problem but more of a nuisance.

A:Windows Crashes to BSOD after loading screen

ok, heres an update.

I stopped windows restarting after a crash and I could write down some info about the BSOD that came up most recently. It had the stop codes 0x0000008e (0XC0000005, 0x82CD9A8A, 0x8C7936A4, 0x00000000) with an error with NTFS.SYS PAGE_FAULT_IN_NON_PAGED_AREA.

Windows didn't just start up this time, I had to run startup recovery, and this time it said that it couldn't fix the problem and sent up an error in the system file integrity check part of the test with a code of 0x490.

I told windows to make a full dump file, so I cant send it my bad. I have changed but any help would be greatly appreciated.
