Preferred Solution: Brand New Yoga 910 won't start!

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Is this right out of the box? If so, let it charge overnight, then try starting using the NOVO button. If it still doesn't work, send it back.

Hi there,  I just unboxed a brand new Yoga X1 3rd generation yesterday only to find that the Esc/FnLock key isn't working.  It's lit up and clicking on it doesn't turn it off.  Similarly, the F1/mute button is lit up and I can't turn it off either.   What do I do?

Hey there, I just bought a brand new Yoga 720 13IKB yesterday. Now I just configured Windows 10 and realized that the Touchscreen doesnt work. Like, at all. Which is funny, because it worked once, at the first screen of the Windows initialization, where I pressed "Next" on the touchscreen. After the whole procedure, when I got to the desktop, however, it ceased to work. In the device manager it says 'this device cannot start" (Code 10)'  on the 'Wacom Device'. It also has the yellow exclamation mark on it. So I assume, that's what causes the problem. I just don't know how to fix it, though. I'm absolutely out of ideas at this point. The list of things I've tried includes:- Deinstalling Wacom Drivers entirely- Reinstalling Wacom drivers, first time from Wacom directly, second time from Lenovo page- Installing every othe driver, including chipset drivers- Installing all availably Windows Updates- Installing newest Lenovo Firmware- Installing new BIOS (which didn't work since the newest BIOS was already on there)- Giving up and doing a complete factory reset, including reinstalling Windows 10 None of these things did anything. Even now, after the factory reset it still has the same issue and the same yellow excalamtion mark. What the hell. It has to be some driver issue, since the touchscreen itself worked (once).  So what am I supposed to do?? I can't even return my machine and request a new one, since the st... Just got my new Yoga 920, works great, except in one scenario. When I boot the laptop while the USB-C is connected to an extra monitor, the laptop screen doesn't show up,. Instead I see flickering login screen with no way to stop it. Unplugging the USB-C to HDMI adapter has no effect, I have to do a force shutdown and start the machine without the HDMI adapter. Any idea what's going on? Thanks.

Hi everybody. I am brand new here. Last week I splurged on a ThinkPad X1 Yoga OLED. Today I fumbled it from literally 6 inches off my carpet and now the touch screen is utterly shattered. I can't believe it! The OLED display seems OK. I am kind of at a loss and would appreciate advice. It's factory refurbished with Lenovo warranty but I don't have any extra accident insurance or anything. I am in Boston USA. Thank you for any advice!

A:Shattered Screen on my brand new X1 Yoga! please advise

I wish I could say something more encouraging, but things are not good.  Without accidental damage protection, the warranty won't help.  The oled display is a single piece and that's what's broken.

Hi all, Just received a new X1 Yoga 3rd Gen and I'm having a ton of issues after updating everything. Started when I noticed Windows Hello is no longer functional.  Went into Device Manager, and I see Biometric Devices > Synaptics WBDI, Portable Devices > WPD FileSystem Driver, Sensors > HID Sensor Collection V2 (all 3), System Devices > Detection Verification, System Devices > System Interface Foundation V2 Device all have driver issues.  Status states device isn't working properly because Windows cannot load the drivers required. (Code 31). I have tried several refreshes of the laptop and the errors keep showing up.  I have tried Lenovo Vantage, but when I open it says I have to install an update.  I install the update, restart as it tells me to, and then when I open Vantage again, I get the same request telling me to install the update again. Wash, rinse, repeat. I have tried LenovoServiceBridge setup.  Also to no avail. I get the error "The drive or UNC share you selected does no exist or is not accessible.  Please select another." I'm also getting a new error that Windows Update failed.  Any ideas?  I've been at this for hours which is pretty inexcusable for a ThinkPad that is barely a day old.  It seems like I can't do any updates or anything.

A:Multiple Driver Issues on brand new X1 Yoga 3G

I would start by going to https://support.lenovo.com/us/en, entering your serial number and installing all of the available drivers, becauase Lenovo Vatage is not quite up ot par in my opinion.   If you want to update them automatially, use Lenovo System Update, which predates Lenovo Vantage and I think works better..

Hello, last thursday I got my brand new Lenovo laptop Yoga 710-15IKB. Everything went smoothly with the setup and the computer looked great was working fine. When I finished setting up some essential programs browser etc, and was watching a youtube video my laptop just froze, fan was running but the screen keyboard cursor frozen. I thought nothing of it and restarted my computer and nothing happened after that. So I thought I was free to enjoy my good looking device. But now after my third usage I closed my laptop and went out to run some errands I came back an hour later or so and tried to open my computer and keep on using it but to my surprise the screen stayed black. Completely black, no flickering or anything. So i tried to reboot it by holding the start button down for 10s giving the computer a minute or so to rest then turned it back on. Same thing happens Keyboard lights up for a second or two then the fans just keep running and the screen stays completely black. This is extremely frustrating since this is a brand new computer and I desperately need it for studying and work. Screen black, computer starts and runs I can hear the fans keyboard lights up at first but screen is completely black. I would appreciate a quick response Lenovo, I had so high hopes for my new laptop. Best regards, Elisabet.

So tent mode on my X1 Yoga Gen 2 is not working.  It was working when I first received but the fingerprint reader wasn't.  I updated the fingerprint driver, and that now works, but tent mode is not.  I've trired to follow other suggestions, but there is no rotation lock in my action bar, or in my settings whichever position  I have the Yoga in - tent, tablet, whatever - no rotation lock at all. I've updated all my drivers, aplied the specific fix for this, checked the registery settings, done an in-place restore of windows 10 - everything to no avail.  The sensors work as I can see the prientation just fine from a monitoring app I downloaded.  And one more thing - the service Sensor Monitoring Service is not running.  When I try to start it it says that it started and then stopped.  Not sure if that's relevant. Help please.  I paid a fair amount extra above an X1 price to have a tent style computer, and it's just not working.

Hello,  I have the following problem: When I placed my brand new yoga 910 on a desk I noticed that it was not lying flat! The down left corner (the rubber "foot") was hanging by 1-2 cm on the air - 5 paper sheets could pass below that.. Of course that created an annoying sound and wobbling when writing on the keyboard. It didn't seem to be an obvious at least problem with the rubber foot not being placed right or smaller than the others. Very strange!  I solved it temporarily by adding some small black stripes of duct type on top of the problematic foot to make it bigger.  You can barely see it, but still this is a bit annoying and worrisome that a new and expensive top line laptop came with this issue (how did it pass the quality control??? ). I was quite disappointed.  I talked to the Lenovo support in Greece  which as always were very helpful. They said they haven't had such a similar issue reported at least with a yoga and said that they could take it to a service point to see how it can be fixed. I can't do this now as I need the laptop for my daily work but I will consider this later. I am also not keen on replacing a whole working perfectly laptop on a DOA case just for this (I bought it 10 days ago).   I was wondering if this has happened to anyone else and if this signals any possible internal faults in the device. For example could this be the result of an overheated aluminum case that caused it (the bottom part... Read more

Hi MS12,

Welcome to the Community Forums.

Aside from allowing the battery to fully drain and go off on its own to have a fresh start since it is a new computer, it would be better calling in technical support at 800-426-7378 24 hours/day 7 days/week.

It would seem to have more of a Windows update issue here but do call them to best provide you immediate options to try.

Hope this help answer your query.

I JUST bought the yoga 2 11 inch and literally out the box it's slow. It came pre-installed with Window's 10. I use IE and Chrome as browsers and they constantly freeze while i'm using. I have to revert to browsing on my cell phone because it freezes so often. Same goes for when I use Excel. It's constantly freezing and I get the "(Not responding)" message at the top. It will come back alive, but it will be unresponsive or frozen for about 30 seconds each time. And yesterday I've just about had it as it was worse than ever with my browsers constantly "not responding" literally every minute! I've restarted my laptop and that didn't help. The only thing I've installed on my laptop is a messaging app that i've always used and Adobe reader. My cell phone is seriously MUCH faster than this. Anyone else run into this problem??

Just set up a brand new Yoga 3 for a client yesterday. Installed Office, moved his files over from his old computer, installed Chrome and Firefox and other basic stuff. Restarted the computer but rather than restarting normally for some reason it instead ran automatic startup repair which failed. I went into advanced options and tried to use system restore but had no restore points. Ended up having to factory reset it and start over putting his stuff back in. That went fine and everything seemed fine. Did some reboots and all seemed ok. Today he restarted the computer and again for no reason it went and ran a automatic startup repair which again failed. Again went into troubleshooting and system restore and it still had no restore points I could try. Having him do another factory reset but cannot imagine what the heck is going on with this thing. Its brand new and cannot imagine why the boot configuration is getting hosed like this. There is no unusual software onboard that should cause this. Office, Avast, Chrome, Firefox and also Classicshell because he still prefers the Windows 7 start menu to the Windows 10 one. Has anyone else seen this issue with recent Yoga 3's? Thanks in advance,Adam

I am facing exactly same problem right now with my Lenovo Yoga 510. No new softwares downloaded, no usb connected, no files transferred yet from old pc.. Still with probably just a windows 10 update and minor personalisations in settings, the laptop asked for system reboot. After that it went into 'preparing automatic repair' and goes to a simple black screen with no options. Tried rebooting 10 times, simply shows blank black screen.I purchased the laptop only yesterday.Kindly help someone.

Bought a HP laptop today, took it out of the box, put in the battery, connected the charger, it wouldn't turn on.
Charger is working because there is an orange-ish light indicating power to the machine.

Removed the battery and used only the charger. The power light was then white, but still no startup.

Removed charger, left the battery removed, and pressed the power button for 30 seconds. Connected everything again, still nothing. Power light is back its orange-ish colour.

Please tell me this is only because the battery is new and uncharged.

You must not turn on your new laptop until battery is fully charged! ( as told in manual you received )

This takes several hours ( in some cases more that 8 hours )
During that process laptop must not be turned on.

any help is much appericated.

I would first check to make shure that your power button is working properly. You can test this by jumping the two prongs coming out of you Moboard that go to your button.

if it still dosent work then find a new psu to try in your rig.

I bought a new HP laptop (at work right now and don?t know the exact model number off the top of my head) just about 1 year ago, and I have been having problems with it since I bought it. The first month or so it was working great, then it just started acting funny. Any time I would click on anything to open it, or right click, it would just "hang". The hour glass would popup and stays like that, unusable, for 5 minutes or so, then the program would open or right click menu display, but the next time I clicked anything the same problem would happen. I did call HP tech support and after a long conversation, the end result was that I just reformatted and used the recovery disks to restore it to factory settings. I barley used it for a while, then about another few months later, the problem started again. This time I just formatted and restored the os like I did before, but after setup was complete this time, the problem started again immediately. I called tech support again and they wanted me to pay $160 for a software diagnosis. I refused to pay and find it very hard to believe that this is a software/driver issue due to the problem happening right after reinstalling windows. I have only about 2 weeks left on my warranty. The first time I talked to tech support they did not charge me and also told me that if it was determined that this is a hardware problem, then they would fix/replace it under warranty.

So, I am asking... Does anybody know of why this c... Read more

Run memtest for 8 runs

im new to PC building so there are certain things i dont know, but ive done work on PCs before and had no problems figuring things out. I just bought a new setup and ive been putting it together for the last day or 2 and i can figure out whats wrong. I have everything connected the way it should be, hard drives, cd drives etc. The power connection is a 20 pin format, but the format the motherboard wants is a 24 pin connection. The power supple also has an extra 4 pin connector which im told is to makeup for the remaining 4 to make the 24 pin connection. Even with all of this connected it refuses to boot up all the way. For some reason though when i turn off the main switch on the PSU, and then turn it back on, then push the start up button, the 2 case fans will light up and spin for a moment, then everything will go back to being dead. I was also attempting to troubleshoot and i was playing with the pwoer supple connection and at one point i got the whole thing to continuously start. When i pushed the connection all the way in, it powered down. Im not experienced enough to troubleshoot this, but from what ive read perhaps my system is too much for the powersupply. in advance, i appreciate any help someone can give me

my system specs are
AMD athlon 3500
Chaintech vnf4 motherboard
2 gig corsair 3200 ddr ram
chaintech geforce 6800 video card
maxtor 120 gig ide HD
2 toshiba dual layer dvd burners
350 watt powersupply (10A/5A current)

A:Brand new to pc building, it wont start up

If you are using the 2X2 connector to make up for the missing 4 pins on the motherboard 24 pin connector, what are you using to connect to the separate 2X2 connector on your motherboard? If nothing, that could be the problem.

To make up for the missing 4 pins on the 24 pin connector you could use a 20 pin to 24 pin adapter (about $4.00 us) or you could check your motherboard documentation to see if your mobo will accept the use of a 20 pin connector. If so, the mobo manual will also tell you which 4 pins to leave open. My 24 pin mobo would accept a 20 pin connector but I went with an adapter anyway.

BTW, I agree that you should get a better power supply for your system. It's marginal.

A:Brand New Laptop Will Not Start Up! -blue Screen

The error points to your Intel video drivers as where the error occurred (not necessarily the cause of the error) by pointing to the igdkmd32.sys file.Try booting into Safe Mode by pressing F8 immediately when the Windows screens first appear. Or, you can launch Startup Repair by following these instructions: http://windowshelp.microsoft.com/Windows/e...2f3f351033.mspx

Your .dmp file shows a stop error of 0x124 which is a general hardware error .

Quote:
A "stop 0x124" is fundamentally different to many other types of bluescreens because it stems from a hardware complaint.

Stop 0x124 minidumps contain very little practical information, and it is therefore necessary to approach the problem as a case of hardware in an unknown state of distress

Some generic advice.

If you are overclocking STOP. Return to the default settings at least for now.
If you are running a RAID update its driver.

Long story short: Received my new laptop on Monday and I installed Windows 7 and the Drivers on Tuesday. I was able then to connect to the internet wirelessly in another room in my house.

My router is a 6 year old + wired Linksys G router and in order to provide wireless in my home I set-up a TrendNet Access Point N a year and a half ago. Though there are times that I need to periodically reboot we can access the internet anywhere in the house on our laptops.

The laptop at the beginning connected fine recognizing the TrendNet and the signal was strong. I then installed Windows Updates, Microsoft Essentials and the latest Adobe Flash. By the way, the W7 firewall was enabled from the beginning.

After a time I shut it down but when I came back this system will not connect at all.

1. It shows that the system is connected to the Access Point with a strong signal but when I go to connect to the internet wirelessly it constantly says that there is a problem.

2. Diagnosis says it?s my modem, access point, or router. So I reset them at least five times but nothing has changed. Besides, my two PC's have no trouble connecting to the internet. Two Lenovo laptops have no trouble connecting to the internet throughout the house. I even fired up my 8 year old Toshiba Tecra S1 using a TP Link USB adapter at the opposite end of the house and it connects.

3. Diagnosis diagram shows connection from Access Point to laptop but no connection from laptop to internet.

4. I did a syste... Read more

A:Brand new laptop: Wireless worked at the start, now it doesn't

run IPCONFIG /ALL

if it shows the current IP address as 169.x.x.x then the issue is not finding
(or being blocked from sending/receiving ) the DHCP service in the router.

ALSO, if you see an IP address like 0db8:85a3:0000:0000:8a2e:0370:7334
then you have IPv6 enabled on the laptop;
1) google for disable ipv6
2) apply the solution for your {XP,Vista,Win/7} laptop

reboot and reconnect

OK this has been bugging me for a whille and I've tried a few thing to no joy, wonder if you can assist?

I have a Utopia brand keyboard and mouse.

Other specs as in sig...

The problem is that about 50% of the time after boot and Vista (64) loading my keyboard isn't working. (Mouse always fine btw)

This is quickly fixed by unplugging the USB and re-inserting it, then it's detected and all is fine until next startup.

Now I have considered using the PS2 adapter, and maybe that's the answer here, but thought I'd ask for your ideas to try or other offerings

A:Utopia brand keyboard problem on boot/start

*bump*

Came back to advise the frequency is less (I think) but still happening.

I didn't try the PS2 adapter (yet but will shortly)

Just asking once more if anyone has any ideas on this happening and possible fix?

Typical Dell issue. I just got my new Dell 15 5000 series laptop. Spent 1 hour setting it up. Took a break closed the lid and now its dead. I have a power light on the front but screen wont come back. Have held the power button down for 10 seconds then retried it but nothing. It is plugged in just no screen or activity.

A:Brand new Dell 15 5000 series wont start up

You pressed and held the power button for 10 seconds. Did you try in this way?
Remove the battery and disconnect the power supply from the laptop and then press the power button for 30 seconds. Then connect the battery and power supply and press the power button to turn on thr laptop.
Also, can you notice any beep sound?

I apologize for taking so long to respond, I am posting the original msg and Megabite's reply, as well as the Hijackthis report. (We've been so busy, so the thread was closed. We just cope by not shutting the computer down, but had to the other day and it still takes 10 - 12 minutes to get to windows screen). Thanks Mr Megabite - for taking the trouble to (if u do) look at this again!!!

A:brand new acer aspire x3950 pc takes 10 - 15 minutes!! to start up!

I would take it back to Acer but unfortunately (at present) it suits our requirements and our budget perfectly. I don't want to downgrade, and I don't really want to spend more money for upgrading. I've had Acer laptops for many years with no problems at all. Click to expand...

It sounds like another faulty ACER - But i'm not a HJT authorised member - so it may be an issue

I will move to the virus and malware forum - Megabite is not approved for malware advice - only members with a shield icon near there name can assist

ALSO - Note this is a very busy forum, and so it may take a while to get to your posts, Also some members will expect a response from you within a few days, otherwise, they stop assisting

The computer was bought less than two months ago. It has 1 Tb hard drive, 6 gb ddr3 memory, windows 7 home premium 64 bit, Intel core i3 processor 540. We have 874 gb of 917 gb free space so it's not as if the system is overloaded.

It powers down instantly. On start-up it takes anything from 10 to 15 to 20 minutes to start up!! Even pressing f12 or del takes 5 minutes to "launch".

This is the second acer (exact same model) we bought within the last 2 months, the first had the same problem within the first day, and on the second day it had died completely (no lights, no sound, no life!). We bought another thinking the first was just a factory "mistake". It worked ok for the first couple of days, start up was not as fast as expected, about 2 minutes, but we thought it would be ok. Now it shows the same problem. We could just leave it on all the time, but it would be nice to have it work as efficiently as our other, older and less powerful computers.

I've searched the net and tried to do a select start-up by deleting what I don't need - NO improvement at all!
I've uninstalled the IDE controllers, restarted so that it can be re-installed, NO improvement at all.
I've had an online chat with an acer tech support guy who was no help at all - told me to run through the usual - check for viruses, do disk cleanup etc etc, did it all - NO improvement!

If someone knows of the cause of this problem, PLEASE advise! I cannot help thinking ... Read more

Howdy,

You could post your HijackThis log and see if anything shows up
Download HijackThis to your desktop

Click on Executable
Click Run and Install
it will launch Hijack This
Click on "scan system and save a logfile" usually in notepad
Copy and Paste the logfile in your next post
Using Ctrl+A to copy All and Ctrl+C to copy and Ctrl+V to paste.

Hello,
Today I received a brand new 7559 laptop and when I switched it on out of the box, the screen out not display anything but the backlight came on. Since then, I performed the self test for the LCD display and the colours appeared as they should on the screen but nothing else. I attached an external screen via hdmi and the laptop is running as it should, just not appearing on the laptop screen. I've updated drivers and such but no luck so far. Is there any way to resolve this or will I need to return it and wait another week and a half for a new one?
I opened up the back just to see if anything had been moved in transit but it all seems to be ok.
