I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

There have been some security problems with this machine, and I would like to rewrite the bios.  As it happens it also needs to be updated anyway.I can open the self extracing .exe file, 0vcn29ww.exe, and it gives me a directory structure.  But what do I do with it?   I've tried running this .exe file in wine.  I get a dialog with a button to continue.  I push that then it crashes with a "string too long" error.  I've read on some forums that one should make a bootable USB, but with what image?Ah so how does one do a bios update for a 510S-14ISK that is running Linux?

Ideapad 510S-14ISK - can SSD be upgraded from 256 to 512 GB? If so, how would I get it done, and how much would it cost? And while I am here, one reviewer said that this 256 GB SSD is a "slow" one. Is that true? Mike

How can I tell if this update is for my laptop? A message popped up saying I have a critical update and then this message says it is only for these models. Is it safe to say if I get this message then my laptop is one of these models? I can't find specifics within my computer to show if I have these models. I know I have a ideapad flex 4, but beyond that I don't know.

Hi, I've recently bought a 510s-14ISK, and am regularly getting timeout errors when browsing the web. Seems to mainly be when something is being streamed or downloaded i.e. Spotify. Spotify continues to work fine, but all websites will timeout, then refresh and (mostly) load up as expected. Any one else having the same issues? I've already exchanged the device for a new one and it's happening on both. Happens in all browsers. Doesn't happen on other devices on the network, so must be something wrong with the device.  Have tried https://support.lenovo.com/gb/en/solutions/ht502846 to no avail, and the two emails I've had with support about installing new wireless and chipset drivers haven't helped either, and the Lenovo Solutions Centre hardware scan doesn't report any issues.

So this morning I got the notif for the BIOS update and it said for Ideapad 510S 14ISK so I chose to update. After it's done, I connect it to my wifi like usual and I opened Chrome. But I can't load anything! It said that it had trouble with the proxy. I've had that problem before the update and solved it by restarting so I tried it again, but it doesn't work. Does anyone have any solution? I really need my laptop. Plenty thanks!

I have the same problem as listed here:https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/Lenovo-IdeaPad-100-305-500-Edge/Strange-mouse-pointer-behaviour-when-wo... I have tried the various solutions suggested here^, including the one that is considered to have "solved" the problem: downloading the new drivers. However, when I do this, it installs but I am left with an error message saying "Target drivers not found".Why will these mouse drivers not install on my laptop? Thanks!

I am experiencing strange mouse pointer behaviour after my laptop has been running for a while and a program is working in the background. The mouse pointer is displayed in a very low resolution, while jumping up to another part of the screen. So usually, the mouse cursor looks like this:  But when the problem occurs, it looks like this (and jumps up to another part of the screen):  As mentioned, the problem only occurs after my laptop has been running for a while (this may take a day, but sometimes only an hour) but when it does, it keeps occuring untill I restart. This has been happening since I bought the system about two months ago. System: Lenovo ideapad 510S14ISKOperating system: Windows 10 I already tried:- updating my drivers (using Lenovo Companion)- reinstalling windows (while keeping my files)- uninstalling Lenovo System Interface Foundation as recommended here- unchecking the box "enhance pointer precision", also as recommended here The problem occurs both with my external mouse plugged in and plugged off. Any ideas what might be causing this problem?

A:Strange mouse pointer behaviour when working in background - Lenovo Ideapad 510S 14ISK

Maybe related to this issue, maybe not: I also noticed a strange resolution in a few other places. For example, in the image below you can see that the text in the left box is displayed much sharper than that in the right box.  This occurs also after my laptop has just restarted and is of course much less anoying. Nonetheless, I thought it would be interesting to mention as the two issues might be related.

Hi, I tried to update my BIOS by downloading the according file from the Lenovo website. Unfortunately something went wrong and my laptop didn't reboot as stated in the Readme file. After 12 hours waiting,  I switched it off by pressing the Power button 5 sec. Now my Ideapad Power Button is on if I try to start it, but the BIOS won't start (Black Screen even after 30min waiting, Pressing Novo Button has the same effect). Now my question is how do I reset my BIOS or how do I flash it via an USB-Stick (I have no idea what BIOS version was on this Ideapad) Im really desperate, I need to use my laptop as soon as possible for work. Thanks for helping and if you have any further questions feel free to ask.

Good day everyone,I just recently bought a new laptop which is a lenovo ideapad 110-14isk. When I booted it up, I noticed that it can't respond quickly so I opened task manager and saw that disk usage is always at 100%. Due to this, even shutting down takes a long time and seldom I force it to shut down because it is very unresponsive. I observed the laptop for a few days and found out that windows update was slowing it. I disabled the Windows Update Service, and when I rebooted it, the disk usage is at normal levels. So my question is, how can I update my laptop? and is there any way to use Windows Update without the laptop lagging? Hope you can help me. Thanks in advance.

Hi -  I hope someone can help to identify what the issue is here, please? Bought a 510s-14 laptop back in June and and been using it fine until a few weeks back. When using the browser (Google Chrome), these 'squares' as can be seen from the photos below come up on the screen. I then have to shut the browser down and open it up again and it seems fine until it randomly happens again the same day or two days later. There is no pattern and I'm not doing anything in particular when it happens. Run the Lenovo diagnostic tool, which found nothing and everything is upto date on the machine. Any ideas, please?

That may be a glitch in Chrome from a few years back resurfacing that involved using the GPU for its 2D Canvas rendering, which is enabled by default. The first thing I would do is go to https://pcsupport.lenovo.com/hu/en/products/laptops-and-netbooks/500-series/510s-14isk/80tk/download..., and install the latest "display drivers and Video Graphics" drivers for your system if not already installed, because updated drivers may resolve the problem.  If not, you can open Chrome, and in the address bar type or paste:  chrome://flags/   which will open a page with some of Chrome's experimental features, locate Accelerated 2D canvas (should be 3rd one down) and click the Disable button below it. Best of luck,

I have been suffering the, what seems common, screen flicker issue with my yoga 500 when on battery. After reading through some threads i discovered the problem was either, Drivers or Bios. After trying both drivers from lenovo themselves, and the latest from intel/nvidia the problem still remained.i then tried updating the bios. After windows shut down, the Phoenix bios updater stated a message that the bios had been sucessfully updated. The laptop then restarted and no longer posts or goes into windows. The Nova button also has no function and just causes the keyboard to illuminate and the fan to spins for 10 seconds before stopping.(Same as power button)Any advice?

Hi my friends, before I say what is the problem and which process I passed last few weeks. My computer model is Yoga 500 14ISK. 3 months ago it started not charging battery and I think that is just self protection for battery and I didn't care for 2 months, because I wasn't using battery anyway. But But when I search internet few weeks ago I realize that is a system problem. Also after decrease to %0 and  when I plug in the electricity, it wouldn't let me open computer at least 10-15 minutes. Then I started to search solutions. These are what I did so far: First, I check battery if it is okey, and because of only 2 years old laptop and I didn't use battery so much it says battery is healthy like new one. Second, I found the lenovo optimizer program and try the calibrate the battery, I started program and wait for 8 hours. At the and it said unsuccessfull and also said battery not detected. Then finally, I think maybe it is because of bios update needed and I was correct. 11 April 2018, Lenovo announced a new BIOS update for this kind of YOGA series laptop, Which is must be good for me, and must solve the problem. A couple of weeks ago, Lenovo Vantage offered a bios update to version D3CN38WW. However, after I installed it, it seems that my battery cannot be charged any further than 15%. Also, charging from, say, 10% to 15% takes ages. Prior to this bios update, I never had any issues with this. I do not use the laptop a whole lot and when I do it is always connected to AC power. At first I already noticed that the battery level was lower than I expected (~40% while I use the battery preservation mode, so I had expected something around 60%), but this week I saw that it had dropped really low and that it won't charge past 15% anymore. What I tried to resolve it: - Charge the laptop while it is turned off. Doesn't do anything, the power brick hardly generates any heat. This would rule out any OS/software issues.- Try different settings (i.e.: turning on/off) for battery preservation and quick charging in Lenovo Vantage. None of these helped. What is peculiar is that Lenovo Vantage says that the battery's condition is good, but that the charger has limited support. The last thing is particularly odd, as it is the charger that came with the laptop when I bought it. I do not know that it said prior to these problems, as I usually didn't pay much attention to what Vantage was saying. As far as I can see, the bios update introduced this problem. I contacted customer support, but they say that my warranty has expired and that I should try calling the (very expensive) ... Read more

A:How to update BIOS on Linux

BIOS updates for your notebook are provided in softpaq form for use in Windows only.  Some HP notebooks do have Linux BIOS upgrade support, but unfortunately yours is not one of them. If you want to update the BIOS, then you will have to install Windows. Any Windows version from Windows XP to Windows 8.1 will suffice. The BIOS updates are in the driver and software  download section of the support portal for the Probook 4440s notebook at the following URL.http://h20564.www2.hp.com/hpsc/swd/public/readIndex?sp4ts.oid=5229487&swLangOid=8&swEnvOid=4158

Hi. Today I updated the BIOS (from here: https://goo.gl/XvRnGP). Everything worked fine and nothing except the Lenovo logo seemed to have changed. However, since then I'm no longer able to boot my linux partition. Previously, I had a dual boot and I could both run windows 10 and linux. I would always set GRUB booter in the first position of the boot priority order, but grup doesn't appear now. Also, I would press F12 and the UEFI BOOT MANAGER showed differents options, windows and linux between them. But again, pressing F12 does nothing now. I don't know how this happened. It seems like the linux partition has disappeared. Any suggestions are very welcome. Thanks in advance!

Hi

On the Toshiba EU driver page you can find only the win-based BIOS update version.
This means that BIOS can be updated from running system only and you need to run Windows OS in order to start the BIOS update procedure. Linux isn't supported in this case...

Here you can find the How to doc about the BIOS update
