Closing a window causes little blue disc to turn til window finally DOES close

Q: Closing a window causes little blue disc to turn til window finally DOES close

Hi Everyone,

I am not sure which Windows update caused this, but ever since that download, whenever I close a window, the little blue disc keeps turning until the window DOES finally close. (Hope you understand what I'm saying.) This happens after closing EACH window, ALL the time.

Essentially, it takes a few extra secs for the closed window to really close. It's irritating/frustrating because I don't know how to fix it. I've put as much of my comp's info in my profile as I know or could find. Have been working with comps for six or so years. Not a total dummy, help alot of friends , and always reaching to learn more.

Have never seen this problem anywhere or it would be fixed by now, lol Can't STAND the waiting it causes til I can move onto something else.

Any suggestions?? PLEASE???

CompInfo: Vista Ultimate, IE8--See Profile for more.

I thank you for your time.

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Welcome
Lets try two steps to see if we can fix the problem
Assuming that you are using IE go to>tools>internet options>advanced>resest and see if that helps.
Second try with clean boot to see if some software is behind the problem
How to troubleshoot a problem by performing a clean boot in Windows Vista or in Windows 7
If it works follow the instructions to find the precise cause

After about 10 minutes of being booted up, my computer acts very strange:

If I have a window open - any window (i.e., any application), and I click on the X (upper-right-hand corner) to exit the application, the application ends, but the display does not go away. In other words, the application has in fact ended, but the window stays on the screen.

Similarly, if I merely minimize the application, the display stays on the screen, even though in fact the application has been minimized.

I am running Windows XP Pro SP3

I've run everything, including combofix

A:Minimize or close (exit) window, window stays on screen

Hello hepplewhite212,

Could you please give me just a tad more info please? When did this start? And, do you happen to use Firefox? I see you ran ComboFix, but it looks like this started before you did so I'd like to rule that out for sure as well.

Thanks,

Hi there,
We are developing an application integration between Oracle EBS 12.2 and Cybersource(Payment Processing Tokenization System).  So from our EBS 12.2 front end jsp, we are opening a window for users to add their credit card. Newly opened window is being
redirected to Cyversource which is PCI compliant site. User will enter their credit card and submit the page. On successfull submission, cybersource will send accepted response and say that your card is accepted. Now, we want to close this window and have
the user go back to front end Page.

Above functionality is working fine in Firefox and Chrome but it does not work in IE.  Here is the javascript code which we are running in pop up page:
function refresh_parentpage()
{
var rf='Y';
if(navigator.appName.indexOf("Microsoft Internet Explorer-IGNORE") != -1)
{
rf='N';
}
if(rf=='Y')
{
<% out.print("window.opener.location.href = '" + (urlofourfrontpagewithallparameters)+"'"); %>;
window.close();
if (window.opener.progressWindow)
{
window.opener.progressWindow.close()
}
}else
{
alert("You might need to refresh the payment option page to load the new card upon this window close.");
window.close();
}
}

Can you identify what could be the issue and how can we solve it? We have compatibility view set to checked, we allow all pop ups, java script is ... Read more

About 2 weeks ago it was apparent that laptop #1 was infected with antispyware XP 2009. My husband tried to solve it himself without waiting for me, I'm the problem solver in the house. Anyway, he purchased Shield Dekuxe which didn't seem to work. He downloaded the trial version of StopZilla which found bad things and quarentined them. Things were working fine.

Today things are not working again. I can open IE and it will bring up the home page (google.com) but anything typed in the search box or clicked on from the drop down list of frequently visited sites just closes IE. I also cannot search. The window will open, but clicking on anything (files/folders, documents, etc) immediately closes the window. I also cannot find Windows Explorer.

Shield Deluxe is currently installed, StopZilla is uninstalled. We have Zone Alarm installed, possibly. I was doing online chat with Shield Deluxe to get it to work (the internet aspect) and they said to uninstall ZA as it would interfere with SD. I removed ZA using add/remove programs from the control panel, yet when I restarted the computer ZA started up. It is no longer listed in the add/remove programs list. However viewing All Programs from the start menu shows a folder for Zone Labs. Since I can't find Windows Explorer and I can't search I can't find the folder to delete its contents.

Laptop #1 is a Compaq Presario running Windows XP and currently cannot use the internet due to the above problem.

After some battling with drivers I was able to get the touchpad gestures to work, which was the last thing left to make all the laptop components work under windows 7 (which is not supported by Acer for this laptop). I could not find the solution anywhere on the internet so I thought I would share my results. First off I installed synaptics drivers v17_0_19_C from synaptis official website. After installation they are not recognized in the system and the touchpad has still the default microsoft mouse driver. I opened the device manager and manually updated the driver using the option "from disk" and pointed to the synaptics driver. Now in the device manager the device name is "Synaptics HID TouchPad" but still it is not functioning and it has a yellow exclamation mark. After reboot I started the "snappy driver" installer software which found an update to the touchpad driver. Voila!I got the synaptics console in the taskbar and all the gesture and scrolling options. Where is the driver from I have no idea though, it has version 19.0.14.36, date 2015-07-23, Synaptics, not signed.

I have usually been able to get the DOS window of a batch file to close by preceding the script with 'Echo off' and ending it with 'Cls'. But a batchfile that invokes Autohotkey and then a script in AutoHotKey, does not close;, not even when I end the batchfile with EXIT. I suspect that the focus may have moved from DOS, and so DOS commands are no longer executed. Whether or not that is true, how can I get the DOS window to close automatically ?

Hi. Things are really jammed on my Lenovo Laptop (with Windows Vista). Yesterday I downloaded a font from a "free"-font website. I followed their instructions but I must have done something wrong. Because the result is that my Windows/Font window is stuck on the screen. I can't close it, or minimize it or do anything with it. The other windows that I had previously minimized down to the bottom bar are stuck, too. I can't shut the computer down properly, or reboot properly. Here's what I was doing when this happened. I had downloaded the new font folder to C:\Windows\Temp. To get this folder to Windows\Font I dragged it from Windows\Temp to Windows\Font. When I let up off the mouse button, a one inch vertical line appeared there and everything froze. I can access all the programs that are on the desktop, and I was able to get online to contact you. But other than that it's froze-up. My husband said hit the Escape button, but I don't want to try anything until I hear from you. Besides, I don't really know what the Escape button does. THANX!

A:Closing Browser window without clicking

I would think a right click on the IE icon on the taskbar would give you the option to close the browser. It does in all other instances I can think of.

If that fails, you can always click "control, alt, delete" and get to the task manager and close it that way.

A:Stopping The Command Window Closing

Welcome to TSG We hope you stay awhile.

Insert into your code just before the return( ) from main( ) the following:
Code:
system( "pause" );
and that will produde a "Press any key to continue" message on your console window. Press any key and the window will close. This should be enough to suspend the closing of the window. Be sure to take that out before you publish your code though.

whenever i close My Computer or any of its folders or drives, explorer crashes
i dont know why its happening
please somebody help
whenever the last explorer based window is closed-explorer craches.
even my computer doesn't seem to update.

A:explorer crashes on closing window

try this, click on start and then run and type in "sfc /scannow".

This should take some time and afterwards, reboot the computer. Then see if this fixes the issue. If not, I recommend performing a windows repair on your computer.

I have come across an issue dealing with several games (Hellgate: London, Dungeon Runner, R.Y.L., etc. etc.) where from the launch window the game doesn't run. For example ill try to play Hellgate and open the launch window then click on the multiplayer tab only for the window to close. No process starts and stay idle in the Task Manager. No other windows open after the launcher. It just closes and doesn't give an error. My computer is up to date with all its drivers and Direct X.

(I've tried several search parameters to find if this problem was already submitted but couldn't fine-tune a search under 500 results!)

Using XP Home SP1, I intentionally open multiple IE browser windows - NO Popup windows. If I choose to close 1 browser window, all the active browser windows close!

Is this a scarcely identifiable configuration within IE or is this an indicator of another issues? I have popup blocker options on Google Toolbar, within ZoneAlarm Pro, etc. but can't find any setting which closes all browser windows with single click.

This problem has only established itself with the last week -- I haven't performed any software additions/changes/upgrades for a month!

Hello all,

I'm experiencing a problem with Internet Explorer 7.0.5730.13 where it would crash when I close the window. This consistently happens when visiting comcast.net and viewing any of the flash videos. I am able to replicate this problem with the following steps:

1. Open IE7
2. Go to www.comcast.net
3. Click on a video (such as one of the Top Videos), which opens a popup window
4. Close popup video window

The window closes, and then causes IE7 to crash about 95% of the time. The following error appears in the event viewer:

Code:
Faulting application iexplore.exe, version 7.0.6000.16574, faulting module unknown, version 0.0.0.0, fault address 0x60b47930.

Here's a list of what I've done sofar to troubleshoot this issue:

- Uninstalled IE7 (reverted back to IE6). Although it did not crash in IE6, I prefer to use IE7...
- Disabled Add-ons (disabling every single add-on, including Shockwave/Flash Player) Even with out the video loading up, closing the window crashed IE7
- Reset IE7 settings
- Restored Advanced settings in IE7
- Disabled many startup processes via msconfig.exe (pertaining to recent installed or unknown programs)
- Reinstalled video card driver
- Uninstalled all recently inst... Read more

I am trying to get rid of an empty window that I can minimize but cannot get to close. All that appears is a white window, and will not go away even if I do a system restore. If I left click on the mouse it will act as if nothing is there. The window is in the center of the screen at all times. Like I said I can minimize it if I have another window open but when it is on the desktop it covers the center of the screen.
Thanks for any tips you may give.

Whenever I x out of my last ie7 window, it takes many nano seconds to close. On my other computers when I hit the x box it closes immediately. I have been searching for an answer to this problem and am hoping that perhaps someone else has encountered the same reluctance of IE7 to close. The window goes blank, but remains open for a couple of seconds
