I recommend downloading and running DAP. It can help sort out any driver and firmware related issues on your system

It's worked out well for many of us in the past.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloaddap.org. (This link will open the download page of DAP so you can save a copy to your computer.)

I have regualrly run a System Update for my computer via Lenovo Companion and I've managed to have all updates successfully completed - all except for one. Lately, I have runs of Updates where I encounter an update for Synaptic UltraNav Driver, run it, but comes up as being unable to download and install - in spite of a successful initial download. Since its encounter a couple of weeks ago, I have been unsuccessful in fully downloading and installing this specific Driver for my computer. Is there any indication of issues for this Drive? And what should I do to resolve it? Also, if the Driver can't be properly updated, what is its purpose for my system? Any form of help concerning this Driver update issue would be appreciated.

HiT420 upgraded to Win 10 and 8MB RAM installed. When I go to Shop/support/Tech Support (update drivers etc); detect my product, it comes up with the 'old' stuff ie Windows 7 64bit and the old 2MB RAM etc.  This is causing me great confusion because I am unsure about downloading updates that do not reflect my current setup with Win 10, 8MB RAM etc. Someone (from Microsoft Community) who knows more about this than me suggests the following: and I quote: "According to the screenshots, and just as you've initially stated, it shows that your system is being detected as Windows 7.  However, this will also show if the machine was manufactured originally with a Windows 7 installed.  This would mean that the specifics of the machine on the serve page is not being detected, or it does not need to detect the machine at all.  If this perception is correct, what shows up is the default or how the manufacturer produced their machine.  Perhaps, for a reason that the machine was manufactured before the launch of Windows 10. It would be the best idea to contact the manufacture about downloading the drivers that will be compatible with Windows 10, and to suggest them that an update on their page will be helpful for the users." Additionally:- Service Bridge is running on my machine.Solution Centre reports no alerts.Lenovo System Update Centre reports no updates found.Windows updates are functioning n... I have the same problem.  My machine is Envy x360 M6-AQ105DX Convertible.  It started the day before yeserday.
I had F.21 installed, and Support Assistant notified me to upgrade to F23, 12/23/16.  I did so, and it worked.

Then Suppoert Assistant said I needed another BIOS upgrade to F.23 Ap1 1/12/17.  I installed it, but it just re-installed F.23.  I tried it twice with the same result.

Today, it is still saying I need an updated BIOS (F.23 Ap1),  So I went to  the HP site and it said the latest BIOS is F,23 Rev 1 dated 1/12/17.  I downloaded the SP file SP78934.exe and installed the BIOS yet again.  It reinstalled F23, 12/23/16.

Support Assistant is still showing that a newer BIOS is available.

Someone needs to tell HP that they have the wrong SP file associated with the new BIOS.

This might seem bizarre, but the Lenovo EOL portal does not seem to contain any drivers and the BIOS update for this specific ThinkPad. Only the G40 and the G41 were listed in the EOL portal, which seems a little odd to me. I noticed that Lenovo has removed their support page for this ThinkPad (http://support.lenovo.com/ja_JP/research/hints-or-tips/detail.page?LegacyDocID=SYJ0-006F21E), so it is not there. Looking a little more, I managed to find the old URL for the BIOS' download link - which was (http://download.boulder.ibm.com/ibmdl/pub/pc/jp/mobiles/7huj05/7huj05jp.iso, or alternatively in FTP form, ftp://ftp.software.ibm.com/pc/jp/mobiles/7huj05/7huj05jp.iso). All of these links are dead and I suspect IBM must have transferred the downloads over to Lenovo's servers, but I still can not find the BIOS anywhere in plain sight. The release date and the naming scheme of the last BIOS update was 17th of April 2008, version 1.04 (7HET17WW, 7HHT13WW) respectively. Has anyone got a clue on where is the working download link at? It would help me a lot for the search, thanks.

Few months back I got a Lenovo ThinkPad P40, it has been working just fine untill the latest BIOS update from Lenovo Companion (R05ET72W 1.50).  Since I use it for work, it is connected to power all the time. I have disabled Sleep & hibernation when plugged-in. When I leave the workstation, I usually just lock the machine (Win + L), so that I can access the laptop from home.  After the latest BIOS update, when I get back to work in the morning, ThinkPad does not wake up no mater what button I press. Opening the lid, shows a black screen, does not respond to anything. The red light on the "ThinkPad" logo is lit.  All I can do is hold the power button for 5 sec and re-power. This is horrible, as it will sonner or later corrupt my Windows installation.  I've had to do this now 3 days in a row, after the BIOS update.  I've updated all drivers and ran Windows 10 update. The EventViewer shows only this:"The previous system shutdown at 5:56:01 AM on ?11/?5/?2017 was unexpected." But I ran the force shut-down at 8:30 AM...

I googled the issue and found that this could mean my system reserved partition is full and indeed that is what I found. My C: drive is a 500 GB SSD but the system partition is only 100 MB of which only 3 MB is free.

MS web page has a long convoluted command line "fix" for this (https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/3086249) but I was wondering why I couldn't just "shrink" the main C: drive partition and then "extend" the system partition using diskmgmt.msc.

Or is there a better way?

A:latest update failed - can't update system reserved partition

Hello Ray Lo,

Yes, potentially you can do this... But I would suggest backup of your SSD, before you try to do anything as such... WRT shrinking and moving partitions! Just in case!

One extra step enforcing security does no hurt, does it?

Please assist. I have a 64 bit windows 7 home premuim and it is set to auto update. I noted the last updates dont what to install and checked the log.

The last successful (64 bit) update KB890830 ?Malicious software removal tool x 64? was on 16/8/2012. The next update was ?security update KB2589322 for 32 bit system. It was successful !! and so was a couple other following 32 bit updates. But then the next 64 bit updates failed. See attached.
And now my system cannot install updates. How can a 32 bit patch be automatically updating a 64 bit system? And how do I fix it? Please help.

A:32 bit update KB2589322 automatic updated on 64 bit system

Looks like that update is for Office and the 32 bit version. If you did not install the 64 bit version, the update is correct.

If you want to check, right click the white flag and open Windows Update. On bottom left, select Installed Updates and check the Office section.

So after installing the latest Intel HD Graphics driver (22.20.16.4836) using Lenovo Update my external monitors (on a WiGig dock) no longer work! I can see them in Windows, but when I go to "Extend desktop" to them the laptop screen blanks out for a moment and Windows asks if i want to keep the settings. I obviously say yes, but the external screens are still not working; and Windows still shows them as not being in use. I can work-around by plugging them directly into my PC, but that defeats the purpose of a rather expensive dock. At home I have a normal docking station which is also unaffected. I raise this as a support ticket but the agent was utterly useless. She kept telling me to uninstall/reinstall the driver (which i did), to boot into the BIOS (and not change anything) and finally to install the old driver. When i asked where to get this from she sent me to the Lenovo drivers download page and I had to explain to her that this only let me download the current driver! She then went away to ask a collegue and sent me a the link to Intel's website; but to download old versions of the WiGig wifi driver. I pointed out that this wasn't the problem driver and she assured me it was (obviously technical can see for the problem description it wasn't!). When I queried what issues old drivers would cause and the fact that they are automatically installed she said I should disable automatic update installation. I questioned the wisdom in d... I have a Dell XPS 9550 laptop, and I've recently made two BIOS updates. The one 1.3.something, and now I have 1.4.0
They both had the same terrible issue.
It seems like the processor cooling policy is completely broken.
My laptop's fans never go to silent mode now. They always run, with pretty high speed and noise. Even when CPU is totally idle, or loaded on about 1-5%
Before these updates my Dell never ever turned on the fans with this kind of CPU load, staying completely silent.

If this is BIOS's issue, I'd like to ask Dell engineers to fix it and push new update.
If there is anything I can do myself to fix it, I would highly appreciate any help.
Thank you!

Looking for ideas on this... I have a Vantec D300SU3 drive dock that isn't recognized at all by my T460s with Win7.  It behaves as if nothing was plugged in at all -- nothing changes in device manager or the disk manager.  It behaves the same on both the USB3 ports and the USB2 port.  So far other USB devices work fine for me -- but this may be the first USB3 device.  Windows and Lenovo drivers are up to date. The same drive dock works fine on a Yoga X1 running Win10 and a old X230 running Linux. I'll be able try Linux on the T460s tomorrow to rule out a hardware issue. Suggestions are appreciated.  Thanks,Andre

I have a Thinkpad T460s since a couple of months. It's the i7 edition with 20GB/1TB edition. The device has been working fine so far, although the CPU fan had to be replaced shortly after I got it (rattling noise). Since a couple of days, the Thinkpad is spinning up the fan very often. Just a simple interaction such as opening Chrome triggers the fan to blow quite loud for some time (20-30s at least). When compiling using Visual Studio, the fan almost spins to the loudest it possibly can. The thing is: it didn't do that all of the time I've had it.  Even when it's completely idle (say 0-2%), the fan still humms a little bit (it didn't do that before either). Could this indicate a hardware issue? I have NBD support but should know whether this could indicate some failure. Thanks for any advice.

Hiseems T460s (20F9) is wors than my previous laptop T420s, I can't move it so freely as before. At certain point the mouse cursor just stops moving and have to use force with a finger to make it move anywhere. I noticed the cap hole is now much smaller than f.ex. T420s, perhaps this is the reason for it. I found a link on the net to make the movement possible better;http://forum.notebookreview.com/threads/thinkpad-t460s-trackpoint-mod.790347/In addition, previously there came several Caps with the laptop, now there is not a single extra one. So I don't dare to try the fix above link before I have at least one extra cap in case something goes wrong. So the question is what is the product code for the Thinkpad T460s Trackpoint Cap collection? I tried to look in the net, hard to find.  I used Lenovoguickpick and the possible code might be this;ThinkPad Super Low Profile TrackPoint Cap Set (Part # 4XH0L55146)Then again googling that with amazon produces no results so can't get those anywhere. Any help appreciated, Thank You.

I have searched all forums including this one and have been unable to find a resolution to my issue.I have had my laptop (Thinkpad T460s) for just over a year now and use it for work daily. I was using it with no issue at lunch, but when I opened the lid around 3 hours later - the screen was black and the laptop seemed to be stuck in sleep mode. I tried a hard reset and now I can not even get the Lenovo post menu to show.If I press the power button, the keyboard momentarily turns on the backlighting and the power button stays illuminated, after about a minute the power button turns off. This entire time the laptop screen is completely black, I don't see the Lenovo post menu and therefore have no acces to the BIOS or OS.I have tried using the hardware reset button on the bottom of the laptop, removing the 2 discreet batteries, removing the CMOS battery, removing all batteries and resetting the RAM. None of this has gotten me any headway on resolving this issue. I am going to try contacting technical support but am hoping someone may help me find a quick and simple resolution to this issue.

Hi, Since this morning, my 3 week old ThinkPad T460s started making some weird fan noise. When spinning up and also while slowing down (so not on higher speeds), there's a rattling noise coming from the laptop. Sounds a bit as if the fan is brushing against something or perhaps some trembling/interference?Also at really slow fan activity, this is audible quite heavily. Up until now, that noise wasn't audible at all. Should I be calling in support (I have on-site support for this machine)? I don't assume this is normal for a new machine to happen? Thanks!

Good day Everyone, I was just provided with a 'new' laptop at work to replace my old one and when wanted to check the specs on the Lenovo webiste, I noticed that the following message popped up:Sorry, this product is no longer available This pop-up message really called my attention because even if I know that certain products may have shorter support or sale life span, I think this one is not too old not to be available anymore.I am now a little concerned that this machine may not be that good a product and will be able to perform as expected in the years to come. I don't have the luxury to exchange my designated system too often so I just want to make sure I am doing the right thing. The upgrade is made now because I am having problems with my current T430s, but those are mainly software issues, I just want to kill two birds with one stone by getting a new image with an upgraded machine.I read some of the comments written and most of them are good. So, even though I am the one who would decide whether to upgrade or keep working with the current machine, I am still puzzled by the fact that the new one is no longer available for purchase. So, does any one know why this model is now discontinued?Thank you!Moris

I haven't checked if the backlight works on the previous operating system, so I am unsure if the problem is actually from the hardwares or if the OS was updated wrong. I am pretty sure that this model supports the keyboard backlit function since the space bar has that little image on the left side that (I'm guessing) indicates the function of backlit keyboards.  I'm wondering if there are actual drivers that I must intall prior to pressing the (Fn+Spacebar) keys to turn on the backlight, or if there is a problem with my computer. If it's the case of the latter, I am thinking about resetting my laptop (reinstalling windows 10). Being aware of how long it takes to download and install all the necessary components, once I do, is there any method of backing up the computer and after the reset just using that backup to go back to the original state where I have all my programs and data?  Thanks.

Hello, community My name is Taveres Harris and I am new to the Lenovo support community. Please help me make my first experience successful. I have been tasked with deploying new Win10 PCs by the EOY. My company purchased Lenovo ThinkPad T460s(s) and Lenovo ThinkCentre M900(s). I didn't have any trouble creating the image and uploading it to the WDS server, which is Server 2012 R2. However, I am having no luck deploying the image to the PCs. Here's what is known: *Each PCs MAC address has been added to the 'Allowed' filter on my DHCP server*Each PC has the same ethernet LAN drivers (Intel 1219-V 64-bit Windows 10)*WDS is configured correctly (I have no trouble deploying images to my Windows 7 machines)*Boot.wim for my Windows 10 machines is correctly added to the WDS server Here's the issue: When I boot a PC, press F12 to initate a PXE boot, and choose the NIC adapter to boot, I have no trouble. From there, I get to my boot options listed in the WDS server and choose the Windows 10 boot image. From there, WDS goes to the setup window, and eventually, I get a message stating the following: WdsClient: An error occured while obtaining an IP address from the DHCP server. Please check to ensure that there is an operational DHCP server on this network segment. I have researched the possible reasons for that error, and have narrowed it down to the LAN driver not being provisioned for Windows Server 2012 R2. For my Windows 7 machines, I ca... Read more
