negative effect

Q: negative effect

I am getting a negative effect on any picture i get on my computer. Either emailed, uploaded, downloaded etc. I currently am running windows 95, my computer is set at 32 bit color ( changed from 256( no effect on anything)). My desktop folders also have the negative effect. Can someone please help. Is this a resolution problem? Can this be fixed in safe mode? Dis i change the display to something it should not be at? help please. I have been trying to fix this for weeks.

Preferred Solution: negative effect

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

A: negative effect

Is this perchance a Laptop?

"The negative effect" I assume you mean the colors are backwards, white is black, green is purple, etc, etc

If this is the case there should be a strange key on your keyboard that looks like a white A and a black A. Usually you hit the function key then hit the other reverse key to change the colors around.

Otherwise... you will need to find your video card settings and mess around with the gamma section majorly.

Hi its been a while since i was on this part of the forum.

I was doing a pandascan a while ago. I wasnt expecting much on it. Preparing myself for just a few spyware maybe as it had been a while since i last scanned my computer. After a while however it picked up these 2 files as suspicious:

C:\documents and settings\ben\my documents\ati updates\dcprosetup_15.zip[dcprosetup.exe][DCleaner.exe]
C:\documents and settings\ben\my documents\DCProsetup_15\DCProSetup.exe[DCleaner.exe]

Now i thought that these were legit files? Could it be a mistake on pandas behalf or should i look into it more? What are your opinons on the matter?

P.S. Thats twice now my internets konked out while on BC.... Sound supcious? Should i go into safe mode and try a few tests?

I'm downloading a decently large file (2.50 GB) and it's in the Negative percent, the download bar (little blue bars that go across) are all the way across, I have 160 MB of 2.50 GB downloaded, and it says 4 hours and 10 mins left, and it also says -11% as the percent complete, what does this mean??

Thanks ^.^

A:Negative % in download??

What it means is fairly straight forward. Of the huge download, only 11% has been downloaded and 11% of 2.5GB is about 160mb. It is estimated to take 4 hours to download such a large file. If you are on dial-up, it might take that long! On DSL or cable, it should not take that long. Does that answer your question?

Hi, I do not pretend that I have a serious problem with Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit.

I have an excel spreadsheet (2002) Someone has entered in all the numbers that are supposed to be negative numbers like this 14.56- when you try and add all the numbers all together it returns a zero value because excel doesn't understand that it is a negative number because the minus sign should be on the other side of the value.

Does anyone know of a good idea on how to get all the - signs on the other side of the number or any quick way to make excel understand these numbers as a negative eg -14.56????

I use a very basic spreadsheet to work out my flexi-time each day. This works fine for positive numbers (ie. when I have worked my normal hours in a day) but when I have a negative amount (eg. when I have worked 10 mins less than my normal day) Excel displays ######## in place of the daily balance. Is there any way I can make Excel display the actual balance even when it is negative.

Hello kiwibabs,
So, you have the latest drivers for your video card, and all the Vista updates.
From what you are describing, i would say it's a codec/file type error.
Can you check to see what format your video camera is, what format the files you are trying to play are.
What type of camera is it, make and model.
Take a look and post your results, good luck.

I just bought Otek FS-502 hoping to scan heaps of old 35mm negative, but I am rather disappointed in the quality of the images I am getting, they are wishy/washy (not sharp or clear). After I have transferred it onto my PC the dimensions are 2544 x 1696 but the size of the file is 500-600KB whereas my normal digital photos are 2-3MB, which I assume is the problem. Am I expecting too much of this Scanner or have I not set up the scanning process correctly? Or is it dependent on the SD card, I have tried a couple with same result.
Also another problem has emerged when I emailed a couple of photos (saved from my digital camera) as attachments to a friend; when I open up my sent message, at the top (above the addressee headings) there is a message "OA removed access to the following unsafe attachments in your mail IMG_795.JPG". so all I have is the hugely enlarged image in the email itself.
Hopefully you can understand my 2 problems/issues an have some easy resolution.

Many Thanks

A:Otek FS-502 negative scanner

Your unsharp scans are caused probably by you not setting a high enough scan resolution in your Otek's scanning software.

I know by formatting the cell you can select negative numbers to appear in red. I was wondering if there was a way to do that with zeros?

A:Excel and negative numbers

Hi there,

Yes, there is, but you'll need to do a custom format as there are no default formats for showing anything equal to zero in red. Now in order to do this, you'll need to understand a little of custom formatting. There are four items you can specify, and they are in specific order: Greater than zero, less than zero, equal to zero, and textual values. These items, are separated by a semi-colon ( ; ). So something like this...
This should explain them a little more...

I have a scanner for scanning film negatives which worked really well with Vista 32 bit but I have been unable to get it working with Windows 7 64 bit.

It is made by a company called Fujitac (who don't seem to have a website anymore) but it uses OVT Scanner drivers. Initially Win 7 didn't recognise it but after loading the drivers from the original CD it seems to be recogised. The driver version is Omnivision 5.2.5500.35 from 29 Jul 07 and I have no idea where to get a later version.

The scanner came with Photo Impression 6 software. When I go "Acquire from Scanner" it brings up the capture window but it remains blank and never shows an image of the negative that I wish to scan.

Any ideas would be gratefully received - I've wasted too much time on this already

I've been going through my photos and film negatives.

Is there a way to get a picture printed without giving up the negative?
It seems photo places will send out your negatives for processing, but the developer won't return them like they used to.

I was wondering also why they don't return them, and what happens to your negatives (property).

Also, is there a way to view the negative without buying a negative strip reader (light machine).

Thank you

A:Film Negative Questions

I would never, ever hand a negative to any processor that did not ensure its return. I've never dealt with any photo printer that didn't return negatives.

There are ways to digitally process negatives into photos, and many high-tech commercial photo processing shops, even local ones, have these and can produce a print while you wait. These may not be quite up to the standard of regular print processing, but it's generally way more than good enough for old snapshots.

Hello all,
Since I got my new GPU, I have been having a problem with my second display. When I want to turn it on(through Catalyst) as an extention to my main dispaly, it does turn on, but after about 5-10 minutes the colors turn negative and I have to disable and re-enable it in order for it to get back normal again. My GPU is a Sapphire Radeon HD7850 OC, and the second monitor is connected through HDMI. Last time I checked my drivers where up to date. Anyone knows why this happens and how to fix it ?

Thank you in advance!

A:Second Monitor turning negative(HDMI)

If it has two HDMI ports, try the other one.

Try another HDMI cable.

If still an issue after that, if that monitor has a different connection other than HDMI, I would try using it to verify it's not a an overall monitor issue and just HDMI failure, port on the monitor or the video card, either way, not reasonably fixed.

HDMI has me annoyed on my own rig, rather DVI, but only one on my 7950.

Could try underclocking or normal clocking in Catalyst also, just in case that OC has caused the problem.

A:Formating cells for negative numbers

Try this.
Save first to make sure we don't mess it up

This works if the values you want to change are all positive. It won't work for values that are already negative.

Select the cells that you want to make negative. Right click the selection and choose COPY.

In an empty column maybe next to the cells you selected if it is empty, right click a cell that you want to be the top cell in your list.

Click OK

That should make a column of negative versions of what you had selected. Then you can copy those and paste them over the positive numbers.

Hope this helps

Can anyone help me with this? I have a whole lot of Excel spreadsheets (copied over from my old PC) in which numbers were formatted using the standard "Number" option in "Format Cells". (This gives you 4 options for negative numbers in the option box, the last two of which show negatives in parentheses - which is the way I like to have it.) This is obviously only possible if you have fixed your number formats in Regional Settings first. On my new PC, therefore, the first thing I do is fix my Regional Settings correctly, but when I open my spreadsheets, all negative numbers have unhappily been stripped of their parentheses in favour of the ubiquitous minus(-) sign. The weird thing is that I also changed the "digit grouping" option in my Regional Settings from a comma to a space, and this comes through correctly in Excel. Am I missing a trick here, or do I really have to go into all my spreadsheets and redo all the number formats using the "Custom" option? Thanks for your help.

A:Let's get negative [2] - Windows 7 Minor annoyances

One thing I don't like about Windows 7 is that after a while, for apparently no reason, Live Window Previews in the taskbar stop working. Instead, all I get the color hovering over a window and nothing showing up unless I click on a taskbar item and drag it up. In Vista I never had a problem with these Live Previews. I can fix it by restarting explorer.exe but that's still rather annoying. Regardless of the video card, the video card driver version, 32-bit or 64-bit, Home Premium, Professional, or Ultimate, I get this issue no matter what.

I hope they fix this issue in SP1.

I've been working through 2 previous forum investigations (Devnullius 2011 and Dansmail26 2013). These both more or less reflect the problems I've been having. Unfortunately both the investigations were unresolved. Here's what what I've gathered.
1. Elements transferred to the Desktop, such as ComboFix and DDS are not immediately recognised. A reset is required for the controlling virus/malware to discover it.
2. The displayed Desktop (in both Normal and Safe modes) do not always reflect the actual Desktop.
3. Rootkit Revealer shows 400,000 (145,000 in slimmed down version) mismatched items comprising:
'Security Mismatch', 'Data mismatch between Windows API and raw Hive data', the majority as 'Visible in directory index, but not Windows API or MFT' and 'Hidden from Windows API'.
The scan results are unable to be stored.
4.  Combofix and DDS hang. Both will run in 'nombr' mode. DDS displays previously uninstalled programs - SQL etc.
5. Previous 'Run' commands are remembered through system shutdown.
6. Default browser not always remembered.
7. Indexing for searching not remembered.

Hello,I see that you have posted a log which I have moved to the proper forum here: http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/topic353988.html Because you have a log posted, you should NOT make further changes to your computer (install/uninstall programs, use special fix tools, delete files, edit the registry, etc) unless advised by a MRT Team member, nor should you ask for help elsewhere. Doing so can result in system changes which may not show in the log you already posted. Further, any modifications you make on your own may cause confusion for the helper assisting you and could complicate the malware removal process which would extend the time it takes to clean your computer. From this point on the MRT Team should be the only members that you take advice from, until they have verified your log as clean. Please be patient. It may take a while to get a response because the MRT Team members are EXTREMELY busy working logs posted before yours. They are volunteers who will help you out as soon as possible. Once you have made your post and are waiting, please DO NOT make another reply until it has been responded to by a member of the MRT Team. Generally the staff checks the forum for postings that have 0 replies as this makes it easier for them to identify those who have not been helped. If you post another response there will be 1 reply. Sorry but I'm back again with the same spreadsheet, different problem.

Excel 2000 in win98 crashed all the time (another post for later) so I transferred file to PC with win XP/Excel 2003.

New problem is:
On one worksheet, entering appt times between 12:00 am and 12:59 AM shows #### in the column for pickup time. I expanded the column width but still occurs.

Ex 12:00 am in the appt time = blank in appt col (but appt. time appears in formula bar) and #### in col for pickup time.
Also, all appt times between 12:01 am and 12:59 am = #### for pickup time except 12:45 am which shows blank for appt time & ### for pickup time.

When I click on the cells with ####, I see a message about "negative dates or times will show ####".
There are currently 6 sheets for Jul to Dec but this seems to happen only in the Dec sheet.

Thanks for any help you can provide.

Hi all, I am new to scanners and I have a new H/P scanner with transparent materials adapter and holding rig for negatives. I assumed that scannning a negative would produce the best end result. However I scanned the 4x6 color print and it came out much better. Which way should produce the best results? Scan the print or scan the negative?

I did search the forum first.

A:Scan a picture or negative for best quality?

From my experience the negative is much better. Make sure you're setting the DPI at the maximum of what the scanner can handle. Also get a can of compressed air and blow the the dust off the negatives before scanning them. Even a little spec shows up.

I just want to know if it's a issue only for my piece or to all pieces of this series. Should I return my laptop?

I have an HP Pavilion dv9000. I had left the computer on for a few hours during the night and woke up to find that it displays only negative colors and looks rather fuzzy. I restarted the computer and the problem persists. What can I do?

A:laptop displaying negative colors only

Try leaving the computer off for about half a day and then see what happens.
