Preferred Solution: can i use external graphic card on yoga 510-14ikb

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Is ist possible to connect two external displays over microHDMI. I know, normally you couldn't use them as extended displays because there's only one signal. BUT on the product page they claim, that it has a DisplayPort ("combo with HDMI?") and microHDMI. In my opinion it looks like there are somehow two output signals over the hdmi port, or does anybody know what this exactly mean?

A:Yoga 710-14IKB two external displays over microHDMI?

The product page is incorrect. The 710-14IKB has one micro-HDMI for one display. If you want a second display you'll need a USB display adapter.

Hi,how can i select as default Graphic Card my NVIDIA 920M instead Intel HD? Best Regards

A:YOGA 500 14" Graphic Card Switch

Hi Mitsus,

Welcome to Lenovo Community!

There are two sets of graphics card in the Y500, one is the integrated Intel GPU and another is the NVIDIA® GeForce® 940M 2G GFX, which one is used depends on graphics load and your preference.

You can force the discrete GPU (the Nvidia GPU) to run all the time, by going to bios and set it to discrete graphics mode. But this will draw more power and produce more heat, however the graphics performance will be higher.

You have an "Optimus" configuration, this is what switchable graphics has morphed into. The machine will only run the 1000m when it is necessary to run cooler, run quieter, and use less battery power. The machine decides when to turn on the card. When the nVidia card is off, it uses no power. The latest nVidia drivers should have a taskbar utility that tells you when the 1000m is active.  You can override this in the BIOS if you need to for some reason.

Technically, the Intel integrated graphics is always active, although it is not always in use. Nvidia graphics will turn on and off according to need. Software from Nvidia called Optimus automatically switches between integrated (Intel) and dedicated (Nvidia) graphics, according to the application. The easiest way to see which graphics card is in use is to check the "Display GPU activity icon in notification area" option in the Desktop menu of the Nvidia control panel. It should automatically use the Nvidia graphics card when Ste... Read more

Hi,

Since its an all-in-one computer, I was told that it's impossible to install a different card. I looked over the web and found several external graphic cards. the most interesting one is the Alienware Graphics Amplifier.
1. is it true that it's imposible to upgarde the internal grafic card on the XPS aio 2720?
2. Has anybody tried to the Alienware Graphics Amplifier to an XPS aio 2720?
3. Has anybody tried to use other external graphic card with an XPS aio 2720?

A:can I connect an external graphic card for XPS aio 2720

1. is it true that it's imposible to upgarde the internal grafic card on the XPS aio 2720?
Yes this is True.
2. Has anybody tried to the Alienware Graphics Amplifier to an XPS aio 2720?
No because the proprietary Connector for the AGA does not exist on the 2720.
3. Has anybody tried to use other external graphic card with an XPS aio 2720?
No because there is no supported way to do this.
not all versions of the new Dell XPS 2720's come with Thunderbolt ports.
Thunderbolt to PCI-E X16 is not supported by Dell or Apple etc.

According to your system specs, you have Intel HD graphics already and that may be perfectly fine for what you do with your PC.

I have a similar processor to you and I do not use a graphics card.

Separate graphics cards are typically used for gaming, but aren't need for most ordinary circumstances.

The problem cannot be solved except by buying a new computer. There is no way to hook up an external video card and your processor is part of the motherboard so there is no way to upgrade in any way that is going to make any economic sense or, for that matter even if you had unlimited funds. FIFA17 is a very demanding game that needs a gaming computer and you can't make yours into one.

I've recently (13th of April) bought new Yoga 530-14IKB. It has adequate CPU i3-8130U, which is faster than i5-6200U in my sister's Acer laptop, but I anyway don't play any games. The lenovo pen is working fine on this section of screen. Facing same issue in tablet mode also. I don't think this is software issue, maybe the connection at the  hinge got screwed up. The laptop is still under warranty. All the Drivers are up to date. Can I get a replacement if I go to service center or is this a software issue which can be solved ?

A:Thinkpad Yoga 15 Graphic Card issue (geforce 840m)

Hi GijsDros, welcome to the forums.

Just in case have you tried to update the NVidia Geforce drivers in Windows 10? Maybe it can work out.

To update drivers on a Thinkpad I always recommend:
1) Try first Windows Update and update all the drivers and Patches
2) Try Lenovo System Update to get any new/missing drivers.
3) Try to install Lenovo Settings and Lenovo Companion from the Windows App Store, Lenovo Companion also has a "update driver search"
4) Sometimes all that software does not recognize some updated / missing driver. Check Lenovo's Support Site and search for your specific model drivers.

There is this NVidia Driver on the support site of you model:
NVIDIA Optimus Display Driverver. 10.18.13.5435 / 20.19.15.4312 from 17/12/2015

But updating with driver with the one on the NVidia site does not gives me any conflic, so if you still have issues with that driver, you may try the NVidia page.

Let's hope this can help you.

Regards

I succefully tried for many times to reinstall the operation system (OS), WIN 7 home premium edition 64 bit with the original key offered with the gamer notebook, but the problem remins as it.
The laptop reconize the graphic card after an hours of AC adapter and battery removing, and a complete OS reinstallation. Hi xenocider ,

Welcome to the Community Forums.

As this was also discussed on this thread.
Yoga 900 USB Type C is not Thunderbolt 3 compatible

As per article:

The new USB Type-C port supports:
- USB 3.0
- native display port 1.2 video output
- VGA/HDMI output using a Type-C VGA/HDMI adapter (which is a separate purchase)(Ref: page 8 of https://download.lenovo.com/consumer/mobiles_pub/yoga_900-13isk_ug_en_201509.pdf)
Adding to the above:  Gigabit Ethernet via any of several 3rd party USB-C-to-USB3 adapters that also feature an RJ45 jack.

Articles for reviews:
USB 3.1 Type-C port. There are no indications that this is a Gen. 2 Type-C port (10 Gbps) with Thunderbolt capability
Lenovo Yoga 900 reviews

As I can see , although it is not possible at the moment future upgrades may happen.
Hope this answered your query.

Hey everyone! Recently I'm thinking about how to use two operating systems on my Yoga without the need of dualboot. After some research I found out that many mainboards aren't able to boot from USB 3.0 or upwards. Since USB2 is way too slow for a decent performance, I'd like to refrain from that as an option. Been checking the UEFI and have only seen the option boot from USB, which does not specify if it's able to boot from USB3.0 (that has often to be differentiated). Now, I don't own a external ssd with USB 3, so I cannot test that myself. So, does the Yoga 510-14IKB support booting from USB 3.0 devices? Kind regards,kazumo P.S.: Does anyone know the technical aspect to why booting from USB 3.0 is not available everywhere? Been trying to figure it out and so far I don't see a reason why, since USB 3.0 has two lanes, one of which is equal to a USB 2.0

Hello, I came here to ask Lenovo Staff for any feedback. Week ago I've bought Yoga 710. After few days of use its front left corner went up, it became unstable on flat surface. Pads aren't the problem and everything is fine if notebook is closed. I left it open with some book to keep it flat over night to see if it helps, it did but only for a while. I've search through this forum if anyone had such issue and Lenovo Support members claimed several times that it should be returned as this is covered by warranty. Sides are stiff and solid but the whole front is pretty much flexible. I could flex it myself but this can damage internal parts which I'd like to avoid. So I took pictures, contacted local Lenovo Support (Poland) about it. Surprisingly they've refused to help by claiming that this is "cosmetic defect". I've asked twice, told them about statements here and I don't blame them, but there's clearly some misunderstanding. Here's the picture of how it looks like. It would be great if someone could clarify why I can't receive warranty service while I read here others did.  I still have week to return it to store but this model (with Kaby Lake) isn't available anymore so they can't replace it for me and yet it's not their fault. I'd like to keep it, stay fair and have my issue resolved. Best Regards, Simon. o/

Hello,  I have a lenovo yoga 520 14IKB, 120 GB SSD, 8 GB ram and NO HDD. As I recently had Wifi connection issues, I opened the computer to fix that (the cable popped out after a pretty rough plane ride). While in there, I saw that I had a SSD, as stated before. but I also saw that i have a unused space to put in another HDD/SSD. I believe that the SSD used in my system is a m.2 sata SSD (I am not  really sure as I am not really familiar with computer hardware), and it is located directly behind the connector for the 2.5 inch drive bay thing. The question now is wether or not I can simply install an HDD into that bay, and use it alongside the boot SSD to use it to store photos, documents etc. I should probably also mention that in sopace of a harddrive or 2.5 inch ssd, there was a "ciuya hdd dummy brk" in the drive bay. I hope to get quick answers, Thanks.
