I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

We have two new Lenovo thinkpad P71, both identical. One of them started to have boot up issue (takes about 2.5 minutes for the first boot up of the day, then any restart during that day will be fine) So, I have been trying to resolve this issue this past couple of days without success. However, I found out that the BIOS version were different on both machine. Both machine requested to update the BIOS after the initial setup. One of them I updated but the other I didn't. The Laptop with the updated BIOS has the version 1.17 (which is odd since the latest version on Lenovo website is 1.16) https://pcsupport.lenovo.com/ca/en/products/laptops-and-netbooks/thinkpad-p-series-laptops/thinkpad-... The laptop that was not updated has the version 1.15 and it does not have the long boot up time issue. So I was wondering if it was normal to have version 1.17? Also, is it possible and should I go back to version 1.15? Any help / tips would be appreciated. Thanks.

Please Help! I ran the Lenovo BIOS Upgrade for Thinkpad E540 for Windows 7; it didn?t work. (?Failure to Read BIOS?) So I downloaded the ISO version, and burned it to a CD. My laptop boots up ONLY from the CD. Now exactly what do I do now, in simple instructions, to upgrade from the ISO CD to the new updated BIOS so that it would be on my laptop (instead of having to boot from the CD every time)? Thanks!

A:How do I Lenovo BIOS Upgrade for Thinkpad E540 for Windows 7 from ISO CD?

Welcome to the forum!

If you boot from the CD (and the ISO was correctly burned on the CD), you only need to follow the instructions on the screen. If I remember correctly you need to press Enter once, (eventually confirm by pressing the "Y" key) and then the BIOS will be updated. After that you can remove the CD and boot normally.

You need to be connected to the AC and have a full charged battery before the update.

Hope this helps...

Hi, I started having weird after-wake up BSODs (bugcheck: 0x00000133) last week. I don't recall installing or udpating any software (other than Windows update) nor changing hardware configuration.
The BSODs are not regular and don't happen after every wake up, just circa every second third. It seems that they're slightly more likely to happen more times in a row but other than that there doesn't seem to be any way to predict them. Once a BSOD happened during normal use and not immediately after wake up (was about 2 mins after wake up).
The exact way they occur is following: Laptop gets waken up, is normally responsive for about 1-4 seconds, freezes, and after variying amount of time (sometimes seconds, sometimes minutes) fall into BSOD.
Event viewer (system logs) doesn't show anything with the exception of some printer-related problems that have - however -timespamp indicating that they-re after-crash problems. There're no System logs with timestamp in between wake up and crash and the after-reboot ones doesn't provide any useful information.
The laptop runs Windows 8.1 x64 with Ubuntu in dualboot which seems to be unaffected (can't say for sure, don't use it as much).

Hello. I'm having a substandard issue with my Lenovo Yoga Laptop that I will try to explain in complete detail. First I'll summarize what's going on, then I'll list all  the details that could be related to this problem, no matter how small, in order of most likely related to least likely related. I'm an IT technician so I have some grasp of computer troubleshooting, just keep in mind. Alright, so the issue is that my Lenovo ThinkPad Yoga (can't find exact model, label only days Yoga and its dated in 2013) will not boot into Windows 10 after I have done an upgrade from Windows 8.1 using Microsoft's media creation tool. More specifically, I was able to do the firat time setup and boot on once but after searching for Windows updates and restarting, the computer will not boot on. The most likely reason for this I believe is that the laptop doesn't recognize the SSD with Windows 10 on it. It can detect it in some ways but not others. In Lenovo diagnostics I'm not able to run a storage test, which is an option I know is usually there because I've troubleshooted these before, which leads me to believe it doesn't recognize it. However, boot menu and BIOS recognize the drive. Attempting to boot to it from boot menu gives a long black screen and then it takes me back to boot menu. Letting my computer boot up normally also gives a long black screen after the ThinkPad logo and the automatically goes to boot menu. The other diagnostics for Lenovo hardware all pass. So some... A:thinkpad l440 cpu upgrade?

If you do it yourself it will certainly be cheaper, but the CPU is not considered customer-replaceable, so it may affect your warranty status. If you can do the replacement in a professional manner, so it doesn't look worked on, probably nobody will complain, as long as you keep the old part and replace it back before getting service. The FRU of the i7-4600m is 04X4049. You do not want to get one marked "ES" (engineering sample). The ES parts may not be final versions

I wish to obtain definitive information about the internal composition of the trackpad for the L440 laptop given my allergy to wool felt. Does the trackpad use any felt cushioning or gaskets? I recently noticed what appears to be small particles of lint around the crevices of the trackpad, but before cleaning the periphery of the pad I wish to be certain that these particles are not from underlying felt material. I would hope to obtain an answer directly from Lenovo. Thank you.

This is what the user guide states:To start ThinkPad Setup, do the following:1. Turn on the computer. When the logo screen is displayed, press the F1 key. The ThinkPad Setupprogram main menu opens.Note: If you have set a supervisor password, the ThinkPad Setup program main menu will be displayedafter you enter the password. Hi guys, I have no idea what's happening with my Lenovo Thinkpad Yoga S1 (it's about 3.5 years old, its warranty just expired). Every time I reboot, I get this weird message saying "Configuration changed, please reboot the machine...". I then proceed to reboot the machine and everything works but the bios options are always resetted! This makes the laptop extremely unusable for me as I always swap the fn/ctrl keys so that I don't have to learn a new keyboard every time I switch computers. If I go back and change the option, it works fine, but the next reboot it does the same message again and I have to reconfigure the bios at EVERY boot. I'm lucky this option is the only one I changed, otherwise someone that would have changed the boot order/graphics settings/passwords etc. would be in a much worst situation than me...At first this seemed like a typical bios battery being out of juice so that the config can't stay saved, but I've now changed the bios battery twice with new ones and this doesn't change anything... It's been working perfectly for 3 years but now it just suddenly stopped working for that reason (by not working I mean the bios that keeps resetting itself, I can still boot to my main OS just fine after). If anybody has any suggestion that would be greatly appreciated. I thought about flashing the bios but afaik it's the latest one, and anyway as I'm only running GNU/Linux I can't run the .exe tool to update it (off-topic but please lenovo have another way to u... (see screenshot) Frozen at this screenAfter hours of waiting, trying to long press (20 sec) the power button shuts down the computer. Afterwards the computer boots but displays "Secure Flash Authentication failed!"After forced rebootAfter that I have to long press (20 sec) the power button again to restart the computer and it boots back into the 1.18 (I have also tried to update to version 1.22 or 1.17 (downgrade), with the same results)And also tried to "upgrade" to the same version 1.18 as well, which doesn't work because the system says that there is no new version. Do you have any tips how to upgrade the BIOS on the L560? Kind RegardsOlaf

Hi Ms,

Welcome to Lenovo Community!

We understand that your display is not working in your L440 laptop.

Issue might be with the LCD cable. Since the external display is working fine there is no issue with the motherboard.

Note: As per the Lenovo policy, the warranty will be void if the laptop is dismantled by yourself.

We would like you to visit the nearest authorised Lenovo service centre to purchase the power supply.

Service Center link - https://support.lenovo.com/in/en/contactus/findaprovider

Hope this helps. Do post back if issue persists!

One short beep, pause, three short beeps, pause, threemore short beeps, pause, and one short beep

Shut down the computer immediately. Ensure thatmemory modules are installed correctly. If they are, andyou still hear the beeps, have the computer serviced.

That would seem to indicate memory issues.

Z.

Hello,I recently bought my school laptop from my school since I am graduating and I was wondering if it is possible to upgrade the screen to a more angle friendly screen, like an IPS panel also with higher resolution (FullHD). Is it possible and can any of you recommend a panel. The laptop in question is a Thinkpad L440 and the screen resolution is 1600x900.

Hi,I have replaced CD-ROM by HDD Caddy with SSD (Samsung 850 EVO 250GB) in my Lenovo ThinkPad L440 (20ASS3GT0) as a second storage device (not one with the OS). When I'm trying to start the system, I'm getting a message "Configuration changes - restart the system." and the system reboots again and again. What is more, I can't access the BIOS any more - pressing F1 does not work. Updating to the newest version of BIOS (1.85) does not help. After removing HDD Caddy everything works fine. I have tried some of the configurations below: Removed the battery, pressed the power button for 10-15 sec. and rebooted with AC Adapter connected - still got message "Configuration changes - restart the system."Removed HDD from standard SATA port and connected it using HDD Caddy - cannot boot into the system. There is no message "Configuration changes...", HDD is detected but it is not on the list with bootable devices (there is only one option to boot over the LAN).HDD Caddy connected with no storage device - boot into the system with no problem. The problem is, that I need two storage devices - one for the OS and second one (using HDD caddy) for another data. Could anyone help me to solve that issue?

My S1 Yoga, 20CD-00B1US, is stuck with the screen off and the power LED stuck on. When I try to push or hold the power button it beeps two short beeps and the LED stays solid. I was running the Lenovo Bios Update Software directly from their site. The power cord was plugged in and no other programs were running (aside from background programs). Now it is just stuck like this. Any thoughts or help would be great. I can't even get it to force shut off. Thank you in advance!
