Internet terrible during peak hours since upgrade!

Q: Internet terrible during peak hours since upgrade!

So I moved in December to a very small town. I got Cass Communications cable internet 15mb dl for $100 a month which is a terrible price for the speed but it's the best I got here. It was very very consistent internet, always right around 15-17 speeds with no packet loss and was great for gaming/streaming. Well now they have doubled the speeds to 30mb dl and it's great during the day when no ones using it but come 8 pm central it is absolute garbage. Without fail at night it slows to a crawl.

I don't know what to do at this point. I have contacted their tech guy and told him and he said their were some noise issues or something and that it should be better but it's not. From 8 till 12 am it's useless, streams buffer and gaming is impossible since your ping is about triple what you're used to and fluctuates so much you can't even tell what's happening in multiplayer. I have contacted him again asking him what we can do to fix this and he said "Your modem is on probation so we can look at it" or something and now he's ignoring anymore emails i've sent. The only other option I have is a 6mb DSL service that's pure crap too. Is their anything I can do?

Preferred Solution: Internet terrible during peak hours since upgrade!

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

A: Internet terrible during peak hours since upgrade!

I don't understand what "modem is on probation" means. If it is your modem then investigate to see if it is a problem. Is it DOCSIS 1, 2 or 3? I'm not sure what the actual maximum downloads for those specs are (you can look them up on the web), but an old (five years or more) or DOCSIS 1 modem may well be the issue. If it is the ISP's modem then you need to get them to investigate/solve any modem issue.

Otherwise there is nothing you can do except keep pestering your ISP. Speaking from the experience of having ISP issues for months and months (now working fine for three months) use various channels. In addition to calling there may be (sometimes difficult to find) ways to chat or email. If you don't get anywhere with a given chat session try again the next day because the rep will almost guaranteed be somebody different.

I like playing Team Fortress 2 but I only get decent latency (~50 ms) outside peak hours (10 a.m. to 7 p.m.), at these hours my latency goes up to 400 ms. I'm wondering if is this is a problem inherent to dsl infrastructure or is it that my isp is worse than average. In Mexico City there are only about 3 internet service providers, Prodigy Infinitum from the country's telecomunications giant(and a monopoly) Telmex is the one I use.
Of course most of their clients use the internet for sending emails and web browsing so I wouldn't be surprised if they didn't care for providing a decent service for gamers.
How does everyone's isp perform for gaming?

A:High latency at peak hours

Most ISP's have you on a system with a lot of other users in your neighborhood. What you report is typical. You provider will provide you high speed and bandwidth at an increased price, and then this problem will go away.
We have performed a lot of work in Mexico City and certainly found a great number of providers... not just three... have you talked to repair services in your part of the city.
I do know that the costs are extremely high for service and support, compared to the USofA

Hey guys, I just wanted to say thanks for taking the time to look at this post. Anyway, I'll get right to the chase, just recently I have purchased the Motorola SB5120 modem and the Linksys WRT546 router, the reason being is because my old modem was extremely out-dated and we needed an easier way to connect my two other computers. All has been working fine until this past week or so, and it seems that my modem just likes to go into a standby state, by itself, from 11 a.m. until 8-9 p.m. central. This will occur regularly about every 5 minutes to an hour for the entire day, the "standby" mode will last for only about 10 seconds, usually just long enough to kick me off from whatever I may be doing at the time. The modem says its working fine though, and even the Cox guy said it was running at optimal performance. At first I believed it to be just some minor difficulties with the network I setup for my family, but that wasn't the case. I've tried resetting everything and just starting from scratch but nothing works. We called the Cox Support team, again, and again, I was told to reset everything. If anyone has any solutions, please let me know. Thank you.

I am currently with Virgin Broadband in the UK which supply up to 50Mbps. During non-peak I get 50 Mbps through the ethernet and about 20Mbps on my laptop through a wireless connection to my router which is fine...

The problem is that during peak times, I get a speed of less than 7/8Mbps through my wireless connection which I feel is unfair considering I am paying for up to 50Mbps. (A connection via ethernet only drops by 4-5 Mbps to 45Mbps).

Should this be happening? I don't understand how the increase in demand during peak times should affect my ethernet and wireless connection differently. If anyone has a solution I would be very grateful.

A:Wireless broadband v slow during peak hours; ethernet unaffected

Assuming that you run an encrypted wireless connection and changed the login and password for your router, just check how many wireless networks you can see in your connection manager during the peak hours vs normal hours. You may be just suffering from interference from the neighboring networks. In non-peak hours all of those routers around you are just broadcasting their network names, thus taking little bandwidth. In peak hour the information traffic between the routers and computers connected to them picks up and creates interference.

If you see a lot of networks around, get some free software, such as Net Stumbler, that would allow you to see what channels those networks operate on and select an unoccupied (or less occupied) channel in your router.

Straight Forward, my internet it terrible,
we use sky broadband and we pay for 15mbs or 25mbs, I don't know which one but the speeds I am getting is nowhere near even 15mbs
Please see attached for the internet speedtests...
My room is the furthest in the house and only has one plug in the whole room (I cannot use ethernet because it needs its own socket) which my computer is using
So I have a netgear wireless adapter, nearly all the time my internet is 1.5 ish mb but sometimes it goes basically to 0, the thing which is weird is how my phone
gets 10mbs as you will see in attached but the computer (at this moment in time) it getting nothing, is there any way to increase the speed and I will try anything anyone asks
because I cannot do anything with this internet, even when it is at its best at 1.5..

Hello everyone, I recently bought a SSD and installed W7 64-bit on it ( 2 weeks ago ). Ever since when my transfer rate reachs more than 1+MB/s internet cuts out on the WHOLE house. Other members of family can download at 4-5 mb/s without problem. I'm using NetLimiter to stay under 1MB/s and prevent that from happening. But I have a 60 mpbs connection and can't even profit from it ... I never had such problems. I would also like to solve this problem without reinstalling Windows because I heard erasing data from SSD's is bad (?) .

I use POWER LAN TOPCOM 85mbps ( internet through electricity ) if it helps. I tried reinstalling drivers of network card, even installed drivers for the TOPCOM. No results !

I'm desperate to fix this ask for any extra information you guys might need.

I have recently decided to do a little upgrading on my computer, because I was getting annoyed by getting rather low frames-per-second in all my games. At first I thought it's my power-supply and my RAM, so I went and bought a 500W PSU and 2 x 1GB sticks of RAM. Saw no difference in my computer's performance when it came down to games.

This is the current set-up I have running right now:
- BFG GeForce 7600 GT OC
- 2GB RAM PC2300 Kingston
- Pentium 4 3.06Ghz with Hyper-Threading (775 LGA)
- 500 Watt Power Supply
- I'm not sure about the motherboard, but my PC is a Compaq Presario SR1930NX.

In Team Fortress 2, I can get anything from 35 to 10 fps. In Serious Sam 2, I can get anything between 50 and 30 (everything on high). In BioShock, I get around a constant 25 (everything on high). The worst offender however is all the Source games. No matter what my settings (could be 640x480 to 1280x1024, low and high, no AA) are, I don't get anything above 20 and 30, unless I'm like facing a wall with no enemies near. According to my research, when this game came out, my current card and processor was considered great, high-budget stuff. So what's the problem?

The only thing I could have thought of was that my CPU is bottlenecking my set-up. I was thinking about buying a new CPU, though I'm not sure which one I should buy. I would however rather not buy a new motherboard, as then I would have to re-buy my RAM as well and I'm no Scrooge McDuck.

About one week ago from today's date my computer automatically updated from W8.1 to W10, and since then the audio speaker sound quality has noticeable dissipated.  Previously, I enjoyed a listening to music with a stereo sound quality, and since the update the sound quality mimics a transistor radio (AM).  I have went into the device manager; scanned for hardware updates; uninstalled and reinstalled the driver; changed the sample rate and bit depeth within the Playback devices tab; reached out to MS for answers.  Unfortunately, nothing is working and I believe the solution is to update the sound card from the Manufacturer.  I have input my model type in the HP support and driver download section, but I do not know which specific software to choose?  Also, I have referred to my HP assistant icon and it tells me everything is update to date for my device.  Hopefully, someone out there with experience can give me the proper directions to solve the issue. I have searched the HP support forum, and I see there are others who have had a similar experience.  Thank you in advance. JS.

I have had enough of my internet from 8 PM until morning being as good as ****! I can't watch a single youtube video in 360, I have only 100 kbps while I should have around 2mbps, I get constant lag spikes, it takes ages to load pages and so on! I'm positive that there are no applications running in my processes, I'm sure that my computer isn't downloading anything, this has happened for the past month every single night at 8 PM. Is it my ISP? I don't know if anybody else is using my internet but if they're this consistent with getting on at this time I'd be pretty damn impressed. I really need help on this issue, most of the time I get to spend on my computer playing games and browsing the internet is at night, so I really would like this issue sorted out. Thanks.

Hi Evolvation

How old is the modem/router? have you tried reconfiguring it? have you rebooted it? are there others in your home that have started to use your internet?

Have you changed the Wi-Fi password on your modem/router? have you tried another modem (borrow one) to see if the same thing happens? Have you tested your desktop/notebook on a different network? Are you connecting via Ethernet or Wi-Fi

Just a few ideas to see if you can narrow down possibilities as to what it could be as to if your equipment or your provider or someone else sucking the bandwidth out of your internet connection.

a few weeks back, we upgraded our internet from 8mbit/s to 100mbit/s. Now this was a huge dissapointment, cause our new internet only ran at about 12mbit/s, sometimes going up to 20, but still, that was over wireless and it was still better than our old connection. But 2 days ago, my computer started getting terrible speed,(cant load most sites) and it doesnt work at all half the time. The other computers also connected to the router are still operating around 12mbit. I checked for viruses yesterday but found none. i am using win7, i have a TP-LINK Wireless N Adapter network card, and a N600 Wireless Dual Band Gigabit router WNDR3700v3

A:Internet suddenly terrible

if you connect a PC with cable directly to the modem - and do a speed test - www.speedtest.net - what speed do you get

Not sure if the modem needed to be changed when you upgraded to support the higher speed - was that changed by the ISP or confirmed it would work at the higher speed?

Hi. I was wondering if anyone could help me with this problem.

I have Comcast "High Speed" Internet and my internet connection is horrible. I cannot realistically watch streaming videos due to constant buffering(start and stop), extremely long buffering periods, and sometimes it just completely stops buffering altogether. (2 minute clip takes about 7 minutes to load completely) I just recently completed the speed test, which came up with this result:

I usually connect to the internet through my D-link WBR-1310 wireless router, but connected my laptop directly to my modem via a LAN cable to conduct the speed test.

If it helps, my computer specs are:

I also applied the SG Vista TCP/IP Patch from speedguide.net that was suggested in another post, but it resulted with minimal improvement.(around a 0.1 Mb/s increase)

I would really appreciate any guidance or tips that would help me fix this slow connection/extremely slow video loading.

Thank You.

Recently my computer started having internet speeds of about 4-6 Mbps, when I should be having closer to 50. Thinking this was a problem with the ISP, I called them up and they sent out a service tech. He got here and did a speed test on his laptop, using both wired, and wireless, and he got the speeds I should be getting.

After he left I called up my brother to bring his laptop to do the same. Once again, he got the desired speed. However, my PC is still really slow. One more oddity about the thing, is that when I use a server farther away (~150miles) I get better speeds then when I use a server in the same city.

I've included a Speed test log, which shows just how quickly it changed. The problem started on April 5.

I've run multiple MalwareBytes tests, as well an MSE scan, which all came up clean. Since it started, I installed a new network adapter, thinking mine was causing the problem, but to no success. I've also done a complete format, thinking there was something MWB wasn't picking up, but the problem stands. I should also note that it's not just the speed tests that are slow, but streaming and downloads as well. Any input on this is appreciated.

okey so recently i have been having some troubles with my computer about the internet, i get random lag spikes both while browsing and playing online, at first my internet was fast but recently is been a nightmare for me (my internet provider is called "claro", now the weirdest part starts here, the lag spikes i get, only happen on my laptop, not on my other computer, not on my cellphone or tables, just here, and when im playing online, the lag spikes seem to be random, for example im playing gmod on monday and i get the "problem with internet connection, disconnecting on 30:00" every minute, however the next day stuff seems to be completely normal, no lags or anything although this tends to happen rarely, i have already called my internet provider, they checked the connection and told me everything was normal and even reset it to make sure, i also tried using the ethernet cable but that didint worked since it didint even let em enter pages (this could have been a problem with the cable itself), also tried looking for an update to my driver on the manufacture?s page but i did not found anything there, i also downloaded a program called driver detective and said i had 40 problems with my drivers but i need to buy it so i was stuck there.

i would like to know if someone could help me out on this.

As has been my practice for many years, back to Windows 3.1, about every six months I wipe my hard drive and reinstall everything. Up to and including version 7, this process usually completed in 2-3 hours.

Six months ago I installed 8 on my laptop and upgraded to 8.1. Today I wiped my SSD and reinstalled the original version 8. The subsequent update process and upgrade to 8.1 involved 202 downloads for 2.1GB and took 10 hours. After installing application software I went to restart my machine and noticed the desktop "Shutdown" now has no simple "Restart" option only "Update and restart". As I tried to restart my machine, a screen missive appeared: "9 downloads installing. Do not turn off your computer". I did, turn off. This in spite of the fact I have automatic updates switched off. There was no explanation or description regarding the subject downloads.

Is my experience unique? Is this MS's vision of progress?

A:Windows 8 install: 10 hours to update and upgrade to 8.1

I always do what you did but differently and it saves me all those hours. Honestly, I would not blame MS for this. Each month or whenever necessary they come out with a new build of Windows 8/8.1 and they will include all new updates, that would cut down the time to re-install your Windows. It is just you own an old Version of Windows that was built 6 months or earlier ago. In addition, the online updates take a long time depending on the speed of your Internet, yours is just up to 10 MB/s and also depend on how busy their server is then you are not getting 10MB/s download speed. Further more, It also depend on how fast your laptop is etc...

For future reference, here's what I suggest you to do:
After installation of Windows 8 + 8.1 Updates + Activation.Defrag and shrink your SSD to 80 GB for Windows and the rest for data storage to keep them separated. From the elevated command prompt, run:
- dism /online /cleanup-image /restorehealth
- sfc /scannowUsing Macrium Reflect Free to make a backup image of the 80GB partition to an external HD. For a freshly installation of Windows, it would take about 10GB. Macrium is a good free backup software and never once fails me. The user manual is also here: Macrium User Manual
Note: make sure to use a USB stick to create a Macrium Rescue disk.Go ahead and install the rest of your application programs. Clean, tweak, turn off all unnecessary services, registry etc..
Again, run the 2 commands in step 2 and make another backup.Repeat... Read more

Always test the RAM after playing around with it

Remove and reseat the memory modules.

If problems persist, try less aggressive memory timings in BIOS - bigger memory is often slower.

Hello there,
I have two laptops that were working slowly. Same manufacturer, same model; Lenovo Thinkpad E560. They were running multiple programs at the same time and checking performance options noticed that the memory was 95% to 100% constantly. CPU, Disk and Network were fine. They came with a 4 Gb RAM module so I decided to install a second identical 4Gb RAM module to double the memory. I have included the photos of both sides of the RAM module for you to see.
After installing the second module the POST test was ok, the laptops boots fine, Windows 10 Pro 1703 loads without problems and when checking on Settings -> System -> About, the Installed RAM showed as 7.9 Gb of RAM. The laptops were working for 5 hours under heavy usage and then they freeze. What I mean by Freez is not that I have a BSOD or a crash to a black screen or some type of error. They just freeze, you can see all the programs that were running at the moment. If there was a windows with a progress bar (download, file copy, some sort of process), it just freeze. The mouse cursor doesn't move, the keyboard dosn't work, if there was a video it just freeze, nothing happens. Is as if you put the computer in pause. So the laptops have to be forcefully reset pressing and holding the power button.
Again both RAM modules were identical but for troubleshooting I decided to purchase two new single 8Gb RAM modules of the same specs one for each laptop: DDLR3L - 1600 SODIMM 1.35V. The only di... Read more

Hi all. MS apparently decided to upgrade my wife's comp from Win7 to 10 sometime in the early morning hours yesterday. Been on the black upgrading screen ever since - the upgrade is going along, but it's only at 25% (copying files is at 84%) and it's been about 24 hours now. Comp is about 4 years old, built with current parts for that time period, don't have it's details handy right now.

I've been dealing/building comps for over 30 years, and I've NEVER seen an install/upgrade take this long. Couple of questions:

What could be causing it to take so long?

Can I stop the upgrade without losing Win7 and her stuff, and how?

I apologize, but you will most likely first notice how long this opening post is. I've dealt with BSOD for quite a while now and I've decided to search for help.. So, I've come to you guys. I've done a lot of research on the problem so I'll throw out some of my ideas.

The Problem:
I can't seem to play semi-graphic intensive video games for no longer than 15 minutes (games such as Counter-strike:source, BF2, Half-life 2 etc). My computer will freeze momentarily, go black, and then proceed to the Blue screen. It used to be that I would recieve an "IRQ not less than or equal" error, but now my BSOD crashes remain just blue, no error codes, 'nuttin'. Now, when I play less intensive graphic games such as regular Counter-strike 1.6, I can go for a few hours before it crashes.

Some Ideas
Because my computer seems to do a bit better on less graphic intense games, I'm wondering whether it may be a heat issue. More stress = more heat = less time till BSOD? I'm not sure, I'm not a computer guru, but I know a little.
Here are my temps: CPU 51C/123F (55-57C under stress)
MB 34C/93F

I did some research, and I learned maybe that power could play a part in problems with BSOD? My PS is one that came with my computer case and I believe it is 350w. It's not the greatest in the world. Idk if i could be gettin too little power and the games may cause it to crash.

A:The terrible terrible BSOD... help appreciated

Hi Ben,

Take a look on the side of your power supply and tell us the brand name, wattage, and how many amps on each rail. That should help because you have some things on your power supply that don't seem quite correct.

Also, just for kicks, download this free program and tell us the temps, the voltages, and the fan speeds. That should help:

Okay so yesterday I downloaded something, it turned out to be fake. But that wasn't all I logged into my runescape account and somehow they manually turned off my computer and went on my account and stole everything, but that's not the problem.

I had Microsoft Security Essentials and it didn't do anything. I got alot of help after that, people told me I had a rat and they told me to download malwarebytes and AVG. I did that, it said I removed everything but I'm not so sure. How can I be SURE that everything is gone?

Past few days Internet has been extremely slow and has been dropping often for seconds, really annoying as I'm a gamer, from what I have been reading I believe its our router, we just bought a brand new modem but our router is about 4-5 years old.

I have contacted service provider numerous times already and they tell me my modem signals are perfectly fine and then they tell me to power cycle, helped one night but every day after that the internet is still slow.

If you believe you can help me just let me know what information you need me to give for you to see what my problem is.

HP envy is possibly the worse laptop ive ever been dissappointed to own. From getting it out of the box it has been nothing but a failure. It cannot handle been online. it cannot handle multipe tabs or windows been opened. If you finally manage to load up more than one window flick away from it for a moment you will come back to a white window as all the information drops. I have no issues with my internet connection as my old laptop and several other household laptops will run fine. After googling the fault I'm extreamly dissappointed to see it is a major flaw with the HP envy.

It's kinda weird because I can't browse the internet after 1-2 hours after windows startup but I can ping any sites using the command prompt, play any online games, download using my utorrent and update my antivirus. This problem occur last Wednesday I think. Tried to disable then enable again in the network connection but didn't work. The only way to browse again is to restart which is crazy.

1) Reinstalling my network driver.
2) Scan for viruses and spywares.
3) Update using windows update
4) Reinstall OS then update again using windows update

Now I reinstall again my OS but didn't update using windows update yet(disabled it). I think the update this month is the culprit but I'm not pretty sure. Right now I don't have any problem with the internet. Anyone here can help me figure out what's the problem?

Hello, M3rk, and welcome to the Vista forums

The only thing I can think off to check that is time related is the device Power management, Check in the device manager on the network card properties and ensure that the "Let Windows turn of the power to this device" is set to disabled.

Hello all,

I've had this problem for about a week (!) now and have tried many "fixes" but still have it.

I just don't get it. Everything worked fine with my previous PC, Windows XP.

I got a new desktop system running Windows 7 and this happens. <shaking head>

Basically what happens is after several hours I am unable to load web pages using IE or Firefox, or use Yahoo messenger.

Strangely AOL, my torrent program, and frostwire still work.

What I really don't get is that the XP laptop I have wirelessly connected works fine and doesn't have the issue, yes this PC which is connected with a wire to the router does. ?????????

If I reboot the system doing nothing else the issue is fixed until next time.

I have a WRT54g router.

I have tried removing Bonjour, and I have also tried all of the other obvious fixes.

Below is my ipconfig and a route trace taken by Windows 7 at the time the issue was actually present.

I'm hoping SOMEONE can tell me what to try and do to fix this as this is driving me crazy.

Thanks all. I am kind of new at networking itself, and plus I am still learning how to get around Windows 7 after using XP for years so if you require any other info to try and help me please let me know and I'll do my best.

for some reason, whenever i use the internet, it will disconnect me after 3 hours of use, give or take 20 minutes or so. this is very very frustrating!!! is there any way i can fix it???

A:internet disconnects after 3 hours!!

IE has an option under Tools/Internet Options/Connections and then usually properties for your dialup where you can specify a time to disconnect (i.e. - if idle more than X minutes). Have you checked this?

If not - it may be something in your ISP setup (like aol, etc.)

I realize I repeat a former post here (topic160422), but since there's no answer yet, I thought it wouldn't be too bad an idea to describe my similar problem.

I run Vista on my laptop. Since a couple of weeks, I can use internet for a couple of hours, after which it simply doesn't load the websites any more. After typing an address, the message bar gives a black clock and says it's waiting for the website to reply. However, nothing's happening. The problem is the same for IE7 and firefox (2, I thought). All the other programs using internet (skype, outlook) have no problems. The only way to get internet running again, is by switching off the laptop by the power button, since the normal shutting down via start doesn't respond.

I've tried to solve the problem, by running a set of virus (avast, NOD32) and adware scanners (hitmanpro package; including ad-aware, spybot, spysweeper, spyware docter, ewido, CWShredder), but it hasn't changed anything.

If anyone has a clue what's going on here, thanks very much!!

So what else could be causing this and how can I fix it? I looked up slow internet after being on for a day and it said something about a possible memory leak.

A:Internet gets really slow after the pc has been on for 12 hours or more.

How many browser windows/tabs do you have open? If you have a lot, then that can sometimes overload a computer, especially if some of those pages have animated ads, etc.Which browser are you using? Have you tried a different browser to see if the same things happens with other browsers?Does the slow down occur at a common time of day? Or is anytime of the day, but just about 12 hours after you turn on the computer? If it happens at a specific time of the day, then what kind of an Internet connection do you have? Is it a cable modem? You might also want to mention which version of Windows you are running. It may not matter, but it certainly does not hurt and it might help at some point.

Hey guys,

I'm new to this site, but I saw some good answers and I was hoping someone would beable to help. I have had my Compaq Presario for just over two years now. I run Windows Vista, and I connect to the net through Internet Connection Sharing on another computer on my home network.

My problem started recently; I was surfing the net normally, when I noticed after opening a Firefox Window that I couldn't connect. The message said, unable to connect to the server, I believe. But the weird part is other programs could still connect, for instance Yahoo Messenger, for a little while, and other programs. The connected to the net icon is in the tray still. It's like Windows thinks it is still connected. Eventually everything would be disconnected and the only way I can figure out how to get net access back again is to hard reboot; turn off the computer and turn it on again.

I tried the normal diagnostics throgh Windows; it found nothing wrong. I am pretty sure that it's not my ISP, my network or how I am connecting as the other computers are fine and I can access other computers on my network still. I also have a mobile internet dongle for surfing when I'm not near a wifi signal, and that cannot coonect either, which leads me to think it is my computer.

Note; I recently had AVG tell me that mslunkern.dll was a bad file; the problems started around then.

This is causing me problems, as I use my latptop for my work. If anyone has any ideas, please let me know.

Thanks... Read more

Our internet only seems to work for certain hours each day. From 8:00-9:00... 14:00- 18:30... (not exact times, give or take 15-20 mins) the internet works perfectly fine, however all other hours, there is a red "LOS" light that comes on making it so our network is working (I can connect) but there is no internet.

I have tried turning it off and on. Replacing the router. Double checking all of our router settings. Factory resetting everything. Even the internet company keeps telling me they have fixed it, then come 18:30 and the red light of death comes on, baffling us once again.

I am at my wit's end.

According to the research I have done, the problem is outside of our home, however I find it very strange how precise the timing is for when it works and when it doesn't. It doesn't seem like a loose wire or a bad connection, plus if this were the case the technicians should have been able to fix it.

I have attached photos of the box while broken (the light is steady red, no flashing), as well as the bottom of both of our boxes.

Please if anyone has any solutions let me know!

Deleting the DCS and re-creating it resolves the issue for few hours, but then again the DCS stops few hours later with "Access Denied" error.?
We can not figure out what is causing it. ?
The issue happens to all our Windows boxes, old and new, running different OS, from Windows Server 2008 R2 to Windows Server 2016.?

A:Loosing internet connection every 2 or 3 hours.

DSL modem could be the problem or the router?
Do this:

connect the DSL modem directly to the PC and see if you get the same problem?
If you don't then you know it's not the DSL modem and it's the router causing the problem.

Have you update the firmware in the router by chance?

A:Internet Stops Working After About 2-4 Hours?help!?

What security programs are you running, antivirus, antispyware, firewall..? Do you have other computers on your LAN and do they stop working also? When it stops working contact your ISP and have them do a line test fo you. See if it is a wiring problem. When it stops working does the network activity icon in you task bar show activity? What about your task manager (Ctrl+Alt+Del)? If it does you may have malware infecting your system.
